#like....yes. the obvious and intentional parallel is angeline#but artemis....artemis is the one who begins living in funeral wear as an expression of grief for a father who wasn't coming home.#he's stuck in this limbo of perma-childhood. forced into a horrible mocking parody of the of adult he was supposed to grow into#he wears nothing else. thinks of nothing else. CNN constantly blaring. surrounded by the old possessions of his father#yet he can never become him!!!! because he's a child.#& yet even when he DOES return artemis cannot leave this stasis. he never leaves his suits behind. colfer does not let him leave childhood#i lied. this was not coherent. society if i'd read enough theory to back this up#artemis fowl
