🔥vinland saga

idk how unpopular this is, but some people think that the pacifism in vinland is too shallow or that it falls in the "if i did this, i wouldn't be better than them" thing, when it's a story about a guy who has spent half of his life killing people, ofc he doesn't want to kill any more. and about the former: it's not a shallow take at all, pacifism is always seen as the best option, but also the hardest to make.

i think that letting ketil alive is the most controversial part in the story, but it's the one part that made me realize how committed thorfinn is to his ideals. killing ketil would basically start another cycle of revenge. killing him would also be "justice" and the "easy" thing to do, but it's another example of how hard it is to choose pacifism.

A random headcanon: not really a headcanon but?? i think it’s not shown in the film BUT in the book it’s said that he was some kind of college student or whatever, and i just think that it would be really funny if in the film he still was one. like. just, college student that dropped and is fucking around with magic. the star thing and all about his heart is just a Very Special And Particular Moment of his life but otherwise? regular guy who dropped college. 

General Opinion over said character: gender envy. himbo king. and oh wow, it’s been A WHILE since i watched howl’s moving castle because right now i remember more book!Howl than film!Howl, i should really rewatch it

ALRIGHT, SO. vi and caitlyn. i really don't have lots of thoughts about them?? and not in a bad way, i just think they're neat and don't have complaints lmao. i really, really enjoy how both of them seem like the characters that are no in either of the extremes, which is the case of. probably every other character seeing their LoL counterparts. i think they can get each other and hhhhh FINALLY we get some canon lesbians. OH, WAIT, YEA. people complained about how the straight couple was explicitly shown whereas the lesbian one wasn't and. huh. jayce and mel knew each other for 7 years, while vi and caitlyn knew each other for, what, some days??? like, lol, i get we want representation, but pacing and development is an important part.

xl and hc are def my type of ship and they're very dear to me, but i also can't ignore everything that goes down in canon and all of the things that are wrong with it. starting w hc being a child when they both meet for the first time and how mxtx just rejects the idea of giving hc proper background. AND OH, the way xl is allowed to have friends while hc isn't and his only relationship and proper dynamic is w xl... huh.

i really reeeally dislike the scene w the cave of ten thousand gods because. well. xl is just like well, this is nothing to worry about. like, huh. i know it's mostly mxtx's writing, but there are things that bother me a lot about their writing and how xl reacts to certain things regarding hc.

BUT. i really enjoy their interactions and the way they just. accept each other. i like how their relationship is so easy in comparison to whatever the fuck was going on w wangxian. i do think that the good things outweight the bad ones, but yea. mixed feelings.

genshin impact: a lot of people were talking about some free game that had just dropped and i got interested, so i ofc downloaded like. a month or two after that, idk. 

fire emblem: i saw people posting about it back in the day and i thought that it looked interesting but it was a switch game and i didn’t own a switch back then soooooo yea, i bought it like a whole year later

✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it?

genshin impact: its aesthetic and probably the fact that i always have to do something there i guess? it’s really interesting to see the new updates especially if it's about the main quest. 

fire emblem: hhhhhhhh, the characters but also the plot. i love unlocking new supports and seeing the interactions of a character with the rest, the development they go through, noticing new little details. also the gameplay! it’s one of those games that i would hate to see other people play but i love to just wander around and talking to every character.

genshin impact: beidou is a mean lesbian and ningguang is a meaner one! xiao is trans, and zhongli is a nb icon. tbh i haven’t really given it a lot of thought?? it’s more about Vibes. 

fire emblem: i know that in canon dorothea is bi but..........  nah, too misandric for that, she’s a lesbian icon. ferdinand is gay and trans, and caspar is just. adhd king. claude is bi. i have lots more but like..... the ones that i have Strong Opinions about.

A random headcanon: in canon he’s Small But Strong, SO he gotta be the Official Carrier of the class and probably has carried all of the Black Eagles at some point because they were injured or just because he felt like it. someone says ‘’i want to go somewhere’’ and he’s like, i got you, and just throws them over his shoulder. also him being close with all of the BE boys but particularly with Ferdinand, I think both of them would bond over the whole ‘’gotta train so we can be better’’ and i’m actually surprised that their supports weren’t about that

General Opinion over said character: he’s my GREMLIN SON, i love his development and how it’s more subtle???? it’s not like he becomes level headed after the timeskip, nah, he’s still a gremlin but now he doesn’t feel bad bc of it and actually gives situation more thought. and his supports are so funny! i love how they go from silly shenanigans to serious stuff like those related to his father

Very nice of you to say any fandom so I can complain about anything. Okay, i don’t usually let fandom ruin things for me but sometimes they really do. kl*nce from V*ltron to start with but also literally everything about V*ltron even if i wasn’t really engaged with it nor with its fandom. S*UKOKU (i WON’T elaborate).

i was about to go with the ‘’s1 wasn’t That Bad’’ take but i’m here to complain so. Vane’s relationship with Anne and Jack pre-s3 sucked. like, yeah, Jack was his second in command and IT IS IMPLIED that Vane trusted him a lot prev s3 but i’m not Seeing it and most of their interactions were very one-sided (the whole thing with Anne is just fucked up, he literally threatened her so she wouldn’t leave his crew). also, Gates >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Billy (i think he was a fan favorite so.)
