Hey, just to write out two things that were on my mind today. Yesterday I was simply out of curiosity browsing the Snily tag (haha, somebody mentioned that it could otherwise only be called "Lilrus" and I have laughed about it ever since!! 😂) on Pinterest because I thought the fanart might be beautiful (I exclusively look at fanart now since I can't watch anything associated with the movies at the moment, it's somewhat sad but also beautiful what people are able to draw and write, it's absolutely lovely! 💚) .

So anyways, I would just once love to be able to look at fanart and watch a little fan video or something without having to read through 500 people hating and congratulating each other on their disgusting and cruel takes on Snape and also Snily. It's so extreme, that is not healthy behaviour.

And secondly just a little recommendation, I constantly see people making your favourite character mean specific things and with Snape it's almost exclusively "daddy issues". I assume that's mostly referring to the movies.

Anyways, in my case you would even be correct with that assumption but I also have friends who really like him and they have a very good relationship with their father. And the other way around some friends who have a really traumatic relationship with their father and don't like Snape at all. So 1) I don't think it is really a correct assumption even though it has a certain amount of hits to it apparently. And 2) I feel like this is usually said to shame people, which is not very nice because we are not at fault for our trauma and I don't think shaming someone who has pain through other people's actions is a kind or helpful thing to do.

Personally I can only own this feeling even though it makes me very sad to be seen in such a hurtful way. But what I would like to recommend to others is to not let yourselves be defined by those awful assumptions of other people. Move beyond, because there's more! I have found that when I stop believing that my favourite characters are just a matter of childhood experiences, I can actually find out interesting things about myself. I have found out many very intriguing clues about my psyche as a reflection of my choices in fiction (also in relation to Snape, in the context of this post). Don't narrow yourselves down to people's unreflected interpretations of you. You are so vast and so much more that you can find out A LOT about your own mystery when you dare moving beyond people's labels. 😀👍🏻 Just an idea of what we can try if we're curious. 😊
