The Fall of Man

Oh, you beautiful soul

I’ve descended to the depths of my own and have realized how much you have pervaded it, 

how much you have inspired it, 

and how much you have held it captive. 

The words you whisper into my ears stir up the storm that is awaiting in my heart. 

My hairs stand on end. 

Oh, how delightful is it to have such a beautiful creature cast herself unto me.

Alas, I am a wretched man; one who perhaps isn’t a man at all. 

For I have taken the angel to be treated as an equal and have thus spited the nature of her essence; 

her unconditional love. 

She was a teacher. 

She was a companion. 

She was a friend. 

Who am I to appeal for myself?

I am not worthy but despite this...I will trek the path of the hell within and slay the demons that have taken me away from my angel. 

I can’t believe I had the key to heaven only to have the devil convince me to trade it as a placation of my insecurities. 

Worthless trade, for the angels love was the sole reason for my existence. 

Now I scream out “fuck the devil”, for I will love the angel even from the depths of hell because one day

I will ascend and take the angels hand so that we may walk through the gates of heaven once more.

Tower Records at Watt Ave (grew up here)- now Goodwill. I’ll never get used to it, or like it, but I just spent over 2 hours in the surprisingly well-organized & large book section & it passes the browse test w/ flying colors. I opted not to buy everything I wanted but found more than a couple treasures. Some things never fail to make me very, very happy. This is my big ole box of CDs and books of poetry that I've collected from my peers over the last couple years of gigging and seeing shows. It's like, this beautiful reminder that people are producing amazing works of art all the time. I've had the privilege to meet these people, and while I may not have made an impact on their lives, they certainly made an impact on mine. I get to connect with everyone again and again!
