I despise Yuanyi so much, I had to make a separate post for just how much I hate her. This woman is pure evil, I swear.

Third Aunt is a hero for speaking up for Niaoniao because this is ridiculous. Niaoniao handled herself better than the adults in the situation, she saved dozens of lives, worked her ass off in the aftermath to treat the injured and support her uncle (the magistrate, no less!!) in rebuilding a ravaged town and EVERYBODY, including the Emperor is giving her credit where credit is due because she really was amazing.

And her stupid mother? This is her reaction to her daughter doing what even the adults in positions of power around her couldn’t and saving literal lives with her incredible courage and common sense:

She’s allergic to anyone giving this child any positive attention. 

I mean, the talent!! This girl is a one-in-a-generation gift to society!

And what is her shit mother’s reaction? 

There is literally nothing that her daughter can do that she will not belittle and minimise and turn into a negative because she is just that much of a crap person and parent.

As always, I love that Niaoniao refuses to give into her bullying and exposes her hypocrisy.

And as always, I love Third Aunt for no letting Yuani’s bullshit slide.

Because, yes, all she does is sabotage Niaoniao and hold her back and then get incensed when everyone with eyes sees her abhorrent, abusive behaviour and calls her out on it. She would rather die than let Niaoniao grow and prosper, because how else would she prove that her daughter is worthless and that she is not the shit mother that she obviously is? 

This was the highlight of the episode for me:

Because, YES, YES, YES!! I AM SO GLAD THIS SHOW IS ACKNOWLEDGING THIS WOMAN HAS NO MORAL AUTHORITY TO CALL HERSELF HER MOTHER!!

I will not even get into her entire speech about how Niaoniao doesn’t love Yao and therefore shouldn’t marry him because you just know that this woman would push her into a loveless marriage in an instant if it suited her agenda and ensured her perpetual misery and confirmation of her bias.
