It’s going to be so hard. so hard to create anything like mpw. there has truly been no show like it. nothing at all. like from episode one, it is pretty much entirely set in the comfort of their home. warm tones, dark lighting, dim and yellow like the ones you keep on at night when you don’t want it to be too bright. and there’s barely any other character except them. of course there’s man-san and mr. man-san but they’re in no way almost involved with their relationship. yoh and segasaki essentially have an established relationship. they’re already living together. have clear layout on who does the chores etc. the story is pretty much all inside their house. no one else is involved. cause yk segasaki comes home after work and there’s yoh. and they say ‘i’m home’, ‘you’re back’.

#op hope its ok i added faiza’s tags as well #but truly this show is SO singular its UNREAL and its been such a genuine PRIVILEGE to watch it #its amazing watching smth so refreshing that reminds u what incredible things can be accomplished in this artistic medium when its used to #its full capacity #literally from the editing and directing to the IMMEASURABLE talent in acting on display here #such an absolute joy to watch and share in this moment w the creators and the fans #so much love and care was put into every aspect of this show and its so tangible #its a gift its a gem and i rly hope we do keep getting more of it even past the finale #bc i dont wna let go 😭#my personal weatherman #to op’s point abt it taking place mostly in their home—its almost a chamber piece in that way #which is my FAVORITE genre/style of film/play #chamber pieces take place in one setting and so it forces the bulk of the story to be carried by the characters #their narration and development are the SOLE focus of the audience and if the characters fall flat the whole thing is fucked #but mpw executed it BEAUTIFULLY #its so intimate and like faiza said we’re rly just shadows being allowed to peek in on their daily life #us being there is inconsequential.. this is between Them #like i said in my one post their whole thing is abt finding THEIR mutual language and way to communicate #they dont need to be understood by anyone else not even the audience theyre not translating themselves for us #theyre just trying to talk to EACH OTHER #we’re being allowed in for a brief moment #but this is about them and their life together #and that will continue on after us the audience have stopped being able to see #ouughhhh ITS JUST SO GOOD AND REAL AND ALIVE!
