Lmao well..... I think you saw my previous ask 😂😭 Any theory that says Asch or Lorelei or some weird Luke-Asch personality hybrid or anyone else people come up with that isn't just Luke who comes back at the end. It's gotta be Luke; the narrative just falls apart if it isn't. The other day when I was answering the previous ask looking for your "theory" post again I saw the take (put very simply here) that Abyss is a tragedy, Luke's character is a tragic one, so it makes sense that he ultimately dies and stays dead, and I'm just like.... how?? Genuinely I don't understand how his character arc can possibly be read as that his entire struggle to change and for life was just completely futile in the end and that there was no meaning to any of it all, that's such a downer ending for what is ultimately, despite how much sad shit happens in it, a hopeful story 😭😭😭 (one of the main themes is LITERALLY CALLED MEANING OF BIRTH).

Even putting that aside though, I just feel like it makes even less sense for Asch to come back?? Like, his character arc finished when he died. The whole point is that he remained stagnant the whole game and his tragedy is that he dies that way, while Luke was willing and able to change!! What purpose would it serve narratively to bring him back after his very sad yet satisfying conclusion?? Again, by all means, it makes for juicy AUs, but as canon.... there's no way.

💛: What is a popular ship you just can’t get behind, and why?

....I feel like I'm putting myself in danger answering this when it's coming from you 😂😭 But, well, I'm really not that interested in Luke/Tear lol. By no means do I hate it though, I just don't have any strong feelings towards it either way, and honestly part of that is just because I'm not really a shipper in general lol and nothing to do with them specifically. A lot of people who don't ship it say it's because they see Tear as more of a sister figure to Luke because that's how the game initially presents her as (and with the "big sister" title or whatever it's called), but idk... I honestly can't decide what I see her as to him. They just feel like very close friends to me by the end of the game, I guess, and although I like some of their touching scenes, I never really felt the chemistry between them. I guess it's just hard for me to imagine Luke in a relationship with everything he's going through during the game, and also Tear is pretty bland to me herself so that doesn't help. 😭 I know her Japanese voice is very different from her English one and her English one gets some flak, so maybe that's to blame ugh; maybe if I listened to her in Japanese sometime I would become more endeared to her.

...If I had to pick another one that isn't just the first answer again lol, though this isn't exactly super unpopular, but Abyss is the best game in the Tales series, by a wide, wide margin. Not only do I believe it to be the best Tales game, but one of the best games of all time period, and one of the best stories of all time. Yes, I said what I said, fight me. And it has absolutely nothing to do with nostalgia; I played Abyss on my 3DS around 2014-2015, probably? in my early 20s, so I don't have any special childhood memories of it, nor was it even my first Tales game (Graces holds a special place in my heart for that). I just... played it, and it left such an incredible impact on me that has yet to be beaten by nearly any other media I've ever experienced. I don't know what it is about it that makes it so powerful, but it's true. Don't get me wrong, plenty of other stories have come very close to making me feel the same way..... but none of them have ever quite reached Abyss level.

So yeah, a lot of people agree Abyss is good.... but I still believe that most don't recognize it for the masterpiece it truly is.

💕: What is an unpopular ship that you like?

Like I said, I'm really not a shipper lol, but I'm really fond of Guy/Natalia? I just love their scenes together, how respectful and gentlemanly he is towards her, and how her growth is most strongly shown in plenty of her interactions with him; it's so lovely to see. 🥹 and I think about their time spent together post-Eldrant and before the epilogue, them helping each other grieve.... it destroys me so good :' ) they're very sweet together.

I have the day off today so I'll probably have time for a couple more episodes than I usually watch. While it's tempting to cram in all 6 and finish it I probably won't do that but we'll see how it goes.

I am having a lot of feelings about these literal children having to raise themselves. I know shit like this happens a lot in the sports and idol industries and it makes me so sad. I know Ye Xiu got kicked out but where are Mucheng and Muqiu's family?

Also, yesterday @hphaeton pointed out that the voice actor dubbing Ye Xiu is the same person who dubbed Cheng Yi in Love and Redemption. It's so obvious now I know. I can't believe I didn't spot it before. He has a very nice voice.

Fire Emblem Engage 15 - 17

Spoilers for FE Engage 15+. Though, this game is way better at gameplay than it is with story, but the characters are all likable so I'm good.

I really appreciate how different all the nations and their castles and interiors look in this game. I adore Three Houses, but one thing I really wish they did was have more variety in the weather, landscapes, etc . . . This game nailed it.

Solm, a desert country, having waterfalls in their palace is such a good touch. Not only does it show that water would be valued in a place like this, but it's also flaunting the royal family's wealth and power, like a palace should.

I'm not sure I'll ever warm up to Veyle. She's a walking moe cliche. Mind control. Innocent cute loli type otherwise. But, hey, I didn't like Hortensia at one point but her VA sold me in the last chapter.

Does anyone else find it a bit funny that we're a dragon worshipped as a god with influence over the land and this is a good thing. It's like a giant middle finger to those people who tried to rewrite the entire history of the franchise around a certain character's not-so-great view of dragons.

Also worth noting that Brodia invading Elusia is seen as a universal bad and something Diamant's supports resolve around stopping. Just putting that out there.

Ivy/Diamant feels cannon to me. It makes too much sense.

Kagetsu is so awkward. I love him.

I feel like I just took half of my units and got them with level 5 with Byleth. Mentorship is too good not to stick on a few people, and it's cheap too.

I love how literally no one takes Hortensia seriously. It makes an otherwise grating character kind of cute.

Holy shit, Merrin laid it on thick for Chloe. Honestly, don't blame her. But she is not subtle, gave Chloe flowers, called her beautiful, then asked her to dinner. Homegirl's even willing to try and stomach Chloe's . . . uh "food" choices. And Chloe thinks Merrin is like a cool knight out of a fairy tale. 100% new ship happening.

So far I like AlearxAlfred, IvyxDiamant, CelinexAlcryst, and now ChloexMerrin.

Alfred and Boucheron's support went exactly like I imagined it would. Poor dude. Alfred would lose his mind meeting Dimitri, someone who's abnormally strong despite not looking like a hulk, but is still shredded.

Alfred is probably the only person in the world who would've be offended or weirded out when someone asked to lick the flowers he's wearing and also offer to get licked later. Otherwise, Bunet is weird.

Seadall is VERY hot. He's like Sothe and Navarre had a baby. Or like Navarre put Sothe's clothes on.

F!Alear confronting Veyle again had really good voice acting. As long as we ignore that everyone just stood around instead of attacking her. Gratned, it was un-brainwashed Veyle who wasn't attacking so I'll let it go. Maybe.

Doing Ike's prologue is making me feel things. The nostalgia is real.

I love so, so much that one of Byleth's canned dialogue in Somniel is "Nothing to report!" and his paralogue is the Holy Tomb. And most of his dialogue was about Rhea, lol.

Anyone else think it's dumb that in Classic your units can die in the ring paralogues? It's like, oh bummer, Lyn/Corrin/etc just killed my healer who's the little sister of my mage, but our bonds are now stronger!

It feels extra sad seeing Firene get attacked. It's such a peaceful kingdom. It's nice to see Alfred back in the spotlight though. His lines about how these are just farmers and not soldiers reminds me a lot of Dimitri after Lonato.

I love how often the villains chit-chat with the heroes before and after battles, but like they never attack or threaten each other.

so far,,, rantas plan could be worse?? he's not necessarily WRONG in countering bad news with good news, and there's definitely worse ways to handle it than by a doctors appointment to check on y/ns health. but i.... can not see it going well. these two are not going to be able to get along in extended quarters- especially ALONE in a CAR- without something going horribly wrong.

also, for a very brief moment while reading my eyes jumped over a paragraph and i interpreted y/n's internal dialogue worried about her health as NAOYA'S internal dialogue being worried, and was so pleasantly surprised. like "aw. he's concerned for her health- oh. nope. misread that. he's the same as always." i'm too charitable to the man to even believe it for a moment smh.

and-- i've just been wondering, are we gonna see the last two of naoya's brothers eventually? i remember them being mentioned a good few chapters ago, but we've not had the chance to meet them yet. any plans for them down the line?

Let’s start with the elephant in the room: Naoaki and Y/N lol, I definitely think if anyone saw that they would’ve been like “oh no, it’s official” (Ranta probably thought so back then, in that unfortunate night… lol NAOYA IS IN DENIAL)

However, I think the “dating” part is more official in Naoaki’s mind than in Y/N’s as of right now. She probably wants to be a bit more… reciprocal to his advances, but she’s really shy 🤣 (as well as knowing this isn’t the right place or time to do so) yet, she tries what she can. Writing them together feels almost wrong tbh, like I’m walking deeper into a labyrinth I know I’ll have trouble getting out of. But what is a good story without risks?! Besides, as you stated, good for her. I want Naoya to suffer, and I did promise to do so…

From there, Junko. Omg I totally get what you mean, but I just… I just can’t feel anything but sadness and pity for her 😭 The fact that she’s more likely than not, acting out on her husband’s weird requests (if not fantasies) is so sickening to me. Like isn’t Ogi man enough to do so himself!? GET AWAY FROM HER. I swear to god… He’s always blaming others for his misfortune, well let me tell you sir, it’s already been stated that you’re weak af lmao. Mai and Maki had nothing to do with you not being the clan leader 🤡

AND THE NEW SHIP hahahahahha I’ll never get tired of saying this, Hitomi and Naohiko was like a surprise to me as well!! It just flashed before my eyes… I was like… yes… them… together… but how? It’s one of those things I didn’t have planned when writing down the plotline, but I’m sure it’ll develop down the road :> I can’t wait to see where the characters take me 🤭🤭 (Him being completely, or somewhat lenient towards Hitomi is… ah, delightful)

Now, Ranta’s plan. I think his plan was more focused on bringing Naoya and Y/N together than anything else, I mean sure, he also cares for his friend and doesn’t want to make his relationship with his father any worse, but he’s at the point where he’s like “well, his marriage is still salvageable!” compared to Naobito’s so… but still, he really miscalculated Y/N if he thinks she’s going to be all understanding of Naoya out of the sudden…

Hahahah I’m sorry for the misunderstanding 😭 it’s probably a consequence of being tormented for so long regarding Naoya and his relationship with Y/N, that we’re out here clinging to the crumbs of his redemption… I wish to say more but I can’t without spoiling the story so… asgkasghkjaghjkas I can’t wait to show you what happens in the future. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised :>

And finally, regarding the rest of the siblings… as of right now, I do not have anything planned for them. I think that with the amount of side characters I’m working on now is more than enough (I still have one more —major, I think— character to introduce 👀) however, considering how the Hitomi and Naohiko thing happened completely out of the blue… who knows hehe. But as of right now, they’re super busy with doing Naoya’s work while he’s suspended so I don’t see them hanging around the estate. Maybe we’ll see them here and there, small interactions in a way, in the future!

Still, if there’s something you wish to know more about them, don’t hesitate to let me know! I think it’d be interesting to write their perspective on the whole Naoaki/Naoya/Y/N thing going on 😂

im someone who is kink critical and ""antiship"" and i think theyre similar discussions so it is strange how ppl don't seem to compare them to each other all that often, but i think despite my deep discomfort and "disagreement" (if that's even how u'd put it) with kinks like cnc and fauxcest and the pro-est of proshippers it muddies the water to accuse them of being predators and is kinda messed up. i think that bc ppl with problematic kinks and ships are such a wide group of people you can't possibly accurately characterize them all as predators based on their interests. some ppl use it to cope with trauma, some ppl are really misguided anti-censorship types, or just aggressively "sex-positive". sexuality is also shaped by patriarchy so it's no wonder some gender-marginalized ppl find these things attractive. whether or not it's ideal for the movement is a different matter than whether or not someone is literally a predator for it. i don't blame anyone for feeling uncomfortable with these things or choosing not to associate with proshippers or ppl w problematic kinks, especially if they're minors, but to make the jump to all these ppl = predators is.. really misguided. it can quickly become rather conservative

i think it can become conservative in the same manner as like, laws against public sex. some ppl are literally arguing that public sex is cool and i. would not say that, but ppl have a point when they say these laws have been weaponized against queer ppl doing pda and existing bc our existence and love is inherently sexualized. similarly, there's panics about kink at pride and ppl in kink gear around kids. it's difficult to estimate what the actual harm of these things is. theoretically, is it a violation of consent to wear kink gear? if so, is it a violation to be sexually provocative in dress? most ppl would agree that cleavage and short skirts or dresses r pretty normal and harmless nowadays, but kink gear isn't cos its inherently seen as part of a sexual act the public is not consenting to. and i'm not like, an expert, but afaik ppl in kink gear are not literally getting off or having sex in public just because they're dressed like that. 😭 and to make things even more mentally challenging, if someone was getting off on something and it wasn't you, didn't affect you, and you didn't know, would it matter? a lot of ppl would jump to say yes but it's hard for me to believe that someone putting like. a vibrating egg toy in their partner and playing around with it in public is literally sexual harassment.

point is, our perception of things is tied up in what's the norm rather than an objective evaluation of harm. and it is difficult to objectively evaluate harm bc what harms us is tied to norms that should or shouldn't be. for ex., a guy w a penis flashing a woman is bad. it's a violation of her consent as penises are sexualized and it's meant as something degrading. but a woman flashing ppl w boobs is meant as a treat rather than something threatening. this is because of the meanings we attach to body parts bc of patriarchy and intent. this isn't to say that a guy flashing a woman isn't sexual harassment (it is) but that it's sexual harassment bc of how society is. if we got to a society where nudity was more desexualized (as would. probably be healthy), and a less sexist society, a penis in the wind would not be as much of an issue. the same could be said about kink gear. it feels like some ppl lose the plot around sexual liberation and desexualizing the body bc they dont like what theyre seeing personally. whether thats ppl in kink gear or women w saggy boobs suntanning. like, ppl may feel harmed seeing someone in kink attire similarly to how ppl may feel harmed seeing gay ppl kissing. but should that be their problem, or is it yours? it can be difficult to assess based off of feelings of violation.

i got very far from what the initial post was about but i hope you know what i'm talking about!!

also: i disagree with raceplay but i think a crucial diff between raceplay and cnc/fauxcest is that raceplay usually entails a white person enacting sexualized racism on a poc. whereas cnc/fauxcest doesn't have to include cis men; it's gender-marginalized ppl inflicting patriatchal fantasies onto each other, sometimes to cope with trauma or due to an internalization of patriarchal sexualization. now i may not think that's good for them necessarily, but it's different than a person in a position of power doing so (like white ppl r in raceplay). there was a really good post about it which i cannot find where txttletale pointed out the people getting mad at transfem people about kinks and proshipping seem to assume they could not be victims of misogynistic violence, marking them as separate from "real" victims. i think that's worth considering

One Pound Gospel - Episode 1

Omg, this was so fun! I actually found it more enjoyable than both the manga and the OVA (so far anyways). They just packed so much into one episode and the editing style was so fast paced that it felt really exciting. The music and acting was also really great and there was way more background detail to take in. The experience of watching the fighting was improved too because it was more "real" (more sweat and blood) and easier to follow. It's only episode one, so let me dial my praises back a bit until I watch the whole show lol...

Notes:

My stamina for hour long shows sucks lol. I've spent most of my life watching 20 minute anime which has damaged my attention span. At one point I thought I was almost done and I was only 38 minutes in 😭 That's not saying anything about the show, this is just a me problem.

I'm very new to dramas. In fact, I don't think I've ever watched an entire drama before (unless you count that weird 009-1 live action I watched). I got nothing against them, I just have too much other stuff taking up my time.

Lots of bad hair in this lol. I also noticed Kosaku was doing the "t-shirt over a long sleeve shirt" thing. Vintage 2008.

Boxing is so unappealing to me irl. It's one of those sports I might watch once just to say I did and then never again. That being said, I think the boxing/training scenes were done very well in this.

They replaced Kosaku's male coach with a female one! I actually really like this change. The manga was a total sausage fest and this new character seems to have a really fun dynamic with the rest of the cast. I liked her "badass tomboy" backstory haha

The random embellishments they added (some minor characters) were good. The manga's plot was probably way too basic for an hour long show and the additions they're making make Kosaku/Angela's world feel more fleshed out.

Food glorious food! I loved all of the food shots. Some looked yummier than others...(I've never tried oden but the oden they showed looked very...grey/beige).

Comedy was on point, I chuckled a couple of times (already more than I can say for the manga!) The actors have good timing.

I was low key impressed with the special effects. The scene with the basketballs flying towards Kosaku and the scene where Kosaku and Angela meet and things go all magical were standouts.

Kosaku gets so desperate for water that he tries to drink rain water...how does this work again? How do boxers-in-training not drop dead if they can't drink water? Can they drink other liquids (although most liquids have water in them)?

That katsu beef bowl looked simultaneously disgusting and amazing.

Just like the OVA, they switched up the plot to be more dramatic. We see Angela/Kosaku's meet cute again and it's slightly different from the OVA. It seems like Kosaku's Christianity is less prominent? (So far anyways). Like I'm pretty sure he wore a cross in the manga.

Didn't expect to see a title screen halfway through the episode. Is that common with dramas?

They switched things up at the convent. Mother Abbess is the nice, easy going one now and "Sister Millie" is the strict one. Love the casting for all of the nuns. They look iconic.

The scene with the kids trying to feed Kosaku was so tense lol. I don't think anyone could have blamed him for giving in to temptation in that scene! (The kids were really cute. And such talented chefs!)

Sister Angela suddenly caring VERY MUCH about Kosaku's career felt strange, but it felt strange in the manga too so...good adaptation?

That was funny that the coach also had a similar "meet cute" with Angela as Kosaku 😂 I want to see the crack ship fanfic

I feel like they aged up Onimaru. It was cool seeing an older character. His story was really touching, way more here than in the manga, in fact lol. They took away the pregnancy plot line which had horribly sexist dialogue and replaced it with Onimaru wanting to impress his (elementary aged) son. It was actually hard watching him lose one last time 😭

Wtf was Onimaru wearing in his intro scene? I think it was supposed to be a kind of kooky outfit, but no one acknowledged it so I was like "???"

I don't get why people put characters into a box, like he's a villain so that's all he's gonna be. Dealing with anti-heroes, we need to understand that they are morally grey first and that adds a lot of complexity to how they operate.

Now as much as it's difficult to comprehend, none of these characters are real. These characters are on a page and the beauty about that is, their story can be changed however we wish like.

People acting like Namor is irredeemable and making others feel bad for shipping him with Shuri is absolute bollocks lol. I've seen so many ships that are even more problematic and yet people cherish them.

This may not be kind but having been on the other end of dealing with antis, most of them talk about toxicity and all that stuff as though people have not dealt with it in real life. The beauty of these characters is that we don't have to project people we know in real life onto them.

They facilitate ✨escapism✨ and make life a bit more bearable.

So my advise to you is *ahem* build those fake scenarios, enjoy Namor x Shuri, think of them going on dates, anything that makes you happy. That's the point of films and the reason they get made.

The Talokans and Wakanda are two kingdoms, we're not just dealing with two individuals. And in war, the inevitable tends to happen. So many real life scenarios where kings would kill the 'father' and then marry the princess when they conquer a land. Now if you think about it and replay those scenes it's quite clear how everything happens. Ramonda could have easily swum up to the surface and saved her life, but her CHOICE was to go back for Riri.

And what do we expect Namor to do? Put yourself in his shoes and see that he's doing it to save the secret of Talokan. He has no reason to trust these people, but you see him trying to build that through Shuri first. So it's a complicated turn of events. It's as it is, war between two kingdoms. In a scene like that, Namor is a king, Ramonda is a queen, Shuri is a princess. It's political, it's business.

As he hovers there, he can actually conquer the rest of Wakanda by killing Shuri to take the throne. But he doesn't. He's shifted the tide, as a king would do for his country and people, and put Shuri in that spot of being queen because he needs to be reassured of Talokan's secret. He's dealing it like how he would have dealt it because "he was blinded by hope" before.

So that whole bit, you can't actually blame anyone. Each one's doing it for a purpose. If we follow the antis logic, Bucky and the avengers were involved indirectly with regards to the death of his father. Then he should have never been a part of the avengers or helped bucky. He should have held onto that grudge.

To resolve this confusion, I keep going back to Killmonger's appearance. He starts off with the same sentence that Namor tells Shuri. "It's never about the how but the WHY?", killmonger should have been the first to be Namor's fan boy. But he's quoting that like he's a mirror, that Shuri is having those thoughts in her head focusing on the "Why" for her vengeance. He then could have approved of Namor's actions by saying that he killed her or that Shuri's family deserved it for having murdered his father. But instead, there a clear point being made that Ramonda sacrificed her life as a QUEEN not as a mother, to save another life.

So I interpret the whole thing differently but ultimately I would say Ramonda's death was an indirect loss because of the Talokan and Wakandan conflict. Yeah Namor will have to work his way back and realize what he had done on a personal level but I don't think he will apologize for it in a politically sense. He did what he had to, to keep his people safe. And diving into why he's like that will need another post lol.

But I don't get people calling him all those stuff. It hurts, I've been there. I literally am staying off til tok and other platforms because I don't want to hear about it hahaha.

Ps- so many books have 19 years old girls falling in love with a 2000 year old demi god or fae or eleven king. Shuri is 25 in this movie and is well capable to make her decisions as an individual. Namor is a mutant technically. Sooooooo age gap doesn't make sense here 🤣🙄

What do you think about Lucien and Feyre's relationship? Reading the books I thought they were good friends and Lucien helped her many times and even got whipped for it, he went to rescue her too when Rhysand "kidnapped" her and he seemed worried. When he realized the truth, he was very affected and helped the IC in return. I am surprised to see many Feyre stans hating Lucien when he actually helped her and the IC many times, comforted Feyre and has been there for her since book 1. Feyre also used him, read his mind, lied to him, mocked the BoE and is currently manipulating him to work for the IC. She's no saint either and that's fine. They are both complex characters and that's why I love them, what confuses me is all the hate people throw at Lucien, like the man made mistakes but all the characters in ACOTAR have fucked up at some point. Do you think that maybe it has more to do with the fact that he is/was Tamlin's friend (and the fact that people still blame Tamlin and Lucien instead of Ianthe for telling Hybern about Nesta and Elain)?

It makes me sad because there was so much potential for them in acotar. Lucien was probably the first real friend that Feyre ever had. She certainly was never friends with Nesta or Elain, and when did she get an opportunity to interact with anyone else? Feyre and Lucien butted heads at first but eventually came to an understanding. It got to the point where Amarantha knew that she could use Lucien against Feyre! That was how close they had gotten. And Feyre helped him, leading to one of the only (maybe the only?) cameos from LoA we've had.

It's frustrating because Feyre has gotten her HEA. She went through hell and came out better for it, and it's not like she didn't earn it. She absolutely did. But I feel like she should have more sympathy for someone who has been going through hell for much longer and still hasn't found the same, especially when that someone went through some of the very same trials, worried for Tamlin's safety together, felt themselves powerless in the face of Amarantha.

How in the world did it lead to this, where Feyre thinks it's okay to use Lucien's mating bond against him, and to make fun of him?

I think it probably is the Tamlin thing. I know a lot of people can't forgive Lucien for trying to get Feyre back, despite the misapprehensions he was laboring under. I don't blame people for being frustrated that he tried to do that.

I like both of them, Lucien and Feyre, for very different reasons. It's like watching two of your friends fight and you know that they will get along eventually, but in the meantime they just won't get over their shit 😭

People do love to blame Lucien for the Elain and Nesta kidnapping thing, but honestly that just reads to me as intellectually dishonest and more about ships than what actually happened in the book. It's clear that not only did Lucien and Tamlin tell the King of Hybern no, but they had zero idea what Ianthe had done and were horrified when they brought the sisters out. Ianthe is the actual asshole in that situation. It's not hard to put that responsibility where it belongs. Feyre is the one who told Ianthe all about Nesta and Feyre, but no one is out here blaming her. So yeah. To me that's just about ships and coming up with an excuse not to ship something, which isn't really necessary anyway. Just like the thing or don't. I mean... why not blame Lucien for literally everything that Hybern did? Oh, because Hybern's actions are his own? Hm. (Sorry this just annoys me 😂)

Your main problem in my opinion is that you don't know how to separate tkk from their shippers. Jungkook and Tae are not to blame for how their shippers behave. And after watching it I don't need to know what their shippers think about it. I learned to unfollow accounts that just keep complaining and quoting tweets from them, I mute dozens of words related to them on Twitter, and I block or delete asks that come to me about them unless it's something extremely serious. And I understood that what they say doesn't really matter and doesn't really influence anything. And that has helped me.

That being said, I get that people would have a problem with the ship since Namor killed her mom. I don't blame you for it.

I just think there are a lot of way to look at it, writing AUs where Ramonda didn't die, considering them as Lovers-to-Enemies (like I do) or focusing on the scenes they had together in the movie.

I will never blame anyone for not shipping them or being bothered by the ship given the circumstances but I still think the ship has a lot of potential, and that they shared very beautiful scenes.

I also respect that what Namor did is a dealbreaker for people. It's perfectly understandable. For me it's not that much of a big deal, either you ship it or you don't, it's ok. So for Kurt, we know he's a romantic at heart, has been planning his wedding since he knew what weddings were. I think marriage remains important to him, but as he grows up the actually wedding and the grandness around marriage is less important, and it's more than he just values that commitment between two people. And there's even canon evidence for this, because is season 6 he marries Blaine without planning and at someone else's wedding in a barn; it's not about the event itself, it's about what it means.

As for Sebastian... cocky teenage Bas that we know "doesn't believe in marriage" imo. He thinks it's all for show or social status or so it looks like you're monogamous so people don't judge you for sleeping around. He's really cynical about it. I think he grows out of it a little, and by the time he's in college he still doesn't believe in it for himself but he's softened to the idea for other people.

Now, this is really important. Part of the not believing in it for himself is because he just doesn't feel the need to have a commitment like that formalized. But another, not insignificant part, is because he has a hard time imagining someone else seeing him as marriage material and actually wanting that with him. And he has commitment issues on top of that.

It's a point of contention when Kurtbastian get together (not right away, of course, but it comes up eventually). Kurt always thought Sebastian was kind of just saying that, he didn't realize he really believed it. And Bas is pretty firm that he never wants to get married.

It's a hard pill for Kurt to swallow, but he does. Because he loves Sebastian. And he realizes that part of the reason it was so important to him is because he's always been scared of people leaving (and you really can't blame him, given his history) and the idea of marriage just made him feel a little more secure. But they've been together for years and have had the messiest of fights yet they still come back stronger every single time. And he realizes that just because Sebastian won't marry him, it doesn't make them any less committed to each other.

When I started writing this, I was going to end by saying that eventually Bas proposes anyway, it's a complete surprise, because he's realized it's important to Kurt and that Kurt wants it because he wants him. But honestly... I'm torn because part of me kind of loves the idea of them just never getting officially married. Or maybe they just get married for the tax benefits. But regardless, they refer to each other as husband.

This is so not what you asked me wow oops. But I guess I just feel like by the time they would be getting married, if they did, they'd both be at a point where it... kind of wouldn't matter? They'd already be committed to each other, nothing would change. They wouldn't feel a need to prove it to anyone.

Unless we're talking famous!Kurtbastian. I think if they were famous they'd throw the most extravagant wedding imaginable and film it just to piss off all the homophobes. And now I really, really want to see that wedding.

As you said, they are possessive and protective of each other [plus the jealousy] and those personality traits are part of who they are. In a world where they are less isolated and less distrustful, yes, those traits could be softened but they would still be very present, and they would still grow up with the idea of the Lannisters being superiors, or otherwise it wouldn't be Jaime and Cersei anymore, or totally different characters and relationship then. And as you also mentioned they have been with others, but it's so obvious they didn't enjoy it. For Cersei, those encounters were never for pleasure, she wasn't seeking that, and I'm on the side where I believe she doesn't actually enjoy sex, she hates it, unless it's with Jaime. The contrast between her reactions with Jaime and her reactions with other men when it comes to this is evident. As for Jaime... the look on his face afterward said pretty much everything as well. 😐 Plus, except for that time, when he was in a terrible psychological state and drunk, he is faithful by nature. The only way I could see it happening would be in an AU where they are separated at birth / not raised together / away from the Lannister's ideology or a crack fic which... would ask to redefine their characters a lot imo. So we come back to that point; would it still be them, our Jaime and Cersei?

And I might be biased, because I'm not the kind who multi-ship and also because of their characters and it's like THE OTP of the OTP for me but, I really can't picture them with anyone else 😭 I don't find the appeal here lmao
