Is there a s8 fic where Scully isn't pregnant but Mulder is still abducted? I think that would be fascinating, Scully becoming self-destructive, semi-suicidal for those 3 months (they kinda did this but didn't go nearly far enough considering the pregnancy) getting to be absolutely unhinged, she and Mulder getting to process (or not process) the trauma/grief of the whole thing without the pregnancy either complicating or simplifying things, it wouldn't just be Mulder figuring out how to go back to being 'Mulder' but also Scully figuring out how to go back to playing reasonable, dependable 'Scully' after months playing the Mulder role

Huh, come to think of it, I don't think I've saved a link to a fic like that. Nay further, I don't think I've read a fic like that. Interesting.

Hmm, I think the closest? one I read was Scully miscarried; and Mulder was returned in a hopeless, worsening condition. It was a short fic-- gimme a sec....

So I have been thinking of the possibility that we might find out who snow's wife is in the fifth upcoming book, but then the dark side of my brain came up with a scary possibility what if ... snow during/ by the end/ by the time of the story actually killed his own wife? Like his paranoid as heck and we know that he intended to marry someone he hates so that he doesn't get "used" again but since he hates whoever he married he might start getting paranoid that she might turn on him and by the time this story takes place he must definitely have had his children at this point and the only reason he was going to marry was to have an hire so after he has his hire his wife would have outlived her usefulness so he might as well take her out before she "betray him" , this might be unlikely but if that's the case then my hatred for this guy will grow more and more even though i don't like Livia (if she's in fact his wife) that's a very missed up thing to happen to someone, if his wife is Clemmie or iphegenia I might get my blood boiling whatever scenario it is I am sure that I will hate this guy even more when the fifth book drops

One of the funniest things about growing up in (and leaving) evangelical christianity is the weird ass media I consumed as a kid - because how the fuck am I meant to explain to people that some of my favorite series as a tween were about Christian dragon-shifters who had to save the world from the rise of Hades, or a speculative fiction series set in the late 21st century where a Water Wars refugee has to travel through virtual reality biblical stories to test whether they are the one to bring back Christianity to “Old Newyork” (I wish I was kidding), or a Jesus-y pirates of the Caribbean ripoff!? Also…veggietales. Just like as a concept.

Like 2000s Christian media was genuinely unhinged and I don’t want to subject anyone to it but at the same time I feel like I lived a parallel universe with the most inexplicable pop culture references…

Leander is 32 in 2024, but 14 of those years were comprised of being a lab rat, and then another 4 of those were devoted entirely to scraping himself (and then Kylie and then later Archer) into a somewhat livable situation. That’s not to devalue his intelligence or say he’s younger than he is- he’s absolutely an adult and he’s very good at planning and logistics- but that I think for him (and Kylie, to some extent, I’ll get into that later) there was a very sharp learning curve where he suddenly needed to learn several new skills that he had never had to touch before. Imagine being dropped in a bus driver’s seat and having to rapidly learn how to drive the bus on pain of everyone finding out you’re an alien? That was his life for a hot minute.

-> There was an oppressive silence for a while until Liv spoke up: "Do I have to keep begging you to trust me?" Sophia shook her head wordlessly at the question. Her voice was calm, even though she couldn't help but tremble unsteadily as she began to speak.

The engineer recounted everything that Dr Winter had admitted. While she detailed the research of the ship's doctor, the concert magnate - who gave away his daughter Nora - the abduction by the Blue Line and the reunion, Liv listened spellbound. Sophia had expected an angry outburst and assumed that her girlfriend would swear revenge and end their relationship, but nothing of the sort happened.

Livia sat rigidly in her wheelchair, which worried her much more. Admittedly, this situation felt remarkably like that moment on Sinhal-Four. The storm simmering inside the officer couldn't be far away, even if Sophia was unable to put her finger on it. Nothing on the woman's face revealed what was going on behind it. Only the gravelly expression on her features suggested that something was wrong. However, Sophia didn't need to analyse it in depth to know this - her intellect was more than up to the task.

They sat opposite to each other for what seemed like an eternity and Sophia recounted, explained and lamented everything that had happened. She was only interrupted by her throat, which was becoming dry over time, forcing them to take an involuntary break. They each drank a cup of tea together and remained silent. Liv didn't even verbally answer the question about the type of tea she wanted to drink. She only nodded in confirmation at Sophia's first suggestion.

Finally, the engineer ended with Dr Winter's warning about what might lie dormant in Livia. They remained silent for a while and the threatening feeling inside Sophia reached its peak. She was all too aware that the tempest would soon break out.

At some point, something stirred in her partner's features as her lips began to quiver before she whispered, "Thank you for being so honest with me…" Sophia, who had been sitting on the edge of the bed again since her break, stroked the sleeping duck's head.

"Do you want to be alone or should I stay here?"

"I don't know…"

She could clearly see the moisture gathering in her girlfriend's eyes. The officer immediately wiped the harbingers of tears from her eye sockets as if they were shameful proof of her humanity.

"All I can feel is emptiness … There's nothing left … I'm not Livia, I'm not Elfie - not 87 - but Nora?"

"That's not true. For one thing, I'm here and for another, you're very much Livia - my Livia."

"Is that me?! That's not me. Nobody has forgiven me. I don't deserve a name. Nora is dead and Livia is a lie…"

Despite her efforts, the first tears made their way down the officer's cheeks before her shoulders began to shake as if she was cold. Sophia stood up, crouched down in front of her girlfriend to be at eye level with the woman she loved so much and clasped her hands.

"No matter what happens, I'll stay with you."

"You have no control over that! What if you die? Then I'll be alone again … You're the only reason to go on…"

Sophia shook her head gently. With a firmness in her voice that surprised herself, she continued: "I'm not and I shouldn't be. If it happens, you'll have Maria, Arthur, Ela and all the others. Besides, you are enough and you don't need anyone to be valuable. I believe that with all my heart, Livia." At her words, the woman sobbed heartbreakingly as more and more tears ran down her cheeks. The engineer hurriedly bent down and hugged her girlfriend tightly.

"Who am I?!"

Sophia stroked her back tenderly and spoke to her at the same time:

"I'm here, Liv, and you're the woman who gave me my light. It doesn't matter who you were … You are Livia because no one has to forgive you, except yourself. Whatever you did in the name of the Blue Line is irrelevant, because you are not a vengeful spirit or a weapon - even if you once were."

The engineer took a deep breath, broke away from her girlfriend, lifted her face with her right hand so they were looking into each other's eyes and spoke with everything she felt, "I love you, Livia." Liv howled and threw herself forwards into Sophia's arms, who welcomed her with warmth and security. She noticed a change in the officer's weeping, however, which sang not of despair but healing. <-

Summary: I actually liked this anthology. Seeing various Disney movies in a way that I never thought of. I wished that some of these short stories were actual novels. I took my time with this book because I am a slow reader. But once I got into the book, I could not put it down!! The stories vary in length; and they are fast paced. I am just slow at reading. It should take the average reader about a week or so; give or take a few days and how busy they are. However, this book is very easy to read. The reader will love the short stories and wish they were part of the story; or at least the story was a bit longer.

I highly recommend to anyone who loves Disney movies and wants to see a spin on some Disney classics.

The clip came across my feed again today and so I am once again asking…has anyone ever written an essay about the “if it weren’t for the baby” line as an allegory for anti-abortion activism in the united states

bc let’s talk about the motherfucking parallels of the crowd screaming and crying about a fake baby’s life while the teenage “parents” are fighting to the death in an arena. only for that fake child to potentially grow up and fight in the same games for that same crowds entertainment. and how the political leaders of the anti-abortion movement call for “saving babies” only to put laws in place that put them at risk in schools and prevent them from learning about themselves and their history and gaining access to medical care and and and…

does this essay exist? please tell me it does and I can read it bc I can’t stop thinking about it, and the parallel has haunted me for yeaaaars
