As we age, our immune systems decline, which puts us at a higher risk of flu and flu-related complications like pneumonia. Hence, the annual influenza (flu) vaccine is recommended to protect against the influenza virus. Getting vaccinated is a vital part of maintaining senior health, along with arranging the necessary care services like home care in Houston, Texas.

I was helping a patient on the phone today and as I was waiting for the computer to process a refill, I just heard this tiny "rrr" sound.
I was like, "do you have a cat?"
"Oh my gosh, can you hear him?!"
"Just a little!"
"I laid down and he decided I was his victim."
So cute, made my day. Just the tiniest hint of some purrs.

What are your favourite poetry prescriptions? 👀
this is such a fun question, thank you, i love it. i don't think a lot of these will be poems you've not encountered before, but maybe it's useful to have them on hand in case disaster strikes? here are some poems to read when...
you hate your job
you need to get the job done
things and people are too loud and much and close
the world is about to end
you're feeling bitter
you're feeling weltschmerz
you miss your friends
you need to make peace with inhabiting a physical form
you're leaving
you're homesick
you need to hold on a bit longer
you miss your mum

A little in training pants who promises they won't go potty in their pants, but they get caught up in looking at the toy aisle at Target. The only way they know what's happening is their big saying "oh look at you :(" while running over as they get overwhelmed with an uh-oh feeling. Now they gotta go change, and that's strike one on big-boy/girl pants.
oh no!! poor little, it's not their fault that there are such interesting toys in Target! there's just so many interesting toys nowadays, with new, interesting gimmicks and features!! or even just extraordinarily soft stuffies!! there's just so many toys that can distract a little for a bit too long...
luckily for their cg, whether or not they have a diaper bag with a change of clothes, they're in a Target! at most Targets I've been to, the pharmacy and the accompanying family bathroom/extra large single toilet bathroom, tend to be not too far from the toy aisle!
sure, they'll have to pass by a pharmacist to get to the bathroom, but a good CG knows that it's important to get things cleaned up right away - their little can wait a moment while they tell the pharmacy tech that there's been a "little spill" in the toy aisle! ... even if that person has to then radio a custodian to get to the spill
and if the CG has a change of clothes, then it's smooth sailing, as the accompanying sink makes clean-ups a lot faster! but if the CG has to make a quick run around the store to pick up any necessary clothes, maybe even some protection for their leaky little, I'm sure that the little can wait patiently for CG's special knock to open the door again
and if they're too little and teary-eyed to wait by themselves, well, it's not the end of the world if they have to hide their face in their CG's shoulder as they walk around the store with a tell-tale stain on their legs until they get to the check out...

Perks of migraines/photosensitivity: sunglasses on in the grocery store on a rainy day, affecting an aura of mystery and command and general "don't fuck with me right now"
Cons of migraines/photosensitivity: wearing sunglasses inside and kinda looking like an asshole

Man it is worth pointing out that the ACA is a living piece of legislation. Like every year updated protocols and guidelines release to the whole industry from CMS (gov oversight) and I educate professionals in my field on the changes each time. It was built intentionally to be an evolving and improving system that can handle more and more people each year. The ACA is not a stone tablet; it's an arm of federally protected benefits like Medicare that is inherited and maintained and built up by sequential administrations. It is WORKING, it's so reassuring to see it become so intertwined with our American health care model that an entire wing of the industry is now dedicated to the ACA.
Yeah, we want a better health care system, of course we do!! That's why so many people dedicate their careers to supporting the ACA!!! THIS is the fish crawling onto land that can eventually become a health care system that treats us with dignity. We just have to keep evolving it into a more equitable and accessible option. I vote with my head mostly tuned into future health care + research policies and it makes my goals much clearer. Biden has spent 2 separate administrations leading the Cancer Moonshot research funding initiative that has contributed significantly to the boom in cancer breakthroughs. Trump suggested we drink bleach for covid. I trust one significantly more than the other to continue funding ACA and NIH initiatives and interests 🤷

I feel like some vital part of me is sort of. getting eaten away. I have so much to do. but it's all stupid paperwork and forms that make me feel like my eyes are going to start bleeding. meanwhile I'm being haunted by mold!!!
there's a part of me that feels so. broken. I barely have anything to keep up with and I still can't do anything but waste my fucking time??? but that's not right. that's not true.
I'm so tired. I just want to be well.

Sorry, followers, for posting a lot on the isotretinoin post. (I'm gonna go back and tag all those with the tag "isotretinoin".) I'm just... very passionate about my job as a pharmacy technician. Accurate medication information is so so so important!! Accurate information is your best weapon in the fight to advocate for yourself!!!
I personally am on the side of the patient. My coworkers even tease me sometimes for always trying to assume good faith on the part of the patient (even when they sometimes make it really hard to). I take my job very seriously and think it's important.
Most of what I do is talking to patients, typing, counting, billing insurance, etc. I want to point out that I am not a medical expert. That's the pharmacist. They're the ones who went to school for medical training. Being a pharmacy technician is an entry-level position you can learn on the job. A lot of my knowledge is passively absorbed thru working in a pharmacy for 6 years. I still won't dispense medical advice because I am not trained to.
But if anyone has questions for navigating the world of the pharmacy as a patient? Or you have questions about why things are set up certain ways? That's the stuff I can more confidently answer.
If any of yall have questions about your medications, talk to your pharmacist!! If that pharmacist kinda sucked, talk to a different one. (Most pharmacists do care, but they're overworked and exhausted. Altho I've certainly met a few assholes.) Consulting patients on their medications is considering the most important part of their job to the point that it's enshrined in law! And consulting a pharmacist, at least in America, is free. (Can't speak for other countries. I imagine it's similar most places?)
Everyone, please respect the power medications have over your body. They are not things to be afraid of, but they are not to be taken lightly either. There is no shame in taking medications, but there is also risk to be balanced. And accurate knowledge is one of the best ways to do so.
