Spiny Lobster Season Ends this Weekend

Monday, the 31st, closes the annual lobster season in Florida. With water temperatures being as cool as they are and with this recent cool front we can expect only the hardiest divers and those with wet suits to be out this weekend.

Now is the time to plan for the next season and to make your hotel reservations if you are planning on a trip to the Keys. Check out Lime Tree Bay Resort on Long Key. It is a bayside hotel that features one of the best sunset on the water views anywhere in the Keys plus it has great access to some of the finest lobstering in the Keys.

There are two Florida Lobster Seasons, the 2-day mini season and the 8-month regular lobster season. The mini lobster season is always the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday in July. This year, 2014, the mini season falls on July 30th and 31st. Make sure to always verify dates and regulations with Florida Fish and Wildlife It begins at 12:01 am on Wednesday and ends at 12:00 midnight on Thursday. The regular 8 month lobster season is always August 6 through March 31.
