Writing Snippet/Preview
OKAY OKAY OKAY, so I’ve been toying with the idea of sharing some snippets from the very long (very, VERY LONG) LokixOFC fic that I’ve been working on for the over a year (The fic’s working title has been the Trickster, but it very well may change UPDATE - IT HAS AN OFFICIAL TITLE! It's called "When Everything's Made to be Broken") ... And uh, well, I’ve officially caved. Snippet sharing time below the cut! Context: This takes place in an AU where Loki survives the Thanos attack, joins the Avengers, and they defeat Thanos at the battle of Wakanda. No snap happens. The Avengers are both superheroes and public figures, almost like celebrities? Avengers tower still is a thing because, well, it’s convenient.
This is from Chapter 3, which is based on the song “Some Nights” by Fun. This is when the Avengers first meet Theo (OFC), told from Loki’s perspective. This is only part of the chapter. Warnings... uh, snark. Lots of snark. Maybe some swearing?
The lead up to the scene: Mysterious shadow beasts have been attacking Earth, and because Theo has experience with the creatures and magical powers, she is pestered by Nick Fury and Maria Hill to help the Avengers get rid of the creatures. In turn, they promise her that they will help her reunite with her family, who Theo had presumed were dead for years. Up until this point, she refused to join the Avengers and kept her magical abilities under wraps, instead working as an Emergency Medicine doctor.
Disclaimers: No, I don’t own Marvel. Do not translate this fic or repost it on any websites/blogs/anywhere other than here; I have not posted this on AO3 since it’s not actually finished yet.
be nice please I haven’t posted fan fiction in eleven years but I wanted to test the waters
I’m Still Not Sure What I Stand For
“Dr. Theolene Amaris,” Nick Fury’s voice rang out in the meeting room as a picture of a lithe woman appeared on screen. “ - also known as the Silver Shadow, the Celestial Phantom, and the Cursed Moon.”
It was only a few hours earlier that everyone was notified of the mandatory briefing, which was described as “urgent.” Moments before, Loki found himself pondering the nature of the briefing while everyone packed into a bright conference room. In front of each Avenger, a manila file folder sat prepared for them with information related to the subject in question. The faces of his team members shifted as they developed their first impressions on the subject of their briefing, her likeness blown up on the screen at the front of the room.
Despite exceeding the capacity of the space, Loki managed to secure his usual seat in the back, conveniently located near the door for an easy escape. It was a habit that lingered from his earlier days in the tower, but having an easy escape from what were normally tedious meetings was still a benefit that Loki took advantage of more often than not. Even better, there was an empty seat next to him, lessening the otherwise inevitable sense of claustrophobia that would have eventually reared its ugly head.
She really didn’t look like much. The only noteworthy feature in her appearance was the thick mane of silver hair that tumbled down her back, stopping just above her waist. Otherwise, she appeared to be like any other Midgardian: clad in all-black, a beanie atop her head with black sunglasses obscuring her features as she walked down the street. If Loki passed her in real life, there was no way he’d offer her a second glance, or even a first.
With that in mind, it was safe to assume that in this first image, she was practicing urban camouflage – blending in with her surroundings by altering her appearance and attire to mimic those around her. The less attention she drew to herself, the easier it would be to slip in and out unnoticed; it also created an additional challenge if anyone sought to locate her. As someone who’d had plenty of experience with stealth, Loki already had an idea of what her skill sets may include.
Stark studied the first image of her, brow furrowed as he spoke up. “Hell of a name, but she doesn’t look like much. What’s her doctorate in? Bad poetry? Sad music? Scaring parents?”
“Emergency Medicine.” Fury glared at Stark while Agent Hill changed the display to a second photograph. “Assuming she isn’t a serious threat is both the first and last mistake you’ll make about her.”
The second image must have been captured in combat. She crouched down as though she just landed from a maneuver, the hood of a cloak masking the top half of her face as she held a black longsword composed entirely of what appeared to be magic in one hand. Her other hand glowed black as it touched the ground, ready to launch some kind of spell. Some blood was smeared across her jawline, a scowl across her lips as a pair of corpses lay in the background. Unlike the first photo, now he could see a scar that ran down past the bottom of her lip, almost giving her the appearance of a permanently split lip. A second scar cut through the outside edge of her eyebrow, angling out towards her temple.
One detail piqued his interest: of all the realms that Loki had visited, he did not recognize where she was. He had to give it to Fury – this picture certainly made her appear far more intimidating.
“She specializes in shadow magic—“
The room erupted as all the Avengers fired off questions at the director.
“Shadow magic? Wait, is she the one behind those shadow beast-things we’ve been fighting lately?”
“What does she want?”
“Is she working for Dr. Doom?”
“Did HYDRA give her those powers?”
“What kind of villain studies emergency medicine?”
“Maybe this will help explain things.” Agent Hill tapped a screen as the image before them went to a video.
Loki had seen this video before - it was nearly impossible to miss, having been plastered all across the news for weeks. A Midgardian woman single-handedly eliminated an entire swarm of the shadowy monsters that had plagued New York City recently, all while in a subway car. Somehow, no one knew who she was or the methods used to exterminate the pests. It was obvious from the video that it was magic of some kind, though it was different from any magic Loki had ever encountered in his life and it did not resemble anything he had ever studied. Though he hadn’t admitted it to anyone, he was curious to meet this Midgardian and learn her abilities for himself.
Of course, that was assuming she was Midgardian. There were many species who appeared to be Midgardian, though biologically they were different. Usually, it was easy for Loki to sense if someone was Aesir, Midgardian, or otherwise; however, no indication that she was anything extraterrestrial revealed itself to him.
No, this woman must have been Midgardian.
“That’s her?” Romanoff inquired, arching a perfectly groomed brow at Hill.
“Wait wait wait, I thought she was the bad guy, but she’s killing the shadowy monsters here…” Wilson said, gawking at the screen. “Unless she’s really crazy and likes killing her own, this doesn’t make sense.”
“I’m telling you, if she’s the big bad and studied Emergency Medicine, she’s definitely got a screw loose,” Barnes said, “and that’s coming from the guy with a vibranium arm.”
“This incident was weeks ago - how is it that we are just now learning of her identity?” Rhodes interjected.
“She is not our enemy,” Agent Hill finally explained, raising her voice over the incessant chatter. “She has agreed to help the Avengers find the root cause of the shadow creature problem and exterminate the beasts.”
Stunned silence permeated the room. The ticking of the clock above Fury’s perpetual scowl only emphasized the blaring lack of sound.
Loki could count on one hand the number of times he had ever witnessed total silence from the group; to see the group go from so animated to so silent nearly gave him whiplash.
“She’s joining the Avengers?” Stark’s disbelief was painted all over his face. “Emo queen Rapunzel is joining the Avengers?”
“Not exactly,” Agent Carter said, “She is coming on board specifically to help with the shadow creatures.”
“If she’s so powerful, why isn’t she already a part of the Avengers?” Banner asked, leaning in as he met Fury’s glare.
“This is a temporary arrangement.” Fury crossed his arms. “We struck a deal with her.”
“So she comes in and helps with the shadow creatures, and then what - she just disappears?” Rogers pressed, “Don’t you think someone with expertise in shadow magic should be kept under close watch?”
“You’d be a fool to think she hasn’t been on SHIELD’s radar for a long time.” Fury crossed his arms and glowered at the group. “She turned down past offers to join the Avengers. Your mission is to convince her to stay.”
“Convince her to stay?” Romanoff shot Fury a wary glance, while others regarded the director as though he grew another head.
“Assuming all goes well, we want her to remain on the team after the shadow creatures are eliminated,” Agent Hill explained. “She is highly adept in both physical and magical combat, and she has expertise in stealth operations. She fills in some key areas of the team that have been lacking, while her versatility allows her to fit into a variety of smaller teams with ease. However, we need you to convince her to stay.”
“Dr. Amaris cut her teeth in a different realm,” Fury added. “She has trained with threats far more powerful than what we have encountered here on earth, and fought to survive in far worse scenarios. Her experiences and insight would be invaluable in our operations.”
“Okay, but if you had to strike a deal with her, that still raises some questions…” Banner hesitated, raising an eyebrow at Fury. “It makes it sound like she wasn’t exactly keen to help protect the world.”
“Her skills are far too valuable to be left unutilized.” Fury glared at Banner. “What I was going to say before someone interrupted my briefing is that she is also an incredibly powerful healer.“
“How do we know we can trust her?” Wilson asked. “I’m no wizard, but shadow magic sounds like trouble at best.”
Barton agreed. “Besides, Nat has us covered in stealth.”
“You know how to make a woman feel appreciated.” Romanoff coyly winked at Barton.
While Loki wasn’t one to regularly agree with Wilson, for once he made a good point: this was something Loki was unfamiliar with, and at the very least it sounded dubious.
“Because if I wanted to kill you, you would already be dead.”
Every head in the room snapped towards the entrance, eyes wider than dinner plates as they gawked at the source of the voice.
Leaning against the closed conference room door was the subject of their briefing.
In real life, Theolene Amaris was smaller than Loki expected - not short by any means, as she appeared to be slightly taller than Maximoff and Romanoff; she was probably the average height for a Midgardian woman. However, she was lanky, with elongated limbs and a slight figure. She carried her head high with relaxed posture, one leg crossed in front of the other as she leaned on the doorframe with hands loosely tucked in her pockets. She didn’t seem to be intimidated by the strong personalities in front of her, even as she crashed their briefing.
Dr. Amaris sauntered into the room, eyes scanning over each of the Avengers with a smirk on her face. When she reached Loki she paused, quirking her head to the side as the curl of her lips increased. “Looks like one of us might need to change.”
At first, Loki was perplexed by her remark. Upon a second glance, it became obvious. They both wore almost identical outfits: black button-up shirts with the sleeves rolled to the elbows, tucked into tailored black trousers that showed a bit of ankle, and black Oxford shoes.
He couldn’t help the snort that escaped him, a smile creeping across his own features as he allowed his shoulders to relax. It was unusual for someone to make him laugh, especially on a first encounter. And to shock the Avengers in such a way? Well, he certainly was intrigued.
“It seems we have similar tastes in apparel,” Loki commented coolly, wondering about the nature of her remark.
Just then, Theo pulled a hand out of her pocket and snapped her fingers, instantly changing her outfit into a pair of ripped black jeans, a faded gray vintage Queen shirt, and a pair of black sneakers.
Loki could feel the magic pouring off of her - while she was no god, it was apparent to him that Fury wasn’t kidding when he said she was much more powerful than she let on.
“There, that’s better.” She dropped into the seat beside Loki, leaning back and kicking her feet up onto the table before sticking out one hand. “You must be Loki?”
“Indeed, and you must be Dr. Amaris.” Loki offered a wry grin, shaking her hand with a firm grip. “A fellow sorcerer, I see.”
“You could say that,” She winked, returning the gesture with a firm grip. “Call me Theo. Dr. Amaris is what my residents call me.”
From the opposite side of Theo, Thor beamed at the sight of his brother being surprisingly friendly to the Avengers’ newest addition. It took every ounce of self-restraint for Loki to prevent himself from rolling his eyes at his older brother.
“Pleasure to meet you, Theo.”
“Don’t get any funny ideas with Rapunzel here, Reindeer Games.” Stark warned, clearly having already settled on a nickname for the newest team member.
Loki’s attention diverted to Stark, sending invisible daggers at the man. Even though they had come a long way from the distrust present when Loki first joined the team, there were certainly still moments where Stark got on his nerves.
This time it was Theo’s turn to snort.
“Rapunzel? That’s the best nickname you’ve got, Tin Man?” Theo cocked one eyebrow at the billionaire as she laughed, brushing a piece of hair over her shoulder. “I may have long hair, but good luck with trying to lock me up in this tower.”
“Watch out, or I might invent something so I can–”
“-- Then again, you named your AI system FRIDAY, so I shouldn’t be surprised,” She continued, unfazed by Stark’s threat. “Seriously, what the hell kind of name is that?”
“Says the person named Theolene...”
“First of all, I just told you - I go by Theo, not Theolene. Second, I can’t help it that my mother has terrible taste in names. Third, Loki’s helmet has horns, not reindeer antlers. For a genius-billionaire-playboy-philanthropist, you should know the difference.” Theo turned to the other Avengers. “And while I’m correcting people, I don’t specialize in shadow magic. I specialize in celestial magic, of which shadow magic is a subset. Dr. Doom is a joke, HYDRA wishes they gave me these powers, and my refusal to become an Avenger has nothing to do with a lack of desire to protect people, it’s because I don’t want to spend my time playing superhero when I can be more useful as a doctor. Although whichever one of you suggested I had a screw loose - Bucky, I believe - was probably right. At least, my cousin would agree with you. He’s pissed that I agreed to this.”
If there were two words that best described the collective response, “utter bewilderment” would be Loki’s choice.
“Wait a minute—“ Wilson blurted out, “How long have you been listening to our briefing? Have you been here this whole time?”
“Long enough to know you are just as skeptical of me as I am of you. It’s nothing personal, I know - I would be skeptical of me too! still, this has been enlightening.” Theo rose to her feet, gliding back to the entrance. She spun around, bowing with a dramatic flourish while flashing a cheshire grin at the crowd. “See you next Monday for your press conference!”
With a flick of her wrist, a series of black runes appeared all over her arms, flowing down her limbs like a stream of water. When they reached her fingertips, they rose into the air and evolved, surrounding her until she was obscured from view; in a flash of white, she disappeared, leaving nothing but a faint shimmer. The entire process took at most a few seconds, but the effect lingered far longer.
It was a finale to the encounter that was almost as dramatic as her introduction.
If Loki’s instincts were correct, she was just getting started.

Heya lads, a couple life updates for you as I've been pretty silent on this account and I feel I need to explain myself a bit.
I'm currently in uni doing creative writing (second year!) And it's kind of taken over my life so I'm not often working on fanfic anymore and I have to focus more on original work. I am however reediting my For Pity LokixOFC fanfiction because I've (in my opinion) improved in writing and I want to have my work reflect that.
I'm also now a dude, autistic and adhd riddled. I mean I was always those things but now I have words to the feeling which has been incredibly turbulent (thank you 4 year waiting list to speak to a therapist about being diagnosed Transgender).
I'm not abandoning this blog, what would all those poor p*rn bots who have recently followed me do! But I will probably be posting more original content rather than headcannons or fanfictions, however if you do have any requests pop them into my inbox and I'll see if I can get round to them.

After escaping with the Tesseract, Loki commits a few crimes and lands himself in jail, arrested by the Time Variance Authority. He is sentenced to 500 years imprisonment, but rather than serving time in the Kiln, he is instead instructed that he can reduce years off his sentence by completing assignments for the TVA. Loki and his partner and parole officer, Sophia, don’t exactly see eye to eye, but perhaps they will…in time.

Chapter 7: Ain’t Nothing But A Horned God (Loki x OFC Pairing)
"You know, super strength and natural parkour aside, that kid is really living up to his second identity," I mused as Peter popped in right after Loki and I got dressed in our daywear clothes and were about to binge watch the Orville.
"Why do you say that?" Loki asked, eyeing Peter as well.
"If you get rid spiders the humane way and just release them into the wild again, they will still find their way back in. Hand me that newspaper over here, I can fix that."
"I thought you said he was cute, isn't that a term of endearment?" he teased.
"He lost that effect when he killed the mood I was about to build up here. The fuck you want, kid?" I barked at the energetic idiot Tony loved so much.
"Mr. Stark's not here?" Peter squeaked.
"Hell if I know, ask Friday or better yet, beat it."
My trying to get rid of the kid seemed to somehow have the exact opposite effect I had hoped for, not unlike when a person that can't deal with cats walks into a room with one in it, that cat will instantly greet the hapless person and never leave them alone. Peter apparently grew a pair and turned his attention on me specifically, seeing as he apparently had met Loki while I was in captivity.
"So you're one the team now, huh? Where you from?"
I blinked at his sudden confidence. "Lynn, Lynn, the city of sin," I sang the old tune of my town.
"Where's that?"
"Near Salem," murmured Loki beside me. "No wonder you wanted to go there yesterday, you were homesick."
"You've been in my position before I'm told so I'm guessing you know how I felt."
"Why didn't you just say so?"
"That would mean admitting I actually feel things and I'm not one to catch feels here, gross."
"Have you got a superhero name yet?" asked Peter eagerly.
"I'd have to be a hero first for that to work and I'd rather not."
"Why not, its the funnest! Get to meet all kinds of people and everything!"
I wrinkled my nose in disgust. "That's supposed to convince me? Really? Tony told me you were clever too, Loki you're the god of lies, how could you let that slide? I hate people, if anything that'd push me toward antihero or even villain. Kill em all and then add em to the undead army, who's with me?!"
"You said so yourself that would take a lot of energy and convincing to make your victims part of your army," mused Loki.
"Sshh, he doesn't know that. Why are you still here if Tony's gone?" I asked Peter.
"He told me I'm welcome to hang out with the team in his absence," Peter replied confidently. "What were you two doing before I got here?"
"Having passionate s/m sex in every room we can get into, you look a bit too young to join but you're welcome to watch," I teased.
"No one gets to watch that," Loki stated stiffly. "That's for our eyes only. Don't you have homework that needs doing about this time?"
"All finished, Aunt May says I can't go out and be Spiderman till its done. Hey, Mr. Loki, Tony says you're not actually from Asgard but a planet of frost giants, is that true?"
"How astute of him to bring that up," grumbled Loki. "Yes, what of it?"
"What do Frost Giants look like?"
"Pete, hun, you don't go asking gods questions like that," I warned the kid, seeing Loki get all tense and serious. "Didn't your aunt ever tell you to stop sticking your nose in places it's likely to get broken in?"
Loki however had other thoughts though didn't look too pleased in acting on them as his once fair skin started to turn blue, green eyes became red and curious markings formed on his head and face. Peter looked absolutely excited being the obnoxiously curious kid he was but made no move nor questions and just tried to his best not to piss off the god while studying him at the same time. I however couldn't help but reach over to touch his face though he caught my wrist.
"You'll burn with frost bite if you touch a frost giant or one touches you."
"Sweety you are touching me," I noted. "My flesh is dead, hydra already tried extreme temps on me, no sweat."
He quickly let go despite my reassurance in fear he was freezing me with his touch, a blackened handprint remained where he held me for a moment before my necro-magic healed it and I was back to simply being a reanimated walking dead girl. I gently touched his face, my thumb brushing over the markings.
"People seem to think red eyes always means evil here," I mused. "Yet theres a fuckton of superheroes wearing red elsewhere, Tony, this little arachnid that needs to be swatted with a newspaper, Thor's cape. Red doesn't mean evil, it means power, anyone wearing red is displaying a power move."
"You don't wear it," Loki told me.
"Weren't you listening during my many rants? I don't make a habit of displaying what I'm capable of, that totally gives me away before I can even attack. It's all about subtlety, something spiderling here needs to work on before asking gods sensitive questions." I glared at the kid who had the grace to look a little ashamed, it was almost cute. At that point, just for funsies, I snatched the newspaper on the coffee table, quickly rolled it up and started smacking the poor boy with it. "Bad spider!" Peter made little move to defend himself though didn't seem too bothered by being whacked by a dead woman either.
"Don't break him or Tony will kick you out," Loki warned though I could tell he was just as amused by my antics as I was smacking around Peter.
"Dude can catch a bus with his bare hands while some people can barely catch them on their feet, he's fine. Ain'tcha kiddo."
"Stop calling me kid, I'm a teenager," mumbled Peter.
"Which is just another term for a kid that thinks they're an adult so really you're not helping your case here. It's adorable how easy it is for you to dig your own grave, even if it with a beach shovel."
"Maybe he's more likely to break you if you keep teasing him," Loki noted.
I arched an eyebrow at him. "I find your lack of faith disturbing."
At the reference, Peter seemed to perk up again. "You've seen those movies?"
"Sweety, I might have been locked up for 5 years but even I know that everyone's seen at least one of them that's still alive."
"Why were you locked up, are you a criminal?"
"What did I tell you about asking sensitive questions, Loki, give me back my spider smasher."
"She was kept by Hydra, no you will not be beating on Tony's favorite project, especially not when there's surveilance everywhere in the tower."
I rolled my eyes at Loki and glared at him. "Meaniepants."
"Do all necromancers look like you?" Peter piped up.
My glare shifted to him then. "Look like me? You really wanna go there? I might be dead but I can still kick your ass, Spiderboy."
"It's spiderman," he grumbled.
"Not with that attitude it ain't."
He shot a web at me angrily and while I knew he never actually meant any harm and I wasn't quick enough to dodge it, I really hated spiderwebs since the first time I walked into one face first, unable to see it. Death magic rushed to the spot he hit me and essentially dissolved/rotted away whatever the hell the webs were made of so they fell apart and off me. Loki looked at me curiously while Peter looked just a little bit horrified. "Try that again, Pete, I dare you, I double dare you motherfucker." My eyes went white while blackened veins popped up around them. That got Peter more than horrified and he backed away with repetitive squeaky apologies. Seeing as he got the message, my face relaxed back to its normalness. "I fucking hate spiderwebs."
"I'm curious, if that was an enemy in front of you and not Peter, what would you have done?" asked Loki.
I turned over to the god and smirked maniacally. "Point me in the direction of one and you might find out."
"You didn't do this when we raided the Hydra base the second time."
"They weren't enemies, they're minions of them. Peter you're really cute but your curiosity is harshing my buzz here, lay off on the sugar and either buzz off or calmly wait for Tony to return. You're like ice cream to me right now, so good but so not worth the brain-freeze it comes with."
"If you're always getting a brain-freeze then you're eating it wrong," countered Peter smugly.
"There's hardly a wrong way to eat ice cream, kiddo."
"Um yeah there is, any way that's not right from a cone. Surely you jest."
"Prefer it with a spoon so I don't make a bigger mess of myself than I already do...and don't call me Shirely."
"Call me biased but I believe the spoon is the better option if we're talking the same food she was wolfing down right after she moved here," Loki noted. "I can't imagine a better way to eat it out of its original tub."
"Plus you can fend off intruders and late night food thieves with a spoon, kinda defenseless since you'd eat the cone after and then you got nothing but a sticky mess to contend with," I added.
"Hold up, that was you that ate my moosetracks ice cream?" Peter squeaked.
"Tony said he bought it and therefore it was his ice cream but he also said his helado es mi helado so not yours at all. Also Thor was the one that finished it because unlike some other Asgardians, he asked nicely."
Loki scoffed and playfully glared at me with crossed arms. "I do and take what I want, there's no need for formalities." His response was a well aimed throw pillow to the face because why else would you call them throw pillows if not for their intended purpose? "Are you sure you want to do that, love?"
"Am I sure? Kinda late to be asking that after the fact, init? But seeing as it already happened, I'm gonna go with yes I am, whatcha gonna do about it?"
"I have to ask if you're sure you wanna challenge the God of Mischief like that?" Peter asked me worriedly.
"Firstly, what's with people asking me if I'm sure, of the three of us which one here is still a virgin and learning the ropes of kicking ass and taking names? Secondly, if you're calling him that based solely on Norse Mythology he's also the goddess of eight legged foals and father of a world ending snake and thus far the only thing close to those myths is the bigass snake in his pants but that's none of my business."
Loki looked beyond amused at me both calling him out on his mythology and representation of it and that not so subtle compliment that may or may not have boosted his ego to the size of Yggdrasil and all the nine realms combined. "While I'm pleased with the last statement about me, I can very much assure I'm the master of mischief, that much of the myth is 100 percent true, Thor can attest to that and any surviving Asgardians besides him that know of me."
"Just because you are known for something specific does not make you the master of it. By that logic, I'm the Goddess of Zombies."
"Hela beat you to that by at least a thousand years," Loki argued.
I glared at my lover and eyed the nearest throw pillow in contemplation, maybe I should hold it against his face gently and then apply pressure. "Sure, if there really was just one realm of gods to go with that might work in your favor."
"What do you believe in then? Where does your faith lie if not in yourself?" he challenged.
"In my life, in my experience and in my line of work there is only kind of gods I follow in faith and those are the gods of death."
Whether he caught onto it or knew my line of thought somehow or not, I couldnt tell but his next response was damn near perfect. "And what do you pray to the gods of death."
I grinned wickedly. "Not today, bitch."
"I'm hurt you wouldn't consider praying for me on your knees," purred Loki.
"The only way to get me on my knees is by taking away what keeps me standing and at the moment you've become my reason to stand these days," I replied smoothly, catching him off guard with the claim of more mortal devotion. "Would think that's obvious considering I come alive at your touch."
We stared at each other for a long silent moment, Loki looking somewhere between admiration and something else I couldn't quite place, his eyes shining like freshly cut and polished emeralds. He also looked torn between wanting to shove me against the nearest wall and makeout or reply with a smoother, wittier comeback because this dude was as desperate to have me as he was to have the last word and prove he was the master of mischief. Men in a nutshell, doesn't matter where they're from or how hard they are to kill. Speaking of things hard to kill, the arachnaboy was still present in the room, watching the two of us verbally spar/flirt before something apparently clicked in his head and he frowned, turning toward me.
"H-how exactly would you know if I was a virgin or not?"
I cackled at his attempt to call me out and act at least a little more confident. "Elementary my dear Parker. Besides the fact you both look and act a day before you're legally of age in this country? It might have something to do with your reaction to Loki's pants snake- there it is! You look different shades of uncomfortable hearing about just the size of someone's dong. Guys usually are either confident with what they got or pretend they are long enough to snag someone to use it on and hope for the best...There's also the fact regardless of age and powers you're radiating with life unsullied, I can sense it on you. Lemme know when you are legal and I might be able to help you with that though." I winked at him, causing yet another priceless reaction from Peter and a scowl from Loki.
"I'm not overly fond of sharing."
"Don't knock til you tried it, besides, I could be six fix under by the time he's open for business, right Pete?" I nudged the poor kid with an elbow for good measure, it was too much fun messing with him.
"I'm sorry, I'm just getting so many mixed signals from you right now I gotta sit down and um wait for Mr. Stark."
I watched the kid scoot away to another room, leaving us alone for once and I grinned and relaxed, turning my attention back to Loki. "And that is how you get rid of a spider properly, if you can't kill it, make it wish it never came in."
"That whole charade was to scare him off?" asked Loki incredulously.
"He's just so precious and innocent, his ears must be burning from the naughty stuff by now. I mean yeah, if he was legal I still wouldn't mind corrupting him physically but I doubt he's got the stones to take me up on that should I be around then. Besides, there's more than one way to sacrificing a virgin these days, isn't that what you gods demand all the time?"
"I'd rather just take you on the sacrificial altar several times over till I'm the only god that can give you what you pray for," he growled.
I blinked in surprised, he was usually a little more clever and subtle in his suggestions and I somehow activated the animal in him with my incessant sexual teasing between him and Peter. "Would the couch do? I don't think the coffee table would survive despite it being solid mahogany." An uncharacteristic squeal of surprise escaped me as his response was a low growl followed closely by a master of mischief pouncing on me.

A/N: Right hello! I need to WARN YOU.
This fiction deals with an OFC that eventually realises that they is Genderfluid, using all the pronouns, but is assigned female at birth (AFAB). There will be mentions of body AND gender dysphoria due to a tragic childhood™ under the care of her biological mother/grandparents that occurred before she was in the care of Tony Stark. I do not go into graphic detail with the abuse, but it is mentioned.
This is a slow burn fic planned out to be a LONG story so the OC and Loki will not get together until a little into the story. Instead, I wanted to focus on building their friendship at first. Eventually (if all goes to plan) I intend to have the OC identify as Genderfluid, but unlike Loki the OC won't have magic and therefore will always be female in terms of physical sex.
While this might seem like a bit of a spoiler I like to forewarn people about these things as they can be potential triggers!
Anyway I got the idea of a character in Iron-Man style armour, and then I thought it would be fun to just have a Stark OC. I've got the timeline lined up so the ages to allign with canon. Masterlist | AO3 Link |
The avengers weren’t sure what they should do with Loki, Odin in his infinite wisdom had ‘bestowed’ his younger son upon them in a long-winded speech that left Barton spacing out, Tony disinterested and distracted and Bruce trying to work out how such an old man seemed so strong.
Only Natasha and Steve were paying attention by the end, the TL; DR was that Odin didn’t want to deal with Loki, so now he was the avenger's problem.
Nick Fury suggested locking him up, only to retract the idea a few minutes later, Loki was dammed persuasive, he could seduce any guard sent to keep him under lock and key. They did not know the full extent of his magical abilities and while he was bound (somehow, Odin didn’t bother explaining what they had done to Loki and merely assumed the Avengers wouldn’t care to know the finer points) they didn’t know the limits of the binding.
Thor claimed his brother could shapeshift, so a prison would need to be airtight otherwise a snake or spider could happily slip out. Then there was the issue that he was a god with god strength and probably the second smartest person in the room, or maybe the smartest, but Tony wasn’t about to admit that to the god.
All in all Odin had left them with a mess and the only support came in the form of a confused, angry and betrayed Thor. Which was never good.
This was compounded by the inescapable feeling that they only had half the story, why did Loki invade Earth? Tony had theories, theories that would make Clint punch him, but he couldn’t shake a feeling that something was off about the god of mischief.
Thor would agree, or not. Their relationship was never explained, it turned out communication was not a gift the gods of Asgard possessed much to the chagrin of the Avengers.
So this was the plan, Loki was to stay locked up in the tower, well only on certain floors. He would share a floor with Thor, where he would have his own bedroom with en-suite bathroom, but Fury was rather insistent that Loki shouldn’t be made too comfortable.
Tony was starting to wish he had never gotten involved he would make a poor jailer. He wasn’t responsible enough, Jarvis as amazing as he was would be worse, Loki had tricks, he could trick Jarvis.
It was a fucking mess, made much worse by not having the facts nor support to keep Loki. What were they supposed to do with the god? He was going to outlive them all, did Odin expect them to pass Loki off to other people? To keep him locked away for the rest of his life?
He would rather face the Chitauri again, or Vanko and Hammer or even Stane. Loki was more dangerous than all of them combined and what made it worse was the fact that Soleil was also living in the tower now.
He shouldn’t have suggested she live here, Fuck, he needed a drink or a whole bottle. The billionaire found Natasha and Bruce already at the bar, her with Vodka and Bruce with something fruity looking.
Tony settled for whisky and wondered what the fuck he was supposed to do now.
Loki was still chained up when Soleil walked onto the floor, the god recognised the human mortal from his research leading up to the invasion. He had gathered information on mortals who may pose a threat to his plans and worked to see them brought together (in brief moments of clarity before once again the mind stone seized control of him), Stark’s life was short as it was (by Asgardian standards) was quite fascinating.
Naturally Loki looked into every aspect of the potential avengers lives seeking weaknesses that would bring the avengers to him. The easiest targets were family, friends, loved ones who could be exploited as they had few or no protections. Soleil quite literally was the weakest link in the Stark equation.
Though he had come to realise she could have been a great asset to him should he have had need of an engineer with a deep and vested interest in space. Rather odd that SHIELD would have such detailed files on Soleil, almost as if they had been considering her as an alternative to her father and Iron-Man. Though what use such a fragile human would be was beyond the god.
She hadn’t noticed him, to busy tapping away on a screen and wrinkling her brow at something that vexed her. He watched her as she grabbed herself a bottle of water, she was halfway back to the elevator when she finally paused and turned to him.
“You look like shit,” she said after a moments pause looking him up and down as he remained trapped and bound.
He’d be offended if he had the energy, he felt like shit, months, years? Trapped in the clutches of Thanos and his black order, leading the invasion, not resting or sleeping in weeks, months, his meals just enough to keep him alive but never satisfied, he could not even recall if the paste he had been given (and reluctantly eaten after too long starving) had even had a taste to it.
“As you mortals say, that is pot calling the kettle black,” he attempted to sound above her, casual to the point of nonchalance.
“Yeah but I have an excuse for looking like shit, what’s your excuse?” she asked him sipping her water, he tried not to look hopeful that she might share something with him. Even lukewarm tap water would be bliss compared to whatever liquids the Black Order had supplied him with.
“The beast you call Hulk,” Which was partly true.
“Ooo, that explains the hole in the floor,” she cringed, “How the fuck are you still in one piece?”
“I am a god,” he reminded her.
“I had just assumed that was all a lie, you know psychological tactics?” She paused thinking it over, “Make us believe the gods are real, and you’re one of them, so you can claim dominion over us.”
“That would be a fair assumption to make,” he said leaning his forearms on his knees, “But I can assure you that I am in fact one of your gods.”
“Well you’re not my god, I don’t worship you or any gods,” she shrugged.
“We had noticed the loss of faith from mortals,” Loki nodded.
“Blame the Abrahamic religions, as soon as they went mainstream you pagan lot were more or less kicked to the curb,” she answered, before he could ask what she meant she asked, “So are you hungry? You look like you’re hungry.”
“I am in no risk of starving Stark,” he insisted.
“How’d you know I was a Stark?” she asked him suspicion finally creeping in, for someone who was supposed to be one of Midgard’s greatest minds she was rather stupid.
“SHIELD have files on you,” he said her lack of surprise told him all he needed to know, “That and you resemble your father.”
She brought a gloved hand to her jaw, “It’s the chin isn’t it?” she asked taking a couple of steps towards him, a glass and metal table separated them as she set her glass bottle down upon his surface.
“The general area yes, and you share his eyes,” he confirmed now that he could see her up close he could see the partial heterochromia, showing chocolate-brown flecks in each soft brown eye. She shared his jaw, lip and chin shape and brow colour, her hair was tucked up inside a hat, and he thought that her ears might resemble her father as well.
“But that doesn’t answer my question, never mind I’ll assume you’re hungry, what do gods eat?” she asked.
“You would feed your enemy?” he asked surprised by this, Asgard had a policy of giving their prisoners food, but basic food, food that would keep their enemies alive and nothing more. He was able to empathise with those trapped forever in those dungeons now.
“Yes because I have basic human decency,” she said shifting her weight mostly onto her left leg, “So food, what do you eat? Can you eat earth food being an alien and all that?”
“Of course I can,” now that she had brought the matter up he wondered if he could, there were some things that an Asgardian was told to avoid eating on Vanaheim and Alfheim, not that he was biologically Asgardian.
“Well if you die of an allergic reaction please don’t haunt me,” she said pulling out another device, a phone, a smartphone he recalled one of the scientists under his command using a similar device.
While she typed out whatever it was she needed Loki observed her. She was atypical in her physical body, her clothes hung from her, not because they were ill-fitting but because of sudden loss of weight. They were designed for a woman larger than what she was now, despite her rather cheerful demeanour she looked quite exhausted. She looked how he felt.
The leather right sleeve to her jacket shifted in a most bizarre manner, he watched as a small(ish) serpent poked its head out resting contently on the back of her hand. It flicked it’s slick tongue out at the air scenting Loki, she could taste him, she knew he was there.
“I think it’s safe to just get a range of food,” She said slipping her phone back into her pocket she rose her fist to her eye level, “You doin’ okay?” she asked the snake who slid back into the sleeve. “She’s shy,” she said to Loki who had not asked.
“You carry a snake on your person?” he asked curios, he could not imagine anyone in Asgard doing that. Snakes were dangerous creatures, not pets. Humans however seemed to ignore that rule quite often.
“Yeah she’s my ESA, but I make sure she’s some place warm, otherwise she’ll get ill,” Soleil explained.
“ESA?” he asked.
“Emotional support animal,” Soleil said which did not really answer Loki’s question, she needed the support of an animal for her emotional state? “They are animals to help calm and relax people. I wanted a cat, but dad says a dog would have required to much training and looking after, so he got me Macbeth.”
“How does a snake provide emotional support?” he had to ask, the concept baffled him.
“She’s a reassuring presence when the world is overwhelming,” Soleil answered.
To the god it was still a strange concept, but his curiosity got the better of him, “May I see her then?” he asked.
“Um, sure?” Soleil gently shook her arm, Macbeth got the message, as loathed as she was to leave the warmth of the jacket she was all too happy to slither her way around Soleil’s shoulders until she was hanging lazily.
Gently lifting the snake off her shoulders she set the snake down on the sofa, wise to keep a distance from the god of mischief who remained shackled and bound. Macbeth lifted herself up fascinated by this new thing, this god in her home, she stared at Loki curious to know why he was here.
⸢You are not human⸥ said the snake curios to know what he was, he smelled familiar, like kin yet was clearly more than that, more human, more than human.
⸢No I am not⸥ he answered utterly amused when the snake did a double take, stunned that the god would be capable of speaking her language. He detected the barest hint of offence on her next words.
⸢Then you are a lie, a false thing, I do not like false things⸥ the snake replied studying him closely, ⸢You are a danger to my human⸥
⸢I am a great danger to many a human, yours however has done nothing to earn my anger⸥ Loki replied, the smart little snake thought on this for a while.
⸢You claim that now. But my human has a way of frustrating the surrounding humans, they are so easily brought to anger⸥ came the serpent's response as she finally slithered her way over to him.
⸢There are many creatures brought to anger easily⸥ Loki responded lifting the snake up into the air to prove his point the snake hissed angrily.
⸢Unhand me liar, I shall not be handled by the likes of you!⸥ the snake protested with a rather loud hiss.
Up close, she was a rather pretty thing a mixture of soft pastel colours with the blackest eyes he had seen on a snake. A thick uneven stripe of orange and lavender ran the length of her spine and top of her head. Her belly was an off-white, her most dominate colour a rather fetching shade of yellow. She was indeed a strange patterned creature but lovely to look at.
⸢But you are so pretty, I think I may keep you⸥ he teased the snake who managed to throw him such a filthy look that it took him by surprise.
⸢You, are unworthy of me liar⸥ she snapped back.
⸢I am a good little serpent, far beyond your mortal caregiver⸥ he pointed out.
⸢Indeed? You must be the god of pomposity to say such things⸥ the snake complained turning her head away from Loki, ⸢My human is good and kind even as the sickness weakness her, you cannot compare to such a charitable and loving being⸥
⸢For something so small you certainly have a rather inflated sense of ego⸥ he said lifting her up to eye level, she turned her head away from him.
⸢Says the creature that wreaks of despair, I might be small, god of pomposity but at least I know happiness⸥ he’d never been tempted to toss a snake out of a window before tonight.
Soleil shifted on her feet confused, “Are you talking to her?”
“Of course, I am a god,” he answered petting the snake who recoiled deeply offended by his touch.
⸢How dare you touch me!!⸥ she hissed in discontent before slipping herself free from Loki’s hands and slithering back to Soleil who collected her up into her arms. ⸢You are unworthy pomposity, be gone!⸥
“That is a rather charming pet you have mortal,” Loki answered deigning to ignore the snake and her uppity attitude, “Though she might be pretty she has a rather terrible attitude.”
Soleil looked at Macbeth who looked at her, “Riiight she has the terrible attitude,” smugly the snake turned back to him beaming brightly.
⸢See my mortal understands, she shall not be easily swayed by a false serpent⸥ the snake happily slithered her way back up Soleil's sleeve.
“I have never before laid my eyes on a serpent with such markings and colours, is that typical of Midgardian serpents?” Loki asked leaning back on the sofa which had become uncomfortable thanks to being pinned down in one fixed spot.
“Uh, well ball pythons are kinda common I suppose, they are docile in nature,” Loki did not believe that for a second, “So they’ve been bred as pets for a while, some breeders try to create unique colour and pattern styles. Morphs. Macbeth is a Banana Cinnamon Blade Clown Ball Python for instance.”
Loki knew what each of those words meant individually but strung together like that they may as well have been pure nonsense.
His disbelief or confusion must have been evident on his face because she instantly launched into the details of snake breeding, how morphs came about, what each word meant and the genetic factors that went into selecting the right snakes to breed together to create the perfect offspring.
Trust humans to meddle in things that needed no intervention, he thought as she went into detail to explain a subject he had long since lost any interest in. She was passionate about her pet, about snakes in general, and so she babbled making her obsession quite evident.
It was no wonder her dammed pet was so smug, she probably praised it at every opportunity, it’s inflated sense of self coming from an overindulgence of love and flattery.
“Bee,” Jarvis cut her off saving Loki the indignity of having to amuse her babbling for longer, “The food has been placed in the elevator, do you require assistance in moving it?”
“I’m not that weak, Jarv,” she grumbled half stomping her way across the floor towards the elevator. Loki could feel the AI’s eye roll somehow.
It took her some time to set out the food given the ridiculous quantity that she had purchased. He did not recognise half of what was laid out but to Loki none of that mattered, all he could do was feel his mouth water at the prospect of finally having food that did not taste of grit and nothing.
“So we got Korean, Indian, Italian, Greek, American, Japanese, Ethiopian, Thai, Arabic, Mexican, Balkan, Caribbean, Chinese and Jamaican,”
“Bee,” Jarvis said.
“Yeah I over ordered,” she grumbled slipping her phone back into her pocket, but she hadn’t known what a god might like to eat.
It didn’t seem to matter, Loki was already tucking into a container of whatever was nearest to him.
He almost wept in pure bliss as he devoured the Tokushima ramen without haste, even the strangeness of a raw egg in a soup alongside pork belly and noodles (which he had never had in life) did not slow him down. The god did not slow down even as Tony Stark, Steve Rogers and Thor walked onto the floor slightly confused.
Jarvis had alerted them there would be food and that Soleil was apparently friendly with Loki. Jarvis had been somewhat right, Soleil was keeping a great distance between herself and the god, but she had ordered him a lot of food. Enough food to feed an army in fact.
“I don’t know what gods eat,” she immediately said as defence before her dad could ask, she did the same thing whenever he caught her doing something she wasn’t supposed to be doing. “So I got whatever, if he dies of an allergic reaction you’re not allowed to blame me.”
“You’d be doing us a favour Bee,” her dad joked, she grinned a little unsure while Loki finally slowed down. That was good, just watching him devour container after container was giving her indigestion.
“We do not suffer the aliments of mortals little Stark-”
“Little stark?” Soleil whispered at Steve and Tony both of them grinned sympathetically.
“-This is quite the feast,” Thor beamed at her and all of a sudden she could see what Jane Foster might see in the glorious blonde bastard, though if she had to go for a blonde she’d still choose Captain America.
The avengers and Soleil watched as Thor easily sat himself down beside Loki acting as though nothing was wrong, even Loki was a little on edge about that, Steve and Tony shared a look™ one that suggested they were in on something. Something Soleil was not allowed to be part of.
Thor without hesitation (must be a god thing) dug into the food complimenting Soleil as though she had laboured over the meals, she hadn’t.
“What is this?” Thor asked as the others finally settled, Tony made sure Soleil was one super solider and a father apart from the god of mischief.
“Curried goat,” Soleil answered taking the carton of Tom Kha soup for herself.
The look of betrayal startled her as he was torn between heaving his stomach into the nearest container or eating what was a delicious meal. Loki being the sympathetic brother he was grinned from ear to ear watching Thor have an internal meltdown.
They did not eat goats on Asgard due to Thor’s love of them, they were scared in some strange way. Loki suspected interest in eating them was already so minimal that Odin had no issue outlawing their slaughter and consumption.
“Are you okay Thor?” Steve had to ask as Thor gingerly put the container down.
“Yes Captain, I… find I cannot in good conscience eat a goat,” Thor said picking up another container and studying it.
“That’s chicken,” Tony reassured him passing a box that contained a triple cheeseburger with plenty of onions, “Try this it might suit you.” Thor immediately approved of the burger, it wasn’t easy to go wrong with a good burger.
Though the company was unwanted Loki found a sense of comfort in the noise and activity, listening in as Thor and Steve asked questions about the food for the Starks to answer. If the Starks did not know then Jarvis would provide information, Loki cared not about the province of food or what it contained, food was food and this was the best food he had tasted in a dreadfully long time.
He listened into the varying conversations, Soleil debated baseball with Steve, apparently he took offence at the LA Dodgers, none of this made sense to Loki, what made even less sense was Hockey, even the Captain did not seem to understand her love of Hockey.
The older Stark chimed in once in a while or talked at length to Thor about various things, places the god should see since he would be spending time on Midgard and perhaps the acquisition of a phone – communication device. Loki knew how that would end, Thor had never been great at keeping in touch.
The four talked at length about everything and anything, Loki was more fascinated by the Korean barbecue than what was considered the best dessert.
According to Steve Rogers you could not beat a good apple pie with a dollop of thick cream or ice cream. The older Stark insisted on Tiramisu which combined alcohol and coffee. Whereas the younger Stark insisted that New York style cheesecake was the best dessert, though ice cream (of any type) was a close second.
He noticed that Rogers was rather experimental with his choice of food, wishing to try everything at least once. Thor ate whatever had the most meat, Stark knew what he liked and stuck to that while his daughter seemed filled by the small tub of soup she had half-eaten.
“Jane has mentioned you little Stark,” Soleil did not appreciate Thor’s new nickname for her.
“Okay?”
“You are an engineer?” Thor asked.
“Yup, my main focus is space, aerospace engineering if you will, but I am not confined to one area of study,” She said setting her half-eaten carton down.
“Jane had mentioned that you are attempting to colonise your moon?”
“Me personally no, but I wanna find a way to make the moon liveable, so we can continue our research,” she said taking a long sip of water.
The floodgates were opened up and Thor could only sit uncomfortably as she prattled on about her designs on space, how they might once again reach the moon and this time stay there. She had ideas with regard to terraforming, to establishing a liveable base, not just on the moon but Mars as well. They would be the first destinations in this new space race she dreamt up.
Loki recognised the blank look on Thor’s face, he had long since lost interest and Soleil quickly realised. Twiddling her fingers she fell silent, ashamed even, this made Loki frown. Her father wrapped an arm around her whispering something, she perked up a little.
Thor turned to Steve to start an entirely new conversation, which made Soleil wince. Tony reassured her all was well and rubbed her arm, only to annoy Macbeth who popped her head out to see who it was that was rubbing her.
“Sorry my scaly grandbaby,” Tony grinned at the indignant snake.
⸢Oh another one, what is this one the god of the farm?⸥ the snake complained looking a surprised Thor over.
⸢I am the god of thunder, serpent⸥
⸢I stand corrected oh great and powerful goat fucker⸥
“I do not recommend getting into an argument with it, it thinks anything other than the younger Stark is beneath it,” Loki said trying a slice of pizza, he found the combination sweeter than expected.
“So they’re both Dolittle’s?” Tony asked Soleil who shrugged she didn’t get it either, but apparently they could understand Macbeth in some way. She certainly reacted to whatever they said back to her.
“I don’t get it either,” she admitted.
“So she doesn't like me?” Tony asked Loki while Thor continued to glare at Macbeth, the snake in return glared back at Thor (somehow).
⸢You may tell him that I enjoy his company, the red machine is most comfortable for resting on and he is a delight for a human being!⸥
“She thinks your armour makes the perfect place to rest,” Loki translated.
“Well it’s good to know I’m useful for something,” Tony grinned rubbing the snakes chin as she leaned up to him.
⸢You did not tell him that I enjoy his company nor that he is a delight tell him, tell him!⸥ Macbeth snapped at Loki
⸢It must have slipped my mind dull scales⸥ Loki grinned.
⸢Pompous false serpent⸥ she complained slithering her way onto Tony’s shoulder, Steve wasn’t as sure about the snake, but Tony was used to her by now.
“She’s tame and a pest if you let her loose in a workshop but tame,” Tony assured Steve who still wasn’t sure meanwhile Macbeth curled herself up on top of Tony’s head, she liked to feel tall.
“She’s inquisitive not a pest,” Soleil insisted gently cooing at Macbeth wondering how it was that the gods communicated with her.
“She likes to nap in places she shouldn’t,” Macbeth was not pleased by this, it wasn’t her fault she found nice warm places to rest in his workshop. She slithered her way back to Soleil deeply offended, Tony rolled his eyes.
“Well maybe you shouldn’t leave your workshop unlocked,” Soleil argued as the serpent coiled herself around her right arm once again.
“Dum-E likes to roam the house, you know this Bee,” Tony argued, yes she did know, she had spent a childhood learning to know when Dum-E was out and about. She loved him, she really did but Dum-E was not built to handle fragile things, especially fragile children.
“Yes but should he be trusted to roam the house?” Soleil asked grinning when he failed to find a suitable answer. Everyone knew it wasn’t a good idea, Dum-E lived up to his name and while he was adorable he vastly overestimated his own skill and abilities.
Tony blinked several times, nope a reasonable argument still failed him, there was no good reason why Dum-E should be unleashed within the house, “So Point Break, what’s this about coffee and pop tarts?”
Thor lit up with a glorious and adorable smile, “My lady Jane introduced me to such wonderful refreshments.”
“And you were worried about feeding them actual food,” Tony whispered to Soleil who grinned to herself, “Well Point Break we do have coffee-”
“-Dad you can’t feed Thor your coffee,” Soleil protested as her dad made his way over to the coffee machine.
“What’s the worst that can happen?” Tony joked.
“It comes with a health warning!”
“It’s not that bad,”
“By buying it you accept all the dangers that coffee presents, you have to sign legally binding documents on the website, you can’t give it to an alien!” Tony wasn’t seeing the issue, those aliens were gods, “It literally killed three people last year.”
“You shouldn’t have said that,” Loki muttered at the exact same time Thor lit up, “Let me test this coffee!”
Soleil buried her face in her hands, Steve offered her a spring roll in consolation, she took it, to exhausted to care that she was full up. Trust her dad to find the one alien that would enable his terrible habits. Fuck this was going to be a long year.
The avengers (well Tony, Steve and Thor) discussed what they should do with Loki, the god of mischief had no say and Odin had decided to leave it in their hands. The obvious answer would be to lock him up, lock him away where he could cause no harm.
There was no place suitable on Midgard that the avengers were aware of, Loki knew of several places but would rather not assist any further attempts at incarceration. He watched them struggle amongst themselves to come up with the ideal solution.
“I can’t keep him here,” Tony protested to Thor who insisted this was the best place, “I have staff and my kid to consider.”
“You have a goat here?” Thor asked.
“Soo, allspeak translates things literally?” Tony asked perplexed, Loki rolled his eyes, no it didn’t, Thor had simply mistaken the context of the word which would have supplied the answer.
“Kid is slang for child, he’s talking about his daughter Soleil,” Steve told Thor who stood there just realising what Soleil was to Tony, “You didn’t know?”
“The big fella showed up in the middle of this mess, I don’t think he got the briefings,” Tony reasoned, “Sol’s my kid, child, offspring whatever you wanna say, point is while Bumblebee’s here I’m not hosting Loki.”
“Loki shall not harm your daughter Stark,” Thor half lied, in truth he might harm Soleil, Loki had done a lot worse in his past though usually that was for the sake of Asgard or the protection of his family.
“Look all you have to do is sneeze at my kid and boom, in hospital,” Tony argued.
“Your daughter is that fragile?” Thor wondered if it were an age thing, Darcy looked to be of a similar age and seemed hale.
“Yep kid’s a medical wonder, impossibility even, so unless I have proof that Loki can’t hurt my kid you’ll have to have him live somewhere else,”
“Why not call SHIELD?” Steve offered, Thor considered this, but Tony had the most peculiar expression one that made Loki take note.
Tony shuffled on his feet, “I’m not saying that… look Loki took out quite a few SHIELD agents, Phil included, everyone loved Phil. I’m not sayin’ he’d approve out loud, but I’m sure Fury would be willing to turn a blind eye if anyone… took advantage of Loki’s situation.”
To Tony’s surprise Steve agreed, “What other options do we have? Thor are there any other territories, realms or worlds that would take Loki?”
“The majority of the nine realms are overseen by Asgard, they would not be willing to risk Odin’s ire by inviting Loki – even as a captive – amongst their numbers,” Thor reasoned.
“Why do I get the feeling when you say overseen what you really mean is-” Steve elbowed Tony in the ribs to get him to shut up.
“Can’t you build a containment around a single floor in the tower?” Steve proposed.
“Yeah and then what happens, he tricks Jarvis or someone else to let him out. Hell Bee would let him out if meant she could learn some weird alien shit, or fuck, she’d let him out to… you said Puente Antiguo?” he turned to Thor.
“Yes?” the god of thunder blinked confused. “I landed there, it so happened that Jane Foster and Agent Phil were also there.”
“Riiiight, well fuck,” Tony ran a hand through his hair, “If he stays here… how much do you two know about engineering?”
“The sciences were Loki’s subjects not mine,” Thor answered.
“We can’t keep him here,” Tony insisted to Steve who was just as confused as everyone else.
“Tony the tower is the best option-” Steve was about to argue, but Tony was adamant against the idea.
“-No it’s not because if Bee finds out-”
“-If Bee finds out what?” Soleil asked, Tony jumped curing Natasha (back when she was Natalie) for teaching Soleil how to be sneaky.
“I do not see why Puente Antiguo is so important to my brothers confinement,” Thor frowned not understanding what was going on at all.
“Did you say Puente Antiguo?” Soleil rounded on a surprised Thor, he did not understand.
“Is this some mythical town I should visit?” Steve asked it had been mentioned a lot in five minuted.
“No, no Bee he didn’t, he said-” Tony tried to correct not realising Thor did not like to be called a liar.
“-Do not make me a liar Stark,” Thor threatened.
“Yeah Dad how dare you make the most venerable god of thunder out to be a liar, honestly have you no shame?” Soleil said placing her hands on her hips, Thor nodded in complete agreement.
Loki rolled his eyes at how quickly Thor soaked up the praise and attention, it was honestly embarrassing how easily the fool could be manipulated and it had taken a mortal one afternoon to discover this weakness.
“Puente Antiguo was where I met my Lady Jane, Darcy, Selvig and your beloved Agent Son of Coul,”
“You mean Coulson, he’s American, we don’t use Patronymic or Matronymic surnames. At least not in the way you’re probably thinking of them,” Soleil corrected, “He was just Coulson, His father was probably not named Coul. Like how I am Stark and not Anthonysdóttir.”
“I see,” Thor muttered, “That explains the oddity of Jane’s family name.”
“Yep so if you and Jane married on Earth, and she decided to take your name, just as an example off the top of my head-” Tony and Steve finally caught on, she was buttering up the god of Thunder, and he was eating it up, “-She would be Jane Odinson, which I suppose would be awkward in Asgard but normal here.”
“That does seem odd?” Thor admitted hating how it sounded, it made her sound his like his sister.
“So you met in Puente Antiguo, I once read it’s romantic to get married where you met your love, but a desert town seems… inappropriate for a wedding to a god, especially with it still in need of repair.”
“Yes, the destroyer created so much damage when it walked through the town,” Thor turned to Loki who sat back utterly amused that Thor had so easily fallen into Soleil’s trap, of course Thor read his amusement wrong.
“The destroyer?” Soleil asked.
“Yes, The Destroyer Automaton is a weapon and guardian of Asgard, it was sent by Loki to kill me,” Thor glared at Loki again, “I wonder if it is still where we left it?”
“You really think SHIELD would have left something called the destroyer alone after what we saw with the tesseract?” Steve asked not understanding Soleil’s interest.
“How dangerous is this thing?” Tony asked.
“It levelled a town Tony, it’s dangerous,” Steve reasoned.
“Hush that’s not important, so the destroyer was sent by Loki to what attack you? Did you defeat it battle then?” She asked.
“Yes, with my godhood and power restored I used my strength and lightning to best the destroyer in combat,” Thor proudly announced.
“That’s sooo amazing,” Loki rolled his eyes the falseness wet unnoticed by Thor, “So like, it’s no longer functioning?”
“No, I knew I could not best it if I attacked the body, so I attacked it’s core it’s power source, rendering it inoperable,” Thor answered.
“Amazing,” Soleil continued, “So, any random idiot can command it?”
Thor laughed at the jab at Loki, Loki just sat deeply disappointed in his brother who allowed his ego to be bolstered like this, “No, it can only be commanded by the king of Asgard.”
“Loki was king?” Tony asked.
“What Asgard’s never had a queen?” Soleil asked.
“How do you go from being King to invader?” Steve asked.
“Expansion of the empire?” Tony proposed, “One land beneath the Asgardian sun and all that.”
“So what, you get named ruler of Asgard, and you’re in automatic control of its weapons? How does that work?”
“Through the Odinforce, Gungier acts as a tool to harness this power and through the Odinforce any ruler can command the destroyer,” Thor answered wondering why she was asking this, “Why do you ask little stark?”
“But I imagine Steel or iron would easily break under the strength of Mjölnir right? So how did the destroyer withstand your combined might?”
It was hilarious how quickly Thor turned from suspicious to eager to explain just how incredible he was.
“The metal from which the destroyer and my Mjölnir is forged is known as Uru, it can only be forged in the megastructure that surrounds Nidavellir. The dwarves harness the power of their sun Nidavellir to forge Uru, they are the only race capable of such a feat,”
“Only because they guard their secrets like paranoid dragons,” Loki muttered.
“Dwarves?” Steve asked.
“Did he say megastructure surrounding a sun?” Tony asked
Soleil vibrated, actually vibrated.
“Soo how does someone get into Nidavellir?” Soleil asked.
“With charm and plenty of gold,” Loki answered
“I can get gold,” Soleil whispered loudly, “How much gold do you-”
“-Bumblebee I know all this is very exciting,” Her dad began to steer her away from the gods, “But this can wait until tomorrow when you’ve had your ten hours now go, sleep.”
“Ugh fine, oh,” She pulled out a piece of paper from her jacket pocket and read out loud, “Pepper says pick up the fucking phone, or she’s leaving you for a man called Seamus.”
“Shit,” he’d forgotten to call Pepper to reassure her he wasn’t dead, he still made sure to push Soleil out toward the Elevator, “Stick him on your floor for now Point Break.”
“My Floor?” Thor asked.
“Oh, oh right, you all have your own floor Jarvis will send you to the correct ones,” that was that. The Starks were gone.
“Why do I feel manipulated?” Thor asked.
“You are catching on much faster these days' brother,” Loki grinned.
Steve sighed, he wasn’t getting paid enough to deal with this bullshit.

The Pursuit of a Simple Life
A new multi-chapter RP-format LokixOFC fic by @latent-thoughts and @emeraldrosequartz .
Hello fabulous readers!!! We are thrilled to bring you our next joint literary effort, The Pursuit of a Simple Life. After working on our first RP-format fic, I Will Always Test You, we knew we needed to try another story in this style. We’ve been working on this for a few months so far (and some lucky people have already gotten a sneak peek), but we feel like it’s time to bring this into the world. We hope this will bring you some much-needed distraction and joy.
Summary: Three years after returning to Earth with the other Asgardians following Ragnarok, Loki finds himself working for SHIELD as an agent, truly just trying to fight the boredom. While on an undercover mission, he unexpectedly begins to fall for his co-worker Gemma, and she seems to feel the same way...about Dave, his alter ego while in disguise. Can Loki continue a relationship with her while keeping his true identity a secret?
Here’s a little excerpt - enjoy!
At the end of the day, most people had already gone home. But...her program had crashed several times that day. IT didn’t respond to any of her calls or emails, and now she had to complete the analytics by hand before she could leave.
F. M. L....
Not to mention...she hadn’t really given up on writing that note to Dave. She was on her 32nd attempt when he walked by, leaving his meeting, and she hunched over trying desperately to look busy so he wouldn’t ask what she was doing...
Oh, you know, just trying to craft the perfectly written 10-word letter to see if you want to get drinks with me sometime. Please don’t talk to me, or I may vomit on your shoes from the nervous breakdown I’m about to have over it. Thank yooooou...
Her pencil tip snapped off. Of. Fucking. Course.
Gemma stood up and headed to the cubicle where the printer, the pencil sharpener, and all the other “shared” office supplies were. And she was pleasantly surprised/utterly horrified to see Dave waiting at the printer.
Don’t blow it don’t blow it don’t blow it...
She walked up and stuck her pencil in the sharpener without saying anything, and it loudly started grinding away at her pencil. Dave immediately jumped and looked at her, shocked by the sudden noise. Gemma just...smiled, feeling her face turn beet red.
“Uh-hum....sorryyyyy....”
Oh God, kill me now...
Loki was pleasantly surprised to see that the disturbance in the supply-cum-printer cubicle was being caused by none other than his lovely colleague, Gemma.
She sweetly apologized to him for the noise, turning a pretty shade of red as he kept looking at her. Really, she was quite a fair maiden, and also, seemed to possess all the qualities of a lady of good breeding.
"It's not your fault," he replied, leaning against the printer as it churned out the prints for him. "These contraptions are far too noisy for their good, no?"
Oh God oh God oh God... Gemma’s stomach was in knots as she tried not to look like she might pass out. Come on...it’s just a person...HE’s just a person...you talk to people all the time, just open your mouth and SAY SOMETHING.
“Yea...yup...they sure are...”
GOD DAMNIT FUCK SHIT FUCKITY FUCK FUCK WHY?????
“So...um...whatcha printing?”
If he hadn’t been looking right at her, she would have facepalmed. Ugh...smooth, Gemma...
He smiled at her question, adding a bit of flirtation to his tone as he replied.
"I think you know what I'm printing, Gemma." He licked his lips and watched her keenly as she turned redder still.
This was infinitely amusing. The girl was indeed attracted to him. Well... to his persona.
First chapter coming soon - stay tuned! 😁

Ahhh!! I'm so glad that I continue to draw you in! There certainly are a lot of questions - some get answered pretty early on, some get answered later on... and some of them the reader finds out before the other characters do, which creates another batch of questions... (I love me some dramatic irony).
I'm really looking forward to when this will be fully ready to share! These snippets (and the feedback) are definitely huge in helping me push through the parts that are challenging to write ❤️❤️
So, this week, in lieu of a snippet, I decided to share the updated synopsis/summary of the Trickster! I also made a new intro post with the four (so far) snippet links and updated synopsis. :)
Tag List: @iamlokisgloriouspurpose @thedistractedagglomeration @lokisgoodgirl @simplyholl @mochie85 @coldnique @lokixryss @gigglingtigger @cheekyscamp @loopsisloops @mischief2sarawr @crzyplantladyvibes @buttercupcookies-blog
Want to be added to my tag list? Send me an ask and I'll add you! :)
Not to be that person, but reblogs are v much appreciated - I have a very small follower base and would love to find new friends who also love Loki!! 🥰🥰
The Trickster
From their first meeting, Theolene Amaris was a question that Loki was desperate to answer.
Every time he swore he figured her out, she showed him something new, adding a new layer of complexity to the mix. In fact, the only thing Loki knew was not a question was Theo’s love of music. Creating or listening - it did not matter; Theo’s identity was intertwined with music.
Shortly after Theo joined the Avengers, Loki asked her why music was so important to her. At the time, she told him that music had always been important to her family, but it also helped her feel human when the world wore her down. It kept her grounded. It reminded her of what was worth fighting for.
Since then, Loki had inquired numerous times about what exactly she meant, but she just laughed and answered that she would maybe explain some other time, leaving Loki to chase after an answer.
Loki may have been drawn to the question of Theo Amaris, but it was not why he stayed.
Despite her moniker of the Silver Shadow, Theo was the light to Loki’s dark, the fire to his ice. The sharp wit, keen intellect, and knack for magic was what began their friendship, but over time they grew to understand each other in a way that no one rivaled - not even Thor, who’d spent centuries with Loki as his brother.
Yet, unlike Thor, Theo only needed a sliver of time to break through Loki’s icy, guarded exterior; to work her way into his heart and bear witness to the wounds inflicted on him at a young age. When she finally saw Loki for who he was - the mangled mess of a monster that he’d come to quietly loathe, she embraced him - all of him - without question. Though Loki had been living on Midgard for years, Theo was the first person who made him glad that he was there, who made him feel like he was a hero worthy of being a part of the team known as “Earth’s mightiest heroes.” Traces of her were in every part of him - in his blood and his bones, his every thought and dream - consuming him in a way that Loki hadn’t ever experienced before.
However, just over seventy two hours had passed since the discovery that Theo withheld a significant part of her identity, which forced Loki to question everything he thought he knew about the woman he thought he loved.
It had been years of trying to answer the question that was Theolene Amaris...
And now that Loki was finally making progress, she was on the cusp of being ripped away.

Fruit of Passion (Part Two)
elliecapper said:Hey I was wondering if you would do a sequel to fruit of passion where Loki goes to her and sees her and their child with a happy ending ( thanks)💖💖💖
A/N: I ammmm so down for this one! I know I left you all broken hearted after Fruit of Passion, but now here I am, trying to redeem myself lmaoo. I read that Hela was Loki’s daughter in the Marvel comics like waaaat! Also, i had read somewhere that Nari was the name of Loki’s son in Norse mythology, so i named their daughter Nari. Why not.
Warnings:none, just fluff.

The dark haired little girl rushed through the wheat, dark green orbs pulled into a playful scorn. Her dress, the color of moonlight, drifted through the wind. Through her fingers, the soft texture of the wheat around her. In her hair, the gentle wind that rocks her to sleep every night. On her tongue, the sweet taste of summer.
Perched on the top of he valley, her mother, a sorrowful smile on her lips.
You’d left Asgard all those years ago with pain in your chest and new life in the pit of your tummy. You’d never once believed that the child could have been Thor’s. You knew from the instant she started kicking that the child was Loki’s and only Loki’s. There was no hesitation. You needed to bring that child into the world.
Some nights, your belly swollen with her, you’d wondered if she’d turn out as dark and torn apart as Loki had been. Yet you remembered, it was that same darkness that had loved you unconditionally.
You stood up to get your daughter’s attention. “Nari!”
She turned, bracing on you those familiar green eyes. “Come on up for dinner!” you yelled.
On all her ten years of age, she scrambled back up the valley, hands clawing at the dirt and wheat. When she managed to join you, she was sweating and heaving, her little chin shining with a gleam of sweat.
She looked so damn much like her father. Those long and sharp features, round eyes, thick eyebrows, and a slim figure. She would grow up to be a wonderful and ravaging young woman. Who knew, maybe she’d be gifted like her father was in sorcery.
You’d managed to make a life here on Midgard, among the mortals. Nari went to school and had friends, yet she completely ignored her true heritage; that of a Goddess.
“Where’s my father?” she’d once asked you one night. She had been to school long enough to understand children had a mommy and a daddy, yet she was missing the latter. She was missing a part of herself.
“He isn’t around, baby,” you’d whispered. Her eyes, those damn eyes, had filled with water. “Oh, Nari, no don’t cry.”
Her little hands had balled into fists against your shirt. “He’s dead?” she asked.
You were sure of it. If they had found out about you and Loki, Thor would have sentenced him to death under high treason. But you hoped, every night, with every fiber in your body, that the only man you loved had not been killed because of you.
“No he isn’t,” you’d answered your daughter. “He’s just not here.”
And now, as you watched her eat her dinner, little legs dangling off the edge of the chair, you wished he could see her. You wished he could see the little dimple she had on her left cheek that creased even deeper when she gave a full-teeth smile. You wished he could see how curly and dark her hair was; a perfect mix between you and him. You wished he could see how brilliant and funny his daughter was.
You put her to bed that night, watching as her lashes cast shadows on her soft cheeks. Outside, the world had turned black, tormented by a storm. Your Goddess senses spiked at the strange nature of the storm outside. In your head, a buzzing that awoke long forgotten memories.
Your heart lurched in your chest, fingers tingling, your tongue dry with anticipation as you got to your feet. The windows of your house were screeching against the wind, the entirety of your home groaning with every gust.
When you opened the door, you were not surprised to see the storm die out almost instantly. A warm wind caressed your skin, tangling in your hair.
Among the clouds, a shadow, a silhouette you would recognize anywhere.
“Y/N.” The sound of your name made shivers slice up your spine. Fresh tears welled in your eyes, your heart swelling.
“H-how?” the words left your lips in a whisper, your eyes searching the tormented sky frantically.
He came through the clouds. He looked so much older than what you remember. He had been so young and fleeting and careless when you had been in his arms, so naive and innocent. And now, his hair was longer, curling at the ends. His eyes sagged at the edges, the color darker. His mouth was pulled in a permanent scowl. The was an air to him that made your heart pinch; pain and longing.
He reached for you, and instinctively you pulled back. He was supposed to be dead. He should have been dead.
“I came back for you, Y/N,” he whispered. His voice was raw, broken, filled to the brink with agony. “I made it... for you.” His eyes were red, edges rimmed with tears.
Your own cheeks were wet. “How?” It seemed you could only say one word.
This time, when his fingers inched for you, you didn’t move. His skin was cold, just like you remembered. The feeling of him sent electricity zapping through your veins.
“I waited ten years,” he croaked, “to escape. They locked me up for ten years, but I made it out. The only thing that kept me going was you.”
The thought of him locked up, behind bars, for ten years made the pain in your chest swell. He went through hell all for you.
Then, rationality came back to you.
If he had escaped, they were surely looking for him. And he had come here, to find you. Yet he would surely bring a hoard of Asgardian judiciary guards behind him, after him, to capture and probably kill him for treason and escape from royal confines. He would bring all of this here, to you and Nari. He would put you and your daughter under the scope of Odin and Thor.
That couldn’t be.
“You need to leave,” you said. The look in his eyes tore you apart just like the day you left through the crack in the world Loki had shown you.
“What?”
“You can’t be here,” you continued. “They will come for you and find me and-”
“But we can leave,” he interrupted harshly, grabbing your shoulders. “Together!” The feel of his hands on you made you sway. Oh, how you’d missed him. The storm behind him started to brew again. He was angry.
“No,” you said, shaking your head, Nari on your mind. You couldn’t uproot her like that. It would shock her.
“Yes!” he insisted, stepping closer to you. “You take your things and we leave. We never have to hear about them again.”
His eyes, those green eyes that you stared into every day, were filled with truth and pleading. You saw the longing, the nostalgia behind the green curtain. “I still love you,” he whispered, lower lip trembling. “I never stopped.”
With a sigh, you nodded. “Before we go, there is something you need to see.”
The house was silent. Over the little girl, a man, with the same long and sharp features, the same green eyes alight with fire, the same dark mane. Behind them, a woman, her heart empty and complete all at once.
“She’s mine?” he asked, his voice delicate, his eyes adorning a softness you’d never seen in him before, not even when he made love to you. You didn’t even need to answer the question; he saw the striking resemblance.
“She’s ten years old,” you said, picking up a bag and filling it with your daughter’s clothes. “I named her Nari.”
You watched as Loki reached a shaking hand to pet his daughter’s hair. A lone tear had streaked the paleness of his cheek.
“She’s so perfect,” he whispered, crouching down, her little breaths fanning his face. He didn’t know how to act, how to be. This little being, half grown already, was his by a woman he had loved more than the universe itself.
Suddenly, he got to his feet, facing you with a determination you’d rarely seen. “I will protect you, I promise,” he declared, gesturing to you and your daughter. “We leave, right now, and we never have to hear about Asgard again. We can live peacefully. You can raise her within the culture she was born in. We can go anywhere, anywhere you want. Just promise to stay with me.”
“I do,” you said, laughing, crying, all at once because this was never the life you’d imagined. This was what you’d wanted in the darkness of your soul, the darkest part that told you it was unattainable.
“Promise never to leave me again,” he whispered. “Promise not to take her away from me.”
“I promise,” you said, promising all at once that Nari would wake up and love him, because her heart was grander than the both of you. Promising all at once that you’d lead an nontraditional life, but a life still. A life together.

He seemed quite like a grandfather of the world or a librarian from a videogame, but what have you learend, one must first observe to juge someone. So you held your eyes narly all the way closed and pretended to be asleep. The old man went to the desk and cut some herbes into small pieces , then put them in a pot over the fire, all the while humming a tune you didn´t know or mumbling things you did ot quiet get the hang of. then he pured the mixture over a cloth and came to your bed , softly he out it on your forehed, also softly mumbling to himself,” oh little girl you are beginning to look a lot better” . so you devised, he was a healer with the task to take care of you , you must hae been unconcius for some time, and were in a sick room . Rating: Explicit (18+ readers only)
Chapter Summary: Champagne and solemn vows.
Excerpt:
“Hello, Calli.”
Loki leaned on the wall near her, cutting her off before she made it to the ladies room. He knew she’d have to come by here eventually. He’d been listening in to her conversations since she’d arrived, more for his own curiosity than for fear she might say something about him. But when he saw that tall, strapping blonde photographer leaning into her and showing off what he could only assume was his work...he knew he had to intervene, and quickly.

Just Give Me A Reason (Part Two)
Warnings: None
Words: 1191
The parents had come to get their kids shortly after they arrived back at Sonja's home, and many were thanking her profusely for taking them on such an adventure. She had smiled and explained how it was nothing, but once they were all gone her smile was gone. She clenched her fists as they began to shake, and she began to consider moving again. Of all the realms, why did he have to be on this one? Why did he have to recognize her? How had he recognized her? She looked at her long brown hair, frowning. Maybe it was time to cut it again after all.
A sharp knock on the door pulled Sonja violently from her thoughts. She approached slowly, opening it just a crack. There he stood, on her doorstep with a pained, regretful look on his face. She didn't particularly want to see him, but she wasn't about to admit he was right, either.
"What are you doing here?" She didn't open the door anymore, not wanting him to think she was inviting him into her home. He took a deep breath, and she briefly wondered if this was hard on him as well.
"Sigyn, I know it is you. You may appear as the mortals do, but I know you best." He pressed as close as the door allowed, and she had to fight the urge to slam it in his face. "Please, let me in. I simply wish to speak with you, nothing more." Memories came unbidden and unwanted to her mind, of the times they had sat in his sitting room, discussing books and court gossip. She took a shaky breath, opening the door just a bit more but blocking the opening with her body.
"Loki, you need to leave." She let her natural accent slip through, and a look of relief crossed his face. He reached for her, but she shook her head. "No. You need to leave, please, before someone sees you here." He looked confused.
"I did not come to harm you, if that is your worry. I can have Thor come to chaperone if it's truly a problem." She groaned, closing her eyes briefly and taking a deep breath.
"Loki, it is not a matter of propriety. I don't want you here. And there is nothing we need to discuss." Her chest ached with feelings she was sure she hadn't felt in over a century; she certainly didn't want to feel them now. He looked wounded, and she couldn't help the regret that poured into her. She debated a few minutes before cursing herself under her breath quietly and opening the door fully. "Fine, you can have five minutes. But then you leave." He rushed in before she could stop him and pulled her into a hug.
"I'm to have five minutes? Norns, Sigyn, I haven't seen you in 200 years!" He exclaimed. She wriggled out of his grasp and moved to close the door, before leading the way to the den. Loki followed behind, looking around in interest at her home. A home you'll have to leave now… The bitter thought was more than unwelcome as she took a seat on her couch. Loki sat next to her, turning to face her as fully as he could. He studied her closely, seeming to be comparing what he saw to his memory.
"So, why are you here, Loki?" He blinked at her wary tone, taking in her crossed arms.
"Sigyn, we were the best of friends, and then one day you were gone. You didn't say goodbye, or leave a note, and all my mother would say was you had gone home." He shook his head. "I wanted to look for you, but she said I couldn't. Why did you leave?" Her jaw clenched at his innocent question, though she had spent a long time hoping this day wouldn't come.
"I left because I couldn't stand to be at court any longer. My family was…disappointed, but understanding. I would not have wanted you to come looking for me, and I'm less than happy that you found me today." She had dropped her gaze to the sofa, shifting uncomfortably. She knew he was looking at her, and she knew what was coming next. "I don't know what you expected, coming here to speak with me. It does not change anything." He moved closer, and she fought with herself on whether or not to move closer or away. He took her chin gently and brought her face back up to his.
"Sigyn, I came here to plead with you. I have missed my friend deeply." Loki looked genuinely sad, and Sonja couldn't help but feel bad. "At least tell me what at court made you leave us." She studied him for a bit, wondering if he already knew and was simply making her admit it; he didn't seem to.
"I left because you found yourself enthralled with the Lady Sif, Loki." He blinked, clearly surprised. "Oh please, you knew I was convinced I had fallen in love. I'd done everything short of proposing to you myself." She flushed, embarrassed by admitting to something like this. She pulled away from his grasp and stood, running a hand through her hair and turning her back to him. "Within a week of her arrival, you no longer wanted to spend tea with me or walk the gardens. I stayed as long as I could, but it became too much to constantly hear of Sif. I spoke with your mother, and she helped me plan my trip home." She turned to him, and noted the small spark of pain and anger in his gaze. She sighed, starting for the door again. "Perhaps it's best you leave now. Please do not tell Thor of this." Loki stood quickly, grabbing her arm and turning her to face him quickly. She frowned, looking up at him in confusion.
"Why did you not tell me of this? I could have helped, I…I…"
"What, Loki? What would you have done?" Anger spiked in Sonja's chest. "You were determined that Sif would be yours. I lost the only true friend I had a court. You would not have done anything, other than brush me away when I spoke to you of how I felt." She glared and roughly pulled her arm from his grasp. He looked absolutely shocked, and she could understand why; she had always been so soft spoken, so eager to please the royal family of Asgard. Midgard had changed her a great deal. "Now, leave. You bring nothing but memories I no longer want." He seemed to collapse, but nodded, and she led him out. He stepped out the door, but turned at the last minute.
"I swear to you, Sigyn, I will make it up to you. I will earn your friendship again, no matter the cost." He leaned in to peck her cheek before leaving quickly, leaving a frustrated and confused Sonja in his wake. She couldn't help but think of all the ways it could have happened differently, and she knew this was only the beginning.

Fic Series I’m Working on Finally Has a Title
Going forward, anything to do with my writing of this series (including the actual fics, once I post them) will be tagged as Operation Hearthfire. It’s looking to be five parts (or possibly six, depending): three oneshots, 2 multi-chapter fics, and one possible collection of other short bits. I’ll post a full list of titles once I have the first one (It’s Better Warm) posted, which should hopefully be soon.
