Once, I saw a woman on Instagram criticizing the porn industry, and I immediately knew there would be some man in the comments getting defensive. What I didn't expect to see was a man who wrote, "Women criticize porn as if they don't write about having sex with fictional men."

As someone who despises the porn industry but actively reads smut, id argue that women writing smut is a direct effect of the ways porn has impacted women's sexual expression.

Why do women choose to sexually express themselves through fictional characters and celebrities? If a teenage boy wants to have sex, he's just being a boy. If a teenage girl wanted to have sex, something had to have happened to her. That's concerning. Men can have a lot of sex. He's a man. Of course, he's going to want to have sex. Women can't have sex; women having sex is slutty. Nobody likes a whore. Blowjobs? That's normal. Eating a girl out? Don't be gross. Thats disgusting. Women can't sexually express themselves without being judged in society, but you know who won't judge them? People they understand they have no chance with, like celebrities and fictional characters. This is why a lot of queer men also partake in "fangirl" culture because queer sexual expression is also shunned in society, so there has to be some sort of outlet.

This brings me to my next topic, the difference between porn and smut. They're not different in the way porn was made for men by men and smut was made for women by women. If I went on pornhub, the first thing ill see is, "Big tits virgin teen girl gets choked out by massive 10-inch cock." Women aren't equal to men in porn. Porn makes women objects; in porn, women's sexuality does not exist. Women don't have sexual needs outside of what the man wants. Once, I heard someone say, "In a pornsick culture, women don't have sex; they perform it." Meanwhile, in smut, it's the opposite. Even if the writer is writing with sub and dom dynamics typically, there will always be an underlying sense of trust, with moments of obvious consent, whether that is verbal, a touch, or a glance.

This isn't to say women don't write about rough sex. They do. There are so many fics that involve extreme kink aspects, but more times than not, there will be that trust and consent.

But what if there's not? I've seen it. if you read smut, you've probably seen questionable tags, too. It's important to mention that just because mostly women write smut, there are straight men who do it, too. I've read smut, which was painfully obvious it was written by a man. That being said, women also write questionable... smut. Going back to my most recent statement, women are shown and taught that they are objects. So it's not completely absurd to say you will find smut written by women that objectifies them; when you condition someone to an idea, it's hard to unlearn that. It's hard to understand sexuality as a woman when society is telling you not to be slutty but to also submit and to perform for a man and his sexual needs because in a man's world, his sexual needs, by default, are your sexual needs.

Is smut damaging to women? Well, I'm not a psychologist. I'm just a nineteen year old girl who likes to read smut about Spencer Reid and is also a feminist. So, I do not know how qualified I am to answer this question, but what I will say is I think that as long as women are not writing smut and portraying themselves as sexual beings living for the sole purpose of men.... smut is a perfectly healthy way to express sexuality :) all in all porn is fucking scary, and so is men and sex and being intimate it’s all really scary but smut is an easy way to express your sexuality in a safe anonymous space.

Criminal Minds Masterlist

It’s strange when you break up with a friend, even more so when the reason that you breakup is something stupid, something avoidable. It hurts even more when you get abandoned, ghosted by someone you thought would be in your life for the rest of it. No one ever prepares you for friendships ending. You get prepared for romantic relationships, death, and maybe sometimes you drift apart from friends but even then you’re prepared.

You stare at the group chat that had defined your childhood and teenage years. Stare at the names followed by “has left the chat” with a feeling in your heart that is only rivaled by death of a loved one if you remembered correctly. It had been a while.

It was a petty argument that only lasted a day, something about how everyone treated you. You regretted bringing it up on the first day that you had been ignored after sending a message. That day turned into a week which turned into them all leaving the group chat without telling you which hurt more than being kicked out of it. Did you really mean that little that they would ghost you that easily?

You never started arguments usually. You never even participated in them, trying to stay neutral in order to keep everyone happy. Always passive and agreeable and everyone liked you that way. The one time you have something to get off your chest…maybe you shouldn’t have said anything.

You tried to message one of your friends first, you hadn’t known her as long as some of the others in the group, but she was always sweet and didn’t seem like the type to ghost.

You 5:43 pm: Irene what happened? I saw you all left the group chat. Is something wrong?

You don’t get an answer back for an hour. And it makes your heart squeeze in your chest. It isn’t really an answer, but at the same time it answered both of your questions. To her you didn’t really matter all that much and something was really wrong.

Irene 7:01 pm: just leave me alone. You said what you needed to say, if you message me again I’ll block you.

You try again with a different friend. One you have known a little longer. One who had complained to you and confided in you and one that you thought you were close to than this.

He doesn’t answer at all, and neither do the other two that you message. Eventually you figure out that your messages never sent because you had been blocked. Going to their instagrams and twitters, everything is gone as soon as you click on them. Even their TikTok’s have nothing for you to look at.

Soon enough you’re fighting off tears, your chest tight and your stomach swirling. Was speaking up for yourself really worth this? Your head spins and your vision becomes blurry as you click on the last contact that’s available to you.

Your best friend. Having known her for the longest time out of all of them, you’d think she’d say something before doing something like this. You two met in elementary school, and were friends before the group got together. If you think about it more your friendship reminded you of the one in Jennifer’s Body. Except instead of saving everyone, you were being ignored and abandoned by the person you thought was going to be there even if everyone else wouldn’t. The person that you thought you could rely on.

But before you could message her, one came straight to you. The bubbles popping up as she’s typing something else. You can’t really understand the first paragraph, your mind to overwhelmed by the weeks events to be able to read.

Emilie 7:42 pm: I just wanted to message you before you tried anything with me. I’m honestly not interested in talking to you anymore after how you talked to me and my friends. None of us want you in the group anymore, and honestly it’s fucking pathetic that you’re reaching out and asking if anything is wrong when you’re the reason everyone was upset in the first place. Like you said we were shit friends, and now you wanna act like everything confuses you? If we were so shitty to you, why do you want us to still talk to you? I told Jacob, Josh, Irene, and Paisley to block you if you message them because honestly they don’t need you to try to beg and plead with them. You’re toxic and we’re done with you. Honestly, you look pathetic and desperate for attention messaging all of us like this. I’m not even gonna bother blocking you because it doesn’t really matter that much to me and maybe in the future I could be open to being friends again but for right now, I’m over it. Bye. You should do better.

Now the tears fall down your face, hot and burning as they trail down your cheeks and onto the screen of your phone. Going onto instagram to doom scroll your feelings away, you are immediately met with a photo of your friend group hanging out without you. Taken aback, you try to bring yourself to unfollow Emilie, to block her and effectively cut her out of your life while your wounds are fresh and your friendship is newly ended so you don’t have to torture yourself. But that’s exactly what you do, torture yourself. Instead of unfollowing her, deleting all of the pictures of her and your friend group from your feed, you scroll through them, the tears falling faster the longer you sit there and reminisce. You don’t even hear the front door open and close, and the only reason you know it did is because of the weight that causes you to lean towards the new person in the bed. Warmth blankets around you, the feeling of arms wrapped around your body brings you out of your mind.

Turning to look at the man next to you, you see that Spencer is looking at you as if you’re a wounded animal and it makes you burst out into tears. Maybe you really did look pathetic. “Oh no…what happened?”

You tried to explain, but couldn’t properly while you were blubbering. Instead you just throw your phone to him and let your head fall into your hands. He takes a literal second to read, then lets out a gust of air that usually meant he was surprised and didn’t know what to say.

He moves to hug you again, resting his head on top of yours. “You know…they say that it takes 200 hours to form a close friendship with someone. And when that friendship ends unexpectedly, it can cause a multitude of issues in the future with how you trust and open up to people…”

His ramblings weren’t all that comforting, but just hearing him speak made you start to feel better. Of course he would attempt to make things better by spouting facts that one hundred percent would make anyone else annoyed at him. You snuggle into his arms, nodding your head to show that you’re listening in between sobs. “S-so how long until I s-stop feeling like my h-heart is broken?” You ask. It did somehow feel like being broken up with, or having someone die.

“Well, most grief experts think that a year is a good estimate on how long it takes to get used to the loss of someone major in your life…”

“A year?” You whine, letting your head tilt backwards dramatically. “That’s too long!” It’s kind of a joke, the way you say it. But the way he looks at you lets you know that he knows you’re being somewhat serious.

“She was your best friend…of course it’s going to take some time to get used to not talking to her…however long you take to grieve is how long it’s going to take. It’s not a complete science.”

You nod, and hide your face in his chest. While you still felt like the Earth was ending, maybe it’s not ending right this second anymore.

it gets to the point where the kids stay at just one house the entire weekend, probably alternating. like if the reid kids stay over with the morgan children, the next weekend (and when theyre teenagers, not just the weekends but basically 24/7) the morgan kids will stay over with the reids.

by the time theyre like 5 they introduce themselves as cousins and when theyre a little older they say that theyre basically sisters/brothers/siblings (depending on what they are lol, idk ive been picturing girls this whole time, sorry hank, but girl dad!spencer is too 🥰🥰🥰)

and since morgan resigned when he had a kid and i am a firm believer (literally could never think otherwise) that spencer would resign when he has a baby, they always have both parents there for it all.

also they'd be so protective of each other, like no one will be mean to one because they know the other will make their life horrible because that's they're sibling

PERSONAL

I MOVED ACROSS THE WORLD!!!!! I am now living in Dublin, Ireland. it was a move I'd been aiming to do for years, and once I received my citizenship and Irish passport, I decided to give it a shot. I've been here for nine months and am having a wonderful time.

I did more traveling this year than I think I ever have in a single calendar year.

In Ireland, I've visited several counties and lots of Dublin, including: Malahide, Howth, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin Mountains, Glasnevin Cemetery, Little Museum of Dublin, GPO Museum, National Gallery of Ireland, National Museum(s) of Ireland, EPIC Museum.

I finally went to Paris for a few days in June! Visited: Musée d'Orsay, Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Coeur, Notre Dame (closed to visitors due to renovation/restoration work but wandered around the outside and had a fabulous lunch). Bonus points for the Paris Métro, which fuckin rules.

I finally went to Italy for a long weekend in October! Got to see my folks that weekend as well. Spent time in Venice and Florence. Ate a lot of good food and gelato.

My beloved Seattle Mariners broke a 21 year drought and made it to the PLAYOFFS!!!!!!

I have been puttering away on a ROGUE ONE-FRINGE fusion/AU, ENDLESS FORMS MOST BEAUTIFUL. it has been super slow going but I am trying and I WILL finish it.

Similarly, sorta, I took a writing class! I shared a snippet of my original writing which was well-received. I got some lovely comments from my teacher which is currently sustaining me.

⤷ summary: you don’t need to look like belle or tiana for spencer to think you’re the prettiest girl alive

⤷ warnings: self-doubt, body image insecurity, negative social media impacts

Social media was a public hazard sometimes, everyone knew this. But, it didn’t stop people from feeling insecure from time to time, you included. You were happy with your body, you were happy with the way you looked. You were healthy, and you were happy. Not to mention you had Spencer, who’d take every chance he got to remind of how beautiful he thinks you are. But, seeing different models on instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Pinterest, and such only made you feel self-conscious.

As much as it hurt your mental health, you couldn’t help but continue scrolling. Influencer after influencer, your self-doubt only grew. You couldn’t help but wonder if Spencer would think they were prettier than you. Though, you knew what he’d tell you. If he were in the room with you, he’d tell you that you were the most beautiful person he knows. But, he’s not in the room sitting on the bed with you. He’s in the kitchen, brewing some coffee.

You should put the phone down before Spencer walks in and sees the frown on your face. You knew you should, but you didn’t, you couldn’t. The screen was just too addicting. It was as addicting as it was harmful. After a few minutes, you come upon a photo of someone dressed as a disney princess. She looked so beautiful, and you couldn’t help but wonder how you’d look if you tried to dress up as one. Would you look as good?

Getting lost in your screen, you didn’t notice the bedroom door creak open. It wasn’t until Spencer sat down next to you on the bed that you finally realized he was in the room. You set your phone down and turn to him, only to find him looking at you with furrowed eyebrows. Of course he’d caught onto the fact that something was bothering you, you were dating a profiler after all.

“Hey love,” you begin, hoping to steer the topic away from you before he can say anything.

But, he doesn’t let you, “What’s bothering you?” he asks with gentle concern, getting straight to the point. It hurts him to see you so upset. You don’t reply, but he catches your eyes averting to your phone for a split second. “Social media?” he guesses, and your expression tells him that he’s right.

“It’s not a big deal,” you try, but he’s not buying it. How could he just let it go when you were so clearly affected by it? Sure, you’d get over it eventually. He knew that, but he didn’t want to leave you to do it on your own.

“You know you’re absolutely perfect to me, right?” he asks, and you nod your head. “It doesn’t matter how popular the influencers that you see are, you’ll always be the most beautiful to me.”

“Thanks, but I’m no disney princess,” you mumble quietly. You don’t mean to say it, but it slips out.

His eyebrows entangle themselves again as he looks at you. You’re not making eye contact, so he leans in and gives you a soft kiss before saying, “You don’t need to be a disney princess, because to me you’ll always be more charming.”

“Spencer,” you start, now looking up at him. But you trail off, so he continues talking for you.

“Besides, I’m definitely no prince! But, that’s what makes us fit so well. You don’t need to look like a disney princess to be special to me, y/n. I already love you so much.”

At this point, tears are welling up in your eyes, and you’re thinking about how you got so lucky as to end up with someone like him. “I love you too,” you say.

“Do you want me to make some tea? We could try that new one we picked up on our last case,” he offers. But you decline, you don’t need any tea, only him.

“Can we just go to sleep?” it’s late, and you’re tired. Besides, you both have to be up early tomorrow. Once you’re both settled under the covers, Spencer pulls you close and you hide your head in the crook of his neck, letting out a gentle sigh. Leave it to Spencer to make you feel better. “Spencer?” you say.

“Yeah?” He's quiet, and his voice is gentle. You can hear his love for you in his voice and it makes your heart swell.

You were no longer overwhelmed with negativity, but with love. “Thank you.”

“Of course, sweetheart.”

A/N: Hiiiii my loves!! I honestly apologize for the long wait! So much has went on in the last few weeks. I graduated high school and got a job and got my second vaccination (i felt like i got hit by a bus lol) so i haven’t had much time to write this one. It’s really short and boring because i wanted to get it out but it’s kind of a build up for the next chapter and i’m really excited for it. You watched meticulously as Spencer played the chess game with himself while instructing you on how to play. His lips moved in an indescribable form as words flowed out of his mouth like a waterfall on a substantially rainy day. The only complication was that you weren’t listening to a word he uttered due to the fact that you were too focused on how anyone’s lips could be as perfect as his were. They had the pigment of pale-red to a perfect degree.

“Y/N?” You were pulled away from your thoughts like a toddler being pulled from the playground by their stay at home mom. You shook your head.

“What?” You questioned, regaining your attention.

“Did you hear what I said?” He asked, glancing over at you quickly before looking back at the board. His fingers move a chess piece out of place to replace it with the competing side.

“Uh-no” you remove your hand from underneath your head that your chin rested on and sit up straight to center your attention on what he was saying.

“I said, Initially, the Queen could only move one square at a time, which was diagonally. Later in the game, she could move two squares at a time, diagonally. But It wasn’t until Reconquista Spain, with its powerful queen Isabella, that the Queen became the strongest piece on the board.” He looked back at you with a smile.

“That’s cool” you genuinely smile.

You and Spencer have been hanging out a lot for the past week. You both would leave extra early in the morning so that the two of you could mingle at the bakery before you open. Usually you would prepare for the day while Spencer reads, eats, gets ahead on paperwork, etc. Today he was teaching you how to play chess since you pretty much prepared everything the night before so that you would have more time to just sit and talk to him.

Spencer fixes his gaze at his watch before quickly mumbling under his breath.

“Oh- I have to go. I’ll see you later?” He put the chess pieces in the box and closed it before seizing the rest of his things.

“Yeah!” You reply a little too enthusiastically and cringe internally at that.

It was safe to say that you were forming a tiny crush on him. But who wouldn’t. For the small amount of time that you’ve got to know him, he’s been nothing but a sweetheart.

He grins at you one last time before exiting.

The time that Spencer used to use to get to work early and start was now the time he’s using to hang out with you. This is the reason he either started getting to the bau after everyone else or around the same time as them.

As the elevator dinged Spencer walked out and into the bullpen. Today was one of those days that everyone else was there before him.

He walked in, murmuring a good morning to everyone and sat at his desk.

“Got any danishes for me , pretty boy?” Asked Morgan as Spencer took his satchel off.

JJ covers her mouth to hide her forming smile. Prentiss watches the whole thing happen from afar.

Spencer shoots him a disapproving glare “why would i?”

“Because you smell like you’ve been in a bakery?” JJ answers before Morgan has the chance to open his mouth.

Hotch eventually walks in, looking like he rushed here. His tie was barely done correctly, he had his blazer draped over his forearm instead of it being on like usual, and his left shoe came untied.

“What’s that smell?” He asked. Morgan and JJ hissed with laughter and Emily shook her head.

“Spencer’s new cologne.” Morgan answered in a joking manner.

However, Hotch didn’t catch on as he was too busy trying to straighten himself out and get to his office but he nods approvingly at Spencer.

Spencer shakes his head, embarrassed that the attention he was getting wasn't completely positive.

After an hour and a half of doing case file work (and Spencer’s bakery scent wearing off), Hotch calls them all to the conference room for a case.

After the details being described and Hotch saying his normal catchphrase, the team heads for their cars to gather their go bags and such and begin to pack onto the jet. As they got comfortable for their 3 hour plane ride, Spencer took the lonesome seat by the coffee machine so he could read in peace.

After about 30 minutes, half of the team was either going over the case or trying to get some sleep before this case wore them out. Rossi got up to make himself some coffee. He realized that he and Spencer haven’t talked about anything other than work in some time.

“Coffee?” He turns to Spencer who was deep in his book.

Spencer looks up. “I-uh, no thanks” he gives him a straight lined smile before turning his eyes to look back at his book.

Rossi stops stirring his own coffee that he was making. Right then, he knew something was going on. With the way he’s been acting distant from the team, quiet unless it was a case they were talking about. Even when they’re just at the bullpen, for the past week he’s noticed Spencer is always the last one in yet the first one out and he didn’t think it had anything to do with his ability to read 20,000 words per minute. Or when it’s lunch break time, they all agree to go out to eat but Spencer doesn’t go with them. He was even turning down coffee. And Spencer NEVER turns down coffee. He must’ve really wanted to avoid talking about her if he was turning down coffee. But Rossi didn’t care. He picked up his coffee and sat across from Spencer.

“She must be some woman if you’re turning down coffee to avoid talking.” Spencer looks up from his book.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” He clears his throat before going back to reading. Or at least attempting to. But Rossi starts to talk again.

“I’m not in any type of way forcing you to talk about her. But I want you to think about the fact that you work with profilers and if you’re going to pretend that you’re single, you should probably do a better job of it.” And with that, He stands back up and makes his way to the seat he was previously sitting in.

Spencer thinks about his words and internally makes himself agree to do a better job of pretending he’s not seeing anyone. But truth be told, if you think about it, he really wasn’t. Having new friends aren’t considered “seeing anyone“. Was it?

Spencer opened his messages with you which was a tiny thread because you hadn’t had each other’s numbers for long.

S: I got called in for a case. Maybe I can finish teaching you chess another time?

Y/n: Yeah definitely!

You sat on the couch after closing the shop up early, enjoying some Chinese takeout that you picked up on the way home. The TV was on playing some old reruns. However your mind really wasn’t on that. It was wondering over to Spencer. Yeah, okay.. it has been a while since you’ve gotten… some. Not that it was an excuse to think about him sexually. But when he looked as good as he did, it wasn’t something you could help. No one should look that good playing chess.

Before you let your thoughts get the best of you and end up texting him something stupid, you take a 15 minute shower before heading to bed.

Morgan had never seen Spencer focus so intensely on a geographical profile before.

He raises his eyebrows in wonder. “What’s going through that head of yours, pretty boy?” He asked, making his way over to him.

“Uh- nothing. Just trying to get this done so we can go home.” He answers without taking his eyes off the map.

Rossi and Derek discreetly glance at one another.

As they boarded back on to the jet for their trip back home, Spencer, once again, took the lonesome seat. Everyone noticed almost immediately due to the fact that he was the first one on the plane. But after about a week of chasing down an unsub who was drugging college girls and leading them home to kill them, everyone was just too tired to engage in it.

Spencer’s thumb hovered over his phone keyboard. It was going on 12 in the morning and you may not have been up. He eventually conjures up the courage to type out the message.

s: Hi. I’m not completely sure if you are up this late but if you are, I wanted to tell you I will be back in a few hours if you maybe want to hang out tomorrow.

He quickly exited the message thread and opened a book to keep his mind occupied rather than overthinking her possible responses.

Twenty- three minutes later to be exact, his phone begins to ring. Usually, Spencer never gets notifications so he never keeps his phone on silent. Now he was kind of wishing he had it on silent since he gained attention from Hotch and JJ. He quickly murmured a ‘sorry’ before silencing his phone and looking down at the screen. It was you. Spencer’s heart began to race. You guys never actually spoke on the phone.

He swiped over to answer and turns his body facing towards the window to give him a bit more privacy, putting his phone up to his ear in the process.

“Hi” he answers.

“Hey” your voice was groggy as if you had just awoke from a nap “Sorry for the sudden phone call. I just don’t feel like texting right now” you smiled although he couldn’t see.

“No- no, it’s okay.” He can see Hotch getting up and walking over to where he is for a cup of coffee and turns himself a little more towards the window.

“I just wanted to tell you that the bakery won’t be open tomorrow. I- um- I just haven’t been feeling like myself.” You spoke, petting Luna who had settled into a sleep position on your stomach.

Spencer’s eyebrows furrowed. “Are you okay?” He asked.

“No, yeah, I’m fine.” You chuckle a little, causing Luna to stir from her sleep. “But I am still up for the Chess lessons” an obvious smirk in your statement. However, no matter how evident it was, Spencer was completely oblivious to it.

“I can wait until you open your shop back up, it’s no big deal.” His lips forms into a straight line per usual.

Hotch doesn’t mean to listen to Spencer’s side of the conversation but he can’t help due to the fact that it’s in hearing distance while he’s waiting for his coffee to brew.

“Noooo” you groan playfully “I had fun with you teaching me the other day…. I don’t want to wait.”

Spencer’s heartbeat speeds up. Something about the way she said it turned him on. But he wasn’t daring enough to play into that type of conversation so he kept the discussion going onto the normal path.

“Do you want to meet somewhere and we can play?” He eyed hotch as he made his way back to the seat from the coffee area.

“Oh.. yeah I guess that’s fine.” You answered nonchalantly, petting Luna who was softly purring on you.

“Did you have something else in mind?” He asked, a little afraid of a sexual answer and how he would respond.

“I- never mind. It sounds stupid.” You giggle out of embarrassment and shake your head.

“Just… say it?” He gently pushed you to say what you had in mind.

“I was just gonna say.. we could- I don’t know.. hang out at my place? I was just thinking I could repay you with baking lessons since you said you weren’t the best at cooking. I don’t know- it sounds stupid-“

“No!” He says almost a little too loudly making Hotch look up at him once again. He mouths sorry before getting back to his conversation. “It actually sounds like a great idea. Maybe we could even watch Doctor Who?”

“Yeah I heard it was a great show.” You smile.

“It is! They actually have reruns every Sunday so it looks like tomorrow is the perfect time to do it.” He speaks excitedly

“Yeah- okay. It’s a date then.” You felt butterflies in your stomach being able to say that after a really long time.

On the other hand Spencer’s chest, neck, and cheeks were flushed with red. He was trying to cool himself off while simultaneously respond in a cool, calm and collected manner.

“Yup sounds great.” He clears his throat. “What time will that be?”

“What time do the reruns start?” You asked

“Around 6” he replied swiftly.

“Then around 6” you chuckle. He smiles to himself.

“I’ll see you then” he says.

“Okay. I’ll text you my address around 4, tomorrow.” You inform him.

“Alright. Bye.”

“Bye” you hung up before he had the chance to.

Spencer stared into space with an ear to ear smile. In reality he was staring at the table in front of him.

“Hey” says Derek, who was on his way to the bathroom.

It snaps Spencer out of his dazed staring.

“What are you smiling at?” He inquired.

“A joke.” Spencer comes up with. For some reason that’s always his excuse. “Do you want to hear-“

“Nope I think I’m good” he walks into the bathroom.

Spencer’s stomach feels more than just butterflies. It was one thing to just hang out at the bakery. But now he was going to your house tomorrow and he couldn’t be any more excited than he already was. Does this mean you guys could consider each other as friends?

He sure hoped so.

About your post talking about people infantilisy Spencer. That's exactly what 90% of CM fans from ig / tiktok community do lol They love treat Reid like a child. I'm always seeing comments like "I hate Emily cause she talked to Spencer like that" "Hotch is so mean to Reid, that's why I don't like him" It's so annoying. He's an adult with 3 fucking PhDs! He needs to be treat like a grown up man, not like a kid.

Also, I don't understand why some of his fans can't accept the fact that he IS autistic. Sounds ableism to me 👀

I don't actually have Instagram or tiktok installed at the moment so fortunately I miss out on the worst of it but ugh I can imagine. They have valid criticisms about the others cutting him off because they can be quite rude about it sometimes but like you said, Reid is a full grown up! Yeah, they could be nicer but also I think he can handle it. Just because he's autistic doesn't mean he's a child - he went to high-school at age 9, if he has a problem with how the team treat him he's definitely able to have said something. We've seen him get sharp with people in canon so it's not like he can't.

Also people babying him also sometimes leads to his actions rarely being criticised while everyone else's treatment of him is fully scrutinised. And yeah it's fandom, it's all for fun, but it's just a pattern I've seen.

But yes, he's an incredibly intelligent adult and fully capable of defending himself. He's not a baby.

I have not seen any people on tumblr denying Reid is autistic (though now I've probably jinxed myself) which is good, though I suppose you could argue the show itself never explicitly confirmed it. Just had that one line in season 1 about autistic tendencies and in 6x16 him slightly connecting to Sammy because every autistic person bonds with every other autistic person, right? Though I don't understand how you could not think he's autistic given he's a bundle of walking stereotypes. Definitively does seem ableist to insist he isn't, especially since he's literally the smartest person in criminal minds.

Soak Up The Sun - Fun Things/Facts

My favorite thing about writing my fic so far is exploring the relationships between my OC and the team. For example, I LOVE writing Emily and Derek the most, because they definitely have brother/sister vibes, and they remind me of my relationship with my own brother. I also want that for Kassidy: to have them there as her older “siblings” in a way. I especially love how close Kassidy and Emily are becoming. 

(I’m going to be writing a lot about Kassidy’s relationships with the team so I’m gonna put a read more thing here now.)

Emily and Kassidy stay up too late talking on the phone, talking about boys (and girls) they used to like when they were younger, telling stories of embarrassing things they’ve done. They go on breakfast dates all the time, sometimes inviting the other BAU girls along, but sometimes it’s just the two of them. Emily convinces Kass to adopt a cat so her apartment won’t feel so lonely. The two of them like to go to pet stores and buy matching sweaters for their cats. They also constantly text each other dumb things that are on their minds. “I saw a fat squirrel today” “!!!no way!” Kassidy helps set up a private facebook for Emily so they can share pictures to each other (this is placed in 2010/2011 so they don’t get instagrams just yet). They love taking selfies with their cats, as well as taking pictures of the sunsets they see when on the jet. They start collecting postcards from the towns they visit and write them to each other, so when they get home they have fun mail to look at. Emily’s ringtone is the Kim Possible theme song.

And then there’s Rossi, who’s one of the team Dads(TM). I like to think Rossi sees Kassidy as the child he never had (SPOILER ALERT before Joy gets introduced to the story LMAO), so he’s extra sweet on her- and spoils her rotten. She never asks him for anything but eventually he starts buying stuff for her and paying for groceries to be delivered to her apartment and she’s like “???? what are you doing?” And he’s like “you’re my daughter now I am taking care of you.” LOL. Of course later on when Joy joins the BAU fam Rossi introduces her to Kassidy like “Joy this is my other daughter” and Joy is like “Cool I have a sister!” And Kass is like “I’m not actually his daughter tho-” “shush Kass you’re my kid, now smile for the camera.” She puts up with it and accidentally calls him “dad” once in front of everyone and it’s that whole scene from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and she’s like “no i didn’t why would I do that” lol. Rossi puts her in his phone as “Sunshine” since he’s the first one to ever call her that. She has him in as “Team Dad.” His ringtone is That’s Amore by Dean Martin. “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore~”

And then Hotch is like the other Dad(TM) who just wants to watch Kassidy and Spencer succeed at life and must protect them at all costs. Kassidy babysits for him a lot and freaking LOVES Jack. She becomes his unofficial “big sister” and lives for it. She loves taking Jack and Henry to the movies and park and is the best babysitter JJ and Hotch can find. Hotch has found her sleeping on his couch one to many times and just puts a blanket over her and lets her stay the night. He gets her coffee in the morning as a thank you for watching his son. At first she was embarrassed but eventually she gets a key to Hotch’s apartment, since he has a key to hers, and she just shows up sometimes just cause she can. She’s bad at buying groceries for herself but you bet your last dime she’s buying healthy foods for Hotch and Jack. She stocks their pantry FULL with foods, often showing Aunt Jessica where she hid the snacks so Jack (and Hotch) don’t try to get to them. She ends up with her own drawer in Hotch’s room that has some of her clothes and shower stuff in it cause of how often she’s over there. Her ringtone for Hotch is the COPS theme song LMAO.

Morgan is Kassidy’s certified Big Brother(TM) and he will hurt anyone who hurts his baby sister. He takes on the role so naturally around her and loves her for making him feel life can be normal sometimes. He has to tease her a lot about her crush on Reid, but that’s what big brothers do, ya know? The two of them like to go out for drinks and dancing when they get home from cases. Gotta remind themselves that life is beautiful and fun too. She buys Morgan a bunch of books and DVDs that she thinks he’ll like, and he always promises that he definitely read/watched them, but she knows he didn’t. Except when she buys him Tangled on DVD, telling him that it’s her FAVORITE Disney movie of ALL TIME. She knows he watched that one because she hears him humming some of the songs that got stuck in his head. They also hav the complete opposite taste in music, often fighting over what station to listen to when in the car. Usually Hotch or Emily has to tell them to knock it off or they’ll end up hitting each other (nicely). Kassidy HATES running, but she gets up at 6am on Saturdays to run with Morgan. She’s getting more stamina because of it, but she won’t admit it. Her ringtone for him is her favorite song, “Soak Up The Sun” by Sheryl Crow. 

Penelope and Kassidy are besties for sure. They have girls night once a week when they can, binging on ice cream and watching lame rom-coms (Kass can’t handle secondhand embarrassment movies but she’ll watch them if Penny asks- hiding her face in her hands when those scenes are on). They like to go shopping together, hyping each other up in dressing rooms and picking out cute/colorful clothes. They always do brunch when they go shopping. They spend a LOT of money when they’re together, and have no filter whatsoever. Kassidy tends to get drunk by the end of the night if she was with Penny, which is always odd considering at the beginning of the day she swore she wouldn’t drink anything. She ends up taking a whole small chest for herself at Penny’s apartment, keeping clothes and toiletries in there. Penelope joked once that Kassidy had her stuff scattered all around the state of Virginia. She wasn’t wrong. Kassidy’s ringtone for her is “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & The Waves. They also text cute pictures of baby animals to each other a lot. 

JJ and Kassidy love getting mani-pedi’s together. And when they’re together it’s either a whole spa day, or they’re at the firing range- there is no in between. No matter what they do, a lot of money will be missing from their accounts at the end of the day, much to Will (and Rossi’s) dismay. Kassidy see’s JJ as a sister too, but more like a twin/super close best friend type of sister, not an older sister like she see’s Emily. She’s totally a Jemily shipper (as a joke, but like <w<). They like to lay in the grass in JJ’s backyard and stare at the clouds, talking about all the places they’ll visit someday. One time they planned a whole trip to Greece, pulling out their phones and looking up ticket prices for the plane ride, hotel, sight-seeing and more. They haven’t fulfilled that trip yet, but they sometimes mention it to one another, reminding themselves that they will go. Someday. JJ’s ringtone is the opening Disney theme to every movie ever.

And then there’s Spencer <3 From the beginning she felt kind of drawn to him, his mannerisms, his love of knowledge- all of it. They like to get coffee together on their days off and trade books (Kassidy had to buy a bunch of new books recently so she had more to trade with him). She’s been to his apartment quite a few times, watching French movies and Earth Documentaries. They just like being in each others company (uwu). Kassidy probably texts Spencer the most, even though he detests texting- but that doesn’t stop him from replying. Her text tone for him is R2-D2 beeping (even though he says he’s not really a fan of Star Wars). During cases they’re almost always paired up together to work on geo-profiling and victimology, sitting close at the table with their legs just barely touching, their feet lightly pushing into each other every once in a while to remind the other that they’re still there. They’re totally NOT playing footsie (they totally are). Her ringtone for Spencer is the Star Trek opening theme. “Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship, Enterprise.”

Kassidy hasn’t met some of the other fun characters of the show yet, but eventually she’ll love all of them too <3 This fic takes place in season 6, after Hayley dies and right before Emily “dies,” ;) ANYWAYS I wanted to rant about this a little so um, thanks if you read it?
