Adventures of Diane and Kurt in DC

They accidently meet at the street near their new home. Diane looks tired, Kurt has a dog on a leash.

Diane: Hello, handsome. *her face lightens up* Aww, who is this? I thought you went for a job interview, not to adopt a dog!

Kurt: *trying to keep a deadpan look* How do you know this little lady is not a part of my new job?

Diane: *looks at his serene expression and arches a brow* Really? *a smile betrays his little game this time*

Kurt: No, but I hope you'll not kick us out?

Diane: Kick you out... *laughs* Look at your happy face. I would never. What's her name?

They're sitting down on a small bench.

Kurt: Vicki, short for Victoria. When I heard it I thought we could use the nickname to sneak into your office under the pretense of bringing you some luck with the cases.

Diane: Yeah, you would be so wonderfully distracting, that I'll definitely need the luck to win cases.

They laugh, Diane suddenly winces.

Kurt: You're early today.

Diane: Got a headache. Marissa sent me home saying they'll manage today.

Kurt: They should've given you more time off. 

Diane: Thank you for taking the most of the moving to DC stuff on yourself. *softly kisses his cheek, already feeling better*

Kurt: No problem.

Vicki: *barks one time to get attention*

Diane: She has beautiful eyes.

Kurt: *scratches under the dog's ear* This morning I saw a dog on the street, it looked a lot like Justice… *fells silent remembering a dog Diane once had, a dog he loved*

Diane: God, I miss Chicago...

Diane: *quickly switches topic back to Kurt* So you decided to ditch the interview and go to a shelter?

Kurt: No, no, I went to the interview. Didn't like their conditions. Not sure I'm up to working till late hours anymore.

Diane: *sighs* I find myself at the crossroads too. Whether to work on hiring as many competent people as I can and let them take the reigns, or dive in deep myself. *takes a dog on her lap, not thinking much about spoiling her skirt, pets Vicki absent-mindedly* Sometimes dreams come true a little bit too late.

Kurt: Hiring a few more competent people is always a good idea. *tenderly caresses Diane's forearm*

Diane: If I get too tired, we can always run to Costa-Rica. *winks at Kurt*

Vicki: *awkwardly goes to Kurt's lap, tries to lick his face*

Kurt: *silently laughs*

Diane: *pouts* Look at you two! Adorable! I have to take a picture. *stands up and snaps a picture of Kurt and Vickie on a bench*

Vicki behaves really well, Diane and Kurt have lots of fun making more pictures in different poses.

Diane: *giggles* So much good material to pick from. Time to update a lockscreen.

Kurt: *shortly kisses her on the lips, happy twinkles in his eyes* Are you feeling better?

Diane: You two definitely helped the pill to kick in faster. *kisses him too*

Vicki in Kurt's arms: *makes an attempt to lick their chins*

Kurt: Let's go home. *his stomach grumbles*

Diane: And order some food!

Vicki: *barks in agreement*

They head towards the house. Diane doesn't feel so tired anymore. Kurt thinks that he can feel at home anywhere as long as they're together and nobody tries to break them apart.

i’m sorry like the moment i read the question my mind went completely blank ( this is also the reason this took so long to answer i’m so sorry 😭😭) so ig this is just an opportunity to ramble about something kinda weird that i’m passionate about :))

anw did you know theres a manga based around the life of the royal executioner of france the time of louis xvi’s reign, it’s called innocent and you may have seen some panels floating around here bc the art is , and i cannot emphasize this enough , literally gorgeous i love it so much

as much as i love it tho i have to admit it kinda sucks ass plot wise lol , especially when you get to the sequel , innocent rouge

if you happen to be interested from this very summarized and also kinda biased ramble ( if i tried to talk about the whole manga i could be here forever dhshsh ) , there’s an official english version coming out in november!! i should warn you tho, tw for literally everything you can ever imagine, like from the first chapter , a large part of it does take place in the french revolution after all so it’s expected but just to let you know!! you can probably find a detailed tw list online if you need details, i couldn’t possibly name them all if i tried 😭😭

okay i dont have anything particularly niche or unknown to offer, but my top three favourite pieces ever are in no particular order,

Primavera by Sandro Botticelli (which i have as laptop and phone lockscreens, prints of, even a pair of socks with a detail on)

Lucretia Borgia Reigns in the Vatican in the Absence of Pope Alexander VI by Frank Cadogan Cowper, which i just find stunning.

and La Belle Dame Sans Merci by Frank Bernard Dicksee which is the only one i’ve had the luck to see in person and it is even more phenomenally beautiful like that, the sweet romanticism and pre-raphaelite beauty really shine.

Wish i could offer something a little more unknown but I hope you see in these works just what I do!
