All the multiples of 3 😁
Thanks, babe!! 🥰
3: A song that reminds you of summertime
Chattahoochee - Alan Jackson
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I will not be judged. Also. Hey, Brandi Carlile! I've been very patiently waiting for you to cover this song in your belt-y Raise Hell style. I can hear it clear as day in my mind. Just a suggestion!
youtube
6: A song that makes you want to dance
He Lives In You - Lebo M
This song makes me LOSE CONTROL. What a bop! And I've long joked that this and Michael Crawford's O Holy Night/Bach's Ricercar are the only things that can kinda reel me back into believing in God/Aslan/Mufasa...if only for the track's duration :)
youtube
9: A song that makes you happy
Hodja - Todd Rudgren
Always has me grinning ear-to-ear and trying out different harmonies on each refrain. :)
youtube
12: A song from your preteen years
Whisper - Evanescence
Amy Lee, my beloved ❤️ Who else got into this band because your parents mistook it for Christian music? And who else still remembers all the words to the Latin chorus?
youtube
15: A song that is a cover by another artist
For No One - The Beatles - Liz Gillies
LIZ DROP A ROCK ALBUM I BEG YOU PLEASE SINGLE-HANDEDLY SAVE THE MUSIC INDUSTRY LIZ PLEASE (also divorce your nasty fucking husband and marry me)
youtube
18: A song from the year that you were born
Hope Of Deliverance - Paul McCartney (and kd Lang!)
1993 was an excellent year for music, but this is the song from that year that I still listen to on a regular basis.
youtube
21: A favorite song with a person’s name in the title
Hannah Hunt - Vampire Weekend - I'm With Her
"If I can't trust you, then damn it, Hannah! There's no future! There's no answer!" Listen to this back-to-back with First Aid Kit's cover of America.
youtube
24: A song by a band you wish were still together
I don't have an answer for this one, really. I think break-ups happen for a reason and half the bands I miss fell apart because somebody died. How about a desperately wanted collaboration? Get kd, Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, Phranc, Tracy Chapman, and Brandi Carlile all up on stage together for a raucous cover of Callin' Baton Rouge or something. Restart Lilith Fair/MichFest. Put The Last Shadow Puppets in charge of the music for The Beatles biopics. Have me play Take Good Care Of My Baby on Colbert, with Lera Lynn as a surprise guest who segues us into You Should Know I'm Still Your Baby (a la Melissa and kd kissing after Sleep While I Drive). Annie Clark, Esperanza Spalding, and Andrew Bird should form a supergroup. Lianne La Havas should be blaring on every grocery store speaker. Taylor Swift should take a break. Liz Gillies should release a 70s rock/folk ballad album. Lady Gaga should do electroswing. I don't know!
27: A song that breaks your heart
You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go - Bob Dylan - Madeleine Peyroux
Idk, there are sadder songs. I just starting thinking of my ex. "You could make me cry, if you don't know!"
youtube
30: A song that reminds you of yourself
I'm a looooooooooser! Actually.

Welcome (again) to A Cup-pella, Kai! We’re excited to have you and Ellie Gilbert in the game! Please go through the checklist to make sure you’re ready to go and send in your account within the next 24 hours.
OOC INFO
Name + pronouns: Kai + She/Her Age: 25 Timezone: EST Ships: Ellie/Chemistry Anti-Ships: Ellie/Forced
IC INFO
Full Name: Eleanor Gilbert Face Claim: Liz Gillies Age/Birthday: 26 / June 8, 1992 Occupation: Actress, artist, member of Pamela Lansbury Personality: dedicated, spontaneous, fearless, flirtatious, cocky Hometown: Minneapolis, Minnesota Bio: Eleanor (Ellie) Gilbert was brought into the world on an immensely hot summer night. It was something that would fuel many jokes within her family, stating that the summer heat was what fueled their beloved daughter’s personality. Ellie was always known as a little girl with a big personality. She would wink instead of say thank you, roll her eyes whenever asked simple things such as how old she was, and not have any time in the world for little kids that were far less developed than her. Her parents had their hands full, but they would never give her up for anything.
Once Ellie began to get older and older, her life started getting more and more complicated. Her parents were passionate about Jesus Christ. More passionate about the invisible man than Ellie ever could be, especially since day in and day out, the “Bible” stressed a specific hate against everything Ellie was: a lesbian. She never came out to her parents whenever she was living under their house, knowing that she would be promptly kicked out into the wild Minnesota atmosphere. Instead, she concealed everything about herself. She found herself diving into the performing arts, knowing that was the only thing that was going to make herself happy if she couldn’t be herself. Ellie took high school theatre by storm, always getting the main parts of plays and performances. She was happy on stage.
Once she graduated high school, she kissed her parents goodbye and went where she knew she would always be accepted: New York City. The city that never sleeps was going to become her new playground. While she would do anything to get her chance on Broadway, the older she got, the more she realized that wasn’t something that was going to happen for her. However, with news of bands popping up, she decided to give herself a chance with Pamela Lansbury. It was her first step into making sure everything was set for her. While she was able to be herself, completely, she was still harboring the secret of her sexuality from her parents.
While she did not have any plans for college in the works, Ellie found herself taking acting classes as much as she was able to. She was pursing her singing career within the confines of Pamela Lansbury, but she ached to give more of herself to the industry. She landed a couple of jobs, but they were not as impressive as her landing a starring role in a popular television show. However, it was through a phone call with her parents that they had learned of her sexuality, promptly ending their parentship with their daughter. She struggles with the loss of her parent’s relationship rarely, but sometimes she gets down about the fact that her parents could not even love her for being happy and herself. Pets: N/A Relationships:
Mercedes Jones & Jessi St. James - Their apartment is known among their friends as Glam Central, and for good reason. All three girls are fabulous, with bigger-than-life personalities and dreams of stardom. Their egos clash from time to time, but their main goals are different enough that they rarely if ever are each other’s competition, so they can focus on cheering each other on and enjoying sharing a space with people who know what it’s like to be a star on the rise. Jessi and Ellie have their band rivalry to spice up any boring morning over breakfast, but deep down they both know they’re friends above all else.
Rachel Berry, Dani Harper, Santana Lopez, & Kate Hummel - The other four fifths of Pamela Lansbury. She loves them all, even if they don’t always see eye to eye. Dani is one of her favorite people in the entire world, and her soul sister from another mister. Santana and Rachel are a challenge, but in a good way. She likes them, and she finds their ego outbursts endearing in their own way. And Kate is Kate. Even after telling one another that they could not date for the sake of the band, they dove into a relationship. They had a good run of things, but after a handful of months, Ellie ended things with Kate. While a hint of awkwardness can plague the pair, they try hard not to let it mess with the band. Pamela Lansbury comes before anything else.
Blair Anderson - While Ellie and Blair used to detest one another, their relationship has blossomed through a lot of different stages. First, there was the mutual hatred that lied within the realms of their feelings for Kate. Then, a friendship blossomed between the two, only to be squashed once Ellie and Kate began their run of trying a relationship. However, as of lately, things have been more complicated. The two wouldn’t call one another their closest of friends, but with the strange air of mutual feelings in the air, it’s hard to tell what phase their relationship will turn to next.
Nicola de Rocha - Either a person loves their next door neighbor, or they absolutely despise them. For Ellie, her opinions on Nicola change on the daily. While she would call Nicola one of her best friends, that doesn’t stop her feelings from fluctuating, or stop her from being the biggest pain in the butt that Nicola has ever had to deal with. She has a tendency of getting in her feelings and showing up at Nicola’s door late at night, but the girl always lets her in.

ARIANA GRANDE & JUSTIN BIEBER - STUCK WITH U
[3.50]
Happy 2 B?
Leah Isobel: All sales and streams of this gloopy, negging doo-wop track benefit the First Responders Children's Foundation, which is a lovely gesture that makes it feel unfair to criticize the song. Of course, a coherent response from the American government would obviate the need for such a gesture at all. This makes "Stuck With U" oddly fitting -- that U might as well stand for U.S., or us. I just wish the apocalypse sounded better. [2]
Katie Gill: Crack theory: this was a trashed song hastily recorded and released because it can vaguely tie into COVID-19. Some of the lyrics -- especially Bieber's -- seem insensitive at best. Everything about the production feels slapdash or rushed. But the biggest factor I've got in this theory is how the song is just so bland. It's a slow dance ballad that you know wanted to be "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" part two, except neither Bieber nor Grande sound sultry enough to move it past mediocre. [2]
Nina Lea: I find this track utterly fascinating. "Stuck With U" nods to the strangeness of this time we're living in, and yet it also simultaneously normalizes our new reality by sounding exactly like several other completely inoffensive, saccharine, retro-throwback pop songs we've heard before. So many of us right now may be wondering -- or struggling to imagine -- how this historic moment will be understood and remembered, and more than anything else I've heard so far, "Stuck With U" has made me acutely aware of how the popular myth-making machine grinds on, smoothing out the complicated present into a cultural memory even as we live mired in uncertainty. Of course two pop juggernauts immediately made a milquetoast ballad pandering to those staying at home, of course this song will be played in the background of quarantine engagement videos and subsequent weddings. "Stuck With U" knows that it is both an ode to the current moment and an inevitable relic. When I listen to "Stuck With U" from the confines of the studio apartment that I'm sharing with the new guy I'm dating, I see the future laid out like a city I've not yet been to but whose layout I know by heart: the slow return to a kind of normalcy; the way many things will have been irreparably changed; the eventual think pieces reminiscing, minimizing, glorifying, analyzing the pandemic; "Stuck With U" coming on the radio at 2 a.m. years later after these feelings have long faded, making me nostalgic for a "simpler time" that never really existed even at the moment of its creation. [3]
Wayne Weizhen Zhang: At times, quarantining in my childhood home with my whole family feels unbearably stifling: everyone is on each other's toes for even the smallest, dumbest grievances. But, in a crooked way, this experience almost feels like stolen time, a secret blessing and privilege to hide at home before being fully engulfed in the adult world. Case in point: my sister and I have not been able to celebrate my mom's birthday or Mother's Day at home for the past five years, and this Mother's Day, we spent an entire day doing nothing but baking a cake and watching the whole third Star Wars trilogy. When else in the world could I have had time to do that? It's this recent reflection on my own privilege that has helped me start to appreciate the message behind "Stuck with U." The song is an argument to make the most of the times, even despite all the chaos and pain in the world, and the picture of domestic bliss presented in the video is too wholesome to view through a cynical lens. [7]
Jackie Powell: The sentiment is admirable here. I appreciate the philanthropic attempt and am turned off by the pettiness of the Billboard chart debacle with 6ix9ine, but I'm not sure if this is a song that makes me "feel good." Instead, I might want to waltz? Will teens who couldn't go to prom actually be dancing to this? A new COVID wedding song, who knows? I guess what's bizarre about this quarantine heart song is that it doesn't mirror a lot of feelings associated with living through a global pandemic. There isn't enough of a struggle. But maybe is that the point of this track's radical acceptance of our current situation? This must be what happens when Scooter Braun is the first listed writer on this single. *Shrug* The best part of the heavily cameoed- "Imagine"-esque video was seeing Liz Gillies, because who doesn't love Jade West or a faux-Cady Heron. But besides Gillies, the only redeemable quality about this track and video are singer/songwriter Blush's backing vocals on each pre-chorus's "oh, oh, oh, oh (ooh)" and the feathery outro. After many listens, this track isn't one that will be stuck on my mind. I guess we are just stuck with it. [5]
Alfred Soto: Grande sings with a natural empathy; she times the release of those voice cracks like a pro. But she's selling horseshit. I don't care how moony the idea of spending months cooped up with your beloved sounds -- I know high schoolers tired of the quarantine who don't reminding of what passed for fidelity in pop lyrics. And being stuck with Justin Bieber is like being stuck with the clap. [2]
