Chapter 611 is up!
The Batman gambit Jinghua pulled is so mind-blowing, even Siyun is impressed. This should probably end all discussions on who is the brains of the duo now xD
That's the end of the "Red Moon" arc!
And here's a New Year art from Pingzi:
Tumblr media
If you like my Ling Qi translations, you can toss a coin to your translator and buy me a Kofi! But I accept praises and head pats as well (...though looking at how I'm currently unemployed, Kofi is probably better!)

Thoughts I had during TGCF S1 Ep 4
Heads up, this will probably be a short one since it mostly focuses on the worldbuilding on the 4 calamity ghosts now here we go!
-Previously on TGCF…
-He’s so distraught he couldn’t follow
-Yeah it’s not that Fu Yao
-He does look like the same age as a teen
-That’s a lotta scrolls
-The telepathic matrix, is basically the world’s first discord server
-Qi Rong will be important later on
-That goddess has a point
-Thank you Ling Wen
-Oh that had everyone shook
-Aw he likes Hua Cheng’s name!
-Ooh that disturbed Ling Wen
-More on the Black Demon later…
-That explains the fall of Xianle and the Moldy Face Plague
-Let’s be honest, Bai Wuxiang is totally responsible for Covid-19
-Xie Lian’s hand…
-Is he long since passed though? (Sorry, I’ve heard of the spoilers)
-Woah Hua Cheng has made his mark on Heaven
-Those lights sure look like floating lanterns…
-Aww he thinks the Butterflies are beautiful!
-Honestly, smart move Mu Qing and Feng Xin
-That’s also foreshadowing
-Don’t worry Nan Yang, they’re trapping her under a mountain
-Aww he thanked the two generals!
-Another camera shake!
-Those poor, poor archivists
-Oh she is so burnt out
-Really, I thought paying it off would take longer than that?
-The assistants got eyes bags too…
-I think that same question every day…
-Ling Wen really deserves a raise AND vacation
-He’s settling in well
-Yeah, who was the Prince of Xianle anyway?
-HUDDLE UP!
-Hehehehe Dick Yang XD
-River Frog!
-And repairs too
-Oooooh awesome music!
-That’s a lot of stuff…
-Hitchhiking!
-And Honghai (A TGCF OC) is like @ Xie Lian: So he’s a dumpster diver?
-Woah word sure travels fast
-That’s a good lesson Xie Lian
-Ooooh here he comes!
-More camera shakes
-WHY IS EVERYBODY’S EYELINER GAME SO ON POINT?!?!?!?!

Hiii, how are you? I hope you are doing ok! <3 sending love and hugs. I wanted to ask you... i think i remember something about tgcf having live action adaptation. Was that real or was just a dream i had or something? If it's real do you know if we will have it or what happened to the project? Idk if my mind made that up! sorry and thanks :)
Hiii Anon!
No, it's not some mad collective fever dream we all had, they really did film it (6 months of shooting between July 2021 and January 2022). Native title is 吉星高照 (Ji Xing Gao Zhao) English title is Eternal Faith.
If we ever get to see it is another matter, i probably don't need to say the main reason is because it's a danmei adaptation - it'll have a harder time passing the censors than the average cdrama. Since the popularity of other dangais it seems the censors have become stricter in any case. Job one is always going to be passing the censors.
While checking chinese websites and articles I did find several sources of a rumour that the site security punched a girl who was visiting the set. I can't vouch for the reliability of this but anything that can potentially attract criticism can delay a cdrama release further. Other criticisms include the casting of the male leads, how cheap the set design and costuming look, and a cancelled actress who may have to remain uncredited.
So it will need to satisfy the censors in order to be relased, as well as satisfy the general public and tgcf fans to be worth releasing and I'm not sure if it can do it all. If all goes well and it does ever pass censorship, we won't get a release date in advance. I don't know if you've ever experienced waiting for a cdrama release but you will not get much warning when it airs. It will likey drop with a couple days warning in form of internet rumours, or just completely out of the blue.
HAVING SAID THAT - another rumour is that a full costume bl drama like the untamed will be released internationally in Sept 2024, bypassing a Chinese release. It's just a rumour but it does make this webpage very interesting! But please remember everything above and not get too excited just yet 😂.
I'm gonna share some set photos just because 😍

Link Click live action drama EP1-4 thoughts
Where to watch: Bilibili (no eng subs at the moment) Bilibili English site (Releasing on Jun 22, assuming it will have subs)
After seeing the atrocious live-action adaptation of Fox Spirit Matchmaker, all hope is lost. But the Link Click drama is produced by the same team who adapted Hikaru no Go (Qi Hun), which was good. Let's see how this goes…
Tumblr media
Plot
The screenwriter said this is a prequel, but I disagree. I would describe it as taking the Link Click universe and creating a canon adjacent edition of it, an AU to the original. The outline of the story is very similar, but the finer details and premise are very different from those of the donghua.
In the donghua, the boys were already engaged in time travelling, and we learn later on that they met at university. So far, it has never been explained how they discovered their superpowers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whereas in the drama they changed the premise, Cheng Xiaoshi meets Lu Guang for the first time when Lu Guang rescues him from being beaten up by a fish vendor...interesting choice of first meet...Cheng Xiaoshi explains that he was born with a natural instinct, but it's not exactly clear what the superpower is. Qiao Ling is also unaware of Cheng Xiaoshi's superpowers.
Instead of Emma, we have Zhang Xueting, a corporate worker that face injustice. But in this case Cheng Xiaoshi doesn't take over her body, but some other guy. The relationship she has with her parents and the iconic line "Dad, mom, I miss you" is no longer in the drama. I feel like this one is a miss since the family aspect has been shifted.
Tumblr media
Then the noodle lesbians...haven't appeared, unless they moved that to a later episode???
Tumblr media
Following the donghua, the next one is Chen Xiao who went back in time to say final words to his loved ones before the earthquake. This one made me cry once again 😭
Tumblr media
Characters
Everything has changed. OOC at some moments in my opinion. Since season 3 of the anime is not released yet, I'm taking a wild guess that the drama will have an original ending as well. The donghua team appears to have no involvement with the production of the drama.
Qiao Ling is not just a landlady, she is also a journalist at her day job. By the looks of it, helping people will be executed through her reporting profession, and it seems like she will have a lot more involvement compared to the donghua.
Tumblr media
Her parents also comes into the story, her parents on the right in the screenshot below. They run a restaurant. Cheng Xiaoshi is very close to them and helps out some times.
Tumblr media
Cheng Xiaoshi is portrayed as someone with no real job, he hasn't gone to university and uses idioms incorrectly. Obviously Lu Guang couldn't have met him at uni in this universe. He's a lot more exaggerated and cartoony. I have mixed feelings about this.
Tumblr media
Because of the casting, Cheng Xiaoshi is shorter than Lu Guang. I'm sorry to all the girlies who were into canon tall Cheng Xiaoshi 🙏
Tumblr media
Lu Guang now has a back story, he has a teacher who passed away that taught him about time travelling?? He briefly mentioned he found the Cheng Xiaoshi they were looking for. Looks like they will unveil the superpowers origins in the drama.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ A glimpse of the teacher in his memory. Can you believe it's Yuen Kingdan?!?
The overall acting from the cast is fairly well done. There are several actors acting as Cheng Xiaoshi at the same time, and it still feel like it's the same person. Anyone who watched the Hikaru no Go live action will find familiarity here, as some of the actors from that production are also part of this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall
It's okay so far, although that might change as it airs. It's difficult to digest if you treat this as a faithful adaptation (I know the none cdrama fans have been questioning why Lu Guang don't have white hair). However, if you watch it like it's an AU, and resist the urge to compare it, it's not unwatchable.
I do have one small complaint, the drama should have had a different title because now it's going to get mixed up with the donghua content when people look it up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One last thing. The ending song slaps hard!

My reaction to TGCF Season 2 Ep 8 (Part 4)
*novel spoilers*
Tumblr media
“I can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m disappointed”
Xie Lian’s face here omg
Tumblr media
LITTLE PEI!!
Hey boy haven’t seen you since like Episode 1, how are you? Get him to Ban Yue guys he lonely 😔
Tumblr media
HIS CURSING IS BEEPED OUT OMG HAHAHA
This bitch. That has to be the funniest shit ever stop I fucking love this
Qi Rong just continue being… whatever the fuck you are. Don’t change
No but if this is what happens every time Qi Rong speaks, I am so here for it
Tumblr media
Oh honey (he wants to beat the shit out of QR, which, understandable)
Tumblr media
Chibis? Right now? It’s always at the most random times, but I’m not complaining
Ok but he’s somewhat right about them, except not in the way he worded it. Also never insult Ling Wen, Shi Qingxuan, and Quan Yizhen in front of me, you hear? I will forever protect them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not Xie Lian just going “Sigh, this bitch was always like this” while Hua Cheng looks like he is about to go apeshit (understandable)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uh oh
Ok but why does Qi Rong’s voice sound kind of… hot when he isn’t yelling or screaming. When he’s calm, it’s somewhat soothing. Wait no I need help.
Ok but this makes me look so forward to the English dub. They better cast someone good that matches Qi Rong’s energy in their voice
And I forgot that he was the one to start the rumor of Pei Ming wanting to replace QYZ with Little Pei as the Western Martial God. QYZ does not give a shit tho so that’s not gonna start anything
Ok but I find it funny how QR addresses Pei Ming as “Stallion Pei”

So… I found my collection of incorrect quotes from 9th and 10th grade and thought I might as well make them into a tgcf version XD
(Btw some of them don’t make sense without context so I’ll give the context/ change it up a bit so it makes sense. All of them happened though)
~~~
Lang Qianqiu: Are we supposed to write that down?
Xie Lian (as Fangxin): … No, I’m writing this on the blackboard for myself.
~~~
(In English class)
Hua Cheng: Do you know what ‘sweat’ means (in German)?
He Xuan: Yes, Schweiz
(Schweiz = Switzerland, Sweat = Schweiß)
[c]~~~
(During a heavenly officials meeting)
Quan Yizhen: *plays with his pen*
Jun Wu: Quan Yizhen, hands up!
Quan Yizhen: *puts up his hands and stays there for the rest of the presentation*
~~~
(Guzi and Lang Ying talking about stuffed animals)
Guzi: I’ve got a lion, a bunny, a polar bear, a whiskey wolf…
Lang Ying: O_O
Guzi: HUSKEY! I mean huskey… TwT
~~~
Shi Qingxuan (in ghost city arc): Your Highness Tai hua, your not really showing me the bright side of your brain right now…
~~~
Guoshi: Back in the 17th century, none of you would be able to write or read.
(sees Hua Cheng's writing)
Guoshi: … well, some of you still can’t do that
~~~
Mu Quing: Did you see that? Feng Xin hit me!
Xie Lian: Sure, I’ll pity you if I have the time.
~~~
Guoshi: So you wish me to give you all your grades based on sympathy?
Feng Xin: You’d give Mu Quing an F, then.
~~~
Xie Lian: what do you get when you’re sick?
Feng Xin and Mu Quing: Tea.
Pei Ming: Alcohol
~~~
Quan Yizhen: Well, I don’t know if the North Pole is up or down.
~~~
Qi Rong: I’m too far developed for this world.
Hua Cheng: Okay let’s continue before Idia develops to a flash drive. (Let's pretend they know what that is)
~~~
Mu Quing: When are there more death notices in the newspaper?
Feng Xin: On Easter
~~~
Xie Lian: *wants to draw a little earth* I need the cap of the pen to get a circle.
Lang Qianqiu: Earth isn’t round, it’s flat.
~~~
Pei Ming: *smells a Labello*
Shi Wudu: *sighs* You got a problem.
~~~
Shi Qingxuan: Did something like that happen to you before? (Don’t remember what it was but it was immoral)
Everyone at the heavenly officials meeting: No, never!
Shi Qingxuan: Sure, you’re all angels…
Feng Xin: Can’t you see the halo over our heads?
Shi Qingxuan: Sure, I see it over all of you. Except for Pei Ming, he has a dark cloud that says “evil”
~~~
Ling Wen: Why is there a Ford Fiesta on the roof?
Shi Wudu: Because it flew up there.
~~~
(Talking about a field trip)
Feng Xin: Are there bikes?
Mu Quing: Yes, but they don’t have training wheels, so you’re out.

So it looks like (we won't know until the booting ceremony but Douban has been updated) Zhang Linghe and Zhao Jinmai will be in another drama together. Which is .. fast, but hey their chemistry is great. And it's the director/writer group that did Minglan/Battle of Changsha/Nirvana in Fire/When a Snail Falls in Love ... so it's ~prestige~
I'm looking at the synopsis of the novel it's based on, Oceans of Time:
Lin Qi Le, a young girl who lived in the mountains at the back of a small town and who was nicknamed Ying Tao (*Cherry), grew up surrounded by love. By her side there were loving, enlightened parents and elders, sincere, cheerful friends and partners, every plant and tree around her was warmly familiar, her whole world is so bright, without an ounce of shadow. When she was nine years old, she met the most unique person in her life - Jiang Qiao Xi, a transferred student from the capital. Jiang Qiao Xi doesn't fit around there, whether it is his outstanding abilities in mathematics, the "genius" aura around him, his gloomy and quiet personality and his noble family that is yet so full of secrets. Jiang Qiao Xi was as cold and pale as the snow on the mountain, but Lin Ying Tao was like a small flame, persistently warming him, lightening him, and accompanying him. Youngsters' feelings are deep, their promises are for a lifetime, but sadly, fate has its own twists and turns. In the next eleven years, they experienced separation, reunion, leaving without saying goodbye, and courting in a foreign land, until the age of twenty, when they gained the precious gift of growth and the ability to assume on each other's happiness. At this moment, they were no longer the innocent children on the construction site in the mountains, but every memory of their growth is like an amber, tough and clear, a lifetime charm.
NGL my first reaction is: this is VERY Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian from Go Ahead. Which to I say, bring it on.
But also, I now have this song stuck in my head from the novel's english title... OCEANS APART...DAY AFTER DAY...

I L O V E your Peerless fanart, I even made it my background. Can you recommend some of your favorite danmei?
OMG!! I'm HONORED WWWAAAAAAAA!!! crying, screaming , throwing up, etc. You've made my day thank you. omg.
Tumblr media
and uh yes but my preferences are a lil scewed and I always feel a lil awkward giving reconmendations because idk I have such a weird ranking system in my head and I just read and get obsessed with things and then reread them (TGCF does not count, I have read it 4 or 5 times through and is an outlier that should not be counted; plus I'd assume you mean like lesser known/not MXTX novels)
SO. That being said I actually have a SUPER chaotic presentation on all the ones I've read that i will not dump on u here but I might make a recs post with my ramblings 👀✨ or yk if you really want a break down/ more info message me
Personally tho my favorites:
Thousand Autumns / Qian Qiu / 千秋 by 梦溪石 Meng Xishi (I assume if you like Peerless you probably also like Thousand Autumns LOL which is top teir for me persoonally)
Idk if i'd say it's my favorite but it's my favorite; Lord Seventh / Qi Ye / 七爷 . I cannot stress how much I love Qi Ye. It is sooooo omg. LOVE it. And of course along side it is Faraway Wanderers / Tian Ya Ke / 天涯客 both by Priest (which is of course aka Word or Honor/Shan he ling/山河令 because of the LA, def reconmend both and read in the order they take place in; it hightens the experience for sure)
UUUUM another that I have started and really enjoyed and highly reconmend but havn't finished myself yet for one reason or another are Qiang Jin Jiu / 将进酒 by 唐酒卿 Tang Jiuqing (I think the English name is like Invitation to Wine??? Don't quote me on that)

Hello....Because you also love TGCF. Your top 5 (or top 3) fav Yuumori characters will be besties with who (in your opinions) if they were in other universe, with your top fav characters from TGCF? Hope my questions are not confusing.....
I kind of ran wild with the premise of this question and didn't stick to five or to just my faves, but anyways here's some random character combo thoughts haha!
Shi Qingxuan and James Bond are either besties or sworn enemies.
Xie Lian and Albert do horrifying things in the kitchen together.
Hua Cheng kind of mildly vibes with William's "abused street kid with a vendetta" (and eventually one eye) thing.
Hua Cheng has confusing feelings about Louis in English 😂😂
Ling Wen and Mycroft spend a lot of time sighing and rubbing their temples in each other's company.
Sherlock and Xie Lian solve a case together.
Feng Xin and Moran bond over their endearingly obsessive guard dog habits.
Mu Qing and Louis hate each other.
Pei Ming and Moran also hate each other.
He Xuan is very onboard with the Moriarty cause.
Qi Rong steals a prototype automobile from Herder's workshop and all hell breaks loose.

Cnovels I've Read
I'm in the mood for making a list and @danmeiljie's danmei list has inspired me, so ~enjoy~ if you care. I'm classifying "cnovels" in the broad literal sense of novels written in Chinese by Chinese authors, so this is not limited to just webnovels.
Tumblr media
★s are my personal rating, ❤ denote favourites. I'm aware that there's zero consistency in this list between use of Chinese vs English titles, I'm just going by what I usually refer to them as.

Free wallpapers from Pingzi as Dragon's boat celebration gift ❤️
As a gift for all the Ling Qi fans out there, Pingzi shared a pack with chosen season 4 wallpapers ❤️Since they are available through QQ and WeChat though (and making an account there became quite complicated), I’ve downloaded them to a separate Google Drive folder and posted it on my Wordpress.
Tumblr media
Since typically you can only get wallpapers by sharing on the QQ group a screenshot showing you support the author on Tencent, that’s a really generous gift, so enjoy 😍

Wooooh. Just finished The Last Immortal. :) :) :)
And since it is completed, I am now allowed to give spoilers from the novel Shen Yin or Hidden God by Xing Ling hahahhaa. Gosh, you don't know how much I wanted to fangirl with someone over this hahha!!
Thing is, I love the drama! I love the story and many more things about it.
But dang it, because the novel is even more heartbreaking.
WARNING: NOVEL SPOILERS BELOW. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. (Many things are not included/changed in the drama, so this may seem unfamiliar.)

.
Disclaimer: Let it be said that it was very, very hard to find good english translations for this novel. I had to endure reading robot and google translation. XD
The points below are spoilers I noted from what I understood of what I have read.
Low and behold...
1) Yuan Qi's sacrifice
🪷A thousand years ago, when Yuan Qi used the spirit sword to punish A Yin, Yuan Qi had already been dead.
See, the power of chaos can bring the immortal souls to life. So when Gu Jin became a god, he used his power to ensure the reborn of everyone they lost on Daze Mountain. He did it at the expense of his own life.
Feng Yin learned this too late.
2) The last battles
🪷Feng Yin joined the contest for the role of heavenly empress. Ajiu disguised himself to join it with her. They were together fighting Hua Shu and Hua Mo.
While this was happening, Yuan Qi was using all he has to seal the purgatory. Bibo was with him, his heart breaking at learning that Yuan Qi only had a body because of the Spirit Sword. All that he was seeing was nothing but a piece of a soul still fighting to save the three realms.
His friend Yuan Qi had long been gone. The power of chaos was no more.
Now, these next parts are from the epilogues.
3) Feng Yin's Dreams
🪷After Yuan Qi's death, Feng Yin keeps dreaming about him. In those dreams, Yuan Qi will tell her, "As long as you're here, I will always be by your side. Believe me, I will never leave you."
4) Ayin's forgotten lifetimes
Did you ever wonder what happened to Ayin in all those lifetimes she had lived in her tribulations?
Remember in the drama how Yuan Qi visited every reborn immortal from Daze Mountain but they couldn't seem to remember him?
🪷 In Shen Yin, that piece of Yuan Qi that clings with A Yin, the very part of him that saved himself in the drama, that piece had been with Ayin in every lifetime in all the tribulations that she had.
In every lifetime that she lived, there was a person who had been a constant, always with her, always looking after her, always trying to save her and failing no matter how hard he tried.
He always looked after her from one lifetime to another. But at every end, he took away her memories of him.
5) Feng Yin goes to the god realm
🪷Feng Yin forced her way into the god realm to plead Gu Jin's parents for help.
But Shang Gu just told her that Yuan Qi is her own flesh and blood. If she could save him, she would have done so already. She told Feng Yin to go back as it wasn't her time to enter the god realm yet.
6) Uncle Devil God
🪷 The devil god appeared before Feng Yin. He said he's there to sight see. Oh, and he also wants to save his eldest nephew, Yuan Qi, who doesn't even look at him.
Feng Yin had no qualms believing the devil god if he says he can really save Yuan Qi. It made the devil god very amused.
The devil god was kind enough to reveal the fact that long ago, when Feng Yin's souls were scattered into the world, Yuan Qi took a piece of his soul for her. And this soul has been with her all along. The power of chaos had been with her affecting her karma in every reincarnation. Yuan Qi's soul and Feng Yin's soul were intertwined. So if she lives, then he would not die.
When Feng Yin asked him why he's telling her all these, the devil god answered that many years ago, a man told him that a devil is a devil and will never be recognized by all spirit and is meant to temper the spirits. He believed all these and so he played his role. But Feng Yin showed him that fate can be changed, and so he wants to give it a try.
Feng Yin used that piece to revive Yuan Qi.
7) Scheming true god in-laws
🪷Meanwhile, in the god realm, Bai Jue is asking Sang gu why she didn't just tell Feng Yin that Yuan Qi could be saved when she came for them.
Shang Gu replied that the son (P.S. she actually calls Yuan Qi 'bastard' lol) is just like his father. He lives as he says and dies at he says. She also wanted to teach her daughter-in-law (aka Feng Yin).
They could not help teasing each other, as always. It was cute haha.
8) Yuan Qi and Feng Yin's married life
🪷In the novel, they had a daughter and Yuan Qi calls her princess. They banter about who she takes after, and Feng Yin asks him who is more important, her or their daughter? XD
When said daughter goes missing, the hint is for them to look where there are handsome immortals. Hahhahaa.
She totally took after them.

NOTE: Before you freak out, those links are Chinese and Indonesian. YES, I KNOW. I did say I had to read robot and google translate lol. So to read it in your language, log in to google. Open the link in mobile. At the upper right of the google tab, click on the three consecutive dots and select 'Translate' (to English or whatever language you need it translated).
Enjoy! :)

An in-text rumor rating does sound interesting!
For example, WWX being a ‘playboy’ is something believed by everyone, even JC, and fandom even has a tag for it. But!there are lines about WWX saving his first kiss, he never follows up on his flirts, he actually dies a virgin himself, and a lot of those rumors came from ‘yllz deflowering virgins’ and other propaganda to turn WWX into a public target by the clans. And at the time WWX was stuck on a corpse mountain burying a giggling radish.
So the RUMOR is true but it’s not ‘true’ for the character.
And, JC killing DC cultivators as a ‘rumour’ is interesting. Cuz one of the first thoughts we get from JC is him thinking to take away ‘MXY’ to ‘confirm’ and this is from his first opening appearance. When JC feels sure and WWX is finally cornered, JC just gives a gesture and his disciples act immediately, bribing and cordoning off the inn and absolutely no one intervenes as WWX screams in terror from inside.
Jin Ling is the most important character witness for JC, as he the closest to him and also the one who defends JC the most. And he confirms that JC ‘doesn’t let any of them go even if they’re innocent’ and actively helps MXY escape, saving him from his own Uncle. Even if the specific statement about JC whipping people to death is false, there is enough to say that there is some credibility to it overall. And JC’s overall violent behavior, even to his own nephew, doesn’t do him any favors.
This is getting a bit too long sorry, but I need to point out a problem with mo dao and gui dao. Just in case you don’t know, the official translation messes up these extremely important words which leads to a lot of confusion about WWX’s actual cultivation and fanon claiming that it is evil. WWX practices gui dao and other than one time, uses this to describe his cultivation. Xue Yang uses mo dao and all its horrors as seen in Yi City and the Villainous Friends extra.
This can get very confusing when getting into details and singular incidents, when seeing how the narrative treats WWX’s cultivation, how the public is made to see it, how clans like LQR assume it to be, how JGS tries to recreate it, and of course, how it’s treated when compared to the Nie cultivation and how its users always canonically Qi deviate but doesn’t face such scrutiny cuz Nie is a Great Clan.
But obviously you can’t just believe my words, so perhaps there might be a need for a direct Chinese text confirmation, maybe from a trusted friend or online if you can find a trusted source (very hard in this fandom sadly).
Thank you for your time. I hope this blog is fun for you, I love MDZS and having even more people analyzing this amazing book and text is wonderful.

i really appreciate your second ask, and there's no need to apologize! i did in fact ask for correction on that claim about jiang cheng, and i'm happy to get constructive feedback. thank you for messaging me! (and if these aren't sent from the same person...... whoops)
to your second point: if i'm understanding it correctly, you're saying that the "demonic cultivation" we know from the english translations is actually two things mistranslated as one; wei wuxian's branch "gui dao", which he invented, and the actual "mo dao" of Mo Dao Zu Shi, which is the more... harmful/evil of the two, and which maybe existed before wei wuxian came along? (or he invented both but only uses gui dao?) the implications i'm getting here are that the fandom (and many of the characters) misconstrues wei wuxian's actual method for the "evil" method and so thinks wei wuxian is committing more harm than he actually is.
that's a really interesting point, and i'm glad you brought it to my attention. unfortunately, i don't have any preexisting trusted friends/sources that would be able to help me with the chinese raws. in general, my unfamiliarity with these nuances (and chinese culture as a whole) means that i'm much more likely to make mistakes if i rely on that knowledge base on this blog. as i mentioned in my pinned post, i'm only using the english translation of the novels for this reason, and the english versions don't differentiate between different forms of demonic cultivation.
in future posts i will likely not be making a distinction between "gui dao" and "mo dao" without extra help; however, i also don't intend on answering any submissions that would require me to make the distinction anyways. i'm trying to be as objective as possible on this blog (with the exception of some clearly labeled analysis), and i don't exactly feel qualified to rate something as subjective as morality. i can rate the canon or fanon status of specific actions such as "wei wuxian digs up graves," but submissions that make generalizing statements along the lines of "wei wuxian's branch of cultivation is evil" will be ignored.
thank you again for the ask! i'd love to continue this conversation, especially if you (or anyone else) wants to clarify something here. i love MDZS too and i'm really happy that so many people are coming along for this ride with me :)

I’ve wanted to make this post for a while but wanted to wait until the dub was officially over so
My Final Thoughts on the TGCF Season 2 English Dub
Howard Wang as Xie Lian is fucking perfect. Every single time he spoke it just, I don’t know how to properly put it into words, except it is so well done?? But when XL started basically having a mental breakdown in front of Hua Cheng after Lang Qianqiu found out about the truth of the Gilded Banquet, holy fuck did the emotions just hit me in the feels. The scream and he emotional fatigue after? Xie Lian’s voice is perfection omg
Shoutout to James Cheek for just voicing the gayest character ever (Hua Cheng) and writing the gayest script for TGCF. While I liked his voice in the first season, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of it. It wasn’t until the second season where almost everything improved, and James’s voice for Hua Cheng? *chef’s kiss*. Okay but at least tone down the gayness a bit. And seeing someone who has read the novel and having little easter eggs for the novel readers for them to go insane over is incredible. I’m going to miss his voice in Season 3 since they’re going to have to cast someone else as Hong’er, but that’s ok.
Male and Female Shi Qingxuan: OMG??? Perfect casting. I just know they both put so much effort into them and I am eternally grateful. They just sound like the best of friends (they are). Every single line from them was so fucking iconic, which is accurate to the Wind Master’s character. I love both their voices so much you don’t understand.
Lang Qianqiu: AAHHHHH. My son, my boy, they gave him justice and I am so happy. First read through of TGCF, I only cared for HuaLian, but reading it again has made me appreciate and fall in love with the side characters, with Lang Qianqiu being one of them. I’ll say it did take a bit for me to adjust to it, but he sounds so much like an anime protagonist that I am ok with it. Another perfect casting. I’m going to be so fucking sad that he won’t appear for such a long time, and while he does get brought up occasionally, his last appearance is going to be the finale. I’ll miss you my son 😔
Jun Wu: ASDFGHJKL. He sounds like such a manipulative/toxic ex and a father figure at the same time. wtf. But his voice is so sexy tho. I don’t like it but I do. And I thought his original Chinese voice was hot, and then the English one goes and surprises me. I hate that I love it
Qi Rong: Perfection, glorious, fucking incredible. HIS VA IS PERFECT. Original was slaying so hard, and English? Fucking killing it. He was actually the one I was looking forward to the most, and he 👏 did 👏 not👏 disappoint. I won’t get over the perfect casting. Ever. The crazy and mad laughs? The insults I’ve never heard about but decided to keep in mind? Literally everything. I’m sorry I can’t get over how great his voice is
Feng Xin and Mu Qing (of course together): I am so biased towards Lucien Dodge, so I immediately loved his voice for him. He slaying that tsundere cat boy vibe so well. I will admit that his voice made me like his character more tbh. Ok but Feng Xin’s? Every time I hear it, I always need at least 30 seconds to get used to it. Idk why. I don’t hate it, and I actually love it, but he sounds so much like a dad it’s so funny. I still love him tho.
Pei Ming: 😳. No but that was actually my reaction to his voice. Why is every single god’s voice so hot. Please calm down. I really did not like Pei Ming at first but damn. I can actually understand why every single woman went weak with him.
Ling Wen: While she didn’t get as much dialogue this season, I’ll still count her. I’ve heard some drama relating to her voice actress from a while back but I’m not bringing it up rn. But her English voice is almost exactly the same as the original, just, different languages of course. She has such a unique voice and it’s quite pleasing to hear. She also sounds a bit like Siri but it fits her character
Other major characters that got only a few lines but still slayed their roles (Ming Yi, Pei Xiu, Jian Lan, Yin Yu): Hello?? Can I be patient to hear their voices again? Probably not, but please I need more of them. Ming Yi sounded hot since he took voice lessons from Hua Cheng, Pei Xiu sounded like such a little wet cat (wtf where did this crush on him come from), Jian Lan slayed because she is such an underrated queen, and Yin Yu? I WAS NOT EXPECTING A DEEP VOICE FROM WTF. I will say I do prefer his Chinese VA a little more due to it being more in character with him sounding soft and somewhat tired. But I enjoy his confident and announcing voice. They should keep him for the QuanYin flashbacks.
All in all, perfect cast. I don’t have twitter/X but I see things from the VA’s from time to time. And seeing them interact with the fandom and trying to give more to their characters makes me so happy. I just desperately need for more of the characters to have voices (aka Shi Wudu, Quan Yizhen, Mei Nianqing, Yushi Huang, Male!Ling Wen, White-No-Face). Give me more please.
Please check out the dub it’s so fucking great.
