All he know was that he was shaking, and Karl was staring at him - and - oh god; Karl. Karl who was shot; nearly kiiled - still horribly injured and shouldn’t be walking around ( the chances are slim that he’ll pull through; the doctor said. you should make your goodbyes. ) NICK COULDN’T. He started blinking rapidly as if trying to push tears away. Shaking and nearly crying. Yep, not really the way he wanted to present himself in front of Karl. At least he waited until he wasn’t near Elena anymore for this to happen.

Lay down.” It’s the only thing he’s said to him after defending him to Elena and marching him away. Nick has no possible idea what he must be thinking. ( nick doesn’t even know what he himself is thinking. it’s a lot of screaming up in his thoughts.) ( he thought he lost karl ) ( he thought he was gone forever ) ( he’d been so scared ) ( he’s still shaking, he thought he’d stopped by now ) “Do you need anything, Karl? Water? Tablets? Food?”
