But then again, you can’t deny that he saw WYB’s signature. He knows what it looks like. They both spent so much time signing stuff together during CQL promotion so it’s safe to say that he recognized it. If they are sworn enemies like some people love to imply, why would he sign near WYB’s? This is pretty clear to me, it’s his way of being right next to WYB. 🫶🏼

I have talked about it initially here, but that was more of calling out fan etiquette than the cpn implications. some bxgs really fell into the brainwashing package of solos and i wanna discuss that here cause this fandom is not only about candies but being firm in our belief. you had shrimps saying wyb is the enemy cause he is all cozied up with gq, and some bxgs bought that. they were “disappointed” with wyb and made up stuff about him doing things against his will. then the same people were slapped in the face when yibo continued to work with him for his album which is about as personal as it gets. only a few respected wyb’s decision and trusted in him & xz. motos are saying gq will never work with someone like xz cause he is the enemy, and that’s why wyb is comfortable with rocco and team. which is proven to be wrong now cause he is working with them. who knows, they may even do a full feature for LOCH. this is a lesson to bxgs, do not rely on solo sob stories to make sense of zz and wyb cause they only see one side of the story. they were always okay with GQ. Maybe GG was hurt at some point but he moved on and so should the fans. i just hate the feeling that ZZ & WYB were so happy with the collabs they did with GQ, in the meantime, BXGs who are supposed to understand them the most were nowhere to be found. we should do better next time.

most of my complaints re: tears of the kingdom center on botw exhaustion - that i'm sort of tired of the map and have no more joy of exploration anymore after 100%ing such an enormous game (almost twice - on the first file i did everything except the korok seeds, but i got enough to max out my inventory i think). but every once in awhile i will come across an area that looks totally and completely innocuous and get incredibly tense out of nowhere. and sure enough in a minute i will remember, "a guardian used to be here," or "a lynel used to be here." it takes a minute, but i do remember! and even knowing they aren't here anymore, it's a little hard to relax. if i were ever to play botw again*, i bet i would feel the same way about areas that have hands now lol. (*highly unlikely given the previously mentioned botw exhaustion - maybe in many years after some other zeldas have come out for me to chew on! i highly doubt i'm going to replay totk either. as much as i love it, this is It. inevitably though there will be dlc so this runthrough won't be my only time playing it Ever)

Lux by Scott Wells: A (heartfelt) review

I'm on page 1.

I've followed Scott's tumblr for awhile (see link at the bottom of the post). I've read his drabbles and the prequel, which I absolutely adored but should be addressed in another post.

I'm on page one, and I'm frightened.

Scott does an amazing job of throwing you into the cellar, disorganizing your thoughts and leaving you scrambling to collect them. Before you as a reader can do that, you're introduced to The Hunter. And oh, what a villian.

Is there anything more horrific than a bad guy who likes pain, who enjoys pain, and knows how to wield comfort as a weapon? No sir.

I'm on page 98.

First, can I say how much I adore Lux? The world feels so organic, the characters so real that I'm drawn into it from page one. It feels like the world could be really, truly a place I could go, it feels like a place I KNOW. I can touch it, I feel like, and that isn't something that usually happens. The quarrel between "normal" people and magic users mirrors the sort of struggles that I find myself facing a lot, it almost satirizes it while still managing to be completely serious, heartbreaking, and gut-wrenching. It really feels like I could walk down those streets.

And the characters. OH. BOY.

I know I mentioned the characters feel organic but I can't begin to describe it. PTSD is something I deal with daily and to see characters with such realistic and ugly symptoms is so refreshing I might actually cry.

No really, I might.

Characters with trauma and PTSD are rarely represented, and when they are it's damn near romanticized. This book doesn't do that in the slightest. As a reader you get to expierence the disorientation that trauma symptoms can bring about, and it's done in such a fluid way I can't help but be in a bit of awe. Scott doesn't shy away from the confusion, the disassociation, the anger and mood swings. I've never felt so wholly represented.

Lux, the main character, isn't the sort of main character you come across very often. He's queer for one thing, and that's already rare (THANK you, Scott). Lux is sweet, scared, well mannered and terrified, but he's also brave in his own right. It's a nice diversion from the usual hardass, good-at-everything MC.

The supporting characters are just my favorite. Kiara? A GEM, I'm in love with her. Anders? While it takes a chapter or two to really become invested in his character, it's easy to become attached.

Something I love in stories are the little things, everyday activities. They're the most interesting to me. They show a characters true nature. I love that this book has it, it makes you feel like you're there and in the moment, like these characters are personal friends that you know.

Oh this was always my favorite drabble. I LOVE watching whumpees break, finally, and the whumper stopping and thinking.... fuck. I went too far. No matter how old I get it will be my favorite thing.

A big arc in the main character's journey is the story of Cole. The ten year old is brought down to the cellar while Lux is in captivity, and it awakens a dormant protective streak in him. I never quite understood Cole's arc just from snippets on Scott's tumblr, but reading it now in order from start to finish... I can say it is probably my favorite.

Lux battles with two main issues in this arc, the want to give into his conditioning, and the want to keep this little boy safe. And miraculously, the Hunter's training is never what he picks. He never chooses to forego some of the pain if it means Cole will be hurt.

Something I really love is the utter confusion you come across in this part of the book.

Lux's issue with telling the difference between real life and fantasy has been addressed, but not like this. Scott has a way of writing that puts you in Lux's shoes, that makes you just as unsure as he is as to what is really happening.

It's fucking captivating.

Emory and Luz are perhaps the cutest couple I have read about, and the chemistry between them is captivating. Even I was blushing. There's one part that feels... rather emotional to me, though maybe it isn't meant to. Emory is speaking to Lux about hesitation, about saying no, and a particular piece of dialogue comes up.

"If you don't want to have sex, Lux, you don't have to. No matter what. If you don't even like it ever, that's okay, it doesn't make me like you any less."

It's a very profound moment to me at the very least because... that's not a message I often see in books, television... I've only heard it from other people talking to me directly. It's comforting somehow. As an asexual guy who isn't interested in sex, I rarely hear this message, and I am so, so glad it was included.

Lux as a character gives off an... asexual sort of vibe.

And yes, maybe it's caused by trauma, maybe it's not, or maybe I'm wrong entirely. But asexuality as a reaction to trauma doesn't make it any less valid, that's what mine is based off of.

I could actually cry seeing a character like this.

And then we reach the ending, what do I say about that?

Years have passed since I have been truly engrossed and encapsulated into the world of a book. Years have passed since I got to the last page, the last line, and felt a bittersweet sadness overtake me. It's that need to go back, the want to have more and the knowledge that you can't have it.

Lux by Scott Wells is an amazing book that manages to put the heart and excitement back into reading. It draws you in, enthralls you and terrifies you. The way the story is told - through little snippets, through personal and up close moments - is ingenious and makes you think of storytelling in a way you never have before. It reminds you that at it's core, writing a book and crafting a world is innately personal. Throughout the course of the book you'll come to love Lux, you'll come to fear the Hunter... and then you'll learn to pity him.

Brilliant plotline, unforgettable characters, and a story to remember.

So, this song was deleted from YT last week and I was very upset, since it’s one of those older songs from Francesco that made me instantly like him. I knew that it needed both a translation and a ‘paraphrase’ (like you would with a Latin version in high school LOL) to fully understand it and that took me SO LONG. It was very hard and I believe it’s still not complete yet: there’s something I still don’t get. But! The most is done and I hope you’ll like it!

- I am having some difficulties pin-pointing where the first sentence is from. It looks like another saying (”magna” is generally the dialect version of “mangia” and it’s mostly associated with Roman dialect) but I’ve never heard anything similar (it might be because I am from Northern Italy, tho). Anyway “non fare una piega” litterally translates to “don’t make a wrinkle” and it’s used both to say that something makes complete sense or that someone has absolute no reaction to something. So basically who eats (presumably those rich people from the previous verse?) doesn’t care about anything/anyone else and/or no one questions it. - “Cosa ce ne frega” is, imho, the best way to describe the Italian attitude toward problems. It basically means “what do WE care?” with a very personal connotation. How do you solve unsolvable (or very hard) problems? Whatever, who cares anyway... not our business. - Italians love football and that’s common knowledge. To quote Winston Churchill: “Italians lose wars as if they were football matches, and football matches as if they were wars.” So true, Winston. - We are also very supertitious. The cornetto is one of the many objects believed to be lucky charms. I have no idea why you have to put it on the ground, tho? (Neapolitans, explain please!). The number 17 is also believed to be very unlucky (that’s why you need a corno to nullify its powers. But while you complete the rituals, you get distracted and the match ends!)

Tressette is a popular card game in Italy. - What follows is something we call stornello, a type of folk song which basically has a standard melody and ever changing lyrics. They are usually very funny, irreverent and sexual. “La canzone delle osterie” is famous everywhere and Francesco used it to end the song in the most carefree way. - He rhymed “sette” with “fette” but I really don’t know how to explain if “salami is good cut in slices” is a sexual reference. Salami can definitely be associated with something sexual (c’mon...) but I have no clue about the rest. I’m an innocent soul XD - “Give it to me” is DEFINITELY sexual. Especially referred to a pretty blonde girl XD That too is usually part of the standard stornello lyrics ;)

so an update on my life eh?

well i feel pretty okay, thinking about the past, sometimes i forget, but my life is beautiful right now. stress is the normal kind of stress, the stress of homework, school, career, you know - normal stuff. I just went through my “my blah” tag and remembered that time...im not even going to mention it. I just remember some distinct parts, and looking back on it, i can happily say, i dont really remember much of it. 

my face still hurts tho 

but its okay, i have dance to keep me going, i have friends who are here for me all the time, im living in a great city, im doing cool things occasionally (this week i got to do motion capture for a cool project and i met the guy who does mocap for movies like the force awakens and stuff) and im kinda workin on a career, lol thats probably the only part thats lacking right now. i guess i do have to remember the thoughts i used to have: how much college was supposed to be my way to get away from the world that was given to me. how it was supposed to release me into an endless (ah plethora is my fav english word) space of opportunities and connections and relationships to people. and how it was supposed to take me out. how it was supposed to open my eyes, instead of following the path of the unstable and bigoted. 

there is still the fact of the schizophrenic, im surprised i never posted on here when i found that out. its probably in one of my journals somewhere but im too tired to read through all of that. im not sure how long its been, but heck its been my whole life right? but yeah, im going home for spring break now and that will be a problem to be dealt with. im a little scared. i havent been home for more than 3 days, since the summer. remember august before college, i got scared FOR petu and annie? LOL they are doing fine with him, and better yet, i think petu got his own temper down and annie is hittin the books. its just Mummy now who i gotta worry about but apparently he is always sleeping. so thats good i guess and he gained a lot of weight. im also scared now what if i have it too? i read up on it, and it is in my blood apparently. i dont know, i dont know what to think of that. its always in the back of my head though

New Year

No matter how silly anyone says it is, I think it's very important to reflect on the past year and set goals for the new ones. Looking back, I actually made progress on my resolutions from last year:

1. Know when to keep my mouth shut - I've gotten much better at knowing when I shouldn't repeat things and when to keep feelings to myself. Always room to improve tho

2. Exercise and eat healthy - I'm in better shape than ever right now (minus the last two weeks bc I was sick and eating well during the holidays is a joke) and have made a huge effort to eat mostly clean foods. I still have a ways to go to reach my ideal fitness level but I'm closer than I was last year.

3. Go on more trips - I went on so many! Penn State, NYC, New Haven, Boston, Myrtle Beach, Baltimore, DC, Virginia, Jacksonville FL. Many of those places I had never been to before!

4. Do more social activities that scare me - this is the one where I fell short the most. I did take a chance by visiting my friend at penn state and interacting with new people , which i was nervous about, so that was a success, plus I have more guy friends now which is pretty cool. But I know I can do more. It's sooo hard to branch out but it's so worth it. I've made a few friends through work which is good too, but I need to keep trying and more good things will come!

5. Take a step towards my career - I did find a job in July and have been there ever since. It's not my favorite but I'm making money and getting experience so I can't complain right now.

It's so awesome to look back and see that I did actually work towards the resolutions I set last year. I want to move through this year with those goals still in mind, but I have some new ones for 2018:

1. Work on my career path - yes I have a job, but I would like to broaden my horizons with something that interests me more. I need to devote time to this every week.

2. Get back to the viola - it was necessary for me to take some time off because of injuries and life but gosh do I miss playing my instrument. Joining a group would be a great way to meet people too, I just have to buckle down and do it.

3. Take my fitness to the next level - I've been working out a lot the past few months and it's definitely paid off, but one of my big life goals is to be a fitness class instructor, and I need to work a lot harder to achieve that.

4. Do more for charity - this one is most important to me. There are so many people in this world who have absolutely nothing, and i have been blessed with so much, why I'll never understand besides God has blessed me, but I want to bring comfort to the lives of those who have less than I do, whether it's with money or time. My favorite quote is from my favorite movie, it's a wonderful life: "all that you can take with you is that which you have given away", and I really want to live by that.

5. Save money - I got my first credit card this year and holy fucking shit is it so easy to just swipe and spend way too much money. I need to stop lol

One other thing I want to do is more of a fun challenge, which a friend inspired me to do/I'm stealing this idea from her, but I really want to finish 20 books this year. Last year my friend finished 50 which is insane I don't think I can do that but I've always loved to read and I have so many books on my shelf that I haven't read yet so hopefully I can knock out 20 this year.

Anyway, I'm really hoping this year will be healthy and productive for me. I want to keep getting fit, get to back to viola, give more to others, and just keep growing and focusing on myself (and forget about men bc they're the worst and to stop moping that I'm single). So here's to a healthy, hardworking 2018 (with some fun, too!). Happy new year to everyone!

1: when you have cereal, do you have more milk than cereal or more cereal than milk? More cereal! I’m hella lactose intolerant so I rarely even have milk.

2: do you like the feeling of cold air on your cheeks on a wintery day? Sometimes, it depends if I was already too cold or not.

3: what random objects do you use to bookmark your books? Usually I use drawings or a bit of cardboard.

4: how do you take your coffee/tea? I take my tea with a little honey and my coffee with lots of flavored creamer.
