i fucking killed Windows 11 with a giant hammer. I'm now running Linux exclusively. on my gaming desktop I'm running Mint and for a regular desktop user it works perfectly out of the box. right now I'm trying to run a game with a mod manager that is designed for PC so im figuring that out

BUT you all should do it too. go switch, be free, spread your wings AND don't let garage mega-corps take advantage of you

Linux is great because you be starting at a terminal for hours, hop on YouTube so that you can find any possible solution to your problem, see a video that's 14 years old from a channel with sub-100, say "Fuck it, I'll try," and it works.

Decommission Day

We're putting an old cluster out to pasture starting this week. Does anyone want pictures or stuff as we tear it down? It's been running for 10 years, water cooled with quick disconnect fittings, and the fittings started failing about 4 years ago so we haven't done any hardware maintenance. Removing a node had a chance to short out a whole rack from a fitting failure, and that would be sketchy to say the least. But, its a fun look at enterprise HPC at a small-ish HPC site.

Finding a digital audio player that does not sell my data, doesn't run android, and has a decent DAC and Amp is fucking insane. Why is capitalism so bad? I've considered finding an old windows tablet and making it run a linux distro just so I can avoid the usb audio hosting issues with android. Grrrrhh why can't they make things that work well and don't sell my data?!?!

Man i love working with hardware.

Gave my main PC bravo a clean today, took em outside and blew all the dust out her radiators with the air compressor and cleaned out her case.

Gave her a fresh bit of cable management and insalled a CD drive i was meant to install a while ago.

After all that clean i gave her annother wipe down and took off her cooler to re-paste the CPU.

So now she is all clean, her thermals look great and im pleased with todays work on her.

Gotta make sure you give your computer a good clean and some love after you abuse them. Especially when you set them up with positive airflow to maximise cooling at the cost of becoming a dust collector.

Overall Bravo had a good clean today, and i've eveb taken some good time to fix how her insides looked, had to be very carefull while doing that, since i dont want electrostaic to mess with her parts so i had to set her up on my desk and take all her panles off to get a good poke arround inside.

All good even dowm to the PSUs management, gonna be a hell of a lot easier to maintain her in the future.
