A female director shooting a documentary about all kinds of actresses falls for one of them.

It took me a while to get interested. At the end it was even a bit "meta". Maïwenn shooting the movie, but being constantly in the frame, so it has to be filmed by another director, so she's becoming the subject of the "doc". Though I don't think it should be taken too seriously.

To a degree I'm familiar with all the actresses, but I don't know too much about their private "image" off camera, so I can't say to what degree there's another layer to the movie. Though it's making fun of the (French) film industry in general, art films, blockbusters, awards, etc.

It was a bit of a problem that you could often feel that the actresses were playing a role. But there were still a number of funny scenes, like, Linh-Dan Pham and her parents, and Karole Rocher at the acting class.

Not sure if the musical numbers were necessary.

Don't comment on the drawing quality because I'm a shit artist. I take constructive criticism not insults to my (occasional) hobby

Ironically Tam (and actually a lot of the KOTLC cast who take issues with legacies) would not get along with Tai. Tai is 1. someone who values legacies and families a lot (don't worry the legacy-hating isn't personal, the gang just have a VERY poor outlook on legacies after the shitshows with them) and 2. He's an artist. Like Mai. So unfortunately for Tam Tai kind of rings alarm bells.

I read a "if gender norms don't exist in the lost cities, why don't the boys wear dresses" post yesterday! That post also mentioned wanting to see Tam in a dress. I started sketching, then halfway through thought "what if I put him in an áo dài" (I HC Tam and Linh as mixed Vietnamese and Chinese due to first names and last name) THEN transitioned to "what if he cosplayed Tai Pham"

I'll be honest. The reason Tam is in a bad mood is because I gave up on his eyes.

If a doctor tells you, “You have cancer and probably only have six months to live," you will likely feel completely overwhelmed. The fear, the idea that “I’m going to die in six months", can take away your peace and joy. Before the doctor told you about the cancer you could sit and enjoy your tea, eat your meal, or watch the moon, while now your fear takes away all your joy and freedom.

But the doctor’s words can be a bell of mindfulness. We all have six months left to live, or seven months, or ten years. If we can know and accept that death is something that comes to everybody, we will not suffer so much. The doctor who tells us we have six months left to live will also die. Maybe the doctor will die before us. We may be lucky to have six months to live. If we look deeply, we see things that we can’t otherwise see. We can get back our freedom from fear and, with that freedom and non-fear, we may live those six months happily.

We are all equal as far as life and death are concerned. Everyone has to die. But before we die, can we live properly? If we live properly, the quality of our last six months can be higher than if we were to live six or sixty more years. If we’re caught in the fetters of suffering, our lives don’t have the same meaning they would if we lived in freedom. Knowing that we have to die, we can become determined to live our lives properly and deeply. If we’re not able to live with peace, joy, and freedom, then we live as if we’re already dead.

Southbound – the southernmost record of Tylototriton (Amphibia, Caudata, Salamandridae) from the Central Highlands of Vietnam represents a new species

Abstract

A new species of the genus Tylototriton is described from Ngoc Linh Mountain, Kon Tum Province, in the Central Highlands of Vietnam based on integrative taxonomy, namely by combining molecular and morphological evidence.  Tylototriton ngoclinhensis sp. nov. differs from all other congeners based on morphological data, allopatric distribution, and molecular divergence. Tylototriton ngoclinhensis sp. nov. is restricted to evergreen montane forests near water bodies on Ngoc Linh Mountain. We suggest that the new species should be classified as Endangered (EN) in the IUCN Red List. This new important discovery represents the eighth Tylototriton taxon described from Vietnam, and at the same time constitutes the southernmost distributional record for the whole genus in Asia.
