My bored cracked brain joke try amuse myself in this pandemic isolation thinking about why the jttw 1996 production rushed out the final ep, "sanzang & wukong is so gay (thanks ep 39 to 41 arc), that when they in heaven they pretty much having honeymoon there, talk eye to eye smile at each other and feed peaches to each other" - and then the producer be like wait that's too gay, cancel that idea, let just rush end they become buddha & tahts how the ep end like the novel, no aftermath ep!

Cracked brain anon (continuation) - I sometime wonder why jttw 1998 producer rushed out the ending, (either they maybe out of money budget for that) beczu so far the eps they make, they always wild on adding stuff in the story, so I'm surprise they super rushed the final ep (in my opinion it's rushed), I thought they will make a aftermath story episode what those group will have(even just for 1 extra ep) since the production team good at those, but then again maybe becuz the budget lol

You’re not alone. A lot of fans wanted to see more after the final episode. I also think at least 1 aftermath ep. would have been nice, especially given what a HIT the series was (even if S2 wasn’t as popular as S1). It might be budget, but it also might just be because of the number of episodes the studio/channel ordered. I think 41 eps was the maximum, and they weren’t allowed to write more in order to make room for other shows slated to air after jttw ended. That’s what I think anyway!
