Continued from here.
The Burn Book was opened and Gael gave Kellan a sideways glance. “You can’t just ask people why they’re white,” she informed him in her perfected American accent. Meanwhile, her foot had made sorta-affectionate contact with the back of Conlan’s head as he settled, only moments after Ronan had landed a pillow attack on his face.
Her brother muttered an unhelpful string of on-brand gibberish, and she rolled her eyes toward the ceiling and left them there for a few moments as he finished. Beneath the surface, her stomach was a bit knotted. Outwardly, her face relaxed into a smirk at Lorna’s painted picture, but then things got serious again. Ronan was dead-eyeing Kiernan (as they were prone to do).
“I signed up fer duty on Asgard’s new ship. They asked fer volunteers and I volunteered.” Ronan said, plainly.
“Regular Steve Rogers over here.” Conlan scoffed.
Despite her blinders, Gael understood his sentiment. It was a bit un-Ronan-like to offer his time when the circumstances were unknown. However... she kicked Conlan in the spine out of principle.
“I... did not leave the south side for this...” Kellan added with a whisper, if only to break the tension. It didn’t. But he saw Lorna crack a smile so, win. His uncles were getting wily, though, and he sunk down a bit into the couch. He could almost hear his father’s voice sayin ‘don’t make me get rowdy on yer ass’.
Morgan snorted past his cigarette at Conlan’s remark and couldn’t help piling on before their older brother revealed his next shocker. “Ye’re right, Conny, Ronan is also 100 years old. A prime candidate for service.” God they were being arseholes. But the darkest-haired Murphy did feel a bit blindsided. And everyone knew it was highly unpleasant to surprise a Murphy - let alone a murder of one.
"And Gael’s comin’ too."
Ho. ly. shit. Morgan squinted one eye shut and put his cigarette out, then readjusted slightly so his weight was on one butt cheek and his legs were primed to spring up and stop a scuffle. The warm hand against his head was a welcome salve for the wounds that might yet still be inflicted.
There it was... She was coming too. Reverie’s eyes bore into Ronan’s ear, which was the part of his face that was pointed her way. His eyes were still locked on Kiernan. And Kiernan’s on Ronan. She looked toward Lochlan with only a shift of her eyes, too unsure to turn her head away from the main event...
Fucking tit fuckers; his younger brothers were monstrous. The peed-o and the savages... Fuck-king-christ. His thick lips pursed, his nostrils flared, and all the while, the large-chested Leo drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly through his nose as he gathered his thoughts. “Certainly the Allfather has a noble purpose and grand adventure planned for this, his vessel’s maiden voyage...” He was annunciating. He was even attempting a false smile. “And of course, you, Ronan, are more than welcome to join him on his quest...” These were words Kiernan used now. They were normal words. The world turned upside down. “I will not, however, allow either o’ the children in my care, to get on a bloody feckin’ spaceship with a pack o’ deities lookin’ fer a fight ta pick!” He stepped forward, Morgan flinched.
“I’m eighteen,” Gael countered.
Kiernan seethed. “Since a month.”

Do you have any regrets? If so, what would you change about them?
“Oh, we ain’t holdin’ back now, are we, handsome?” Marley laughed, shaking her head as she brought her drink up to her lips, though hesitated in taking a sip. “I think life’s too short to have regrets.” Though, she supposed that didn’t mean that she didn’t have any. There was one major one that came to mind, the only boy she’d ever loved being at the center of it, and the way she’d left him in the dust without so much as a look back. She didn’t regret leaving, still to this day stands by the fact that she needed to in order to spare them both from a life of settling...but the way she’d taken off in the middle of the night? Slipped from his arms and packed as fast as she could, least he woke up and tried to stop her, like he’d given her a reason to run, to warrant such a cruel surprise for him come morning when he realized she was gone? Glass raising to her lips as she knocked her drink back, Marley shook her head, as if to rid both the thought and the burn of the alcohol in her throat. “Next round’s on me.”

Mateo & Lochlan | July 12th

Kudos to your barber, you look half decent. Trying to go for the silver fox look eventually? I’ve got a list…how long do you have?
Half decent?
I’m more so just trying to deal with what I have now.
I suppose just start from the top and we’ll see how far we get?

Olivia & Lochlan | July 4th

You’re easily impressed, huh? I guess it’s pretty neat, though…technology and all that. What’d you graduate with? And why are you waiting for life? You’ve gotta go for it and fix your mistakes after. Hold up…are there people in existence who don’t like pizza? If you know of anyone send ‘em my way and I’ll set them straight.
Ah, yeah fuck…the name thing. I’m Lochlan. Or Lochy…whatever feels right for you.
I wouldn’t say being impressed by a social network that allows easy ways of connection with people from around the world in a safe and controlled environment without having to go searching for them is “easily” done. It’s exclusive to pass holders, allows you to search by country and even confirms identity so you know who you’re talking to is real. That’s impressive.
I graduated with honours. That’s a weird question to ask.
Easier said than done. What if there’s nothing to go for?
I don’t know if there are people who don’t like pizza or if they’re just people who can’t eat pizza.

Alice honestly thought it would have taken at least two weeks of being back home for her entire past to catch up with her. It seemed like destiny was around every corner, however, trying to pull one over her. It was a good thing this particular corner didn't taste like regret — it was bittersweet, of course, but there was no way she could summarize all they lived with just one goodbye. She didn't expect to run into Lochlan, but she was glad all the same. "If it isn't my three-times fiancé, father of two of my secret babies, secret affair and the reason I left Hollywood!" She smiled, listing probably half of the ridiculous headlines that were thrown their way throughout their careers. Then, as it was often the case when it came to Lochlan, she pulled him into a fierce hug. There were few things that felt as good as being embraced by him. "I've missed you!"

Gael was having none of the males' shite, and went straight for her safe haven and sister-in-arms, Lorna Murphy. "It's after one, ye lazy crap sack," she greeted her brother for the day.
Morgan's eyes adjusted to the light, probably only slightly better than Lochlan's, who'd actually been asleep. He pushed his floppy hair back out of his face after his sigh of acceptance and took a spot on the floor between Lorna and Gael. His forearms rested on his knees and he leaned forward some as not to crowd the persnickety beauties behind him. "What'd Booger do now?" he asked, then turned his gaze from the carpet up to Kiernan, a slight twinkle in his eye.
Kiernan had fully entered the room, then.
To Lochlan: "Sit down."
To Ronan: "Ye're not hip."
To Kellan: "Ye're still watchin' it. Put yer phone away."
To Gael: "Nice shirt."
To Ronan, after crossing his arms: "So ye wanna be a Viking?"
Okay, Popeye.
“What do ye mean?” Conlan said. Exasperated by Ronan’s mad answer to his simple question. “Just because ye look good in a stockin’ cap and peacoat doesn’t mean yer a sailor… or a space viking?”
Ronan, not prepared for the role reversal of Conlan criticizing him, attempted to shoo Conlan like the annoying bug he was. “Ye asked. I answered.” He continued to stuff clothes into his mostly full duffel bag, until Conny’s dumb face was too much to ignore. “I spent a year on a transport ship going back and forth across the Mediterranean, alright?”
“Ye fuckin’ kiddin’, right?” Conlan said. Flabbergasted. “Okay, Popeye. Before ye pack all yer spinach.”
“Fuck ye, Conlan.” Ronan said.
“You volunteered for an Asgardian Viking spaceship, Captain Ahab.” Conlan said. His mind was entirely blown.
“Fuck ye, ya moby dick.” Ronan said.
“Okay, Horatio blow yer own horn. Ye paddled around the Mediterranean Sea for a semester and now ye need to what - be a whaler on the moon?” Conlan said - then pantomimed a harpoon throw.
Ronan finally stopped and looked at his younger brother fully. “What else am I doin’ here, Conny?” For months, Ronan had felt increasingly out of place in the Asgardian future of it all. “I tried. But I need to feel useful and if ye aren’t useful on a ship they at least do the merciful thing and toss ye overboard.”
“I turn my back for one minute… and you run off and join the navy.” Conlan faked a sniffle, though he wasn’t done with this conversation. Clearly, Kiernan needed to be looped in.
“Fuck ye, Conny.” Ronan smirked and shoved Conlan away, albeit playfully.

LOCATION: Ollie's Tavern
WITH: @lochlanmurphy
The decision-making process that brought Alice to Lochlan's door had been agonizing — which was to say she spent the entire afternoon agonizing over whether it was a good decision to go looking for him. It turns out it wasn't, of course, but she decided to do it anyway. He had turned her world upside down with his confession and his almost kiss the night he went to her apartment, and she was torn between wanting to kill him and desperately wanting to talk about the things that kept her awake. Most of all, she wondered if they kept him awake too. "I was in the neighbouhood," she explained as she walked into the empty tavern, "I now it's closing time, but I'm super hungry. I thought that maybe I could cook and we could talk." After a decidedly not elegant pause, she added: "we should talk, right?"

Where: Port Elisabeth When: Monday 9 am Who: @lochlanmurphy
Justin had been walking around with a twisted feeling in his stomach ever since he had heard the news. He had been acquainted with at least half of the crew that had gone missing, as they had been part of those who had helped looking for his father when he had his accident on open waters many, many years ago. To think they had the same fate as his father terrified him. It was exactly for this reason why he didn’t like stepping foot on boats anymore, or why he got nauseous at even the thought of taking the ferry to Vancouver. And while everyone was doing what they could to help, Justin was still figuring out how he could offer a lending hand. He would remain with both feet on solid ground, that was for sure, but he didn’t want to do nothing in times like these. “How was Knight night? Wow tongue twister..” He uttered, not even knowing if Lochlan had gone through with the idea or not, which was completely on him. He hadn’t thought to check on him until he had asked him to go on a morning hike with him.
