I knew about Dirty Pair episode 7 and how it was really progressive for its time, but even having seen screenshots, it was even better than I expected. So much fun. (My full thoughts on it are below the cut, for spoilers; the episode can be viewed for free legally on RetroCrush along with the rest of the series).

I knew that the episode was about Kei and Yuri (the protagonists) helping the heir to a rich family elope with his true love Joanca, a trans woman, against the will of his father. Some fun details I didn't know:

His father tried to marry him off to several women at once because he thought that was the only way to stop his heart from "wandering" (from the one he truly loved) (this was just funny).

She got out a gun and pretended she was going to start shooting people in order to get away with him; it was so cool.

I think her surname is meant to be Lilith, though the subs say Lilis.

Kei immediately calls the picture she's shown of the groom ugly (not knowing who it is), and the "kidnapper" (bride) beautiful (again, not knowing anything).

I probably did see this and just forgot about it, but they really said that when this series is set (the future) as many as one in ten people is trans. Powerful.

This is the first time Kei and Yuri ever went against orders on purpose.
