THE LITANY OF SAINT JOSEPH - FEAST DAY - March 19th
V. Lord, have mercy.
R. Lord, have mercy.
V. Christ, have mercy.
R. Christ, have mercy.
V. Lord, have mercy.
R. Lord, have mercy.
V. Christ, hear us.
R. Christ, graciously hear us.
V. God, the Father of Heaven, R. have mercy on us.
V. God the Son, Redeemer of the world, R. have mercy on us.
V. God the Holy Spirit, R. have mercy on us.
V. Holy Trinity, One God, R. have mercy on us.
V. Holy Mary, R. pray for us (after each line)
Saint Joseph,
Renowned offspring of David,
Light of Patriarchs,
Spouse of the Mother of God,
Chaste guardian of the Virgin,
Foster-father of the Son of God,
Diligent protector of Christ,
Head of the Holy Family,
Joseph most just,
Joseph most chaste,
Joseph most prudent,
Joseph most strong,
Joseph most obedient,
Joseph most faithful,
Mirror of patience,
Lover of poverty,
Model of artisans,
Glory of home life,
Guardian of virgins,
Pillar of families,
Solace of the wretched,
Hope of the sick,
Patron of the dying,
Terror of demons,
Protector of Holy Church,
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Have mercy on us.
V. He made him the lord of His house:
R. And ruler of all His substance.
Let us pray.
O God, who in Thine unspeakable providence didst vouchsafe to choose blessed Joseph to be the spouse of Thine own most holy Mother: grant, we beseech Thee, that we may deserve to have him for our intercessor in heaven, whom we reverence as our defender on earth: who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.
Saint Joseph, pray for us.
The litany of St. Joseph, one of only six approved by the Church for public as well as private use, sums up qualities that made him such an important part of the Holy Family.
Although he does not appear much in scripture, this “just man” (as he is called in Matthew 1:19), a humble carpenter, served our Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary faithfully as His “foster father” and her “chaste guardian,” as he is called below.
In referring to St. Joseph as a “diligent protector” of Christ, this litany brings to mind his important role in taking Mary and the infant child Jesus to Egypt to protect our Lord from being killed by King Herod (Matt 3:13-16).
The Litany of St. Joseph, in referring to him as a “patron of the dying” gives one of many examples of his patronage. The faithful ask for his assistance for workers, home buyers (and sellers) and, of course, carpenters, among many others!

“My spiritual fatherhood extends to all God’s children, and together with my Virgin Spouse I watch over them with great love and solicitude.” [Notice how these defining words from St. Joseph came just as the western world was on the brink of demeaning fathers and belittling fatherhood.] St. Joseph continued: “Fathers must come to me, small one, to learn obedience to authority: to the Church always, as the mouthpiece of God, to the laws of the country in which they live, insofar as these do not go against God and their neighbor. “Mine was perfect obedience to the Divine Will, as it was shown and made known to me by the Jewish law and religion. To be careless in this is most displeasing to God and will be severely punished in the next world. “Let fathers also imitate my great purity of life and the deep respect I held for my Immaculate Spouse. Let them be an example to their children and fellowmen, never willfully doing anything that would cause scandal among God’s people. “Fatherhood is from God, and it must take once again its rightful place among men.” - These are the words of St. Joseph to Sr. Mary Ephrem, from Ohio, USA during the Apparitions of Our Lady of America 1958 approved by imprimatur and the local bishops. You can read more about her visions here -> https://m.ncregister.com/blog/joseph-pronechen/st.-joseph-appeared-in-the-united-states 🙏🏼 Fathers truly are the pillar of the Family! The apparitions to Sr. Mary also teach us that St. Joseph has an essential role in bringing peace to the world. He is evidently an integral part of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart. Our Lady’s Heart Will Triumph when the restoration of the family, and God’s rightful place in it, takes place. None of this can happen until the St. Joseph’s fatherhood is fully recognized by the Church. Now is th time of St. Joseph! Pray for us, Pillar of Families, that we might build stronger families united in heart to the Divine Will of God. #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #stjohnvianney #stjohnpaulii #consecrationtostjoseph #stjosephmovement #litanyofstjoseph https://www.instagram.com/p/COJzESeA9m6/?igshid=28233e341tsn

Pope Leo XIII’s Prayer to Saint Joseph
To you, O Blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also.
Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by His Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.
O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving Father, ward off from us
every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness.
As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God’s Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in Heaven.
Amen.
(Composed by Pope Leo XIII in his 1889 encyclical, Quamquam pluries.)

Did you ever stop to consider that if it weren’t for Mary telling the stories of her husband, St. Matthew and St. Mark never would’ve been able to write about him in their gospel. They never met him. THINK ABOUT IT: Centuries ago, Mary was the first person to “unveil” the graces and greatness of St. Joseph’s life to the writers of the Scriptures. Mary wanted her husband to be included in the New Testament. By sharing her story, she was speaking for her husband and including him in the role of Christ’s birth and upbringing. How often would wives today be so eager to include the role of their husbands in the upbringing of their children? How many more would like to omit it entirely? Such inclusion gives us great insight into the virtuous nature of Mary as a devoted wife and also into the graces St. Joseph brought to the Holy Family. How we choose to preserve the memory of our loved ones for the posterity of future generations says a great deal about how much that person influenced our lives and the Legacy they left behind. St. Joseph’s silence has far more to do with his Legacy of holiness and Fatherhood than it does any sins of omissions. Indeed, the tradition of the Jewish Scribes is that what is not explicitly stated in the Torah can have even more impact than what is included. Some things were just so commonly known, understood, and accepted that it was considered redundant to waste ink and paper to include them. Fatherhood can be just that also. Through the Scriptures, the writing of the saints and the various apparitions of St. Joseph, “Our Lady has helped us comprehend and love her dear chaste husband, St. Joseph. She has told us of the mystery surrounding him and of his greatness. She has let us know something of her love for her Virginal Spouse, that most lovable saint who for years held the Word made flesh in his arms.” - Blessed Gabrielle Allegra #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #stjohnvianney #stjohnpaulii #consecrationtostjoseph #stjosephmovement #litanyofstjoseph https://www.instagram.com/p/CODjsQGAfXl/?igshid=1s72fxk4qnfsv

Joseph exhibited heroic patience in Egypt. Taking his wife and newborn child to a country with a different language, culture, religion, and currency filled his heart with anxiety. Finding work in Egypt and providing food and shelter for his family could not have been easy. What husband and father would not be in a constant state of anxiety in such a situation? He had no idea how long he’d have to stay in Egypt. Yet, in every situation, St. Joseph was always peaceful, kind, calm, and abandoned to Divine Providence. 💥 I think now of how again this timing for Consecration to St. Joseph is right on point with world events. How many of us even now are wondering how long this “New Normal” will last? Just imagine the plight of the refugee in these times. HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF JESUS AS A REFUGEE? St. Joseph becomes our model of patience for the times we are put to flight into foreign territories. Exercising patience does not mean we will be free of anxieties of life. But it means we can have peace while we endure them. When we are asked to leave the comforts of home or of an old way of life and to endure a new way of living, we can rest assured God’s peace and provision will go with us. 🙏🏼 St. Joseph pray for us that we might mirror the same Patience you mirrored by trusting in the Will of Our Father to lead us in and out of our own Egypt. #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #stjohnvianney #stjohnpaulii #consecrationtostjoseph #stjosephmovement #litanyofstjoseph https://www.instagram.com/p/CN723IigB9R/?igshid=18qjeyzh6lfpf

With all the stirring that’s happened this last year, our hearts and souls can be tempted to go places they just don’t need to. St. Joseph is a reminder that OBEDIENCE IS not a punishment but A BALM. Developing a lifestyle of discipline to the Ways of the Lord will actually SAVE YOUR LIFE not cause you to waste it away. I’ve never seen more clearly than after today’s reading the importance of the Church recognizing the hidden treasures of St. Joseph. He is the Saint for Our Times! If you let his example be a model for your life, you will see that you will not only survive these times of UNREST but you will SLEEP THROUGH THEM with such peace that you will actually learn to REST IN PEACE, a glimpse of that eternal rest NOW. You may even begin to dream dreams that will tell you WHAT’S TO COME and how best to PREPARE FOR IT NOW. Blessed St. Joseph, Most Obedient, 🙏🏼 Pray for us to have the courage and will of heart to be obedient to the Ways of God. Especially, when his instructions come in ways I’m not used to. Help me dream with Him. #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #stjohnvianney #stjohnpaulii #consecrationtostjoseph #stjosephmovement #litanyofstjoseph https://www.instagram.com/p/CN2lVLug-wf/?igshid=11g4p09er37rl

To be a saint, you don’t have to be fearless but you do have to be courageous. If you imitate St. Joseph, you will not hesitate to enter enemy territory or undergo spiritual combat. Egypt was a land notorious for thieves, pagan rituals, idols, and sorcerers. Saint Joseph fears no man because God is with him. 🙏🏼 St. Joseph pray for us that we might overcome our fear of men and courageously follow after God, especially in these times of unrest and confusion. You set your face like flint toward Egypt and your son Jesus followed your example of valor and strength when he set his toward Jerusalem. Teach us how to be Courageous. Help us set our faces toward the Kingdom of God. Lust is the predominant vice at work in the hearts of men (and women) today. The world is filled with immoral and lust-filled actions. These actions greatly offend God, ruin families, and cry out to heaven for justice. Did not Our Lady warn St. Jacinta of Fatima that many souls go to hell because of sins of the flesh? In the battle for purity, everyone needs to go to St. Joseph. If a man- or a woman - struggles with lust, they must go to St. Joseph. Run to your Spiritual Father. Cling to Joseph! He is capable of increasing the virtue of chastity in your heart and leading you to true, virtuous love of God and neighbor just as he did for Jesus, who was afflicted with EVERY temptation of the flesh. [💥PONDER THAT for a minute. How many sons might rise above the temptation to look at pornography or objectify women if they saw their father exampling a better way? How many daughters would choose for herself a man of honor to date and to marry if she only saw her father example such a man to marry? We are told most people marry their mom or dad, why? Because most people grow up with the belief that what they see is how it is. Mary and Joseph help us change that paradigm. Men can be virtuous. Women can be holy. Sons and daughters can be chaste. Marriage can be beautiful.] You will be victorious over sin if you develop the discipline of taking refuge under the fatherly cloak of Joseph. Prayer is difficult when you are assailed with temptations against purity, but St. Joseph will fight for you if only you invoke his holy name. - Fr. Calloway 🙏🏼 Saint Joseph, MOST Chaste, pray for us that we may be pure before God and see him with a pure heart. #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #stjohnvianney #stjohnpaulii #consecrationtostjoseph #stjosephmovement #litanyofstjoseph https://www.instagram.com/p/CNsug6ggkRI/?igshid=1ec0spt5erum6

“Saint Joseph, with the love and generosity with which he guarded Jesus, so too will he guard your soul, and as he defended him from Herod, so will he defend your soul from the fiercest Herod; the devil! All the care that the Patriarch St. Joseph has for Jesus, he has for you and will always help you with his patronage. He will free you from the persecution of the wicked and proud Herod, and will not allow your heart to be estranged from Jesus. Ite ad Ioseph! Go to Joseph with extreme confidence, because I do not remember having asked anything from St. Joseph, without having aontained it readily.” 🍎 -Saint Padre Pio of Pietralcina Saint Joseph knows better than anyone that as you seek to do God’s will, Satan, a spiritual Herod, is going to unleash his assassins against you. 💥This is why at the conclusion of praying the prayer of St. Michael the Archangel many of the faithful have begun now including the invocation of “St. Joseph pray for us!” that he might intercede in prayer for us also against the wickedness and snares of the devil who roams about the world seeking to devour souls. #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #stjohnvianney #stjohnpaulii #consecrationtostjoseph #stjosephmovement #litanyofstjoseph https://www.instagram.com/p/CNnvgmEA7cd/?igshid=7bxtzz8kv6ss

Chastity is a virtue. A very important virtue. To be chaste is to have self-mastery, to be in control of your passions and sexuality. Contrary to what many people think, a person who exercises chastity is not repressing or rejecting the beauty of human sexuality. On the contrary, chastity preserves the human heart and body for authentic self-giving. All people, no matter their vocation in life, are called to chastity. Chastity is the virtue that prevents us from being slaves to our passion and acting like irrational animals. Celibacy, on the other hand, is a special form of chastity. God calls some men and women to celibacy for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Saint Joseph both Chaste and Celibate. He was called by God to espouse a virgin consecrated to God in her mind, body, and soul. Saint Joseph was the Chaste Guardian of the Virgin. Saint Joseph and Mary lived in what is often called a “Josephine marriage.“ They were truly husband and wife, but they never engaged in sexual relations. Their vocation was to be united in heart, mind, and soul, but never in body. They were both consecrated to God and sacrificed a natural good for a greater good: the salvation of souls (Matthew 19:12). To be chaste is to be pure in heart. If a person’s heart is not pure, they are incapable of seeing God. St. Joseph’s heart was exceptionally pure. He gazed on the countenance of God in the Person of His Son for decades. Poets have often stated the eyes are the windows to the soul. If this is true, St. Joseph must have had the most chaste and pure eyes of any husband who ever lived. - Fr. The word “patriarch” means father. What all the patriarchs of the Old Testament foreshadowed, and all the Christian fathers are called to reflect, is the paternal light of God shining through the fatherhood of St. Joseph. After Christ, St. Joseph is the greatest of all the Patriarchs; he is the greatest of all fathers! “Picture to yourself the sanctity of all the patriarchs of old, that long line of successive generations which is the mysterious ladder of Jacob, culminating in the person of the Son of God. See how great was the faith of Abraham, the obedience of Isaac, the courage of David, the wisdom of Solomon. After you have formed the highest opinion of these saints, remember that Joseph is at the top of the ladder, at the head of the saints, the kings, the prophets, the patriarchs, that he is more faithful than Abraham, more obedient than Isaac, more generous than David, wiser than Solomon, in a word, as superior in grace as he is close to the source, Jesus sleeping in his arms.” - Blessed William Joseph Chaminade “I wish to extend a particular word of encouragement to fathers so that they make take St. Joseph as their model. He who kept watch over the Son of Man is able to teach them the deepest meaning of their own fatherhood.” - Pope Benedict XVI 🙏🏼 Saint Joseph, Light of Patriarchs, Pray for us that we might have the Light of Faith passed down from Abraham thru you to Jesus. And pray for our fathers to become fully alive to their vocation of fatherhood. St. Joseph is a model of the interior life for all his children. Joseph is not a priest, yet he is holier than all priests, including the patron saint of parish priests, St. John Vianney. After Jesus and Mary, Joseph is the holiest, most prayerful, and most virtuous person who has ever lived. He avoided anything and everything that displeased the Holy Spirit. How did he do it? Prayer. Through prayer, Saint Joseph perfectly exercised the virtues of faith, hope, and charity, as well as the moral virtue of prudence, temperance, justice, and fortitude. • “Consider that the entire life of St. Joseph was interior and hidden in God; so little known to the world that but a few holy writers mention him in a few places; and of his death gave no information. His was a life of prayer, quiet work, and constant sacrifice, and at the same time, a light shining with the splendor of all virtues.” - Saint Joseph Sebastian Pelczar • There has never been another quite like Saint Joseph, and there never will be. Yet you can become “another Joseph” in the world. You can become an “apparition” of Joseph for others. If you imitate Saint Joseph’s dedication to prayer and the interior life, you can resemble your spiritual father. We can all be saints! • Through consecrationion to Saint Joseph, the Holy Spirit will recognize St. Joseph in you and poor extraordinary graces into your heart, mind, and soul. 🙏🏼 Ask the Holy Spirit to make you into “another Joseph.” Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with graces similar to those he gave to the paternal heart of Saint Joseph. • #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #stjohnvianney #stjohnpaulii #stjosephconsecration #stjosephmovement #litanyofstjoseph God, the Holy Spirit, Have Mercy On Us https://www.instagram.com/p/CNKmFhkAvIa/?igshid=12negx5cyoxao

#ConsecrationtoStJoseph
(I)
O dearest St. Joseph, I consecrate myself to thy honor and give myself to thee, that thou mayest always be my father, my protector, and my guide in the way of salvation.
Obtain for me a great purity of heart and a fervent love of the interior life.
After thine example, may I do all my actions for the greater glory of God, in union with the Divine Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary!
And do thou, O Blessed St. Joseph, pray for me that I may share in the peace and joy of thy holy death Amen.
(2)
O Glorious Patriarch and Patron of the Church!
O Virgin Spouse of the Virgin Mother of God!
O Guardian and Virginal Father of the Word Incarnate!
In the presence of Jesus and Mary, I choose you this day to be my father, my guardian, and my protector.
O great St. Joseph, whom God has made the Head of the Holy Family, accept me, I beseech you, though utterly unworthy, to be a member of your “Holy House.”
Present me to your Immaculate Spouse; ask her also to adopt me as her child.
With her, pray that I may constantly think of Jesus, and serve him faithfully to the end of my life.
O Terror of Demons, increase in me virtue, protect me from the evil one, and help me not to offend God in any way.
O my Spiritual Father, I hereby consecrate myself to you.
In faithful imitation of Jesus and Mary, I place myself and all my concerns under your care and protection.
To you, after Jesus and Mary, I consecrate my body and soul, with all their faculties, my spiritual growth, my home, and all my affairs and undertakings.
Forsake me not, but adopt me as a servant and child of the Holy Family.
Watch over me at all times, but especially at the hour of my death.
Console and strengthen me with the presence of Jesus and Mary so that, with you, I may praise and adore the Holy Trinity forever.
Amen.

When Joseph looked on his pregnant wife he saw her as she was “The Ark” of the New Covenant. She bore the Light Bearer in her womb and carried him for 9 months to a world laden in darkness. 🙏🏼 St. Joseph help us open our eyes to see the Truth, teach us how to better adore Jesus through Mary who brings us most fully to Him, Blessed is the fruit of her womb! May the Lord hide us in her mantle 🔥That Flame of Love which burns to do the Father’s Divine Will and carry us through the darkness like a pillar of fire in the night, keeping the pestilence at bay and quenching the arrows that fly by day. In her womb you hid your Son from the devouring Dragon. Hide us now in her refuge from Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the earth seeking the ruin of souls. • #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #patriarch #fathers #mothers #crown #supernaturalwaysofroyalty #holyfamily #faithfulness #marriedlife #adoration #virginmary #monstrance #fruitofthewomb #ark #refuge #eucharist #litany #litanyofstjoseph #wakingeve https://www.instagram.com/p/B_V6ILpAaa_/?igshid=140v7q94xip48

In many ways, the home of the Holy Family was the first Christian monastery with perpetual Adoration which lasted 30 years! • St. Peter Julian Eymard wrote an amazing book called “The Month of St. Joseph” that offers incredible insights on St. Joseph’s life of prayer and adoration. It’s a masterpiece. Here’s an excerpt: • “Saint Joseph was the first adorer, the first religious...From his [Jesus’] entry into the world, even while still enclosed in Mary’s womb as in a living ciborium, Jesus singled out Mary and Joseph to be his adorers . Joseph responded royally. He never ceased adoring Jesus in her womb. And after the child’s birth at Bethlehem, Joseph and Mary adored him uninterruptedly as he lay before their eyes. They represented all mankind at the feet of Christ. Certainly Adam and Eve were well replaced.” • When we receive Holy Communion, let us consider that Jesus comes to us a little baby, and then let us pray that St. Joseph helps us welcome him, as when he held him in his arms. - St. Joseph Marello • JOIN US IN FACEBOOK GROUPS for more treasures about Saint Joseph. https://www.facebook.com/groups/216078232943327/?ref=share or Click Link in BIO. #saintjoseph #saintjosephsartssociety #marianfathers #frdonaldcalloway #stjosephconsecration #bookstagram #saintwisdom #qotd #joseph #increase #patriarch #fathers #mothers #crown #supernaturalwaysofroyalty #holyfamily #faithfulness #marriedlife #holymarriage #litany #litanyofstjoseph #wakingeve https://www.instagram.com/p/B_S1E4mApP_/?igshid=1ra69v61a0ty2
