Note
I think the fact that Marguerite lived a long and fruitful life of 62 years compared to her sisters Claude and Elizabeth living only 23 and 27 years proves that the mantra of be a slut, so whatever you want is truly the way to live your life.
shdhahdh I mean, well Elisabeth and Claude were also churning out babies in quick succession which probably doesn’t help in terms of longevity and they both died as a result of childbirth. Elisabeth died a day after giving birth and Claude while giving birth.
So like, although I don’t find Marguerite’s sisters to be half as interesting as her and I don’t think that would have changed if they’d been longer lived, I don’t think it’s particularly fair to judge them for that, you know?
We don’t really know whether Marguerite was infertile (I mean not that it matters in terms of like it doesn’t change her intrisinic value as a human person) because although she and Henri never had kids together, nor do I think we have any reports of her ever even being pregnant, while Henri had kids with various mistresses and later with Maria de’ Medici, I’m of the opinion that she and Henri probably rarely slept together. To look at another example, Henry I of England was married twice. He had two children with his first wife, Matilda of Scotland, including the indomitable Empress Matilda, as well as numerous children with other women out of wedlock. He had no children with his second wife, Adeliza of Louvain. However, after his death, Adeliza remarried and had seven children with her second husband, William d'Aubigny, 1st Earl of Arundel. The reason I think this is a good example is that both parties (Henry and Adeliza) clearly were fertile yet had no children together. It’s a good reminder that we cannot be sure what kind of fertility issues were going on in royal marriages.
We also don’t know how far her love affair with Henri de Guise before her marriage went.
In any case, I point this out because if Marguerite were never pregnant, which it appears she never was, this would have prevented her from dying in childbed like her older sisters, which would have gone a long ways towards extending her potential lifespan.
There is a report, though unsubstantiated, that while Marguerite was imprisoned in the castle of Usson, she believed she was going to die and in the farewell letter she sent to her mother, she asked that a post-mortem be performed to put an end to gossip that she was pregnant by Jean de Lard de Galard d'Aubiac, her supposed lover.
Every time she fell ill, there were rumors she was pregnant.
Of course she was long lived, even disregarding that, outliving all her family members including her ex-husband.
Two antecdotes I like about her sisters:
Elisabeth and Felipe were very loving parents to their two daughters and Elisabeth had a very warm relationship with her stepson, the very troubled Carlos, Prince of Asturias, son of Felipe by his first wife, Maria Manuela of Portugal. (Elisabeth was wife #3 of 4 :/)
Although Carlos was mentally unstable, with increasing reports of his bizarre and cruel, verging on sadistic behavior, Carlos was always kind and gentle with his stepmother. When Felipe eventually locked his eldest son away in 1568, Elisabeth is reported to have cried for days.
Claude was her mother’s favorite daughter and Catherine occasionally visited her daughter in Lorraine. Catherine was present for the baptism of Claude’s firstborn son, Henri. She liked to be surrounded by her grandchildren by Claude. Claude also frequently visited her mother in Paris and was present for many significant royal events.
Not substantiated but while Claude was in Paris for her sister Marguerite’s wedding, she had obviously been informed about the Massacre that was planned and tried to stop Marguerite from leaving their mother’s rooms. To which Catherine told her elder daughter not to tell the younger anything and said that it would be suspicious if Marguerite did not leave and that if it were “god’s will”, she would be safe from harm.
When Claude died in childbirth at age 27, her husband although also still young vowed not to marry again, being unable to find Claude’s equal.
Well the slut stuff...a lot of that is either anti-Valois or Bourbon propaganda. She and Henri de Guise wanted to get married. Her mother and bother Charles IX beat her for what was seen as impudence on her end for trying to promise her hand, which wasn’t hers to give. A royal princess wasn’t worth wasting on an already grasping and powerful noble family when she could provide a foreign alliance. Marguerite’s happiness wasn’t considered an important factor.
After Elisabeth’s death, Catherine offered Marguerite’s hand to Felipe. Marriages were also broached with Felipe’s son, Carlos, Prince of Asturias; Sebastião, King of Portugal; and Archduke Rudolf of Austria before she was betrothed to her cousin, Henri, King of Navarre.
The tale that Marguerite’s brother Charles IX forced her head down as though she were nodding her assent (which we see in the La Reine Margot) is the fabrication of François Eudes de Mézeray (born 1610 and thus would have been 5 when Marguerite died). It was Bourbon propaganda used to justify the annulment of Marguerite and Henri’s marriage 27 years later. Notably, Marguerite does not mention this incident in her Memoirs but doesn’t shy away from discussing her brother Charles’ affairs.
After her marriage, Marguerite definitely took lovers but it is hard to tell what is fact and what is invented about her affairs. Much of her alleged notoriety came from pamphlets that sought to publicly discredit Marguerite and her family.
By the letters that Marguerite sent to her lover, Jacques de Harlay, we have a conception of what Marguerite considered to be love, a union of the minds and bodies, which brought about a fusing of souls.
This makes her distinct from her mother’s Flying Squadron, Catherine’s ladies-in-waiting who she used to seduce courtiers for her own political ends. Charlotte de Sauve, for example, who became Henri de Navarre’s mistress, reputedly did so on Catherine de Medici’s orders.
Marguerite, however, though very pragmatic considering she was also a devout Catholic, never mixed politics and love.
Marguerite went through a looot. I do think she epitomizes the saying the best revenge is living well, but she had to go through a lot to get though to the other side.
No one seems to have appreciated Marguerite’s intelligence and loyalty in her own family. In her teenage years, she was particularly close to her brother Henri. When he was obliged to leave court in 1568 to see to the royal armies, he asked his sister to look out for his interests with the king and their mother. Marguerite was happy to do so, even though doing so won her no favors with her mother or Charles. Was Henri grateful for this? No. He discovered her relationship with Henri de Guise and told on her to their mother and brother.
She assisted her younger brother, François, Duke d’Alencon and her husband, Henri, King of Navarre in their conspiracy, an attempt to link together moderate Catholics and Henri’s Huguenot subjects as an alternative monarch to the heir presumptive Henri (who favored suppressing Protestant worship) when Charles IX’s health appeared to be fading in 1573.
After the conspiracy was uncovered and the conspirators executed or arrested (depending on their rank), Marguerite wrote a letter in support of her imprisoned husband.
After Charles IX’s death, Henri and François were freed by Henri III and permitted to return to court, but Marguerite’s betrayal was neither forgotten nor forgiven by the king.
Further on, Charlotte de Sauve, who had become Henri’s mistress, encited a duel between Henri and François, both of whom were her lovers. This led to a falling out between the two and made things even harder for Marguerite.
Both her husband and brother managed to escape court. But while François refused to negotiate until his sister was set free, Henri did not even do his wife the courtesy of warning her about his departure, leaving her to be confined within the Louvre under suspicion of having helped her husband to escape.
After Marguerite’s death, Maria de’ Medici paid off her debts.
So while I agree that be a slut, do whatever you want is truly the way to live your life, I’m not sure Marguerite would have agreed to that exact wording, you know?

Hurt Comfort Exchange 2021 Creator Letter
Hi! Thank you for creating something for me! I’m excited to see what you create! :D
General info
I adore tropes, the more ridiculous the better, and really what I love about ridiculous tropes is how it gives the creator an opportunity to explore the characters and their dynamics and motivations. Fun plots are great, but the characters and what the plot reveals about them is what I really love.
I also really love AUs (especially modern/historical AUs) or crossover fusions, and love how much changes and how much doesn’t. But straight up canon stuff is really good too. Really, character focused stuff is what I love most. I do also think canon divergence AUs can be really great, so feel free to play around with canon as well.
While I’m a big fan of romantic ships, I also love relationships in general, romantic or not. Just characters being there for each other is great. I love fluff, but more serious/angsty/dramatic stuff is just as good too. :D And unless specifically stated otherwise, I have no problem with characters other than I requested in the story, but I want the requested characters to be a main focus.
In relation to hurt/comfort, one thing that I really love is desperation: desperate kisses, desperate plans, desperate goodbyes, etc.
A lot of the freeform tags that I selected, (and I selected a lot) tend towards more dramatic plots/circumstances, but feel free to go where you feel comfortable on the fluff/angst/dark/light spectrum.
My DNWs (also listed on my sign up) are:
smut
Romance is great, but nothing more than kissing/fade to black for the physical stuff.
explicit gore
violence and injury are fine, but nothing super graphic, generally I would say canon typical violence/gore or less is a good way to go
Sexual assault/rape
I really don’t want this to be the hurt that any of the characters go through
permanent character death of requested characters
angst without a happy (or at least hopeful) ending
Obviously, there’s likely to be at least some angst, seeing as it’s a hurt/comfort exchange, but I just don’t want the story to end without any sort of hope.
I hope this helps! I’m including my general prompts below, but feel free to go where the inspiration takes you. My prompts tend to be more fic focused, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want art, I’m just not as good talking about what I like there. Go with whatever style you feel fits best/you’re most comfortable with and I’ll be happy. :) Happy creating!
Request 1
Fandom: Scarlet Pimpernel - Baroness Orczy
Relationships: Marguerite Blakeney/Percy Blakeney (Hurt Percy)
Prompts:
Marguerite helping with the League somehow--whether on a regular basis, or stepping in because Percy’s hurt. (I especially love the latter)
Percy getting hurt trying to protect Marguerite and/or the League, and Marguerite comforting him/patching him up after they’re all out of danger
As you can tell by my freeform selections, I’m all about the DRAMA, but I think this is a fandom where really going hog wild with the dramatic stuff could be so great. (Percy literally kissed the ground Marguerite walked on in the book because he was pining so hard, I’m not sure anything can top that in terms of being Over The TopTM :D)
Bonus points if Percy is being his little shit self even while hurt
In a totally different direction, if we match on ‘Character who regularly takes risks gets hurt while doing something that is usually safe’ or that interests you, I think that could be a really funny direction to take the story/art, especially if Percy tries to convince Marguerite that he received his injury in a totally dashing manner, and not something really simple and dumb, and Marguerite is not buying it
Request 2
Fandom: Smallville
Relationships: Clark Kent/Lois Lane (Hurt Clark)
Prompts:
While I don’t watch the other current DC shows, I have seen the Smallville scenes in the Supergirl/Flash/Multiverse crossover episodes, so if you would like to explore Clark giving up his powers, I think that would be interesting, but I am also very happy with things either set before that, or completely ignoring that.
If not exploring Clark without powers, (whether using the above canon or going completely AU), what I love about this request is that when Clark is physically hurt it usually means something is VERY WRONG.
Lois having to comfort a hurt Clark and help him figure out what’s going on and how to fix it.
Lois protecting a hurt Clark and defending him when he can’t defend himself against a powerful enemy.
Lois and Clark on a Daily Planet assignment when something goes wrong and Clark gets hurt
Clark getting hurt protecting Lois. (Bonus points if combined with the above prompt where Lois protects him after he’s hurt)
Exploring Lois’ line “Being a hero's wife means never accepting defeat”, either in context of the gladiator episode, or in a later situation
Request 3
Fandom: Smallville
Relationships: Clark Kent/Lois Lane (Hurt Lois)
This request could be a little lighter than the one with hurt Clark, simply because Lois is much more easily hurt/sick as not a superpowered being, but I am also just as happy with the angst and the drama
Lois being protective (whether of Clark or their friends or random civilians) even after being injured
Clark feeling guilty (whether it’s at all justified or not) about Lois being hurt and Lois having to get after him a little for it/reassure him
Exploring Lois’ line “Being a hero's wife means never accepting defeat”, either in context of the gladiator episode, or in a later situation
Request 4
Fandom: Captain America (Movies)
Relationships: Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers (Hurt Steve)
Prompts:
I am totally okay with basically any form of canon/au here: modern Steggy, modern Steggy because of time travel, Endgame compliant, Skinny!Steve in any way, CA: TFA missing scene/mission, Steve is found during the 40’s/Never goes into the ice, etc. This can also be either established or pre/beginning of their relationship too.
Steve doing something really reckless to save people, and Peggy berating him a little, but also there’s comforting and tenderness there
I love mission related stories (although don’t feel you need to go too hard on the plot heavy stuff if that’s not your thing), but no power AUs are great too
Steve hurt and having to pretend he’s not while they’re undercover (either established relationship or pre-relationship pining)
I would also love Peggy doing some protecting of her own and being bad ass as well
In parallel to the scene at the end of First Avenger, Peggy having to watch/listen to Steve getting hurt, while she coordinates the mission/his rescue, and then seeing the damage in person after he’s home
Bonus points if they comfort each other
Request 5
Fandom: Knives Out
Relationships: Benoit Blanc/Marta Cabrera (Hurt Marta)
Prompts:
While I love established relationship scenarios for them (and in general), I think this could lead to some great love confessions and getting together scenarios.
This could be set in the movie ‘verse or in an AU if you feel inspired to go that direction
As far as other characters go, I love Harlan (Harlan Lives AUs are my favorite), as well as Lt. Elliott and Tropper Wagner. The Thrombeys are really fun, but I don’t want them to be the focus, especially Ransom. (I really don’t want any hint of romance between Marta and Ransom.)
Marta gets hurt on a case, and Benoit has to take care of her after, all while dealing with the emotions of seeing her get hurt (whether his feelings are known or not at that point)
Bonus points if they’re undercover as a couple on the case
Marta getting hurt protecting Benoit and/or other people
While many of the freeform tags I selected reference physical pain, emotional hurt would be great too, especially with everything Marta is dealing with post movie. (And during the movie. #ProtectMartaCabrera)
One of my favorite things about Benoit and his interactions with Marta in the movie is just how tender he is, almost from the word go. Regardless of the actual plot/scenario, I would love that tenderness to be on full display.
Request 6
Fandom: WandaVision
Relationships: Darcy Lewis & Jimmy Woo & Monica Rambeau (All Hurt)
Prompts:
I have seen through the finale, so don’t worry about needing to avoid spoilers or anything like that.
This could be set during the show, with canon AU to add in things we didn’t see, or set after the show with them teaming up again. I would also love a full on AU if that’s where you’d like to go.
Slight canon AU of the last episode where the three of them meet up again after everything and comfort each other/catch each other up/celebrate/process/etc
I’m a little bitter we don’t see them all together after everything. Yeah, Darcy’s line was funny, but I wanted more scenes with the three of them.
Most of the freeform tags I’ve selected are about physical hurt, but emotional hurt is great too, and some combination of the two among the three of them would be cool too.
I would especially love Monica’s powers being a factor in this, and all of them trying to protect each other in various ways. They’re all so competent and strong in different ways and I love seeing that come together in their teamwork.
Just them being a supportive team and relying on each other after a difficult mission/experience.
Request 7
Fandom: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Relationships: Jefferson Davis & Rio Morales & Miles Morales (Hurt Miles)
Prompts:
While I do love AUs, this request one is where I’m less interested in a complete AU. I would prefer him to still be Spider-Man, even if you change other things about the canon.
Jefferson and Rio know that Miles is Spider-Man, but they found out/figured it out and Miles didn’t tell them, so they’re letting him think they’re still in the dark, but they’re doing what they can to help and keep him safe
Jefferson and Rio don’t know that Miles is Spider-Man and how they find out is when he’s injured
Bonus points if he gets injured protecting one or both of them
Miles is starting to feel the overwhelming weight of being a teenage superhero and without telling them specifics, goes home to get comfort from his parents
This could involve both physical and emotional hurt, or just one of those
Just lots of soft, tender family comfort in and around the angst

Wednesday Roundup
The late but always reliable reviewer Rena is here today. I sat on this one for a while considering the... internet-wide discussion we all are a part of now given Marvel’s recent revelations from this particular Wednesday, and the fact that I have a Marvel comic (even if only one) on my Roundups today made me somewhat reluctant to fully get into this, but I had, personally, a good Comic Day and I would hate to waste the opportunity to share the good in comics going on right now with all of you. So we’ll see how everything stacks up, and just how I’ll be handling Roundups in the future as a result of the current... nastiness, we’ll call it.
Tumblr media
DC’s Batwoman, Image’s Descender, Marvel’s Invincible Iron Man, DC’s Super Sons, DC’s Superman, DC’s Superwoman, DC’s Trinity
DC’s Batwoman (2017- ) #2 Marguerite Bennet, James Tynion IV, Steve Epting, Jeromy Cox
Tumblr media
As worried as I was with the Batwoman: Rebirth issue -- and I think I laid out my concerns pretty fairly, I have to fully admit that my worries have been almost entirely subsided as we go forward starting with this issue.
I always have this concern when there’s a continued revisionist history of a character’s origins that we’re going to be falling into a Donna Troy affect -- where every author is more interested in retelling and retconning her history than actually allowing the character to be who she is and moving forward from there. A problem in comics that disproportionally affects female characters if you’re sharp enough to notice such things.
This issue really helped me to put down that worry mostly because while, yes, we are revisiting Kate’s past for the hundredth time in the last ten years, the story proper is actually pushing us and her forward rather readily while not shying away from the aspects of Kate that make her Kate.
Her loyalty, her issues with commitment, her homosexuality -- everything comes into play this issue and leaves us itching for more involving these Many Arms of Death plot overall. I’m very excited about this comic and am so glad that Maguerite Bennet is becoming such a good fit for it.
Image’s Descender (2015- ) #21 Jeff Lemire, Dustin Nguyen
Tumblr media
So I just recently got caught up on Descender in time to review the newest issue the week it came out, so I have to give major thanks to @feministbatman for recommending this comic to me. What can I say, you know me so very well and my love for robots and sci-fi has been incredibly rewarded for it.
This issue was another brilliant one, we had Tim-22′s reveal and takeover of the ship, but we also got to see a lot more development of Andy and Effy thanks to Bandit’s little vision quest of sorts for us.
But of course the most anticipated and worrisome part of all of this is worrying for Tim-21 who is still in Psius’ hands and at the heart of the Havester plot that keeps on thickening.
It’s hard to say much else.
I will say that while I’ll always be a fan of Nguyen’s signature style, I do find at times the choice to make this entire comic watercolor rather than more inked and refined does do some disservice to certain moments I think could benefit from having stronger color and more definition to them, but that’s a general criticism I’ll probably dive more into with the wrap up of this arc.
Marvel’s Invincible Iron Man (2016- ) #6 Brian Michael Bendis, Stefano Caselli, Marte Garcia
Tumblr media
An entirely all-female supporting cast to a female Black superheroine Ironheart with our token dude (Tony) being a computer AI. It’s the setup dreams are made of and I love how much love Riri is getting in the media and the world for her choices here.
It’s also incredibly relatable how she reacts to being in her idol’s workshop, the idea of her “using it as her base” is unfathomable and her geeky cries of “THIS IS HOLY GROUND” had me literally laughing out loud. I loved it, and I loved how much agency and voice is given to Pepper as Rescue. So often when a young new hero takes over an identity, the trailblazers before them get left out (looking at you Captain Marvel, though you did make up with it in a pretty good issue yourself).
There’s just so much to love in this comic and I’m glad that at the end of the day, even with all the Women in Science, it doesn’t diminish Riri’s single mom who works a 9-5. That relationship, you can already tell, is going to be monumental moving forward.
Great issue, great introduction to Riri. Am looking forward to seeing more of her.
DC’s Super Sons (2017- ) #3 Peter J. Tomasi, Jorge Jimenez, Alejandro Sanchez
Tumblr media
To put things simply: This book might be one of the most amazing things that DC is putting out right now and if you have absolutely any interest in it at all, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend you pick it up because this is some a-grade fun. I adore having this book to look forward to and the antagonism as it comically plays out between Damian and Jon is easily some of the best stuff I’ve read with Damian’s character since the Robin: Son of Batman comic.
Which, if you know how much I flatly adored that comic, should obviously be taken as pretty high praise.
That being said, there’s some issues. Damian’s skin tone is not being protected enough by the editors and the whitewashing, especially compared to how good DC’s Rebirth comics have been about it in other series, is very distracting and supremely disappointing.
Jon has grown on me very quickly and while I will continue to talk about my longing for Chris Kent and my apprehensions about the continued theme of biological kids erasing the bonds of adopted kids, this is a good comic overall.
DC’s Superman (2016- ) #21 Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason, Mick Gray, John Kalisz
Tumblr media
In this episode of “how is an evil cow taking down Batman” today, we get no such answers to no such questions, but we get a giant octopus monster fight with Superman, Superboy, and Robin and -- really -- isn’t that the content anyone really comes for in a Superman comic.
Once again, Jon’s heat vision is out of control and kills something, but rather than it being another moment of horror and reflection for him, as his father was trying desperately to save the creature’s life along with the citizenry of Hamilton, but the entire town seems to turn on Superman and praise Jon over him for “doing what is necessary.”
Now, this might be me reading too much into this (and read: it is) but this seems honestly like a huge commentary on the values of classic heroes like Superman being put in stark contrast to the blood thirsty and fear mongering of the public today. Too often we praise the most immediate and final of reactions rather than the harder and grayer solutions which Superman is supposed to be able to give us.
And considering how awkward the praise heaped on Jon feels in this issue, and the surprise revelation at the end, I’m pretty sure we’re not supposed to like that a life lost unnecessarily is being celebrated by everyone around.
Damian and Jon are still a ruckus and everything is still very intriguing. This is definitely my favorite Superman run in a long time.
DC’s Superwoman (2016- ) #9 K. Perkins, Stephen Segovia, Art Thibert, HI-FI
Tumblr media
So here we are starting off with a new creative team and resetting my Rule of Three, which for anyone new means that I give new runs and new comics 3 issues to hook me before deciding how to handle the series moving forward. And considering that I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the last two or so issues of Jimenez’s run, I’m not completely objecting to a bit of a change up in the creative team.
This issue is dealing with the fallout of the Superman Reborn storyline and mostly about Lana dealing with once more being powerless, and how that makes her feel conflicted. I felt like this dealt with Lana’s emotions in a much more respectful and loving way that the last issue did, definitely, but mostly the issue read as filler before we get into the next arc which’ll be starting with #10.
So here we go into curiosity. I’m very interested in where this new team is deciding to take us.
DC’s Trinity (2016- ) #8 Cullen Bunn, Emanuela Lupacchino, Ray McCarthy, HI-FI
Tumblr media
Another issue, another tie-in, another creative team change. Now, I’m going to be flat honest with you: I have absolutely no explanation for what happened in this issue. And I’m not doing that for comedic effect, it’s just honest.
This definitely felt like more filler before we get to somewhere beyond all the crossover events and can instead return to Trinity’s desperate attempt to find its own status quo. Something that positively worries me because its predecessors in spirit, Superman/Batman and Batman/Superman, never really cohesively found that groove for themselves.
For the time being this feels like after the first arc, this series has become something of a place for reactionary storytelling -- basically paid advertisements for bigger events going on in the rest of the DCU.
I desperately hope I’m wrong, I really liked the first arc and would like to see more friendship-centered adventures between DC’s Big Three, but I’m going to officially move this series to trade-wait if things don’t change by the next issue. We’ll see.
So this has been a rough week for comic fans, there’s no getting beyond that, and this Roundup was at least in part held back due to my own concerns about just how much the fallout of some truly bad decisions over at Marvel was going to play into my own feelings toward comics this week.
I feel, overall though, I had a good pull this week, and while some were a little lackluster and have gained my reservations, I overall really loved my Super Week. And of my Super Week I definitely have to give my favorite issue to Super Sons, which has just turned out to be a spectacular gem to follow and I’m very glad for it existing.
But how do you all feel about this week? Any comics I missed you think I should try out? Any disagreements with me on this week’s picks? I’d love to hear from you!

Hurt Comfort Exchange 2021 Creator Letter
(Sorry for the delay, this is now complete!)

Prompts:
If not doing an AU where Clark is without powers, what I love about this request is that when Clark is physically hurt it usually means something is VERY WRONG.
Lois having to comfort a hurt Clark and help him figure out what’s going on and how to fix it.
Lois protecting a hurt Clark and defending him when he can’t defend himself against a powerful enemy.

Fandom: Knives Out
Relationships: Benoit Blanc/Marta Cabrera (Hurt Marta), Benoit Blanc/Marta Cabrera (Hurt Benoit)
One of them gets hurt on a case and the other has to take care of them after, all while dealing with the emotions of seeing them get hurt (whether their feelings are known or not at that point)
Bonus points if they’re undercover as a couple on the case
One of them getting hurt protecting the other (and/or others)
While many of the freeform tags I selected reference physical pain, emotional hurt would be great too, especially with everything Marta is dealing with post movie. (And during the movie. #ProtectMartaCabrera)
One of my favorite things about Benoit and his interactions with Marta in the movie is just how tender he is, almost from the word go. Regardless of the actual plot/scenario, I would love that tenderness to be on full display.

I’ve seen the show and know the book's broad strokes, but for the most part prefer the show characterizations.
I am 5000% here for big damn rescues, and really of anyone in a ship, but here, I particularly love it when Aleksander is the one being rescued (and then cuddled and given all the love!)
In most of the throuples I ship with Aleksander and Alina in them, one thing I love is that typically, Aleksander and Alina are not the ones with the brain cell. I also love when their third balances them out and helps bridge a lot of the intense emotions they both feel
I read Aleksander (and to a certain extent, Alina) as super touch starved, so I would love if that played a part in anything if it fits! Just let the man cuddle!
Alexei isn’t a grisha (Or is he? I’d be down if you went that route) and so he won’t live anywhere near as long as Aleksander and Alina. Are they more protective of him because of this? How does he respond to their (over)protectiveness?
I love overt affection as comfort and think it would work really well for this ship!
I love the idea of Alexei and Alina knowing that Aleksander will push himself to work too hard, and so convincing/strong arming him into taking breaks. Especially if they can tell when he’s reaching his breaking point
Aleksander and Alina think that Alexei has been murdered and go absolutely feral with revenge to find out he’s actually alive.

If you’re doing established Darklina, I would like the Darkling to have a redemption arc. This can be handwaved in the past, where you skip to the cute established relationship stuff, but I’d rather have him redeem himself than just handwaving what he’s done
The exception to this is Dark (or at least morally gray) Darklina Power Couple. I love fluff and happiness, but also this would be really fun
I put a lot of freeforms for this ship that imply that Aleksander and Alina are still at odds and I think there’s some really interesting stuff to explore there, but I also love them being in love and equals so whatever route you want to take it!

With this ship, I’m good with really any canon/AU setting, but I do really love when Alina (whether through time travel, being born earlier, merzost, etc) ends up with Aleksander and Luda before the creation of the Fold. How does that change things?
Alternatively, I also love where Luda lives and is somehow immortal (I’m fine with handwaving for these kinds of things if needed) and they’re together when Alina is discovered as the sun summoner.
If you don’t make Luda immortal, she won’t live anywhere near as long as Aleksander and Alina. Are they more protective of her because of this? How does she respond to their (over)protectiveness?
