My Writing This Week

No updates this week but I’m over 4k into chapter 3 of Your Hand In Mine and I’m hoping to finish it this week. I’ve also started a one-shot for Javi P (think secret relationship, I Can See You by Taylor Swift vibes?) and I’m revisiting the ex!Frankie at the beach wip too.

What I've Been Up To This Week

I have not had a great week if I’m honest and this weekend I haven’t felt as well as usual, but I’ve watched some cosy films and managed to have some relaxing moments.

Next week, I’m hoping things will settle down a little at home and work and that I’ll have some good writing time. I’m also trying to get back into my spin classes and yoga where I can too. Finally, I’m very excited for the Lessons in Chemistry adaption to start on the 13th, I think?

What I've Been Up To

It’s October which means Spooky Season is here. I watched Practical Magic for the first time this weekend after seeing it on some of my moots’ dashboards and thinking it looked like my sort of film. I loved it so much and it's a new favourite.

I’ve been enjoying some dirty chais recently so I’m buying some chai latte so I can make my own at home.

I didn't finish any books this week but I did start a couple of books. I’m currently thinking about starting the new Ava Reid, A Study in Drowning, too as it’s on my tbr and the cover is so pretty.

I’ve been watching Still Up - a lovely UK comedy series about two insomniacs who chat on FaceTime in the middle of the night. By the way, I did not know about this before Your Hand In Mine and the vibes of this show are very different - but I have said since I was about 15 there is a story there with people meeting with insomnia so I’m kind of glad the collective universe agrees.

After friends at work and on discord encouraged me, I’ve succumbed to trying out Baldur’s Gate 3. This is not my usual type of game, but I’m enjoying the story based approach and richness of the characters and the fun of playing something new and different to me.

Saturdays with Javi: Tied Together @wildemaven wrote a lovely post show Javi updated to her Saturdays with Javi series. I now need to catch up with the rest of the series

My Writing This Week

No updates, but I posted the series list for Let's Get Lost, my ex! Frankie at the beach fic. I'm really excited about this concept and am delighted several people have shown interest so far.

Current state of the WIPs:

Your Hand In Mine - I have been working on a one-shot update between chapter three and four called 'Rumours about hips and thighs and whispered sighs' and it's uh, well I think the title implies a bit? Joel and the reader have come a long way from bench chats.

Let's Get Lost - working on chapter one and likely to be posted after the above one-shot

Secret Smile - remains on temporary hiatus but I hope to be writing for it again very soon.

I Can See You In Your Suit and Your Necktie - still in early drafts

What I've Been Up To This Week

I bought a new book at the weekend called Ink Blood Sister Scribe that sounds great and I'm about to start. I'm also eyeing up several other books at the moment but I'm trying to work through my TBR.

Nothing I've read this week beats last week's read of Girl Goddess Queen yet.

I've been listening to some more podcasts, including You're Wrong About and Maintenance Phase which are really interesting.

I had my hair recoloured and now it's super coppery and I'm really happy with it.

I've continued playing BG3 - at the moment I am stuck in Act 3 in my OG runthrough which is with a half-elf bard (why is the house of grief so hard? Why?!) so I started my Durge runthrough this week (tiefling driud for extra act one drama) I remain stuck in my Astarion and BG3 moment and I have made my peace with this. It's fun as I'm finding things I missed in my main playthrough (like the book in the cellar, the well in the village, etc.)

Javier Peña Señorita - chapter 7 @lavendertales I finally caught up on this fic and damn, it was worth the wait! Let Me Love You - @thetriumphantpanda A very hot Javi one shot come away with me and we'll kiss - @undercoverpena I will read anything jo writes for the late night texts universe.

Joel Miller Observations - @ezrasbirdie I loved this fic and the sweet flirting between the reader and Joel.

Ezra (Prospect) Compulsion - chapter 8 - @iamskyereads Skye has created the most vivid and brilliant world and OFC in this fic. I adore her writing so much.

My Writing This Week

I don't know what happened to me this week, but I managed to post three different things (if we count last Saturday, which for today we will). I won't lie, I feel super proud of this achievement:

What I've Been Up To This Week

The past couple of months have not been easy and work has been super busy recently, however I still had some good experiences this week. Over the weekend, I visited a new-to-me local Indian restaurant (really lovely food), and I also treated myself to a new book.

What I've Read:

The Good Daughter - Laure Van Rensburg

What I've Listened to, Watched or Played:

All of the Noah Kahan - Stick Season is the album I play on repeat going to work these days

I started listening to Laugh Track by the National on a work friend's recommendation as I do like the National anyway.

I have been listening to Dream Girl Evil by FLorence and the Machine on repeat since it was used in The Other Black Girl TV adaption.

I've been playing Spiderman: Miles Morales - I cannot help but love this game so far. It's really good fun

I started another TLOU rewatch because it feels autumnal to me and it will help with fic research. That's my excuse anyway 😂

I also watched Wilderness on prime, which had some definite potential and great songs in the soundtrack but didn't really work for me overall.
