actually the funniest possible idea for this AU is that in order to cover up the fact that Aang is the Avatar, while also taking advantage of the fact that he can bend all four elements is that he has a different alias for each element. but his 'disguise' only involves him putting on terrible wigs, some of which they don't even keep straight.
sokka's entire fanbase knows that this kid is clearly the avatar. but at this point, they're just as committed to the bit as sokka is. that's not the avatar. that's sokka's good friend from the fire nation, kuzon. the avatar? no, that's toph's good friend from the earth kingdom, lee. don't be ridiculous. why would the avatar make youtube videos?
(gyatso knows all about it, of course. he's glad aang is having such great fun with his friends. :) meanwhile it drives the air nomad elders up the wall. this is NOT behavior becoming of the avatar, gyatso.
gyatso: whatever do you mean? that's not aang. that is simply nanuk from the water tribe.)
modern au sokka building forts when he's young. snow forts, blanket forts, pillow forts... you name it, he's built it. he puts a sign in front that says 'no sisters allowed' until katara whines to her mom enough so he has to let her in anyways. he then grows out of them because he's a cool teenager, who doesn't need to build silly forts...
...at least until aang coaxs him into it. zuko and toph have never built a fort in his life, sokka! this is an emergency! and sokka just nods his head like. you're right. it is of the utmost importance that we correct this post haste.
and zuko is just like. no we don't??? toph is just. sounds good to me. do i get to bust some stuff up in the process? and sokka just puts a hand on her shoulder like. of course you will, toph. let's make the biggest fort the world has ever seen.
sokka: chat, today we're going to build the fort the likes of which no one has ever seen before. why? because zuko and toph have had a deprived childhood, that's why. we must rectify this.
