Thoughts on Fit's Last QSMP stream- spoilers ahead
Tumblr media
It is Thursday, May 23rd, 2024. 2:36pm EST when writing. And I am disappointed in myself. Not for anything Fit, the server, the admins, or anyone besides me has done.
I hoped. And once again, I am expectedly crushed. I had a feeling that Fit would take himself out of the equation in the way he did. There would be no Pac Camio (ghost or living), no sight of Ramon either. Just business, as Fit is one to do.
But god did I hope for something out of a fanfiction. The biggest contenders were Pac's ghost or a hallucination speaking to Fit at the bottom of that damn hole to prep and escort him to the afterlife where everyone was waiting for them. OR the idea that Fit, after returning to the island, would kill himself in a similar but unique way to Pac and Mike. Regardless, neither happened. But I am very happy in what I witnessed.
I won't get into too much there will be vod watchers who accidentally stumble into Tumblr- to which I tell you, GO WATCH THE DAMN VOD.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed the Fit abused in-game mechanics to justify his survival down there. However, it calls into question whether or not he took up cannibalism again (writers you know what to do) in which I digress cus that a conversation within itself. I also appreciated that Fit made the effort to check up on more people other than just Pac and Ramon. It sounds like "Yeah, ofc." but let us remember that most of us (and I could be wrong) are shippers, and our yearning for Hideduo kind of blindsided the other relationships q!fit has. (This applies to me to just so yall know)
What fit did to justify or at least give credence to Ramon's character was sweet and I really hope we get some Ramon-centric fics about the possibility of his survival in an otherwise abandoned world, similar to his father. I may do that on my own but definitely not today. Mr. Fit Em See fucking wrecked me and I really could use some fluff right now. Whether it be at my own hand or someone else's, I could not care less.
Hueveitos, we are all going through it. And I bet on all the money I have that Twitter is going insane, Tumblr is dying, and Fit is either taking a well-deserved break or laughing his ass off at us. Probably both knowing that fucker. The brilliant bitch he is. I apologize for not liveblogging, I was enamored with what was going on. But we all were lol
Anyway, I'm probably gonna listen to the music Fit included in the finale and daydream of better days for q!Fit. Ones where, maybe, in another life, something happened on Madagascar's end where the tech didn't work and Fit was suspended in the QSMP for the rest of his natural life. Maybe Ramon is fine enough and just wondering, looking for Fit in an otherwise empty world. Hell, in another life, Pac waited longer for his American boyfriend. Maybe everyone did. Maybe the kids didn't get sick, maybe they all died a week or so after they were found. Who knows!
But with what we were given, and who we had to spend that time with, I know that I'll always look back on the Qsmp in a similar vein to another sorry sap of a sever I know. The memories will persist, the story will continue to be told. The world will keep spinning, and I will keep writing.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in the experience whether it be seen or unseen admin, CC's who somehow found this post on a hellcite, any and all fandom goers that I have stumbled upon in search of solace from the canon, and my girl over discord! I DON'T KNOW YOU AT ALL BUT YOU'VE HELPED ME GET THROUGH THE LAST LEG OF THIS JOURNEY!!
Here's to tomorrow everyone, regardless of what happens! I love this community and I sure as shit hope you guys don't become strangers!

Suzani reads AF: Chapter 3 - In The Mountains
All the other chapters: Prologue Chapter 1 - Bee Stings Chapter 2 - The Silver Touch
I’m reading AF and liveblogging my response. This is partly because RH’s books are so densely woven that I want to make sure I catch every detail I can on the first read. I pounded most of the other RotE books, and discovered an insane amount of details on my second and third read-throughs that I completely missed the first time. I’m also inventing reasons to slow down because i want to savor the fuck out of this book.
I will not be responding to any comments on these posts until I’ve finished the book - to save myself from spoilers.
And I just wrote a bunch of junk so that you could turn away before the spoilers in case you made it here by accident.
Spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk
Predictions based on chapter title: We’re in the mountains. -_-
Preface text: I don’t get this one. I don’t enjoy it either. Well ... I *get* it. Someone’s watching serpents hatch and capturing while an Other watches. I don’t like this at all. It’s bad news bears. AND it’s being done by a White wearing green and gold, colors we just learned were associated with Withywoods. Is it Beloved being so sinister? Is it Bee herself? Is it someone from a very long time ago? Is it metaphorical? Will Amber win over the keepers of the blue and gold dragons only to be turned on by Heeby and Rapskal? Is it a metaphor about how enslaving other will only lead to them turning on you and consuming them? The whole thing feels very ominous and I don’t want Heeby to eat Beloved. Or Beloved to enslave serpents.
Bee wakes up: You know, the first time I read a Bee-narrated chapter, I was angry and stressed about it. This wasn’t the Fitz book I was looking for! When the messenger turned our to be not Beloved, I was furious! I had skipped over RWC to go straight to the Fitz and the Fool books after Tawny man because I was so intoxicated with the OTP. The slow-downs and re-reads have forced me to appreciate the series from a perspective that incorporated more than just skimming the passages until I got to the next occurrence of the OTP being in the same room together. I’m really glad this change happened for me, for a few reasons. It allowed me a greater appreciation of what a true master of the craft Hobb is. It also allowed me to fall in love with all these other characters! Mostly Lant and Bee, but the rest of them too.
So I was really happy when this book opened with a scene of badass, 8-year-old Bee clobbering her kidnappers in the face with a club, and never ever giving up. She’s amazing. She’s inspiring. And give me another story of any genre where the true hero is a magic 8 year old girl ... and it’s as cool as this?
Dwalia and Alaria’s character progression: Dwalia’s coming across as more desperate and petty and cruel than she even did in the first chapter. I wonder where this is going to end up ... The closer we draw to her character, the worse of a person she is revealed to be. And Alaria is suddenly a threat, when before she might have been a character Bee could have turned into an ally. A petty, cruel threat. Dwalia is a person who hold the power of intimidation on those around her, and the people around haven’t yet figured out that there are more of them than her. AND we learn that Dwalia was perhaps in love with the Pale Woman, and this all was a revenge trip. This makes her even more dangerous, I think. I love the detail of her just assuming that the values of another culture (regarding Chalced and Kerf’s family) don’t matter, and she can manipulate any situation to get her way.
New names Symphe. Who is Symphe? Are they one of the four? Symphe might be french, but it popped up in an old english dictionary as part of a root word for the harmonious implications in the word ‘symphony’, and the ‘sym’ aspect as a root for the work ‘sympathy’. So ... someone often in agreement with others? Someone passive? A supporter? And then .... is it possible that Symphe picked the luriks she picked to accompany Dwalia to attempt to turn her away from Bee? Is it possible that Symphe is on ‘our’ side?
Also, this is a good time to bring up that the word ‘Kerf’ means ‘cut.
Ilistore! The Pale Woman finally has a name! And uh-oh, some heavy implications with this one ... Ilistore sounds not unlike ‘illusion’ or ‘illusory’, which would make sense, as she used the Skill to blind people a lot. But what it really sounds like is ‘Alastair’ or ‘Alaster’ - which mean ‘defender of mankind’, ‘avenger of evil deeds’, 'he who does not forget', 'avenger', 'persecutor', 'tormenter’, 'one who suffers from divine vengeance'. So ... what if she was the actual right White Prophet after all? Obvi a sociopathic evil bitch, but ... what if she was also ... right?
Prillkop Oh man. I wanted so much for this dude to have been a bad guy luring Beloved back to Clerres instead of a good guy who’s probably dead now.
Bee’s Treasures In addition to Per’s hat and Molly’s candle, she now has Lady Thyme’s shawl. Taken of necessity, but still portentous? But Dwalia get the item that was Fitz’s. That’s probably not good, whatever it was. Bee’s First Kill Reppin’s slow death reminds me of the first time I read the scene in Assassin’s Quest where Fitz has to listen to a very young man cry in the road until he dies of the slow poison he had given him. The difference is, Fitz is somewhat tormented by the experience, even though it was the only way to save himself. Bee regrets, but with Nighteyes encouraging her, knew she did what she had to survive. Reppin, Alaria and Vindeliar God, these three are like watching middle school social dynamics play out in front of my eyes. Fucking ow. I really hope Vindeliar makes it out of this in one piece. It’s not his fault he’s been used like this and treated so badly. Important Plot Points I think (for now) that Symphe, Coultrie and Capra are all of the Four. Confirmation that Whites (at least Beloved) have multiple catalysts.
Hoo boy! So ... the Unexpected Sun’s victory is supposed to be absolute, and the recapturing of Beloved proves (to the Servants) that Fitz was not the Unexpected Sun. The reasoning for this is a key to understanding the way they think: victory is the destruction of their opponents. To lose any one aspect of a conflict is to negate any success. This is very different from Beloved’s approach of ‘one little ant at a time’. It shows their paranoia. It shows as well that they see themselves as in battle against something.
Beloved’s catalysts: an assassin (Fitz), a nine-fingered slave boy (Wintrow, who Amber completely missed out on any contact with until everything was over), a ship’s captain (could be Wintrow again ... could be Althea? even though she wasn’t technically a captain. I don’t think it’s Kennit, although it would make complete sense if it was given his historical significance. Wouldn’t it be a damn laugh if it was Grag?), a spoiled girl (Malta, duh), a noble bastard (Fitzy Fitz. Or ... Chade?)
Vindeliar had, or has a sister.
Beloved probably didn’t escape, but was deliberately released. Seems likely. He was a fucking mess, not a Shawshank.
DUDE! The White that Beloved one was is TOTALLY singing through time at Bee! Is she also trying to manipulate Kerf? Did she push him to do what he did? It’s basically because of him that they go through the pillar as they do. When he says “Darker than Death” .... what does he mean? The blood? Bee?
“So, I had that.” THIS IS MY FAVORITE LINE SO FAR!
Dreams Alaria dreams the destroyer (currently being assumed by me to be Fitz) brings foul fumes and death. An acorn (currently being assumed by me to be Bee) is taken inside what I assume is Clerres and becomes the destroyer. Bee mentions the dream from Fool’s Assasin with the puppet with an acorn head, being wielded by what I had assumed was Beloved. I’m going to go back and look at that one again - I had a hard time with it the first time around bc, much like the dream in the beginning of this chapter, it implied that Beloved was a Bad Guy. Reppin dreams that destruction comes (and for her, it does sooner than others.) Vindeliar dreams what seems to be poiting us to the same concept - Bee is brought to Clerres, is ‘opened’ or ‘crushed’ and that triggers a big destruction.
You know, when Hobb really pushes me to expect a certain outcome of a situation, i just don’t know if I believe her.
Bee holds a torch under a wasps nest at a crossroads (could be where they are now, with Dwalia being the wasp’s nest.) I like this theory because it ties in beautifully with Kerf’s assertion that killing for no reason will harm Bee if she does it, but won’t harm Dwalia if she does it, by comparing Dwalia to a wasp. As Nighteyes said in Fool’s Errand of Fitz.
A scarred girl weeps with Nettle while they hold a baby. Is the scarred girl Nettle’s unborn baby, changed from her contact with Tintaglia? Is Bee the scarred girl, and the baby her niece? Will be she back home in time for Nettle’s child to be born? A man burns porridge, (no idea on this one) the wolfpack (the Farseers?)howls in despair. The blackness of the destruction is acid, and brings down dragons, destroying their wings.
**There is a thing that only Bee can do!**
And at the end of it all, Bee cries out to her father. Because she loves and needs him --- but will it be a Skill call?

Trespasser Liveblog, Part Four: The Keeper and the Betrayer
In which Menel has a disarming experience. Featuring rampant headcanoning.
Obligatory angst re: my party being trapped on the other side of the Eluvian, truly helpless now, and the last time they saw Menel things were looking truly horrible, and this is going to be a long conversation cause Solas likes to hear himself talk and that whole time they’re stuck there helplessssss. Cassandra just finally reunited with Menel after they were separated by their respective duties and now it seems like they had so little time time, and Sera is holding back the urge to shoot arrows at the stupid mirror cause that will only make things worse but she can’t do anything, everyone left to shoot is dead or gone, and Dorian is a mage who was able to work out a way to travel through time once but for all his brilliance can’t figure out how to unlock the Eluvian
And on Menel’s end realizing they didn’t make it through, Menel who had taken comfort in at the very least his friends were at his back, and now they aren’t, and with the chaos of the battle and rushing through the eluvian he hadn’t held on to those last moments, Menel whose pain at being alone is mixed with a bit of this chilling instinct telling him that of course it would be this way
So I recall petrification is in some of the mage spell trees but that seems to be less permanent? It’s hard to tell sometimes with mechanics to story and what qualifies as average magic. Definitely petrification on that scale is insanely op.
Well, Egg, haven't heard your voice in a while, especially because I did two whole DLCs between Inquisition and Trespasser
Goodbye Viddasala and the tragically plot-irrelevant book on your shoulder
“That should give us more time” isn't comforting
Wait I can flat out say he's the Dread Wolf???
YES
SWEET CREATORS YES
I was not looking forward to having to deal with the “legasp you’re Fen’Harel I’m so surprised it wasn’t obvious or anything” dialogue and it’s so in character for Menel to piece things together especially as he was meant to be a Keeper, he knows the lore
Plus it’s amusing that the Viddasala thought she knew everything but Menel pieced together the actual truth
I do wonder if Menel had happened to pass this information along to the party with everything going on cause with his anchor breaking down he could die before that and it’s probably important information
Actually, he almost certainly wrote a letter to those he cared about in case he didn’t make it and at some point I should write it out cause angst
When I watched @inner-muse play I kind of found the ending anti-climatic cause I guess I was in the big final boss mindset and the saarebas didn’t feel like a final boss but then the Viddasala gets turned to stone before you can confront her. Playing it now though, I find it really works, which is to some degree being more invested in and attuned to the story and knowing that in the end the Viddasala was sadly just another pawn in the chess game, but I also think the choice of character helps. Menel is a thinker and diplomat and teacher, only fighting because he’s forced into it, and this entire DLC was trying to resolve things peacefully and just getting violence thrown at him instead of debate or answers, so ending this with a conversation actually is a relief and an achievement. Plus for Menel this is the equivalent of a final boss battle. It’s of wits and wills and old Dalish tales, of knowing that you’re facing the Dread Wolf himself and he will play with truth and lies like the trickster god he is.
Yeah, title that all replaces your name Solas does have a point there and yet not. They might have similar trappings, male elven rift mages who like learning and studying ancient things, who are known more for their titles than their true names, but their choices are what matter. Menel listens to others and is willing to accept change, to take the scars and heal even when it’s hard, and seeks to use the past to move forward, and Solas is stagnant despite all that he experiences. I love literary foils.
Well at least he admits the Dalish legends have some truth to them
Menel is sympathetic to some degree, but still on guard, and still trying to wrap his mind around caring for Solas as a friend and being aware that this is the Dread Wolf, and while Dalish legends may not have all the details, they generally have a core of truth, and the Dread Wolf has already deceived him before.
Okay saving the elven people is good, we’re currently being subjugated and divided in numerous ways and there’s a great deal of work to be done to move forward—wait what is that about the world dying?!?!?!?!?
Our people OUR none of this yours versus mine bs, Solas, the elves live even if they’ve grown and changed you’ve learned nothing
“I never thought of you as someone who would do that, Solas”
Be a jerk, maybe, but genocide, seriously?
Menel uses guilt trip. Like Josephine, he kills with kindness. Unfortunately it is not truly successful because Solas is all tied up in his I feel guilt but your deaths are a sacrifice that I must make to assuage my guilt about the other apocalypse I caused. Ugh.
“I had plans.” re: the fact that the Evanuris/Creators will be released by tearing down the Veil
Yeah they've gone so well so far that’s so comforting
I’m sad I can't ask about the Forgotten Ones. Cause Dalish legend says those were also sealed away with the Creators so they should also be a concern if Solas tears down the Veil. I still think the Forgotten Ones are the Old Gods, but I guess the Forbidden Ones like Xebenkeck could also be a possibility.
"I am not a monster"  Not taking pleasure in destruction doesn’t mean you’re not a monster, just a different flavor of monstrous you Egg.
You know, I don’t entirely buy the running out of time thing. I think he gave just enough time to answer the questions he wanted to answer, and stopped before Menel could strike any further under the pretense of “there’s nothing I can do”.
I’m not sure Menel could have survived with the Anchor but I’m not ruling it out. I can’t take Solas at his word cause of course it fits his agenda to claim that Menel couldn’t have handled it and Solas was almost certainly purposely aggravating it. Plus even if Solas believes that a mortal couldn’t have handled it and all he was doing was speeding up the process of the Anchor breakdown, he tends to underestimate mere mortals a lot.
Also the contrast between their outfits is so good and I need to write a separate post on just that
...I can’t believe Menel is being conflicted about the saving versus defeating thing, really Menel
Then again it is so like Menel to wish that he could solve this problem by changing a god’s mind rather than a war against a god cause he knows the latter is insanely dangerous and will likely result in mass casualties, but he’s angry at being manipulated and frustrated at himself for being duped and knows that the fact that Solas hasn’t been persuaded despite learning the people of modern Thedas are people doesn’t bode well
Menel tries so hard to be good and kind and Solas was a friend and he’s still dealing with accepting that “Solas” never was. Just another humble guise of the Dread Wolf. Cause in the end regardless of whether Solas’s opinions of people in this world were changed, regardless of the experiences and the teamwork and solidarity in the Inquisition, what matters is that he seeks to destroy this world.
You know Solas, you claim to be wise, yet there are three things all wise men fear: a sea in a storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man, and Menel is pissed.
Still, it feels like a defeat. All of it really. The Qunari are repelled, but the world is imperiled again, and by a force far more tricksy than Corypheus, and Menel ends up choosing war over a likely futile attempt to reason with an unchanging god.
The very end of the conversation I headcanon went differently. I love this meta on how Solas probably took the anchor which is BAD, and I feel like Menel as a rift mage would have suspected and picked up on it, and tried to either retain the Anchor or perhaps turn the momentum of Solas tearing it away into destroying the Anchor or having it slip out of the Dread Wolf’s grasp. Better to die than let Solas carry out this insane plan. It was futile, Solas’s plan to weaken Menel was extremely effective and the power difference between them is so insane, but that didn’t stop him from trying. It did mean that the removal was far more agonizing and was far closer to killing him. Menel was definitely on the ground screaming as Solas dismissively walks away. The Dread Wolf disdainful about and pitying these pathetic mortals who can’t be grateful for the time he’s given them, perhaps shaking away the slightly unnerving knowledge that Menel fought back harder than he expected.
Still debating whether Solas allowed the others to run through the eluvian cause he feels bad and Menel’s death could lead to chaos and pain even if he is going to destroy the world anyway and then they found him there cause angst, or whether Menel dragged himself back through the eluvian. Maybe both. Also I like to think Menel’s arm wasn’t fully disintegrated and Cassandra was the one to chop it off and then Dorian cauterized it or something and Sera was again in pain because she can’t put arrows in it to fix things and Solas ran off so she can’t put arrows in him.
Although the logistics of the chopping would be a bit weird as his arm is encased in armor and you would probably not want to be touching the arm to get the armor off to chop it off? Unless the mark was burning to the point where it was melting the magically reinforced armor which is a terrifying thought.
And somehow Menel mustered the strength to march into the Council.
Yeah, Solas is a threat but it’s official I’m disbanding the Inquisition
Okay not sure what speech to give on the disband side
That speech worked well “We will not become what we once fought against” indeed
Everyone's legasp
I was kind of expecting a mic drop with the book cause dramatic but given Menel would likely never do that to a book handing it off to Josephine works too
Sorry to leave you there after such a short speech but I’m pretty sure Menel collapses not long after
And the party together one last time
Now for epilogue slides! I love the art style here
Oh good no mass unemployment issues post-disbanding I was honestly worried about that
Cassandraaaa
Staying on the Exalted Council and working with Leliana, and the braid
And the fact that she and Menel don’t give up their respective goals, but still frequently meet up excellent
Plus the image of them suddenly appearing at each other’s side is beautiful
That smile too
Also hurrah for Josie bringing back her family’s trade
So we don't know what happened at Weisshaupt except it's apparently settled cause Hawke is back in Kirkwall and Thom Rainier is walking in and out no problem?
I wasn’t expecting any news on Mahariel but I’m still disappointed. At least I know she’s probably alive since the Warden is mentioned if they romance a Leliana made Divine
Sad they don’t mention any efforts to cure and help tranquil
Aaand nothing about Dalish. Admittedly in this game there’s no opportunity to do anything for the Dalish cause it’s so human centric with ancient elven aesthetics and antagonists. I just really really am terrified because of the vallaslin on the elf in the epilogue slide that the writers are going to retcon things and have the Dalish side with the Dread Wolf despite him literally being the villain in their story and him constantly dismissing and hating on the Dalish
And nothing about the Well. Given all that happened you’d think that the Well would have come up for more than one dialogue option and I admit I really wanted at least a hint of what the consequences of the ending of Inquisition were on Menel’s geas.
Ah, final scene
It’s really nice to see Leliana in her spymaster outfit again.
Honestly this is a dream team: Cassandra, Leliana, Scout Harding. And likely Josephine and Sera are helping too despite officially being involved in other things.
The Inquisition arguably saved Thedas and changed Menel and ended up despite its Chantry origins bringing people from a variety of backgrounds together, and accomplished some impressive things like giving the mages at least some degree of independence, but it was in a way a quasi-antagonist, very close to becoming a different sort of evil and Menel was very aware of that throughout. And now he is finally free: he’s passed through the fire that changed him and many others, and it is done. He still has a lot of healing and soul-searching to do, especially given the really really stupid awful revelations on elven history in Trespasser that I wish I could just deem not-canon, and also has the sword of Damocles that is his geas to Flemythal, but he's finally moved forward to another chapter of his life.
And I still can’t believe its actually over.
