it has been something like. eight or so hours. and i am still trying to figure out how the fuck my eye doctor lost my glasses frames???

like. ive been going to the same eye doctor every year for the last like, six years or something like that. they have never once fucked up this badly.

timeline of events, from my pov under the cut because it got way longer than i thought it would when i first started this.

i go to the eye doctor, having set up an appointment like normal (late because its been a weird summer)

everything goes well until the very end, at which point the computer crashes and loses the data.

annoying, but its fine, i just have to go back in the next day and do it all over again on a saturday while they're busy.

go in again the next day. they're busy as hell, so i am there significantly longer than planned, because i'd set up for a late timeslot on friday for a reason (nobody wants to go to the eye doctor at 6:15 on a friday. trust me. it's great its so dead then.)

go through everything over again, i get a huge discount because i had to go through the inconvenience of coming back to the eye doctor. this is the best news, actually, because i hadn't totally been sold on getting new glasses, but i needed them because my old pair literally make my migraines worse.

the first indication that something was wrong was the fact that they didn't have any trial pairs of the contacts i wear.

This would not cross my mind until i picked up the new contacts a week later when they came in.

I try the contacts. Nothing is properly in focus, and i just think to myself, "oh its just cause i have a new scrip, it's fine, I'll get used to them."

i did not, in fact, get used to them.

About a week later, when my glasses come in, i make a mention to the guy fitting them that the contacts don't seem to be right. he tells me i've got plenty of time to bring them back in, they've got policies for stuff like "wrong prescription"

y'all i went to a friend's house on the other side of town two days later and came home via the bypass in the dark and i couldn't read the highway signs.

that's how badly they fucked this up.

i give it to the end of the week to be sure. End of the first pair of contacts, since i wear biweekly ones.

i go in on friday like "hey. this does not work, when can you get me in?"

and the lady at the front desk was like "well we've got a slot open right now if you've got time"

"nope, i only have until the end of the hour because I'm on lunch from work and i don't have either the contacts or the glasses with me right now. got anything for after (time i got off work that day)?"

"the doctor leaves at (time i got off work), will one of these slots tomorrow work?"

set up the appointment for the next day; i've got my glasses and my contacts and the eye doctor put me through a series of eye tests i'd never actually done before, which was kind of cool.

he was like "if you could shift your bangs back that'd be great, actually, i can't tell if you're squinting or not."

and i was like "well i'm doing my best not to but no problem."

appointment went fantastic, he even had trial contacts for me to put in. i almost cried the difference was so stark between the old scrip and the new one. (turns out the old scrip was just off enough it was giving me low-level headaches constantly. fun! not.)

so i leave the old contacts and the glasses with them to get the lenses replaced and for my new contacts to be ordered. (i looked at the eye chart they sent home with me cause i wanted to see the difference in the prescriptions. there should not be a discrepancy of over a whole number between the two. per eye.)

i picked up the contacts last week.

and now.

today.

this morning, i get two (2) texts saying my orders are in and ready to be picked up. sweet, i think to myself. i'll go pick them up later, get myself a treat while i'm out. grab something for dinner, etc.

i get there and its dead because its been raining all day. fantastic! it shouldn't take long.

i go in.

they're dead.

i let them know i'm here to pick up my order.

here comes today's first confusion: the guy at the desk is having trouble finding my order. which. okay. not a problem (yet).

so i sit and wait and fiddle around on my phone for several minutes while the guy hunts for my glasses.

I am slowly growing more and more confused.

another guy starts helping him out.

the first guy finds a couple of doctor-style ziplock bags and asks me if i have my frames with me.

"Nnnnno. I left them with you guys two weeks ago. I was assuming when I came in, my frames would have new lenses."

I am very confused now.

the gentlemen go on the hunt for my frames.

several more minutes go by, and i am increasingly incredulous and more confused.

i think to myself "did they lose my fucking frames????"

the first guy is sent to the racks of frames to grab a pair of frames that look almost, but not quite, like one of the frames i left with them. blue instead of brown.

the guy goes back in with the frames and i am fully invested.

because.

it sure as hell looks like they lost my fucking frames.

y'all.

they got ahold of the lady who's been so helpful basically every time i've seen her and they let me know the situation.

tomorrow, she's going to look into the situation for me. see if she can't find my frames, and if she can't, replace them. gonna call and let me know tomorrow what the deal is.

they offered to give me the blue frames until they could find the frames i'd gotten originally - from THERE, mind you - and i was like

"i don't need the glasses to see. i wear contacts most of the time. my glasses are backups."

so i wasted a solid 45 minutes at the eye doctor today and i'm sure i'll still have to go in tomorrow to talk to someone because they mentioned potentially having to re-order the glasses frames from another store if they couldn't find my glasses.

this was at like. 2:45 this afternoon.

i'm still just like how in the hell did you lose them????

spoke to my roommates earlier about it and they were BOTH like "you are having a shit time with your eyes this year huh?"

and its just like

If anyone lives in the middle of the fucking Atlantic Ocean and wants a porche and a VW, great news! There's apparently a cargo ship called Felicity Ace that is ON FIRE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WET ASS LIQUID OCEAN. The crew safely abandoned it, and under Maritime law, the ship is now Finders Keepers TM. I'm sure that whatever life forms arise from this latest environmental disaster will appreciate being able to drive in style

Nintendo has announced they are shutting down the 3DS and Wii U e stores in March 2023, and some people say they've already hit the Wii U store. Because nothing stops piracy like making games even harder to come by, obviously. Titles such as Xenoblade Chronicles X, Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD, the entire catalog of the 3ds Pokémon games, and more are gonna be harder to find soon, much like my will to live

Chip n Dale has a new live action movie in the works based on the amazing Rescue Rangers cartoon show. Of course, what Disney crypt raid or franchise revisit would be complete without making fun of very iconic and beloved voices they themselves made, and what live action adaptation would be complete without replacing those iconic voices with some generic guy's boring ass voice?

There are truckers in Ottowa being annoying and protesting over vaccine mandates, because they can't just be annoying everywhere else. It's okay to be afraid of needles, guys, I swear it doesn't hurt! I've been jabbed 3 times and the 5g microchips doesn't interfere much with the government tracking devices in literally everything else.

Futurama is in talks about getting another season on Hulu, once again proving Matt Groening is some sort of necromancer but for cartoons. Of course the biggest news from this is that the voice of Bender- aka arguably the most popular character from the show- John DiMaggio, does not want to come back unless they can negotiate his contract better and open the floor to give him and his fellow voice actors a raise. This very reasonable act of ensuring everyone is paid fairly is apparently one of the evilest things you can do to the fans, according to like, 5 guys on Twitter. But sure, I'm so certain replacing the show's most iconic character's very iconic voice will go over very well with everyone, like replacing Mario's Charles Martinet with Chris Pratt.

Norway got 15 gold medals in the Olympics! Holy shit! They beat their own record from 2010 where they earned 14, shared with Canada. There's nothing to make fun of here, that's just cool

Apparently a lot of Catholic baptisms are suddenly being invalidated due to the usage of "we" instead of "I," which has thrown many of the religion into a frenzy due to having similarly worded Baptisms. Speaking of, apparently the horse's ass is keeping very important TOP SECRET docs at Mar-A-Lago, including love letters (as he called them) to Kim Jong-un and President Obama's presidential letter to him. Hey, at least he didn't violate the Presidential Records Act- oh wait, HE DID, and much like last time, he probably won't get punished for it.

Rudy Giuliani, aka Mr "LETS HAVE TRIAL BY COMBAT," was also subpoenaed. He claims its illegal. I wonder how legal inciting violence and an attempted coup is?

Just a personal opinion, I'm very tired of hearing anything about the Trumps or any of their cronies. Follow the example of the Dodo bird: Look stupid, go away, and never be heard from again. Please.

And in a very serious turn of events, Russia is trying to invade Ukraine. I don't want to frighten anyone, so you can Google if you need more info, but things are looking pretty grim. But if you have anxiety or depression, try not to doom scroll, okay?

What would have made you like it?

if matteo didn't act like That and he genuinely became friends with luna because she seemed like a nice person and he felt they could have been friends, AND if he didn't flirt with her while dating ambar, then yeah maybe i could have been ok with them

also i really believe they shouldn't have casted ruggero as matteo, simon's actor already looks quite older than karol but clearly not as much as ruggero so it's not as disturbing, and i haven't watched s2 but in s1 lutteo scenes are annoying because of the characters and also because seeing a very obviously grown man play a 15/16yo's love interest is. uncomfortable to say the least, especially because karol looks so young (and she WAS young)

leon coming in s1 with his princely manners, his bitchy attitude, and his arrogance and fucking over literally every other man in this show by respecting vilu changed me as a person. i fell in love with them so fast, and for so many reasons. for how open they were to each other, for how honest they've always been, for how they NEVER had any problem clearly talking about tomas, for how much leon respected her, her opinions and her choices, and how you can see them falling more and more in love every episode, for how he was willing to let her go if it meant letting her be happy with someone else, but how vilu kept choosing him over and over again, no matter how conflicted she was, because she saw this man and went "he is my happy ending" and she was RIGHT. they're everything to me

What are your favorite things about the ship?

honestly i'm not even sure i could choose what i love the most about them, but the way they look at each other is very special to me, vilu's eyes shine so bright whenever she looks at him and she looks SO HAPPY, her eyes are always beautiful but the way she immediately lights up when leon is in the room.........it's everything to me. and every single time vilu is singing on stage and leon is watching her from the backstage, utterly in love with her is like, so fucking good. so yeah, maybe i'd say that even tho i love everything about them

the way diego would have been ok with hurting everyone around him, including his oldest friend, but drew the line at involving marco in his mess, and the way marco stood next to him through everything, even though sometimes he shouldn't have done it. the way marco saw him for who he was (awfully fucked up little man) but still believed he could become better (not so fucked up anymore), also the entirety of s3. they were so fucking gay. good for me

also the idea of mr international fuckboy (got to be one in spain and in argentina!) who's always so painfully clear about what and who he wants, who's so fucking flirty he makes you cringe every time he opens his mouth, being actually scared of his feelings? keeping them to himself? diego being into someone and not hitting on them because for once he's scared of the consequences of his actions? it's so good. like it's SO good it makes me go insane, like the flavor of diego not flirting because he's in love with his best friend and doesn't want to scare him off is so. it's so good. also marco is super chill and always acts like nothing affects him but the dude is SMOOTH, and like? for once diego is the one being flirted with and he has a hard time keeping up because he's been so scared of wishing for more than what they already had that his brain has to catch up with his heart to get what's happening when marco hits on him? it's so GOOD ugh

A ship I have with said character: Roy Harper/Jason Todd. once again I'm such a fucking sucker for the Big/Small ship. they're both pissed off and in love

A BROTP I have with said character: Jason and Dick. I know they've had their differences but I really like the soft moments they've had Jason needs those even if he thinks he doesn't.

A NOTP I have with said character: that's a tough one. Jason has been immensely personal to me for years so the ships I dislike are mainly canon ones. They aren't necessarily wrong or bad they're just...not aligned with my version of him I guess. I don't think I have a NOTP mainly because I know how specific my version of him is so I'm gonna pass

A random headcanon: as usual please have many babydoll

-Jason's eyes turned vividly green whenever he's experiencing intense emotion. If he's excited or happy, them seem to spark. if he's angry however they burn

-Jason is the largest of the robins but also the stealthiest. He can sneak up on anyone and they won't hear him coming until he's right behind them

-Jason has memory issues due to, y'know- literally dying. He's come up with a series of patterns and tricks to help him remember things. Because of this, his home is pretty weird. Things seem messy and out of place but everything is arranged in a way that Jason can remember.

-Jason is intensely protective of those he loves, almost to a fault. He's almost as invasive as Bruce when it comes to knowing where everyone is, what they're doing, and who they're with. He doesn't always accept boundaries when they're laid out. He often decides he knows better and people will thank him for this if they're ever in a situation where they need him

-Roy is one of the only people capable of telling Jason off without immediately getting punched. it's the equivalent of watching an angry cat swat at an annoyed dog though

-Jason is claustrophobic.

-Jason's entire pallet changed after his resurrection. It annoys him because he can't stand some foods he knew he used to like.

-Jason is latino.

-Jason sometimes has roy lie on his back if he's doing pushups. he says he needs the extra weight to up his workout, but really he just likes being close to roy. he also gets bored easily and needs the entertainment.

General Opinion over said character: He's very important to me as a character. I first learned about him back when I was like 15 when watching Under the Red Hood. His story was equal parts fascinating and heartbreaking. The more I read about him the more I loved him. I've always loved angry characters who toe the line of morality and with Jason, it's always so good.

Deep down I think Jason has always been trying to erase himself, rebuild himself into someone who can't be hurt ever again. He does this by violently destroying anything that was a part of who he was before he died. He doesn't care about who he hurts or how his actions affect his family or his friends, because for him it was always about never allowing the notion of vulnerability come close to him ever again.

I think the only thing I dislike is when he's characterized as a soft sad boy who just wants to be loved and guards himself out of low fear of rejection an not being worthy of normal relationships. (I've seen canon and fanon like this and I kind of hate it) Jason isn't always a good person, in fact a large majority of his development is based on him not being a good person at all. Prior to his death there were even several moments where it's heavily implied he's killed before and has no problem with it. I think over the years writers and fans take the concept of anger and turn it into a very sad thing, a lonely thing; instead of what Jason's anger was: a direct result of the failures of Bruce, Gotham, and the violence of the world he once thought was worth protecting. Jason's anger may not be palatable to some but it's an important part of his character, and a major motivator to protect his family and his loved ones. Softening that takes away from his growth.

In general, as character he's very solid, but I also think what his arc did to comic books was deeply fascinating. His death gave fans more control of story lines in my opinion. For better or worse I don't really know but it's interesting to think about. I also think he was integral to the process of learning how to replace popular sidekicks at the time. His story started out as an almost exact replica of Dick's and underwent a lot of changed to separate him from the first Robin. A lot of who Jason is was decided out of concern that this new sidekick was just a copy of his successor and I find the process of his creation and established role very cool

Ttc update 24/2/19

So af was due 3 days ago, I'm on cd29 now. I took a pt this morning just to check but got a negative which is what I knew but I cannot understand why af is so late! All my signs are there, fucking sore boobs, bloated af, tummy twinges, heating up like F even when everyone else says it's freezing. I've never wanted my period so badly before, every other month I pray to not get it. Once af comes I can start tracking, cycle 9. So bloody long.

So our plan of action is that this cycle (when it starts) is we'll get 2/3 donations from our donor at home this cycle, then have our wait and hope and pray. But after that no more at home inseminations, which kills me to say.

But I got a letter in the post this morning (which is the positive part of this post). It was from the ACU which is the assisted conception unit at our hospital. Now I never consulted my doctor as the rules here are 1 year of trying then you can go and see the fertility specialists. But my doctor (who I've had for over 15 years) must of seen my records and got in touch with the unit. Which is amazing because they've looked and sent us an appointment!

So it would be the first appointment to speak about plans and what we would like, to see if we meet certain criteria, if there will be charges or if we'll be funded. If we'll be funded then I can only assume the 2nd appointment will be to do tests to check my ovaries, then to sit and discuss characteristics we'd like our child to have and then I can only assume after that it's just waiting for a positive opk then up to the hospital for the insemination!

If we get funded we receive 3 cycles non medicated and then 3 medicated. I think I'm terrified for if we do have go go beyond the first 3 cycles since the drugs are injections that I'll have to do at home for 7 days prior to ovulation.

I never thought that getting pregnant would be so hard. In school we always get told how to NOT get pregnant but they don't teach us how hard it can be if you have infertility issues or if your in a lesbian/gay relationship and have no option but donating/surrogacy. And I never thought I could be more annoyed at my body then what I felt when I was younger. But why have I been put on this planet, for the sole purpose of procreating, to be able to make a new life but my body just dosent want to do that one thing I'm literally born to do. I've literally never wanted anything more in my life than to be a mum, ever since I could push a plastic pram around and carry my baby toy around town.

But I can't keep thinking negative, I have to be positive because it will happen when it happens when it's meant to happen. It may be a very long wait or it may be this coming cycle but me and Atlanta just have to stay strong and hold each other throughout this.

We were in town the other day and managed to find these beautiful nut brown hare items. I started crying in the shop when I seen them because it just reminded me of my childhood. And I finally brought my baby blanket over from my mums and got it washed. It dosent go with the pram at all and is 100% 90's baby vibes but it's something that I want to be passed down our family for all our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren ect to enjoy and love.

Anyway this has been a humongous post so apologies for anyone who's read this is I repeated myself. Please wish us all the baby dust that maybe our time is sooner than we know, we love you little one and we cannot wait to know that your here and safe❤️

OK so I was getting some drinks because it's Hot and saw Holby stuff in the tv mags. Took a look through them all. No pics bc I didn't want to look dodgy. Can't remember a lot because I was seeing read (Yes it's THAT bad I think). Do remember one had interviews with Jaye (Donna), Bob (Sacha) and Guy (your Henrik), will try to find which one. Other one was Rosie (Jac) and Alex (Fletch), that one made me see red. third I think was just vague spoilers? p1

The only unaimbiguously 'awww yay' thing I remember is Bob saying he was speaking to Rosie the other day and recounting how they both said that when they became best friends on the show as Sacha and Jac they became best friends in real life so he's thankful to the show for that. p2

Cannot stress enough how bad it all sounds. It's confirmed the finale is about Jac, although everyone gets their loose ends tied. So basically all the returns are connected to her (but we already knew that). It's really not clear if she lives or dies still but fucking Yikes at everything anyway because the interview with Alex focused entirely too uncomfortably on them both playing a couple in The Bill and really made me think they're going to go that way out of sheer laziness. p3

Hilariously Hugh has not yet been interviewed, I'm guessing the BBC are desperately trying to gag him until after next Tuesday lol. But I'm leaning to the either Jac dies, or Jac lives with issues and chooses Fletch. And I'm not even someone who ships her with anyone at all, I'm team #JacDoesn'tNeedNoOne, but even I feel like. wow. if they do that, why would you go out of your way to shit over such a longterm narrative and part of Jac's story by having her reject Joseph at the last chance????

p4 this is the issue I had with them reviving Flac at the last minute too, because it was ALWAYS going to lead to this -- why force a situation where you give last minute hope to BOTH ships, which means that either Flac is gonna be randoly revived only to be dashed again and shit on those shippers for no reason, or they're going to bring Joseph back to completely contradict Jac's entire romantic storyline on the show for the literal finale which is a disgusting way to treat those shippers too.

Yeah, I've seen all the TV mag articles. People on Twitter and the DS forums have been sharing them.

That bit from Bob about him and Rosie becoming best friends as Sacha and Jac did is really sweet. I also loved the bit from Jaye where she was saying the thing she'd enjoyed the most about playing Donna was the romances, and then she was like "I was going to say the men, but there have been women too!". Glad she remembers Donna's bi even if the show ignored it lmao. And Guy approving of Henruss, although we'd already seen that in the online interviews.

But yes, the finale sounds SO bad. I mean, we always knew it was going to be a letdown lmao, what isn't a letdown on modern Holby, they've managed to turn Henrik coming out into a letdown for goodness' sake. But it's still annoying to get the details and hear it sounds just as bad as we expected...

And the Rosie and Alex interview was definitely WAY too much about them playing a couple in The Bill. Ugh. I really do think we're headed for Flac now.
