Degrassi S4 musings

Ughhhhh Part of me ships Yael and Lola but then another part of me wants Yael to remain only into guys because it will definitely show gender crisis doesn’t always equate with sexuality/romantic attraction crisis. I would love if they did that and had Hunter have the sexuality crisis. And actually show him struggle - something I felt that they missed with Miles. I mean they did show it but didn’t confirm he was actually struggling till this season. Which I always thought he did and always interpreted that he did but it wasn’t that explicit. So having Hunter be the one that has a sexuality crisis since they did bring it up in the finale I feel like this can be where it goes. Vijay is the gay character now that Tristan is gone and now bringing up Hunter’s sexuality because of Yael being NB now. I can imagine they may want to recreate a triles type thing since it went over well. So since they’ve not brought on another gay male or bi male as a love interest for Vijay I can see it as a possibility. I just had them as a crack ship but as soon as now they chose Yael to be NB I can see this brings up the question now is Hunter still considered straight because if they write him as being afraid of what it makes him if he still likes Yael this means he likes them as a person not because of their gender. This has come up now in the show so I’m wondering if it’s game now. It would be a really awesome plot twist but also hinted! It may be nice to have Lola also question her sexuality separate from Yael and maybe be paired with another person that is not them. This way the audience isn’t confused that this means gender crisis is the same as as orientation crisis. Altho I really do love Saad and Lola as well! Ah I CAN'T decide!

Also as a side note Hunter questioning his sexuality can also keep Miles guest appearing now and again like Katie Matlin did and it also breaks a stereotype and would ground Hunter more I think into a more understanding character. This can be pans or and the difference between bi and pans. And I know Miles and Hunter are siblings but Dylan and Paige were also siblings and Triles can be equated with Dylan and Marco while Hunter and Vijay could equate to Paige and Alex. Hope I’m making sense. I’m really excited about this plot so far on all aspects with representation potentials not just about who but the representation it means!

First, you are such a great writer!! Second, what are your favorite plot lines your characters have been involved in?

Hm, you think I would be able to think of allll deez at the drop of the hat, but as stated before I have one singular brain cell chugging along so forgive me. 

Is it a cop out to say that Holden’s ‘major’ plot line with @hcrperthomas is my favorite? I mean obviously when you put up a wanted connection for something super duper major, you get a little nervous, but Cece is friggen amazing and I couldn’t be happier that we get to write this out together. It looks like Holden and Harper are dragging along with coming to terms with things... but grief is messy and honestly just having a face from his past and finding out she has a kid with his best friend who’s death he was responsible for... was just mind blowing for him djfksfjg. so I’m just so excited to see where this will eventually end up good or bad. 

And does this even count as a plot line?....(yes I chose two)... I just love how Holden has inevitably found himself wrapped up in Josefine’s old drama just merely by mistake. I mean, boy just talks and shit goes wrong and he just keeps finding himself in Mallory’s line of verbal fire bc he doesn’t know how to just COMPOSE HIMSELF around this 1000 year old woman. 

My favorite plot line for Julian is obviously his banter with @nixonreynolds. They’ve come a lonnggg way from Julian threatening to kill him and blaming Nix for Oliver’s death.... a LONNGGG way but they’re still frenemies for sure and I just adore it far too much. 

also I miss lucinda breckenridge @hcdtallxs, she was a blessing to Julian’s development, rip

Caleb and @lolacarrington verbally brawling over coco is always funny af. lola is a true ride or die. But that’s pretty minor. 

I’ve definitely loved exploring this whole ‘psychological prison’ I’ve set up with Caleb’s werewolf side and him having attacked @annabellerhodes-x was such a great start point, I love Erika

Beth and @allglasseverything is so great bc while she does wear these masks to kind of hide her vulnerability from her peers, she kind of sees herself in Elodie and 10/10 wants to protect / semi - recruit ?? she’s still up in the air on that. But exploring all these different nuances of Beth’s personality is so important to me considering how much she has been through and how she really just can’t let her shoulders down in front of the Ouroboro’s (at least that’s how she feels, always watching her back, etc). 

Also, this isn’t my direct plot, but Beth slipping up about @kaseyxreid‘s past life is something I’m wigging out about and can’t wait to explore more bc gurl whoops jfksjgksgjskg

And finally, obviously, honorable mention to @cyrus-hayes and his psycho self. Mar is so incredible as a writer and it’s a BLESSING to be able to explore another side of Beth. She wants to trust Cyrus but knows she can’t and it’s just STRESSFUL, GURL. It’s like she’s getting a played out life lesson on who not to be (sorry Cy, lololol) 

Mal is a simple dude, obviously @luciantallis and Mal is ICONIC but I can’t scream about that here, I’ll just DIE FNKSJGKSGJSK. So let’s just make it funnier and say that the best thing ever is Mal hitting on @elijah-tallis without realizing that’s Lucian’s bro bro :/ smh, mal never learns

Thoughts (pt.1)

- I liked yael’s plot (gender fluidity, how big breasts aren’t all they are cracked up to be i.e. your back hurts. Addressing that many woman are wearing an ill fitting bra, not shaving, and just being inquisitive) One thing I thought was odd was how insignificant the wig seemed it was like, really? I thought there would be more of a story and it was only talked about for like one second and no one else questioned her hair if that makes sense.

- I loved how in the end Zoe’s friends are now her family, This is important because when a family member/all of your family are not supportive it can be hard to cut those ties.

- With Saad I really sympathised with him, he wasn’t being heard, there was a lot of miscommunication and no one seemed to take the time to hear him out, it was nice to see Lola interacting with him and just nice that he had at least one friend that actually listened.

- No one said anything about grace carrying around an oxygen tank? I found that so bizarre and degrassi skip over little things like that quite a bit. Grace was there for a lot of her friends this season, her interactions with zoe and maya in particular were nice.

- Not sure if we have found out what the ‘X’ on Jonah’s hand means, but I really want it to relate to X-files ><
