Portsmouth FC LUALUA 32 2005/06 Jako Home Shirt
During the 2005–06 English football season, Portsmouth competed in the FA Premier League. It was Portsmouth’s third consecutive season in English football’s top-flight.
Trésor Lomana LuaLua made 26 appearances in the 2005–06 season, scoring seven goals, but missed several games in the autumn after contracting malaria on a visit to Africa to play for DR Congo. He also missed several games due to international duty at the 2004 African Cup of Nations and missed games in April 2006 after damaging his foot while doing his acrobatic goal celebration during a game against Arsenal. His disciplinary problems continued when he was warned by the Football Association over his future conduct; this came after he admitted a charge of improper conduct in relation to comments made about referee Uriah Rennie after a 3–1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in December. LuaLua signed a new three-year contract in July 2006; it was set to keep him at Portsmouth until 2009. However he left in 2007 to Greek club Olympiakos.

African Legends embrace #19KickupsAgainstCovid19 in support of Stay Safe
CAF in partnership with Speak Up Africa has kicked off the #19KickUpsAgainstCovid19 social media challenge, encouraging everyone to share information online to help stop the spread of COVID-19 on the African continent.
The new online challenge forms part of the Stay Safe Africa campaign, which seeks to empower communities and individuals to take simple and proven preventive measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in Africa. Stay Safe Africa, launched by Dakar-based advocacy tank Speak Up Africa, brings together partners to work towards a common goal of saving lives by increasing investments and awareness to protect our continent from this new threat while ensuring access and treatment from other ongoing health threats.
As part of the challenge, influential players are inviting their peers and everyone to participate in the challenge by recording a video of them doing 19 kick-ups and sharing it on social media. To date, African football legends Ahmed Hassan (Egypt), Perpetua Nkwocha (Nigeria), Joseph Yobo (Nigeria), Karim Haggui (Tunisia), and Trésor Lomana Lualua (DR Congo) have shared videos.
Furthermore, CAF Deputy General Secretary Anthony Baffoe has also participated in the challenge, as CAF lends its influential voices, clubs, and legends to the campaign to help protect one billion Africans from COVID-19.
“Football brings together so many people from different backgrounds, nationalities, and languages, and we hope that this social media challenge will bring people together in the same way. Even though the football season has been put on hold, we must all continue to come together, with distance, and fight the spread of this disease and misinformation. I personally took part in the challenge and I hope players and fans will engage and continue the chain ”, Baffoe said.
In Africa, there are currently over 157,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and over 4,000 deaths. Several risk factors mean the virus could spread quickly across the continent. A coordinated Africa-led approach to stop the spread of COVID-19 is crucial, as high population densities, communal living as well as the constrained access to water and washing facilities all increase the likelihood of coronavirus infections and fatalities.
“We are thrilled to have CAF’s influential players and members taking part in this exciting social media challenge and raising awareness of the importance of protecting yourself and others from COVID-19. Sport is a powerful tool to transform the continent, particularly when it comes to health initiatives. We encourage everyone to take part in this online challenge to raise awareness and incite positive change in health practices and behavior”, said Yacine Djibo, Executive Director of Speak Up Africa.
To take part in the Stay, Safe Africa, social media challenge, share a video of yourself completing 19 kick ups along with the hashtag #19KickUpsAgainstCovid19 and nominate five more people to take part.

For a team that finished last in real life, performances so far have been incredibly surprising. £536k transfer budget doesn’t give me much to improve the squad, so Lomana LuaLua is in on loan from Newcastle to add pace to the squad.

Lomana LuaLua: Former Newcastle and Portsmouth striker plays for non-league Tilbury
He was famous for his trademark backflip celebration at Newcastle and Portsmouth and now Lomana LuaLua has turned out for non-league Tilbury FC – alongside his teenage son.
The former Premier League striker played the second half of Tilbury’s 1-0 pre-season win against YouTube club Hashtag United.[1]
LuaLua, 37, has played for nine clubs since leaving Portsmouth in 2007, including Olympiacos in Greece, and last played for Alsancak Yesilova SK in Cyprus.
“He would have done his celebration if he had scored,” said Tilbury boss Joe Keith.
Essex club Tilbury are in the Isthmian League North Division and Keith is a former team-mate of LuaLua at Colchester United.
Keith told BBC Sport: “There was a lot of excitement. I kept it a surprise from the players until I put the team sheet up and then just watched their faces as they realised.
“In the dressing room after the players were asking loads of questions and he was brilliant with them all.
“Everyone was aware of him because of his celebration, but a couple probably didn’t realise just how good he was.
“They probably went home and Googled him, and it would have opened their eyes.”
LuaLua, who scored 24 goals in 146 Premier League appearances, was signed[2] for Newcastle by Sir Bobby Robson for £2.25m in 2000 and played in the Champions League for the Magpies and Olympiacos.
Keith, 39, says he received a phone call “out of the blue” from LuaLua, who wanted to come and watch his team, who play in the eighth tier of English football.
“He was impressed with the team and I asked if he wanted to play,” added Keith, who played LuaLua up front in the second half, with the player’s 17-year-old son, Keenan, at full-back.
“He could still get away from people and when he wanted to put the after-burners on he was gone.
“He has ambitions to play a lot higher than we are and I hope a club will snap him up.
“I hope we can help him do that without too much impact on our squad – he’s a friend of mine and I want him to do well.
“I don’t know if it will go any further than this, but have left it with him if he wants to play for us again.”
