hi Sarah! would you like to tag 5 songs that you listen to ? :)
hi clo! :D like ANY songs? ok uhhhh i'm gonna try to pick some new stuff i've been listening to instead of stuff I've already posted about a bunch lol. also as usual i got carried away talking about music so i wrote a little about what i like about each song, but for tl;dr purposes i'll tag my 10 people up front: @axiolotl @avoidingdestiny @stoneboss @everoutoftouch @lilybee @famishedst @sealab420 @iloveyoutoodeath @mousey-toy @saisons-en-enfer (<-people i remember interacting with posts about music recently but if anybody else sees this feel free!)
People Are Good // Depeche Mode off their new album Memento Mori. when I went out for goth night last weekend we got there pretty early and they played this while there was nobody out on the dance floor and we were just playing pool, but the DJ apparently heard me go like "ayyy depeche mode!" cus he played it again for us when more people showed up so we could dance to it. it was nice lol
Eat an Eraser // Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum kinda catchy synth rock? like reminds me of synthpop-era Ulver almost? like i said in that photoset i reblogged earlier today, found this on my discover playlist and apparently it's fronted by Michael C. Hall of Dexter fame which is so fucking funny to me. i fell off of Dexter after season 3 and had no idea what the dude was up to til now lmao
More // Low this one's been on intermittent repeat since the vocalist Mimi Parker passed away of cancer last year. i had an aunt who was kinda like a second mother to me, was about her age, and passed away of cancer, so i feel for everyone who loved Low, and this song kinda reminds me of her. i also consider this album to be noise (among other genres) and while i love harsh noise i also think this song shows off the breadth of the genre--here the distortion is used to carry a lovely wistful melody
Things That Scare Me // Neko Case another one from my discover playlist. i thiiiink the lyrics are about how conservative values in America lead to gun violence? but as usual i'm enamored with the guitar and banjo picking--i may or may not be on the verge of a big neko case phase we'll see. i feel like i'm gonna take up some kind of music-making hobby after i graduate and knowing me it's either gonna be a noise project or the banjo. duality of woman or whatever
93696 // Liturgy off their latest album of the same name. it's a 15 minute avant-garde black metal epic--this was Liturgy's closer when they played my city in December and it was insane to hear live
honorable mention: The New York Trader // Lankum only an honorable mention cus you already picked the other lead single off this album lol, but i'm so glad we agree it's a banger!! the last ~3 minutes of this song in particular are nuts. bought a ticket to see them in September even though it's 4 hours' drive away but whatever it was 20 bucks đź‘Ť

what are everyone's thoughts on tendou? like how close are they, and how developed is their relationship? ( can include tendou's thoughts on himself lol )
HEY, I love this question, THANK YOU! I kept things pretty minimal (bc I feel like I could write a book on this stuff, lol) but if anybody wants more in depth answers for specific characters, lmk! - Mod Kat
Ushijima: He has a hard time understanding Tendou, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t value his companionship. Around Tendou, Ushijima knows he can be completely himself, without judgement (and vice versa). He rarely, if ever, understands his references and jokes, but appreciates that Tendou will take the time to explain everything to him in great detail (sometimes too much detail). Tendou is a valuable member of their team, and Ushijima greatly respects his abilities, as well as his attention to their underclassmen. They are very close friends and really enjoy just hanging out in each others dorms when they have free time.
Jin: As an extremely shy first year, Jin started off being extremely wary of Tendou. However, Tendou was persistent in trying to get to know him (as he was with everyone else as well) and eventually Jin discovered that beneath that loud and brash exterior was a heart of gold. As vice captain, Jin appreciates Tendou’s efforts in keeping confrontations calm between team members, and his loud encouragement towards their kouhai. They don’t hang out much outside of practice, but Tendou is his go-to if he needs advice from a creative mind.
Semi: As his roommate for the last three school years, Semi knows Tendou extremely well, probably too well. They often go to each other when they have personal problems they need to sort through, though they have a hard time hiding any emotions from each other since they can read each other so well. Semi sometimes finds himself annoyed with Tendou’s bad jokes and habitual humming/singing, but really values his companionship anyway. Also, he isn’t sure why Tendou judges his own choice in clothing when his is just as bad (if not, worse), in Semi’s opinion.
Reon: Initially, Tendou was a bit much for Reon. As first years, it was often the middle blocker’s antics that were the cause of them being asked to do extra serves or run extra miles. Because of this, he found himself slightly peeved by his teammate. However, as time passed, Reon began to realize that a person like Tendou requires freedom and fun in order to thrive when it’s important (like during a game). Now, he accepts these antics as a small price to pay for Tendou’s dedication on the court.
Tendou: For years Tendou struggled with self confidence, and it was only through volleyball that he was able to start loving himself. Though he started off with low self-esteem, his self-worth blossomed once he joined Shiratorizawa’s volleyball team and bonded with his teammates. Their unshakable trust in him and his risky play style, as well as their complete acceptance of his quirky personality did wonders for him. It wasn’t easy as first, and it certainly wasn’t a quick process, but the middle blocker has come to love himself and his uniqueness. He does still have his moments of doubt and discouragement, but that’s to be expected from someone that went through so much bullying and anxiety for so many years. He’s still a work in progress, but with the help of his friends and teammates, he’s making strides.
Goshiki: As far as Goshiki’s concerned, Tendou-senpai is the COOLEST! When he came to Shiratorizawa, Tendou was one of the first to take him under his wing and show him the ropes. He immediately bombarded him with compliments about his cool hair, questions about what his favorite flavor of ice cream was, what his dream pet would be, and whether or not he’d ever read Shounen Jump. Goshiki thrives on the attention and praise Tendou gives him, and he feels lucky whenever he gets the chance to spend time with his senpai both in practice and outside of it. The two of them are pretty close, though Goshiki wishes he was a bit older so that he’d have more time on the team with Tendou. However, he treasures every second he has with him anyway and doubts graduation will have any negative affect on their relationship.
Shirabu: Tendou is too much for Shirabu to handle… most of the time. In the rare quiet, serious moments that they have together, the setter can truly appreciate his growth from the struggles he’s been through, as well as his passion for the things he cares about. Shirabu trusts Tendou on the court, and respects him as a valuable member of their team. They might not be extremely close, but the mutual respect between the two of them is undeniable, and Shirabu (though he might not outwardly admit it) will come to miss the unpredictable antics of his senpai when he’s graduated.
Kawanishi: Though he may not be extremely vocal about it, Kawanishi has a lot of respect and admiration for Tendou, for both his volleyball and social skills. He has a lot of anxiety about having to fill Tendou’s shoes after he graduates, and worries that he won’t be a good enough replacement when the time comes. Tendou, however, has extremely high expectations for Kawanishi. Sometimes, his kouhai takes his criticisms as harsh and negative, but truthfully they just come from a massive amount of respect and faith. Kawanishi doesn’t feel as though he’s extremely good friends with Tendou (though Tendou would say that they are), but he does feel a very strong connection with him as far as a senpai/kouhai relationship.
Yamagata: If Yamagata wants to have a fun, spontaneous time, Tendou is his go-to. The rest of the team knows that the two of them together are trouble, but in the best way possible. The two of them are usually the ones to come up with plans for team bonding, things like laser tag, horror movie marathons, and video game tournaments. Both of them really just egg each other on when they’re together, so it can be an absolute disaster, but they have a blast together and that’s really all that matters, right?
