Today was Lloyd Kiva New's birthday! He was an artist, a warrior, a designer, innovator, teacher and mentor, and he will forever be an inspiration! Cherokee fashion designer Lloyd Kiva New was making and printing his own fabrics as early as the 1950s. He collaborated with many talented artists, and he shared his knowledge with others. I think we need to continue his legacy and keep pushing Native fashion forward. (Image: Kay V. Wiest Collection.
