if your first answer to any computer problem that isn't explicitly "i want to change my computer's operating system" is switch to linux i'm killing you. sorry
We need to lay more blame for "Kids don't know how computers work" at the feet of the people responsible: Google.
Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.
Tech literacy didn't mysteriously vanish, it was fucking murdered for profit.
#tech equivalent to telling someone who's looking for umbrellas to move to arizona#there are lots of great things about arizona! people thrive in arizona!#but it's also not a bandaid fix for everything#like yes it doesn't rain in arizona#but also moving to a different state is generally not a helpful answer to anything except 'i want to move to a different state!'#although in this situation it's more like the question is#'why don't these children who have never been to a store alone before know how to buy an umbrella'#and this guy offered a solution to a problem that literally cannot be fixed by moving to arizona#sorry dude the kids wouldn't know how to buy umbrellas whether they grew up in arizona or washington state#this metaphor is getting out of hand

✨️A JASPER X OC FIC✨️
A Cowboy's Dream
Character info:
Name: Eliana (el-e-anna) Smith
Nicknames: Eli (El-e), Ana, Silly, Star Girl
Insults: Accident, Freak, Weirdo, r-slur
Age: 17
Birthday: April 6th
Blood type: O-
Mental illness/disorder: Autism
Sexuality: Omnisexual
Gender: Female she/her
Backstory: Eliana was born in with a semi-normal family. She had a father, Michael, and a mother, Terra. When Eli had turned about 6 months old when Michael realized he was gay and wanted a divorce. Terra went along with it, as she was a closeted lesbian. She couldn't stand being in a marriage with a man, so once the divorce was finalized, Michael and Terra stayed friends but went to live on their lives. Terra kept Eliana, as Michael wasn't sure that traveling in a van would be safe for a 6 month old, and met her later wife -Vanessa- when Ana was 3. They got married on Eli's birthday, with her permission of course, and have given Eliana the world and more that a girl could ask for while living in Forks, Washington. Michael comes to visit Eliana for special days just whenever she wants to see him because Terra and Vanessa decided that it'd be good for her to have connection to her father, despite calling him "Uncle Mike." Eliana was diagnosed with autism at 7 years old after she had a meltdown about having to sleep on silk sheets in a hotel that the 3 women were staying at for a trip.
She's lived in Forks her entire life and doesn't mind the quietness or rain because at night, when the rain clears, she see the stars and often draws pictures out whatever shape(s) she sees in them.
START NOTE: IM AUTISTIC AND CAN RECLAIM THE R SLUR. I WILL AVOID USING IT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE SO IT MAY ONLY POP UP 1 OR 2 TIMES. If people are uncomfortable, I'll remove the slur from the story entirely <3
First Meeting
"Do I not look Italian-?" Eli asked, laughing as Mike was in shock learning the autistic member of the group was Italian.
"No, you look white-!! Like, white white." Mike protested as Eliana walked with Bella to her truck.
"Bye bye, Mikey~!" She called as Bella shook her head and ruffled Eliana's dual colored hair.
"So, I'm guessing you and Mikey are close?" Bella questioned as Eliana moved closer to her to avoid bumping into the Cullens.
"Eehhhh, if you wanna call teasing each other like siblings close because you're both only children then yes...? Besides, we grew up neighbors, so we see each other every day and let me tell you- being surrounded by loud neurotypicals hurts like hell."
"Really?" Bella looked up at Eliana as the smaller female sat on the hood of the car. "I thought they were ok- a bit better than the people back in Arizona."
"Ehhh, depends on the person. Since I'm autistic, and I don't speak for every autistic person, I have sensory issues meaning I can't handle super loud crowds or friend groups. But they were my only friends, so I sucked it up as best as I could and dealt with it. You, however, aren't autistic and don't really mix with the loud crowd and tend to avoid them as much as possible," Eliana explained pulling a marker out of her patch-filled messenger bag and started to draw stars along her left arm.
"Oh.. that makes sense, yeah," Bella replied after a moment, watching Eliana draw on herself. Throughout the day, Bella noted that Eli would do this whenever a certain blonde was around. According to Jessica, Eliana has had a thing for one of the mysterious Cullens- Jasper. Yet, he was seemingly taken by Alice. It hurt Eliana, so she took to drawing on herself to avoiding staring at him and causing drama.
Yet, every so often, Jasper would catch himself staring at her and he looked away, attempting, and failing, to not be caught.
The reason why the pair did this was because Jasper saved her life exactly 3 years ago today.
"Are you serious dude? The Freak?" A student inquired, laughing his ass off as Eli walked passed, clutching her books and not noticing the 5 squares of toilet paper stuck to the bottom of her shirt.
"Yeah! I mean, besides, it's not like anyone's going to stand up for the retard and won't it be awesome to humiliate it in front of the whole school?" The student's friend spoke up, grinning and seeing Eliana walk to class faster to avoid being seen crying out of distress.
Later that day, Eli had forgotten all about the worry of being humiliated. She felt safe and at peace. Besides, she had gotten to talk to one of her more mysterious classmates, Rosalie, today and she promised to help Eli get a good hair-do that would make her feel happy.
Life felt perfect and completely worry-free... until one of her bullies kicked her in the back and caused her to trip down the stairs of the building and fall into the wet pavement.
She groaned, rolling onto her side and hugging her ribs as blood ran down her face from her nose and her head spun in dizziness. She was in so much pain that she didn't process a car come barreling down to her until she heard a large crash and a familiar voice yell.
Two sets of hands pulled her up, eliciting a cry of pain from the younger as pressure was put onto her right foot. One of the 'strangers' whom had helped her up, scooped her up bridal style as she began to fall in and out of consciousness.
After a few hours had gone by, Eliana woke up, groaning.
"Ah, I see you're awake, Eliana. You gave us a scare there," a gentle and friendly voice said earning a tiny smile from the teen.
"Hi, Dr. Carlisle..." She groaned out, putting a hand to her head and flinching in the process.
"Hi, dear," he greeted, sympathetically and gently running his hand through her long bright blonde hair. The doctor cared deeply for her and she loved him like he was her dad. "Can you tell me what happened this time?"
"I- uhmmm... I don't think I remember a lot of it..." She told him, honestly and shrugging a tad. Carlisle merely smiled reassuringly.
"It's alright, you don't have to try and remember all of it now, but would you be able to give me a gist of what happened?" He questioned, sitting in one of the rolly stools while checking her heartbeat.
"Uhmm... I think I tripped down the stairs... and then hit my head really hard, but I don't remember anything after that," She told him, trying to focus on the light he was using to check her eyes.
"You tripped? Eli... these injuries don't typically come from tripping down the stairs- accident prone or not," Carlisle started, looking at her and she moved her gaze to her hands. "Are you sure someone didn't kick you down the stairs or anything?"
Eliana tensed and stayed quiet. She didn't want the senior to get in trouble, but her silence did confirm that someone did kick her down the stairs.
"Eli..? Come on, you can't stay quiet for this, honey. Jasper and Rosalie already told Chief Swan everything that they know and he's waiting to talk to you downstairs, as he's wanting to know if your mothers will press charges against whomever hurt you and, apparently, tried to run you over."
"He's gonna kill me if I say anything though..." Eli buried her face into her knee that she could move and groaned audibly.
"But he also could be behind bars. Freedom from him, Eliana, wouldn't that be nice?" Ana paused for a moment and nodded a bit, earning a kind smile from Carlisle.
However, before Carlisle could continue, one of the Cullens entered the room with Eliana's stuff. This one must've been Jasper, due to the fancy shirt he wore and his wavy/curly blonde locks were pushed out of his face that as Rosalie had described.
"Ah, Jasper, here with Eliana's things. Thank you, son," He said as Jasper sat her bag by her shoes and nodded, then went to leave, not making eye contact with either.
"Hey, Jasper-?.. uhm... Thanks.. to you and the other person who helped," Eliana called. Jasper had froze at the door when she called his name. He'd never heard it said so... kindly and softly before. There was no sound of reassurance or manipulation behind it- just pure gratitude and the blonde could sense that from her, even without his power.
Partially turning to face her, he smiled at her kindly.
"You're welcome, ma'am. I'm just glad to see you're not bleedin too bad," He said to her, with his Southern accent coming out before leaving the room. This left Carlisle chuckling softly at his son for sneaking in a thank-you to her for not causing him to go feral and Eliana completely in love with him.

I'm your huckleberry (Tombstone 1993) (Doc Holliday)
Description:
The joys of modern inventions and miracles are often taken for granted. Your hungry or thirsty? Get something from the fridge or make it. You need to go somewhere? Drive or call an uber. Your hurt? Go to the doctor.
Your bored? Watch a movie, play video games, watch videos on the internet, talk to people without ever leaving your house.
Some much time is in our hands... but back in the 19th century... you wouldn't last very long.
Diseases are rampant, gun violence is higher, no modern technology, barely any good medicine, almost all of your favorite food doesn't exist and most of the people are rude as hell. But... That doesn't mean all of them were so bad. Love was not something most people in this time really cared about. At least, in the town of Tombstone, Arizona.
After falling asleep with a nice looking stone you bought at a small stand at the carnival, your whole world becomes the opposite. Six people from the past discover you unconscious and alone in the blistering heat and offer help but it was their help that let you meet the most amazing man you've ever met.
John Henry "Doc" Holliday.
Chapter 1
Next
Time is not a thing, but it keeps things in balance, and it never stops. You learn new things every day. Like today, you bought a ticket to go to the local carnival and once you entered, you started to regret the decision. There was a lot of people, more than you can handle, and it was still a bit damp from the rain earlier. The sounds of people talking, the cliche carnival music and game sounds were definitely a sight to see.
The carnival also had small kiosks and shop stands. There was one doing face paints and another selling cheap jewelry. But there was one that caught your eye. It was definitely out of place for all of the bright and flashy colors of the carnival. It was illuminated with dark orange light and had a small sign that read, "Mrs. Hatches shop".
No one was there and from strictly looking at it, it looked like a witch shop. It was a bit odd for it to be here but you still went towards it. The strong smell of incense burners and herbs were very potent and made the little shop very eerie.
"Hello" you called out.
"Aah, a customer"! An old voice said. "Come in my dear".
"Who's there"? A shadow moved from the corner and as it stepped into the light, a very old lady with a wooden cane came forward. She was a bit shorter than you and her skin was very pale with veins appearing near the surface. Her gray hair was put up in a bun loosely with loose hairs being freed and she wore and black woven dress with what appeared to be an emerald ring. "I am" she said as gently as she could. "Who might you be"?
"Uhh... I'm (Y/n)".
The old woman quickly took your hand and examined it. "What are you doing"?
"Reading your palm".
"Ok, great" you said in a slight sarcastic tone, "But please don't touch me".
"Hold still now" she said like a mother scolding her child. "Hmmm... Oh yes, yes, yes! How wonderful"!
"What? What's so wonderful"?
"When I read people's palms, I can tell what their fortune is".
"What is it" you asked curiously.
"Come, I will show you"! She quickly went over to a table that became visible when she lit an old oil lamp. On the table was a glass sphere sitting on a marble stand. "Let me guess" you said sarcastically, "A crystal ball"?
"I know people believe that these are not accurate but I assure you my child, this is what it seems to be". She motioned for you to come sit and you hesitantly did. "What's your name, anyways" you asked.
"Glinda Hatches"! As soon as she said her name she rubbed the glass sphere and smoke appeared inside the sphere and was illuminated with white light. "Wow".
"Now, you may ask one question".
"Why only one"?
"The first question is free but any other questions will cost $5".
"What"?
"That'll be $5 since you already asked two questions-"
"Alright alright alright"! You sighed and you did have cash on you but you were gonna save that for some funnel cakes but after seeing this, you were still very curious. You couldn't think of anything. "Would you like some suggestions"?
"Sure".
"You can ask things such about your family, your past life, your soulmate, you can see things that you can't remember-"
"Wait" you said interrupting her. "Did you just say soulmate"?
Glinda grinned. "Would you like to see you soul mate"?
"Sure".
Glinda rubbed the glass sphere and you muttered, "This should be interesting". The light inside the sphere turned bright white and revealed an image of a man with a black hat, a short-hair moustache and goatee. His skin looked really pale but he looked like a very capable man. "Ooh, he's cute".
"Oh my" Glinda said, "I have never seen this before".
"Seen what"?
"Your soulmate is already dead" Glinda said in disbelief.
"How is that possible? That doesn't make sense". You looked back at the image of the man. "Who is he anyways"?
"His name is John Henry Holliday. As in Doc Holliday. He was a famous gunslinger and poker player".
"Ooh, I like him already! But how is he my soul mate if he's already dead"?
"I'm not sure. But hold on, I have something that may help you". Glinda stood up and rushed over to small chest rummaging around inside. While she was doing that, you took in the features of your supposed "soulmate". He looked very serious and you could see his eyes, he looked so tired. It looked as if his eyes had dark circles around them. He was truly interesting and you decided to Google more information about him but Glinda came back before you could and handed you a small stone.
"This will help you".
The stone was white with black blotches on it and was smoothed out with a silver frame around it. "How does this help me"?
"When used correctly, it will bring your soulmate to you".
"Uh-huh. Sure" you said sarcastically.
"Do you want it or not" Glinda asked.
"Well" you examined the stone and decided that it was good enough for a necklace at least. "Ok. I'll take it".
"Great"! Glinda gave you the stone and said, "That'll be 35$".
"WHAT!? Why"!?
"Remember what I said, 5$ per question". You knew you only had 20$ cash but the rest would be paid with a card. You were about to deny the purchase but you saw a literal crystal ball and had a feeling that everything she has shared with you was factual. "Do you accept credit and debit"?
"Yes, here". She pulled out a chip reader and charged you the exact amount but then had the nerve to push a glass jar near your hand that read "Tip Jar".
"Are you serious"?
"This is how I make my living" she said honestly.
"Tell you what" you said, "If this really does work, I'll come straight back here and give you a 100$ tip".
"Will you" she asked doubtfully.
"I will, I promise". You took your card back and left. That was all your cash and some of your money from your card but you decided to just go home. You were very confused. Going through the large crowd of people to get back to your car felt like an eternity. You would just go home and sleep instead. When you got into your car, you examined the stone more closely, it really was a nice stone and you think you could actually make a necklace out of it. You just put it in the pocket on the dashboard and drove home.
It didn't take long to get home and you were greeted by your dog, Gracie, a golden retriever. Happy to see you as always. You didn't even bother to change into your pajamas and fell onto your bed with Gracie quickly joining you and plugging your phone into your solar panel phone charger. It was odd to have that but your original charger was broken and this solar panel charger had back up power on it to still keep itself powered. You examined the stone on your bed under the dimmed light from the moon and just fell asleep with it in your grasp.
Not knowing, it would literally change your life...

NFL Week 4 Winners and Losers
By; BenJarmin Munguia
Date; October 2, 2024
Week 4 is wrapped up, and some teams stayed as winners, but some teams were really losers—and not in a good way. Let's see who is in camps and damps this week.
WINNER
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals won their first game of the season by knocking off their former quarterback, Andy Dalton, and the Carolina Panthers 34-24. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow went 22-of-31 for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with running back Chase Brown, who carried the ball 15 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals went to Charlotte and won the game with ease. They are now heading to the Windy City to play the Chicago Bears.
WINNER
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts surprised everybody by defeating the strong Pittsburgh Steelers 24-27 on Sunday. Indianapolis lost their starting quarterback, Anthony Richardson, to a hip injury in the first half of the game. Back-up quarterback Joe Flacco finished the game, going for 16-of-26 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns. The 17-year veteran quarterback kept the Colts ahead of the Steelers throughout the entire game, extending the Colts' win streak to 2.
It's unsure whether Joe Flacco will start on Sunday against the winless Jaguars, but it should be an automatic win.
WINNER
Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders
The Commanders are looking like a playoff team. They are sitting in first place in the NFC East and racking up 98 points in their three-game win streak. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels stormed past the Arizona Cardinals 42-14, and it wasn't even close. This was Washington's first game of scoring 40+ points since 2016.
On a high note for Daniels, he has set a rookie record for having the highest completion percentage by a rookie in his first four games, at 82.1%. For example, the rookie quarterback only had 106 passes he threw this season. 18 of them were incomplete, and only 1 was picked off. That is a very impressive stat.
Commanders fly home from the desert to take on the struggling Cleveland Browns.
LOSERS
New York Jets
You can blame the weather for losing to a team that had -12 passing yards in the first half, let alone 60 total passing yards throughout an entire game. There is something going on in the Jets locker room that we don't know, and it's not good.
The Jets play the Vikings in London; let's hope it doesn't rain on Sunday.
LOSERS
Jacksonville Jaguars
You are now the only winless team in the NFL.
LOSERS
Buffalo Bills
I expected a better game from Buffalo. Only being able to put in 10 points is unheard of with Josh Allen under center, but they put all of the blame on the offense. Allen is not on defense, giving up 200 rushing yards, especially an 87-yard touchdown run from Derrick Henry.
The Bills have a chance to bounce back on Sunday against the Texans, playing against their former star wide receiver, Stefon Diggs.
LOSERS
Minnesota Vikings
I might get hate on this. Yes, the Vikings won, and they are 4-0. But almost blowing a 28-0 lead against your division rival is not talked about enough. How do you allow the Green Bay Packers to have a 29-3 run? You don't put your fan base in panic mode, especially if you're fighting for first place in the NFC North.
However, the Vikings can go 5-0 if they can beat the Jets on Sunday in London……especially if it rains.
Was there anyone I missed? Let me know!

3, 8, 9!!
hiya kasper! thank you for making the ask and then sending me an ask :DDD
under a readmore because it got LONG
3. Cher - Believe.mp3: unwritten by natasha bedingfield because release your INHIBITIONS feel the rain on YOUR SKIN no one else can feel it for YOU only you can let it IN. brebbs has already put his whirlwind romcom itinerary out in the world; webby just needs to say YES. yes to drenching himself in words unspoken, yes to living his life with his arms wide open!! YES TO GIVING THAT BOY A TOUR OF YOUR HOMETOWN (1).
8. Hall of Fame - BUMBUSTER!! they are actually going through a difficult period of separation right now because buster went in for that ownership stake, which could've been fine because plenty of sports team owners stay hands-off and prioritize their other investments, but he's buster, so he's GOTTA be IN there, even though he promised bum after they retired, he'd let him teach him how to ride and rope and they'd see if they were up to starting a herd out in north carolina. (phew, run-on sentence!) building a herd could literally refer to a herd of cattle or, euphemistically, maybe a friend of a family friend knows a girl who's in trouble and, well, it's something they've been talking about for almost their entire careers in baseball, but with their schedules, and then bum signing in arizona, it just wouldn't have been fair to let any kid essentially be 90% raised by a nanny. anyway so when buster flew off to pay court to shohei ohtani, bum left him a voice message: don't bother coming back, you BASTARD, unless you want to be met on the porch (that you and i built!) with a shotgun.
9. Hot Stove SZN - casey schmitt/jd davis/michael conforto...he is their young man!! jd's had a thing for michael since they were both on the mets, but then michael missed a season, and jd got traded, and then michael came and signed with the giants and jd thought...maybe. maybe. and then michael showed up for spring training, as beautiful and steady as he always was, and jd thought, fuck it who knows how long we've got before we're traded away, maybe we can try drinks. it's too easy to be around each other, but what's the point of fighting it? farhan will make his moves when he does, and they'll keep trying a different napa vintage with dinner every night.
casey comes up, and they definitely share a little chuckle as he pinballs around the clubhouse. he does solicit hitting tips from each of them, but is disheartened that they don't so much as blink when he pouts. casey definitely asks blake about them, and blake is like: casey, they live together. casey...doesn't know what that means. blake tries again: casey, they cook dinner together. casey: *suprised pikachu face* that...means he needs to COMPLETELY change up his approach! blake facepalms because that is NOT what he meant and decides he'd better go get a real vet to head this off at the pass.
but it's too late. casey has already finagled a dinner invite to the conforto-davis household, where, despite his best intentions, he gets wine-drunk way too fast and falls asleep in his dessert. michael and jd look at each other over the rims of their glasses and rock paper scissor for who washes the dishes and who puts him to bed in the guest bedroom. casey wakes up for breakfast, is embarrassed for exactly half a minute, remembers who he is, makes eye contact with jd, sits himself down in michael's lap and steals his waffle. jd, who is making more waffles, closes the waffle iron on the sleeve of his shirt. michael sloshes his coffee onto casey's pants and well, now he has to go lend casey a pair of pants. he very nearly loses his composure when casey shucks his pants in their bedroom, and then michael does lose his composure for real when jd follows them in and closes the door behind him. it definitely takes at least two sets of hands to handle casey's manic pixie dream girl-ness (2) (3).
#i had so many tabs of bbref and the athletic open for reference 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭#sorreplies#baseball on the brain

Hi there. Californian desperately looking to flee this coming summer. Was once considering Arizona but I’m concerned that the election chaos of CA is in AZ too and now you have a Democrat governor. Is this still a place I can safely flee or is AZ lost like Cali now? Honestly asking. I don’t want to absorb the work and expense of relocating just to be in the same place.
I might give it a year and see how much Katie Hobbs is able to bypass or bully the legislature. I think they'll be able to keep her in check but they have an unfortunate habit of being certifiably insane so I hate to put all my hopes on them. In general, I don't expect the next four years to be super fun here but I wouldn't say the fight is over yet. Our state party doesn't know what the fuck it's doing but if they get their shit together, the state is very winnable. We may have had a big influx of Californians moving here since covid but this is still a slightly right of center state.
I'll give you my usual warnings about moving here:
If you're renting, you should know that housing prices in the cities / larger towns have shot up about 50% in about four years and show no signs of slowing. Be ready for that. I don't know offhand what the trend has been for the more rural areas, but I imagine it's gone up a fair bit too. Still much, much cheaper than California though.
If you're buying, you need to very thoroughly dig into the water rights where you buy or you might find yourself in a lot of expensive trouble very quickly. This is especially true if you are looking at a rural area but several unincorporated areas on the edges of Phoenix have learned the hard way recently that hiring water haulers isn't cheap.
In most of the state, illegal immigration tends to be more of a political issue than a daily life issue but for areas on the border and along major drug corridors, it is a very serious problem. Good luck getting into a hospital in Yuma - they're overflowing with illegal immigrants. I also personally know people who cannot go outside on their own property at night because the cartels use it to traffick all sorts of things and they will shoot you if they see you.
We did manage to hold on to the corporation commission, which regulates the power companies, so I'm not too worried about this unless the legislature does something dumb, but we do need a new power plant soon or we may be looking at rolling blackouts in the not super distant future... I think it'll be okay but it would have been good to have a Republican in the governor's office to smooth that process a bit.
We have a very low income tax and property taxes tend to be low for primary residences. People think this means we are a low tax state. What they forget is that we have a very high sales tax - nearly 10% in some areas. All said and done, we're fairly average for total tax rates when compared with other states. It's still a lot better than California, but I don't want you to be surprised.
You need a car to get around here. Public transportation exists but isn't very functional and nothing is close enough to walk. Make sure you get a new Arizona plate (you only need one) because otherwise everyone will see your Cali plates and automatically hate you.
And the last warning I have is that yes, it really does get fuck-off hot here in the summer. Expect temperatures to never fall below 100 for the entire month of July. If Phoenix doesn't get a straight week of 115+, that's a mild summer. If you're from LA, you probably know what to expect. Otherwise, make sure you have a good AC system - and you want AC, not a swamp cooler. Trust me.
All that said, it's really a great state to live in. It's raining today and that's a rare enough event that everyone gets excited for it. There really is nothing like a southern Arizona sunset. Jeans and a button down shirt count as formal attire in half the state, especially when paired with cowboy boots. Most of the population is from somewhere else so you can find restaurants with quality food from anywhere you like. In most of the state, you will literally never have to shovel snow or scrape ice off your windshield. We have all the major sports franchises so you can go to big games when you want and they don't totally suck but none of the teams are good enough that anyone really expects you to root for them over your home team. We have more biomes here than any other state in the country so whatever kind of environment you want, you can get. Natural disasters don't happen in most of the state - the worst thing is forest fires in the north which are usually manageable. We have a weirdly huge historic car community because our climate is so dry that the cars don't rust. People put Christmas lights on cacti. Haboobs look like the apocalypse is rolling in but are really just a funny word for the newscasters to say a lot. You will see people wearing a bolo tie unironically. I once saw a woman put a tumbleweed in the back of a minivan. I love it here.

💥👪🥞🍁🌏🎭⚙️🌠💘for Nora
Thank you so much for the ask! For sole survivor Nora Navarre:
💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?
Before the vault, guilt and self loathing are her biggest struggles. After the vault, it's anger all the way down. Not that guilt and self loathing went anywhere, of course.
👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?
Her father left when she was seven and she hasn't had contact with him since, and for a long time her relationship with her mother was strained, but polite. It's nonexistent by the time she moves to Boston. She still speaks with her maternal grandmother and aunt a few times a year over the phone--they often call with updates on her mother and youngest sister. She's the eldest of three sisters (the other two are named Grace and Gene). They were close as children, but Grace's death and Nora's decision to leave for Boston put a strain on her relationship with Genie.
She's happily married; her husband Dana is supportive, even if he doesn't or can't understand where she's coming from sometimes.
🥞 PANCAKE - what is their comfort breakfast?
Black coffee and an omelet with mushrooms, green onions, and peppers. Bonus: comfort dinner is homemade tamales and unsweet iced tea. She doesn't have a sweet tooth.
🍁 MAPLE LEAF - what is their favourite season? why?
Spring. Nora's from Arizona, and the rain and new growth of spring are enchanting to her.
🌏 EARTH - will they give up the world for someone they love? is this decision easy for them?
Yes, definitely--her world, at least. It's not an easy decision, and something she may regret making, or go back and forth on. (I'm... gonna hold my full thoughts on this until I've got my fic published, because like, spoilers.)
🎭 MASKS - do they act differently around certain people? what's different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?
Yes, definitely different depending on who's around/who she's speaking to. She's straight-faced around everyone, and has a dry, deadpan sense of humor. Friends and family see the humorous side much more than any stranger does; she typically doesn't make jokes unless she's comfortable with people (though for a real zinger, she'll make an exception. Sarcasm has its uses, after all).
She's definitely been described as a stick in the mud, or as having resting bitch face. The latter is not entirely inaccurate.
⚙️ GEAR - what are your ocs thoughts on science & art? which do they give more importance to? how much value do they place on each?
Her biggest hobby is gardening, which is science and art rolled into one. For Nora, they're two sides of the same coin, each as important as the other.
🌠 SHOOTING STAR - if they could make any wish with no repercussions, what wish would they make?
Oh, easy. She wants to go back in time and do things differently, with the benefit of hindsight.
💘 HEART W/ ARROW - what traits do they look for in a relationship? do they believe in love at first sight?
She looks for honesty and affirmation. She needs to feel trusted by her partner, and able to trust in turn.
She doesn't believe in love at first sight, but she's a demiromantic ace, so she'll acknowledge it may be a thing for other people and not for her.

And there are a few things going on now in town they are rather important
--- Seems John Remillard is wanted for crimes against the state of Florida and they are looking to apprehend him today there are other things going on and they will be mentioned here.
--- There seems to be rain in the Sahara yes it's because they're removing ships offshore there's not much rain and it's off and on and it does not really affect the dust cloud no it does but it does not affect it as much as when we think it does quell it a bit and it will slow down the dust cloud a little bit but really it's off and on and it dries out so fast and it just goes into the first inch and that dries out first and it does make it worse it does add some salt and reduces the amount of radiation which is good in some ways we do have another topic regarding this.
--- Stan is up in arms and he can't believe it so he's going around being a mean person and people are beating him up severely they are seeking him out because of what he's saying and doing they are going after him some of them with vengeance for stuff and also for the truck itself and they're seeking compensation for what he's been doing he's running around and threatening people with what he does he's going to be a hell of a day because he is going to lose a lot of fights and battles it is continuing and it's getting worse and worse for him it will be a problem for him very soon
--- A recycling program has begun and there are yes 10,000 junk yards in Arizona and we are looking to turn that number into 0 we don't like it it's way too many and it's gross there's bugs in there snakes all sorts of stuff we're gonna have to go in there with suits or have you idiots to it regardless it is beginning now we have a few things more and we are going to try and recycle those in Arizona and it is on top of land that is usable one e=reason
--- We did a lot of maneuvers here to see what we could do about this crap fest and there are things we are going to require these people to leave our set alone if you don't you are going to be shot as these two are almost daily now and in the head a lot of people warn them and they don't listen and it's time for them to stop doing what they're doing but really they're gonna have to be destroyed as other people are
--- We have a moment to update a couple things the war in the rings has started to become very fierce and it is increasing in amplitude and magnitude as we approach the 31st on that day they're going to approach by C and it will be a combined force of the Morlock and Tommy F and that's all of the more lock. It will be a day to remember. This day the rings are at 1.3 billion they have lost 300 million thus far. Their leadership will go down after the next billion to 8% and 14% if they bring in more it will it will drop slowly of course.
--- Huge numbers of people are trying to do things and they're not succeeding. There's a large number of them that try and think of what to do and they can't figure it out they don't use a lot of weaponry or systems thinking that they'll dry into combat and they more or less would it'd be hard to get it out now even with the threat system it is more complicated than one would think. But this is becoming very huge and larger and larger every day. As we approach the 31st due this intensifying on that day they plan to bring in large fleet and try and remove the pseudo empire fleet and they would have the sea and air and space and they want to try and do that to try and regain territory from the pseudo empire which they are hammering on elsewhere.
--- On top of all this which is a big day it is only four days away to the 31st. we have several other people who are out of control but they are calling on their troops right now and in a massive way. To come here today. And not wait for the ocean battle for some reason and it doesn't make sense but it does sort of they want to win the ocean battle
--- There are other things happening but we'll make a note they're talking about Newport with regards to this 31st there is no Newport here it could be a battle to create it that's what our son had said and daughter before and that they would try and come by sea and note that it's too shallow as it is now and they get picked off from the shoreline purely and this is what's driving the whole thing we feel that they will lose the battle on the 31st and they will pull out and they will fulfill their destiny and return in October and to win temporarily and then it says they get pushed out But the Battle of Newport in October will sever the power supply to Miami temporarily. From now until then it will be a battle everyday and our son might be getting stuff for these people to try and do maneuvers when they are stuck here they can't get people elsewhere and they're pretty much sitting ducks trying to come in And yeah the guy at the Sarasota current rental is looking at these messino espyder in a serious way he's been looking at them for a while but today he's put them up and said he might try one it's a good idea because it doesn't cost any gas and it's really less maintenance and he was surprised the answer you do have to cover them somehow although they can run in the water it's not good to leave them out
more shortly

A tornado flew around my room before you came
Excuse the mess it made, it usually doesn't rain
In Southern California, much like Arizona
My eyes don't shed tears, but boy they pour when...
I'm thinking 'bout you (Ooh no, no, no)
I've been thinking 'bout you (You know, know, know)
I've been thinking 'bout you
Do you think about me still? Do ya, do ya?
Or do you not think so far ahead
Cause I been thinking bout forever, ooh
Or do you not think so far ahead
Cause I been thinking 'bout forever, ooh
No, I don't like you, I just thought you were cool enough to kick it
Got a beach house I could sell you in Idaho, since you think
I don't love you I just thought you were cute, that's why I kissed you
Got a fighter jet, I don't get to fly it though I'm lying down
I'm thinking 'bout you (Ooh no, no, no)
I've been thinking 'bout you (You know, know, know)
I've been thinking 'bout you
Do you think about me still? Do ya, do ya?
Or do you not think so far ahead
Cause I been thinking bout forever, ooh
Or do you not think so far ahead
Cause I been thinking 'bout forever, ooh
Yes of course I remember, how could I forget how you feel?
You know you were my first time, a new feel
It will never get old, not in my soul, not in my spirit, keep it alive
We'll go down this road 'til it turns from color to black and white
Or do you not think so far ahead
Cause I been thinking bout forever, ooh
Or do you not think so far ahead
Cause I been thinking 'bout forever, ooh

resisting you was always impossible (temily)
Summary: Tara Lewis x Emily Prentiss. Emily and Tara are forced to spend the night in a motel when a storm hits. (oh no there’s only one bed).
Word Count: 2k
A/N: This is my first fic that doesn't include a reader and I'm proud. I was forced to write this because there just aren't enough Temily fics, and I'm completely obsessed with them (also would like to marry them both pls and ty<3) Please let me know what you think! I'm hoping to write for them more in the future :)
Read on AO3
Emily swore under her breath as she pushed her way into the motel room, her clothes and hair were absolutely drenched, and she was currently rethinking every single life decision that had led her to where she was now.
Stuck in a motel room.
with only one bed.
with the ONLY person that she’d been trying to avoid getting into any situation with that blurred the lines of professionalism.
“Oh, thank god, we’ve got towels.” Tara sighed in relief, grabbing the ratty towels from the cupboard as Emily shut the door.
She chucked one in Emily’s direction and used the other to squeeze the water from her hair as she made her way over to her go-bag she’d dropped onto the table.
She looked over her shoulder at Emily, who stood frozen, and frowned. “You okay, Prentiss?”
Emily cleared her throat and made to squeeze the water out of her own hair. “Yeah.”
Tara snorted and turned back to the bag. She rested the towel on her shoulder to free up her hands. She unzips the bag and rummages through for a moment before pulling out an old band t-shirt. She turns around and holds it up for Emily to inspect. “This okay? It’s about all I’ve got.”
“Pardon?” Emily frowned.
“You need something to change into unless you plan on catching hypothermia and considering you didn’t have your go-bag in the SUV, you’re stuck with my clothes.”
Emily struggles to breathe. “Right.” She nods, “Uh, yeah. That’s fine.”
She steps forwards and takes the shirt from Tara. “Thanks, I’m gonna...” She points in the direction of the bathroom and without waiting for a response quickly disappears.
Once the door is shut behind her Emily proceeds to quietly freak the fuck out.
Of course, it was her luck that a storm would hit on their drive back from interviewing a perp at Arizona state prison (who they suspected of being connected to their current case). The rain was so bad Emily could hardly see the road and Tara had suggested stopping for the night and picking back up in the morning when the rain would have hopefully calmed.
Which was a smart idea, but Emily had protested up until the point the car slid and nearly drove off the side of the road.
With anyone else, this situation would be annoying but fine.
But Emily’s heart fluttered stupidly around Tara and she’d taken to telling herself multiple times a day that she was Tara’s boss and that nothing could happen.
It wasn’t helping.
“Suck it up, Prentiss.” She told herself. She’d taken down serial killers; she could handle an inconvenient crush.
Emily stripped out of her clothes, leaving only her underwear on, which thankfully hadn’t been soaked through because honestly, Emily didn’t know how she would have coped if she had had to ask Tara for some. She hung the clothes over the side of the bath to dry and slipped on Tara’s T-shirt.
It was an old Rolling Stones one, and despite her and Tara’s height difference, it barely covered her ass.
“Perfect.” She muttered, and with one last look in the shitty motel mirror, Emily opened the door and stepped back into the bedroom.
And then proceeded to nearly have a stroke.
Because Emily was painfully aware of how attractive Tara was, but she was totally not prepared to see her very long, very beautiful legs. She was wearing a vest top along with short sleep shorts, and it was just a lot of beautiful skin.
“You okay, Prentiss?” Tara asked for the second time that night, with a smirk that Emily desperately wanted to kiss off her face.
“Yeah, I, uh,” Emily scrambled for something to say, “I tried phoning Rossi to let him know what happened but there’s no cell reception.”
“I’m sure they’ll figure it out. We can leave early tomorrow so we can be back at the station for nine.” Tara said as she leant down to grab something from where it rested on the bed.
Emily managed to avert her eyes from Tara’s legs just before the women straightened up and met her gaze. She held out a chocolate bar. “Want this?”
“You have food? You’re a godsend.” Emily praised, happily accepting the bar and chucking her phone onto the bed in the process. They’d been planning on grabbing dinner when they’d gotten back to the hotel, which obviously hadn’t happened. There was no way they were going to be able to order food in this weather and Emily hadn’t eaten since lunchtime.
“Of course, you don’t keep snacks in your go-bag?” Tara’s brows raised in disbelief.
“No, but I will be from now on because that’s genius.”
Tara chuckled. “It’s not a lot. Just that chocolate bar, some trail mix, and a few nutrition bars, but they’re great for emergencies.” Tara’s lips spread into a smirk, her eyes dancing. “And apparently warding off hangry Prentiss’”
Emily scoffed. “I don’t get hangry.”
“Oh, yes you do.” Tara cackled, taking a step closer to her.
“No, I don’t!”
“Sorry, but you do.”
“I do not! Take it back!” Emily ordered, stepping forward to jab a finger at Tara.
“It’s okay Prentiss, a lot of people do.” Tara’s voice lowered, that irritating smirk still painting her lips.
“Yeah, well I’m not a lot of people!” Emily rebutted and knew her face was heating up from her proximity to Tara.
Their breath was practically mingling, and Emily desperately needed to step away. To end whatever this was.
“Oh, I’m very much aware,” Tara said in a way that couldn’t be misconstrued as anything other than flirting. Her eyes dropped to Emily’s lips as her fingers brushed her chin, angling Emily’s head upwards, bringing her mouth dangerously close to hers.
Emily couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, couldn’t do anything but stare deeply into Tara’s eyes. They twinkled but there was a softness behind them, her grip was gentle on Emily’s chin giving her plenty of chance to pull away, but Emily couldn’t remember any of the reasons she should.
So, instead, she nudged her head forward and met Tara’s lips.
And Tara kissed just like she did everything else, with precision, care, and passion. Emily’s hands threaded through Tara’s hair as Tara’s hands ran down her back.
The first sweep of Tara’s tongue had Emily whimpering. Even if she was thinking clearly, she wouldn’t have been able to name a single person who’d even turned her into putty this quickly.
Emily kissed back with everything she had, fighting Tara’s tongue for dominance as they stumbled back towards the bed.
They both breathed heavily as they separated, Tara sat down on the bed and tugged Emily into her lap. Her hands ran down Emily’s side, settling on her hips. Tara stared at her with soft eyes and swollen lips and Emily thought she was the most beautiful thing in the whole world.
But as she stared at Tara her mind began to clear and the full reality of what Emily had just done hit her like a ton of bricks.
“Oh god.” Emily gasped, eyes widening in horror. “Shit. No. Fuck. Oh god.” She scrambled out of Tara’s lap and off the bed, moving to the other side of the room to put as much space between them as possible.
“We can’t- I shouldn’t have- I-” Emily blew out a breath as she struggled to find what to say. Tara just stared at her confusion and hurt shining in her eyes.
“I’m your boss.” Emily settled on, looking at Tara with desperate eyes. “We can’t do that. We can’t be...” It hurt more than it should have. She could feel her heart cracking.
Tara stood up and approached Emily. “It’ll be okay. There are plenty of agents that have dated while being on the same team.”
Emily shook her head, “I’m your boss. It’s different. There are rules in place for a reason-”
Tara scoffed, “Yeah because of Rossi.” She tried to reach for Emily’s hand, but Emily just swatted her away. “Really, Em?” Her eyes flashed with hurt. “Look, I understand it’s not an ideal situation but are you telling me that you’re just going to be able to forget about what just happened?”
“It doesn’t matter. We’re both professionals. We don’t need to make a big deal out of this.” Emily said mostly to herself. Trying to convince herself that she hadn’t just fucked things up.
“Right. Fine.” Tara muttered, not able to hide the way it hurt. She shook her head and made to step away, but Emily’s hand flew out to stop her.
“Wait.” She waited until Tara met her eyes before releasing her wrist. “I’m sorry. I didn’t want to hurt or upset you. I shouldn’t have let myself get sucked in. I should have stepped away instead of kissing you.”
Emily wanted to make this better, to get that sad look off of Tara’s face.
Tara sighed, “It’s fine, Emily. Let’s just eat and then go to bed. It’s late and I’m tired.”
It was barely 8 o’clock but Emily didn’t want to argue so instead she nodded her head.
The tension when they ate made Emily want to scream. They spoke strictly about the team, keeping the conversation light, and steadily avoiding brushing hands as they shared the bag of trail mix. It was more exhausting than the whole of Emily’s week combined.
By the time she crawled into bed, Emily was ready to hide under the covers and not come out for at least a week. She hated to think of what the next girls’ night would be like...
Tara turned the lights off, plunging the room into darkness before sliding into the bed. “Night.” She murmured.
“Goodnight.”
Emily rolled onto her side, facing away from the other women and tried to fall asleep.
The silence lasted for barely fifteen minutes before Tara sat back up, turned the lamp on and said, “You know what, It’s not fine.”
Emily rolled back over and sat up, wincing at the frustration in Tara’s face.
“You feel something too, right? This wasn’t just about sex. There’s something between us and I don’t want to ignore it just because of some bullshit fraternisation rules that only exist because Rossi is incapable of keeping it in his pants.”
“There are rules for a reason. What if something was to happen in the field, I wouldn’t be able to be objective. If I had to discipline you for a reason it would fuck with our relationship, and plus it would mess with your career if people knew you were sleeping with the boss.” Emily closed her eyes, blowing out a breath before looking at Tara with a pained smile. “I feel it too, okay? I-”
“Then stop fighting it,” Tara ordered. “I don’t care about any of that. We’ll make it work because I really like you Emily and I’m so tired of pretending I don’t.”
Emily’s body melted. Tara reached out and caressed her cheek causing Emily’s eyes to flutter close as she leaned into the contact.
“Let’s just give us a chance,” Tara whispered.
Emily opened her eyes, looking at Tara with adoration and love...because that’s what it was. It wasn’t an inconvenient crush or simple infatuation; Emily had fallen in love with Tara and there was no way of fighting that without breaking her own heart and possibly Tara’s in the process.
Emily steeled herself with a deep breath. “Okay.”
Tara’s eyes lit up in delight and Emily found the sight adorable.
“But we have to stay professional at work.”
“Yes, boss.” Tara teased before leaning in and meeting Emily in a soft kiss.
Emily hummed against her lips, “You’re gonna be the end of me, Tara Lewis.”
Tara chuckled, “Not if I can help it.”
She leaned back in and met Emily’s lips. After a few minutes, Emily groaned causing Tara to pull away with an amused look. “What?”
“I’m just imagining the teasing I’m going to receive from Rossi and JJ when they find out.”
“Well, let’s not think about that now.” She kissed Emily again.
“Yeah, you got a better idea?” Emily hummed in between kisses.
“I’ve got a few.”
Emily slid her hand up to Tara’s neck, dragging her in close and kissing the smirk off her face. Tara mewed and Emily just kissed her deeper, dragging her body down to hers and letting the rest of the world fade away as she focused solely on the beautiful woman on top of her.

When your phone dings with a notification, turning on the screen in the middle of the night and waking you up, you can't help but growl upset. Palming blindly trying to find it, you grab it lying on your back. Having to focus your orbs on the message, you frown a little.
📱“shooting star, make a wish”.
Adding a sticker of it, you roll your eyes starting to typing him back.
📲: “stop texting me weird stuff so late at night, gilberto”.
He doesn't take much longer to reply to you, reading it at the same instant, as you watch the grey ticks becoming blue.
📱: “make a wish”.
📲: “for what”.
📱: “mAkE a FuCkInG wIsH”.
📲: “dont talk to me as if i was stupidddddd”.
📱: “MAKE A WISH”.
📲: “DONT SHOUT AT ME”.
📱: “can you just make a fucking wish for a damn fucking time????????????????”

Reading the last text three times, wrinkling your nose, you can't believe he's already here. Jumping off from your bed, almost falling on your face because of the sheets tangled in your legs, you run towards the door to open it. At first, you thought it was a joke or something like that, but Gilly is there. In front of you. After a long week in Arizona. About to cry, and not caring if he's drenched to the skin, you hug him after colliding your body with his.
You can't lie. You have missed him every single second since he left, and it wasn't planned that he came back this soon. Bowing his knees just some inches, he grabs the back of your thighs to urge you to jump onto his strong arms. Wrapping his waist with your legs, you embrace him tightly, you spread short and clingy kisses all around his face cupped in your hands. His laugh makes your body vibrate, coming into your house and kicking the door close.
“Was this your wish?”
“Yes, yes, yes, YES!” You yell excitedly like five years old, hugging him using all your strength. “Fuuuuck, can't believe you're at home, my big bear”.
“I've missed you too, baby”.
Catching your lips with his, Gilly shows you how desperate he has been to see you again, securing you against his body; as his tongue slides into your mouth, anxious to find yours and play with it. This week has been very intense for the two of you with your respective jobs and being far away from each other has made it worse. Breaking the kiss when you're running out of air, your boyfriend rests his forehead on your left shoulder, only focusing on how good your fingers feel on the back of his head; receiving the sweetest caresses on earth.
“Are you hungry, ah? Made some lasagna today”.
“Hm… real food”. He purrs against your neck, provoking on you some chuckles in the meantime that you put down your feet to the floor.
“Change your clothes, I will heat it for you”.
“Am the luckiest man, you know it, right?”
“Yes, I know it”. You reply, giving him a soft smile, intertwining your fingers with his. “Anything for you, babe”.

Extras for The Dusk Calls for me.
Authors Note: While I plan out the next few chapters of my story, enjoy these memories I did for the re-write I did on Wattpad.
TRIGGER WARNING: Mentions and a attempt of SA
Time: This Takes place a year before the beginning of The Dusk Calls for me.
"Makes me feel like flying
Top-down backstreet driving Dusty road all alone
Tip my hat Puff of smoke, smoke
Makes me feel like flying
I just run ."
American Gurl by: Kilo Kish
I was finally out, those words of bile my mother and sister spew toward me finally pushed me over the edge. Yet those words finally got me back with my father in Forks, where I always belonged.
Flashback: One Week Ago.
"FLEUR! GET DOWN HERE NOW!" My erratic mother Renee yelled from downstairs.
My heart started beating out of my chest, what did I do this time? I walked into the dining room, Renee and Isabella were sitting at the table across from where I was sitting. Bella had a smirk on her face relishing in the tension between Renee and I.
"Yes?" I asked.
"You always have to cause trouble don't you?' She replied back, malice laced her voice.
"What? What are you even talking about?"
"Bella told me you've been saving money to go see your father in Forks." She spat at me.
My rapidly beating heart sunk down into my stomach, I had been trying to see my dad in Forks for a year now. My mother refused to get me a plane ticket herself, she always told me I reminded her too much of my father and that I didn't need to be around him anymore than I already was which wasn't often.
"Mother, it's my money I can do with it as I please," I said calmly though I could feel the rage beginning to boil in my blood.
"YOU AREN'T GOING!" She yelled demandingly.
I couldn't control myself, it was as if someone else had entered my body.
"WHAT IN THE HELL IS SO WRONG FOR WANTING TO SEE MY FATHER!?"
"I'M NOT GOING TO WASTE THAT KIND OF MONEY ON YOU!"
"Well you aren't now aren't you? It's my own money and I will use it however the hell I want to!"
"Oh don't you..." Renee started.
"Are you going to tell me you would be doing the same thing if Bella was the one wanting to go see dad?"
"She isn't a trouble maker." She snapped back.
"How am I a trouble maker? For wanting my mother to be kind and considerate? For wanting my mother to treat me with respect? To get an ounce of love from the frozen, undead heart inside your chest?" I asked, my face heated up it felt like it was burning.
"If you can't stand to be around us so much why don't you just move down there to Forks?"
"I will, just give me the rest of the money for the plane ticket and I swear to god the second I walk out that door I will NEVER come back!"
"Fine..." I turned away from her before she could say anything else. Before I reached the stairs I turned around again, looking directly at Bella.
"Get away from her while you can Isabella, or you're going to end up being just as toxic as she is." I then left before they could say anything else.
Flashback over: 2 years before the Original story begins.
I looked to the side, staring out the window. The desert plains had disappeared while I slept and now the lush green forests overtook the view. The fog wasn't heavy but the skies were covered with dark grey clouds and a downpour of rain. The cold weather was a lot more favorable in my opinion, the sun couldn't burn my skin much here. The plane had begun to shake signaling that the plane was beginning to land. I couldn't wait to see my father again, I hadn't seen him since my 12th birthday. When I got off the plane I stretched, being cramped in a small plane for an almost 3-hour flight wasn't exactly the most comfortable.
I walked through the crowded airport, scanning the area for my father. I bumped into some disgruntled couples and quickly left before I was caught in the crossfires of their mood.
"Petal?" I heard from behind me. I turned around quickly recognizing that voice, it could calm me down before I got into trouble.
"Dad..." I said fondly before running up to hug him.
My heartfelt I little more full, and the pain my mother inflicted on me was healed for the time being. We walked out together, each of us was carrying a bag. The wind was strong today and my hair was flying all of the places. Its cooling touch raised goosebumps on my skin, mom didn't buy any warmer clothes for me so I was stuck in the typical Arizona tank tops and shorts. Luckily for me, the car was already warmed up so I dethawed quickly. We drove for a few minutes in silence, the roar of the engine and other passing cars were the only sounds filling the space.
"So, how have you been? I feel like I haven't seen you in a while." Dad said.
"I've been better, you know how mom is," I mumbled.
"I don't know what happened to her, she wasn't like that in high school. If she was I wouldn't have even wasted a second on her."
"I know you would've dad...she's cruel for sure. She's just good at hiding it from people she wants to impress."
"Yeah, she is."
The drive was a giant wave of nostalgia, being 16 now and seeing all of the familiar sites and views brought back fond memories. The old ice cream shop dad use to take me to, the reservation that Sam and Leah lived on, it all brought me back. It also fueled anger, however, as my mother constantly kept me under the brutal radiation of the sun. Dad must've seen the look on my face and put his hand on my shoulder.
"It's going to be okay Petal, you're away from her now." He comforted.
"It's not just her dad... Bella's acting like her too."
"That's a shame... it really is."
"Yeah... it is." I sighed.
"I just can't wait to get back home, the attic is calling for me."
Dad chuckled before speaking again.
"You know... I heard you just got your license... So I got you an older car."
"You did not have to do that dad."
"It doesn't get in until next week, so I'll have to drive you to school until then," Dad said as if that would balance out the fact he got me a car.
"That's fine dad. What is it?"
"It's an old Mustang, a Fastback."
"Thank you, dad..."
"No problem Petal.
When we pulled into the driveway of our small but beautiful home the nostalgia fully set in. The colors were exactly the same, and the grass was just as muddy and dead as before.
"Well I cleared off some shelves for you in the bathroom, your room was a bit dusty so I just cleaned it for you," Dad explained as he helped me take my luggage upstairs.
"Sounds good, thank you again, dad, I love you."
"Love you too Petal." He kissed my head before closing the door behind me. The room was bare, I would have to fix it later on. I collapsed on my bed, facing the ceiling.
"I'm home."
September 17th, 2004.
"Dad I have to go, I don't want to be late on my first day!" I exclaimed throwing on a leather jacket.
"Petal I am almost ready, I never knew you were so much of a bookworm." He joked, ruffling my hair.
"Dad I am an entire school year ahead of where I should be... I take my education very seriously." I said, trying to hide the growing smirk on my face.
"Alright alright let's go," Dad said, taking my arm and pulling me out the door.
We were only driving for a little bit when I decided to roll the window down, I placed my arms on where the window used to be and rested my head on them. My hair blew out of my face and the cool mist of Forks hit me. When we arrived at the school dad was scanning the parking lot looking for a place to park when he passed right by a group of people. They were all gorgeous, their faces seemingly perfectly sculpted, and they all had the same colored eyes, golden. My eyes locked with one however, they were filled with pain for a second before melting into shock. something strange filled my chest and my heart began to race. As we drove past them I gave him a smile, hoping to ease his shock.
Timeskip: September 30th, 2004
Something was up, the boy I saw outside that window, Jasper Hale was more than what he seemed. He was freezing cold all the time, and I swore I saw his eyes turn black for a split second when he saw a boy from another make a gesture toward me. It was strange really, we had been friends for a few weeks but he seemingly had a protective...energy over me. But at the same time, I still felt something... I couldn't explain it. It was as if we were connected to each other in some way. My dad had to take my car to the shop and he couldn't pick me up today so I decided to take a trip to the library, hoping to find some new material to read.
I didn't realize how long I had been in the library until I looked out of the small windows of the building. The sky was darkened and daylight was running out, I checked out a few books and left not wanting to be stuck walking in the night. I was a few blocks home when I heard 3 men talking behind me.
"Oh looks at this one..."
"She seems perfect for us."
"Come here girly... we just want to talk."
My heart raced and my pace quickened, speed walking home. I tried taking weird turns and cuts but they wouldn't fall for the bait. I decided to run for it hoping my legs would be quick enough to evade them all. I was then pushed against the wall 2 minutes into my escape again, the smell of alcohol made me want to retch.
"You aren't very good at listening to orders." One murmured, his face was inches away from me, he breathed in my scent and began to chuckle.
"Don't be too hard on her... I like ones that fight." Another said
"Make this easy on yourself girl..."
One reached down to take off my clothes when he was suddenly thrown back a few feet into the air. I just stood against the wall shocked, I saw Jasper standing over the man before making his way over to the other two men. They both took off leaving their "friend" behind but Jasper zoomed toward them. His speed was inhuman and his strength was unprecedented yet I couldn't stop myself from moving from my spot. The other two men were flown into the air and scream on impact. Jasper grabbed them both by the throats.
"If you EVER try to touch her or any woman for that matter like that again... I. will. kill. you!" He growled before releasing them down on the ground. They gasped and ran again, babbling in terror toward one another.
Jasper walked toward me with a guilty look on his face, his hand reached out for mine and I took it without even thinking.
"Come with me Darlin' I have a lot to explain to you." He said softly, his mood had completely changed with me.
We walked for a few moments in silence, I side-eyed him for any shift in behavior, when it didn't I decided to interrogate him.
"How did you do that?" My voice trembled.
He sighed before replying.
"I'm a vampire." He said blatantly.
I looked at him and laughed thinking it was a joke... when he didn't join I stopped and looked at him with shock.
"You're serious?" I said, my eyes widening again.
"Yes I am, I've been 17 for...141 years. I got changed during the Civil War."
"Damn... you're old... wait were you in the Civil War?"
"Yes, I was drafted to the Confederate Army when I was 17..."
"Yikes..."
"You're telling me, I ran away the first chance I got... I wasn't going to fight in some war that was fueled by warped and disgusting ideas just because I was forced to. I never thought the way they did... I never understood why someone could think so low of a human being just because of his skin."
"That's very brave of you."
"I had just made it to Galveston when I decided to take a break... I ended up on a beach... that's when I ran into an immortal named Maria. She was creating an army and decided that I would be a good fit for it."
"She changed you against your will?"
"I didn't even know what she was doing until I felt searing pains from my arms all the way up to my neck." He explained rolling up his sleeves and showing me his scars."
I traced the teeth marks on his forearm before looking up at him again.
"I'm sorry that happened to you..."
He looked up at me in shock.
"You... you feel sympathy for something like me? I'm a monster..." He said sincerely.
"It wasn't even your choice as to what you became... and I don't think a monster would've saved me back there. Face it, Jasper, you're a big softie who's had bad experiences in his long... long life."
He chuckled before glancing at me, we made it back to the house, dad still wasn't home yet. We walked into the backyard, sitting in patio chairs and looking up at the stars.
"There's something else I have to tell you." Jasper admitted in the darkness.
I looked at him in confusion, what else did he have to tell me? He's a werewolf too?
"You're..." He hesitated. "You're my mate." He said quickly.
"What? How... vampires have mates?" I asked in shock.
"Yes we do, and we instantly know when we've met them. Didn't you feel it, when you looked out that window at me? It was enamour... love, something I have never experienced before."
"I haven't either... but I have to admit I felt something too. I just didn't know what it was, I felt connected to you somehow though. But... I'm 16... falling deeply in love isn't exactly something I planned."
"I understand completely. I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do. I understand I am a vampire... this is a lot to take in." Jasper said lowering his head in shame, his curls covered his eyes.
I sat up and turned to him.
"Hey, hey it's not just because you're a vampire honest! I just need to think things through... we can still talk in and out of school I won't push you out." I said a bit faced-paced. I didn't want to hurt his feelings he did just save me after all.
He looked and me and grabbed my hand.
"Take all the time you need Fleur, I will accept your answer no matter what is it." He said sincerely.
"Thank you... Jasper."
"It's not any trouble." His face lit up all of the sudden, car headlights entered my line of view. I felt my hand by dropped by his cold one and a whoosh of wind flew my hair forward. I turned back around and he was gone.
Timeskip: October 16th, 2004.
It was hard, weighing the pros and cons of being with Jasper.
Pros: We were soulmates... destined to be with each other, He knew my limits and respected my boundaries, he gave me a choice, not forcing me into something I might not want to do, and he was a kind and gentle soul. We understood each other, our hearts and souls were connected and I would never find someone else I would be so close to.
Cons: He was a creature who thirsted for blood... a thirst he didn't always have the best control over, Being in a serious relationship at such a young age was a huge commitment I didn't even fully know who I was... would I ever be able to find out who I am being so committed to someone If I did become involved in a relationship two things would happen... I would die and leave him lonely for eternity, or I would be turned into a vampire... leaving my family behind.
My mulling over of the pros and cons was interrupted, a girl had cleared her throat. I looked up realizing I was still in the school library, standing in the back of the constant isles of books. I turned to the voice and my eyes were shocked to see Rosalie Hale looking at me.
"Rosalie? Is there something you need?" I asked.
"Let's go for a walk, I need to talk to you in private." She said she seemed tense about something.
I checked out the books I got before following her to the outside, we walked near the edge of the woods. The dead leaves and grass crunched underneath our feet.
"I know Jasper told you about us... and he told me that you wanted to think somethings over with him." She started.
"Hey... I just wanted to let you know I would never tell anyone about you guys... And I'm not trying to hurt Jasper with me thinking our relationship over. It's just a lot of process." By the time I finished that statement she laughed and patted my shoulder.
"Don't worry Fleur I completely understand why you want to think over some things... I would too if I were in your shoes. Besides, I trust you... I get a good vibe off of you." Rosalie replied smiling at me.
"I want to get into a relationship with Jasper I do but... I don't want to leave my father... he's all I got right now and I'm all he's got."
"Hey, I promise no one would force you into becoming a vampire in our family... I especially wouldn't force you to."
"Really?"
"Yes of course... It's nice to meet someone with a respect for mortality."
"It's just... I always to do certain things... like going to that art school in Cayon City Oregon... the Art Museums down there are amazing... and I always wanted to kid when I was older... a little boy." I explained smiling fondly at the thought.
"I did too... I always wanted a son."
"But at the same time... I wouldn't want to spend all my time with Jasper... only to leave him alone for eternity you know?" I asked her hoping she would get my point of view.
"Of course... I can tell you've been conflicted these past few weeks about it. But I wanted to vouch for Jasper... he's willing to do anything for you, and his thirst for blood has never been more controlled than when he's been with you. He won't take you away from your family either... he would never want to hurt you in any way possible." She explains turning toward me to look me in the eyes so the message could really sink in.
"Thanks, Rosalie..."
"Of course...give Jasper a chance, I promise it'll be worth it." She said.
"I will... I'll talk to him tonight, thanks for the guidance."
"No problem."
Timeskip: October 16th, 2004: 10:12 PM
Dad was gone, he had to work late down at the station tonight. My palms and legs shook nervous to tell Jasper my decision. I was sitting in the same spot I was in when Jasper told me I was his soulmate... the cool air calmed my nerves slightly before I closed my eyes and sighed.
"Fleur? You said you wanted to talk to me... are you okay?" Jasper's voice asked worryingly behind my closed lids.
"Yeah, I'm fine... I just wanted to give you an answer about... everything."
He sat down adjacent to me and nodded, wanting me to continue.
"I will get into a relationship with you... thank you for giving me the time to think about things."
He smiled before asking me if he could kiss my cheek. I said yes of course and it seemed my body melted in bliss and content. All the past weeks' tensions and worrying left me and it was replaced with love... and a sense of stability. We looked up at the stars and I pointed toward the largest one in the sky.
"You see that one?" I said.
"Yes, I do Darlin'."
"That is the star of the path I started with you..."

A tornado flew around my room before you came
Excuse the mess it made it usually doesn't rain
In Southern California much like Arizona
My eyes don't shed tears but boy they bawl
When I'm thinkin' 'bout you
Ooh no no no
I've been thinkin' 'bout you
You know know know
I've been thinkin' 'bout you
Do you think about me still
Do ya do ya
Or do you not think so far ahead Ahead
'Cause I been thinkin' 'bout forever Oooh oooh
Or do you not think so far ahead Ahead
'Cause I been thinkin' 'bout forever Oooh oooh
No I don't like you I just thought you were cool
Enough to kick it
Got a beach house I could sell you in Idaho
Since you think I don't love you I just thought you were cute
That's why I kiss you
Got a fighter jet I don't get fly it though
I'm lyin' down thinkin' 'bout you
Ooh no no no
I've been thinkin' 'bout you
You know know know
I've been thinkin' 'bout you
Do you think about me still
Do ya do ya
Or do you not think so far ahead Ahead
'Cause I been thinkin' 'bout forever Oooh oooh
Or do you not think so far ahead Ahead
'Cause I been thinkin' 'bout forever Oooh oooh
Yes of course
I remember how could I forget
How you feel
And though you were my first time
A new feel
It won't ever get old not in my soul
Not in my spirit keep it alive
We'll go down this road
'Til it turns from color to black and white
Or do you not think so far ahead Ahead
'Cause I been thinkin' 'bout forever Oooh oooh
Or do you not think so far ahead Ahead
'Cause I been thinkin' 'bout forever Oooh oooh

She sees him cleaning the water system and is like what you doing? He says how he wants the animals to have nice fresh water. And how cute it is when the bees come and get a drink.
She like yes this is a kind state. One that cares about animals he must be chill. And ask Gov and Gov of course is like oh Arizona he so nice. He and his friends have let me into their group and are so much fun.
She is like good! Can I meet all of them? It so great to see you have friends!
She does get to meet them. And she finds out Arizona is not a good southern boy as papa would say.
But she also see him give Gov food and water. And doesn't leave till he has some. She also sees Ari get picked up by NM laughing the whole time while NM drops him into the mud.
It does rain that day. It the first time Gov has seen Ari in the rain.
NM, Utah, and Coco sit on the porch with Gov and IDC talking while Ari is out running around jumping in the puddles. He just flops down and looks up at the storm clouds only to jump back up and start running around again.
Gov does try to tell Ari to come in he get sick. And the other three are like boy your not get him in. We have to wait till he pass out from running and then we can grab him and bring him in.
After about 3 hours he does fall asleep. On the grass. Utah and Coco grab him and carry him inside. Where NM has a towel he put in the dryer to warm up. They dry the half asleep boy off and sit on the couch. With him raped in a few blankets. He is very cuddly. And is totally trying to wiggle into all of their laps.
They smile and have him lay around them. He totally falls back asleep once he is comfy. With a big old smile on his face.
IDC approves she sees how all four corners take care of each other. And also how kind they are to her brother. While Arizona reminds her a bit of Florida he is also not Florida. If that makes sense. He got more Wonder and a lot of joy from little things.
I'm transferring what I had in the group chat here. Cause I wanted to add more as well.
@greatinternetllama
Gov gets nightmares about the time in January.
Also
Arizona gets nightmares about all the people who has d*e from the heat and not enough water.
One day Gov walks out to get some water and finds Arizona just sitting on the couch staring at the TV which is not on. Gov just sits down without talking they just sit there. Gov falls asleep first. Arizona gets up and goes wake us Florida. Who is like Arizona!! Want to fight! And Ari just like your boyfriend is asleep on the couch. He not doing to hot. Go get him. Florida runs off. Arizona just goes back to his room.
They don't says anything. To each other. They don't know what the other one was dealing with. But they know it was nightmares due to some trauma.
Gov didn't think Arizona was struggling at all. He always seems so put together. Well in the way as nothing bother him and he just off making mayham. Arizona didn't think Gov was this bad. But Ari hasn't really talked to gov at all. Only when Florida is trying to show Gov that Florida is better than Arizona. And Ari spends a lot of those time focussing on Florida not Gov.
Florida come and brings him back to bed. And cuddles him. So Gov wakes up in Florida arms. Florida tells gov Arizona sent him and how gov should have just woken Florida up.
So Gov trys to return the favor. By telling NM Colorado and Utah. That he needs to extra love. They all look at each other and are like summer d**th has come early this year. We watch over him thank you.
The four corners go out in the desert and let Ari talk about the different cactus and desert animals he loves so much. Reminding him that he is beautiful. And not just pain.
Ari is so thankful. He knows what they are doing even if they don't out right say it. He figured Gov has something to do with it.
So he gets some of his favorite Mexican food. Making sure he puts on the Tupperware which foods are hot and which are not. Gov seems like the kind of person who doesn't do spicy food.
Arizona was right Gov thinks the one label mild is still pretty spicy. But if he has milk and drinks a lot it not bad. He shares the food with Florida.
The four corners are thankful for Gov telling them. And thus invite Florida and Gov to there game night. Which they didn't think though. Cause they play games that Gov has band from the house.
Arizona and Florida are trying to beat each other. NM is threatening to fight everyone. Colorado is just having fun. Utah is like why did we think this was a good idea. It fine with the four of them cause they know it just a game and not to actually get mad at each other. They only pretend to be mad.
And Gov is very stressed. Florida does almost take things to far but Utah knows it about to happen. It his dad sense. He stops everything.
Ari, NM and Coco know when Utah is calling things off and stop immediately. They start packing things up.
Florida is like wait no am not done. I haven't won yet. Gov is very impressive. And wants to know how Utah did that. Florida is kind of sad when he realized no more chaos is going to happen.
Utah tells Gov that he should have realized that game night wasn't the best idea. And he sorry for any stress he cause. Gov is like it fine. But I want to know how did you call it off and stuff. Utah confused. He like. They others while can be a handful and don't always know the line. They know I can see when things become to much for someone and know if I call things off to stop.
Gov is like but what about all the fights NM and Ari get in and the mess? Can you call that off. Utah laughs. Saying that it only really works for emotional distress and that it really more when it the four of them. NM can't be stopping from beating up people who have hurt someone he cares about. You kind of just have to pull him off and hope the other person knows what best and doesn't try anything. He mostly fights people who he finds being mean or hurting someone he cares about. And unfortunately he finds that a lot. He needs to be bandage up when he done.
As for Arizona. He more of a "that sounds like fun" last words kind of guy. He more of a danger to himself. The last thing he wants is to get someone else seriously hurt. He has seen enough suffering. He needs someone to help to be reminded he is loved and to take drink water and not get himself killed.
Colorado is more in need of cuddles and someone to make sure he eats and doesn't fall down some stairs when he too high. Something to keep him grounded in reality.
Utah is like. They all are caring and kind. They just need some love and taking care of. And I need stuff to. And we all just take care of each other.
Gov doesn't know what to do with that information. It not what he thought about them. He just thanks Utah and then the others and takes Florida back to there place.
Florida sees how quite Gov is being and is like hey. You okay? Gov tells him he not sure. Which is the truth. Florida then makes sure to keep Gov from getting to stuck in his own head and getting bad.
