No me convincing myself that Tim is Red X undercover and he’s there to rescue Kon fully knowing that isn’t true

LMAO I mean live your life, follow your dreams, but yeah I don't... Don't think that could really be it

Gonna cite my first reason as the Future State timeline, in 2025 Tim is Robin in Robin Eternal, Teen Titans where Red X had been being held captive and then gets killed in the last big fight is in 2027, and in Justice League all the way in 2040 Tim is shown as a potential new member... still as Robin. Yes Future State is just a possible future but literally everything implies the Red X there is the same one we're dealing with in current stuff.

Then just in the actual current stuff its being incredibly implied Red X is a student at TTA, because like... he'd need to be to have access that easily and everything. And well, Tim is not.

But like live your dreams, write an AU, go off with it ya know! It's def still an interesting idea

“That kid reminds me of you.”

“What…?”

“It was like seeing another Daisuke, but that V-mon didn’t look like me. It gave me the impression it’s not an usual digimon.”

“What are ya talkin’ about V-mon? That kid cannot be me, we ain’t alike! Heh, I’d say he’s part of the goody-two-shoes group.”

“But they aren’t bad people, you know. They share the same desire as you.”

“If they did, then why would they accuse me of doin’ something bad!?”

“... Please, look at the situation you’re in.”

…

“They have the same desire as me…?”

He was at the balcony, admiring the view. That memory of what V-mon had talked to him before he and Ken left the Digital World caused confusion inside him.

“Why can’t they see what I am trying to do…? What Ichijouji and I are trying to prevent from happening again?”

Was it right, though?

“... I need to see that kid again.”

[Daichi’s World, year 2027]

Kiyoko mysteriously got a message from her brother saying he would stay at some friend’s home for a few days and to tell their mother to not worry about. oddly, the message came at the morning, so she had to explain things at the breakfast.

Miyako accepted that, just like her. and after leaving home for work… Kiyoko started to investigate her brother’s whereabouts.

“Daichi, where the heck are you? I told you were at Mitsuki’s house, but I just asked him and he said you didn’t see him yesterday. Whatever you’re doing, stop hiding stuff and let me help you doofus.”

She typed that while reading it with a quiet voice. When she hit the ‘send’ button, Kiyoko heard someone knocking on the front door aggressively.

“What? I didn’t expect him to return that quickly…”

She went to open the door, and after that… Someone stepped in very quickly and closed the door. She shouted and tried to use her phone to call for the police but…

“No wait, it’s me!”

“Ta… Taisuke!? Why are you wearing shades and a facemask!? Wait, your hair is… Down?”

“Argh, don’t ask me questions!” he snorted “No wait, I can answer that. Someone is… Following me!”

“Following you?” she frowned “Like, a digimon or a person?”

“I don’t know!” he took the shades and mask off “I was going to meet Eiji and suddenly I heard a ‘click’ ‘click’ and then…!! I had to go home and try to disguise myself!”

“You don’t know…” it wasn’t a good answer, but could her give him a hand at this hour? “If there’s someone following you, how about telling officer Ichijouji to investigate it?”

“It’s not… It’s not a police’s case! It’s some paparazzi!”

“I still think you need to tell officer Ichijouji about it.”

“How!? It keeps following me everywhere I go since yesterday! And my uncle is busy with the case of that attack on the theater event. A-and he might tell my dad about it!”

“So you want to hide it from them, to not let the adults know some creeper is following an innocent child-- Wait. I think I know who’s that creepy paparazzi following you.”

“D-do ya know!?”

She noticed someone very familiar outside right now through the window. Oh no, it’s him.

“It’s you Junya, am I right?” she opened the window “You jerk stop scaring my friends! I told you they’re NOT part of some conspiracy theory involving the legends!”

“Wait, what?” Taisuke blinked.

“Oh Kiyoko, I was passing by hehe--”

A teen revealed himself -- Spiky hair and with the same color as Motomiya Jun’s haircolor, holding a phone and now looking at her from the distance.

“If you bully my friends again I swear I gonna punch you to the outer universe!” she shook her fist “Now get outta here! Shush!”

“Wait, you know that person!?”

“He’s my cousin” Kiyoko answered unhappily “He’s a cool guy but he started researching for the Tale of the Chosen Children and ended up cooking some dumb theories. He said ambassador Yagami is hiding the truth from the world, that he knows those stories are real.”

“O-oh… Wait, what have I do with it!?”

“I’m sure he wanted to investigate your daily life, and perhaps make you spill the beans. Don’t worry, I know those are stories for children and that your dad isn’t hiding stuff from anyone else.”

“That’s illegal I think.”

“Yeah I know, I will fight him if he does it again. Let me know please?”

“Thanks” he sighed.

[Parallel world, year 2002]

Daichi waited the end of the school activities on the next day so he could catch Daisuke and finally ask a few questions. It still bugged him that the Daisuke of that world wasn’t friends with the Chosen Children, and that Ken was also one of the enemies. Those made no sense! How in the world would two gentle and caring people could be completely the opposite of their counterparts from his world?!

They were on the other side of the street, watching carefully from there. Ulforce Chibi had been on Natsu’s arms, while Daichi kept his eyes on the school’s entrance, and checking it out the clock. Oddly, his digivice had adapted to that world’s time from all of a sudden.

“It’s almost the time-- Huh? Someone’s coming”

“Oi, kid!”

They wasn’t expecting him to be already there! And to be the first to leave minutes before the school’s ring bell rang.

“Can we talk for a bit?” he was smiling? That seemed suspicious.

“So… You have a digimon right?” they were walking on the sidewalk, with no idea where they were going. But Natsu assumed to be back to the Motomiya household “That lil’ plush here is your partner?”

“Yes, he is” Daichi replied, still unsure if he could trust Daisuke or not. The fear from yesterday was still present in his voice “B-but why do you ask it?”

“Look, sorry for… Attacking you? My friend does not like to get people messing with his plans. We’re doing something for the people.”

“Enslaving digimon won’t solve anything” Natsu replied with a cold tone.

“Geez, why do you think we’re enslaving them?” Daisuke seemed uncomfortable with that wording “Ichijouji and I are just makin’ them unable to evolve. The digimon caused damage to this world three years ago.”

“It still makes no sense!”

“N-Natsu please…” Daichi tried to calm her down “I’m aware of what happened, the Chosen Children told me.”

“But did they tell you WHAT the digimon actually had done to us!? They invaded this world, kidnapped children, took everyone in town as hostages. And, another incident changed Ichijouji’s life.”

Natsu wasn’t aware of the last part. Maybe it was… An event from that world?

“His brother, ol’ Osamu, was hit by a car which was damaged by the digimon interference. He survived, but he can’t walk anymore.”

Wait, what!? Ichijouji Osamu survived in this world!? Natsu was shocked by that reveal. Because, in Daichi’s world Osamu is…

“But mr. Motomiya, you can’t simply condemn all the digimon for those incidents!” Daichi tried to be reasonable with him “There’s good digimon too! The Chosen Children’s job is to protect the worlds, not to take control of an entire world to protect the other!”

“I agree, but… Takeru and his mean friends keep accusing us from being bad people! I’m not a villain!”

“If you’re not, then stop pretending that that does not affect the others!” Natsu hissed “If you’re a hero you need to stop Ichijouji Ken!”

“If I stop him… The digimon will invade this world again!”

“Do ya think we’re evil!?” Ulforce roared “If the bad digimon invade, then the Chosen Children will protect this world just like before!”

“mr. Motomiya,” Daichi said with a frown “mr. Ichijouji might be confused as well and if you’re the only person he cares about, you’re able to make him understand that.”

“... I don’t think if they… If Hikari and Taichi… Would accept me after all the damage I’ve caused to them.”

“They will! After all, mr. Hikari doesn’t seem happy fighting her friend. In fact, she seems hurt by it.”

Daisuke glanced at him in silence, so there is hope. The hope to fix the wrong choices he had taken.

“I will talk with him then. Maybe if I explain things… No, could you lend me a hand, kiddo?”

“Yes, I can try. Also, I’m Daichi and these are Natsu and Ulforce.”

“Well you can call me by Daisuke then” he chuckled “... Thanks for giving me a reason to do the right thing, Daichi.”

“So you knew what you were doing was the wrong thing…?”

“Eh, kinda of…” he laughed nervously “Every time I tried to talk with Ichijouji he… Seemed pretty distant from me. I stayed with him because I couldn’t stand seeing him alone. And he’s still hurt by what happened to ol’ Osamu.”

“Despite of everything… You’re still the same” Natsu muttered.

“I’m glad you heard me, mr. Motomiya” Daichi smiled “This shows that you’re a good person after all, just like mr. Takeru and mr. Hikari think about you.”

“They… They think that about me?”

“Yes, they do.”

“... Thanks.”

[Daichi’s world, year 2027]

“Their information is correct,” Ken told Taichi via phone “I had been informed of a suspicious activity in the Digital World.”

“Is that… ‘Roar of Freedom’ they mentioned?”

“Yes, I think they’re connected to that incident from 2025.”

“... What do you need?”

“Nothing at the moment, but if I’m right about this… We might find him.”

“Sir!” an officer opened the door of the room “S-someone invaded and… And…”

“What?” Ken turned to look at the woman “I will call you later, I need to go now” he told Taichi and hung up “What happened?”

“The Strikedramon brothers… They had been… Deleted.”

“Deleted!? How!? The security of this building is…”

“We don’t know! All we got was… This.”

She gave him a paper with something written in Digimoji.

“... I will handle the case. Please, check the cameras and check if you can find something suspicious.”

“Yes sir.”

“Wormmon,” he looked at the digimon playing something on a tablet “Can you read this for me? I need to call the others” and he passed the paper to Wormmon.

“Um, let’s see” Wormmon took his reading glasses and examined the paper.

“Hello? It’s Ichijouji. Could you gather the rest of the group for me? I know we all are busy, but this is important. Ok, I will wait.”

Wormmon started to type the translation on the tablet.

“I need a gathering of all ten as soon as possible. No, it’s indeed important so that’s why I’m trying to reunite all of us. It also about him, I think I got a clue. Can’t tell that yet, and what I want to discuss is about--”

“Kenchan.”

“One sec, Wormmon was translating something for me.”

“Here,” Wormmon handed him the tablet and Ken read it aloud:

“... ‘You won’t win this time, Chosen Children. I know who all of you are.’ , huh?”

“That’s concerning…” Wormmon frowned.

“I think we have to reunite everyone right now. I got a message addressed to us.”

The largest human organ is the skin. The skin of an attractive female he has he sights on always does him in. The rush of heat he always manages to pull to her cheeks with just a smile. The softness under his touch or the sheen of sweat on their skin once they’ve gone a round or two. Billy always had to have the feel of another’s skin even in the most minute way — just to feel something — and today not just anyone would do.

His eyes scan the crowded halls looking for one girl, in particular, the one he had dreamt about getting his hands on last night. It took him a few moments, playing a game of ‘where’s Waldo’ before his eyes landed on the hidden jewel he was looking for. With his signature smirk, he pushes past the girls making their way toward him and saunters right up to you. He doesn’t hesitate to reach out, run his fingers along the nape of your neck and chuckling when you shiver at his touch.

He can’t help but let his mind travel back to last night, your skin glistening with the pool water and the glow of the setting sun causing you to almost glow. You were like a painting, one worth to be hung up in those fancy-schmancy museums or something like that. Made him wonder why he hadn’t noticed you like this before, sure he knew you and that you were a babe but for some reason, he always just kept his distance and once you broke that barrier he’s not so sure he can keep that distance anymore. Now, you’re his new muse whether you like it or not.

Swatting the hand away from your neck, you turn around to see Billy standing there with his usual smirk. He leans against the locker beside yours, letting his eyes slowly roll down your body — head to toes and back up — eyes finally resting on yours when he decides to speak up.

“Morning sweetheart.”

“Morning Billy, can I help you with something?” You ask, rubbing the back of your neck and trying to rid yourself of the goosebumps that had made a path where his fingers trailed gently across your skin.

“Just came to say hi to my little stalkers.” He smiles with a wink, looking between you and Angie.

“Whoa, about that! We-” Angie begins to explain but is interrupted by Billy.

“No, it’s alright. I understand, your sweet y/n here invited me over last night and explained all she needed to. Although she could have gone into more… detail.” He smirks.

Angie’s eyes go wide in revelation of what Billy is talking about. Her head whips over to you who is standing there as if nothing he said bothered you a bit. With a quiet scoff, you shake your head and grab your English textbook, closing your locker.

“See you in class, Billy.” Is your only response as you walk past him, Angie quickly following on your heels and showering you in questions.

“What was he talking about?” Angie asks as the two of you take your seats in your English class, pulling your desks together so that they touch.

“I was going for a swim and thought, what better way to apologize for creeping than to invite him over to the pool.” You shrug.

“Or you just don’t want to admit you find him delicious and wanted to see him up close.” She was wagging her eyebrows with a wicked smile on her face.

“Not true!” You gasp, face completely defying what you just said. “Maybe just a little.” You whisper.”

You always know when Billy walks into the room because that boy demands all the attention. At first, the room goes quiet for a microsecond as if he is pulling all the noise and energy from around the room so that he can use it.

“Ah, little stalker, there you-”

“Mr. Hargrove, take your seat please.” Mr. Jordan says, entering the room and walking straight back to his desk.

With a groan, Billy drops into the desk directly behind you. Smiling when he sees you shift in your seat under the pressure of his eyes. After a couple moments of his quiet staring, you turn in your seat, glaring at him as he happily returns it with a wink.

“Today, we will be starting our partnered projects.” Mr. Jordan announces.

“We’ve got this project in the bag,” Angie says, nudging your side.

Mr. Jordan continues on with the details of the project but you can’t really focus on anything other than Billy twirling the eraser end of his pencil in your hair. You know that all he is really trying to do is get a reaction out of you and you are determined to deny him that reaction. Sure, Billy is hot and all but you don’t want to be just like all the other girls in this school. You’re happy just being acquaintances with Billy, admiring him from afar.

“Hey Mr. Jordan, I’ll take y/n,” Billy says, leaning back in his chair.

“Wait, what!” You ask, eyes wide as you finally tune back into reality.

“Looks like we’re partners, little stalker.” He smirks, leaning up in his seat to nudge you.

“No! Mr. Jordan, Angie and I were supposed to be partners. We are always partners!” You stand up out of your chair, making a scene.

“Exactly, you two are always partners. It’s time for a change, change is good.” Mr. Jordan says as he writes in his notebook, paying you no mind.

“Yeah, little stalker, change is good.” Billy chuckles.

“Stop calling me that.” You snap, crossing your arms over your chest.

“Oh, did I hit a nerve, little stalker?” He asks with an amused gasp. “I wouldn’t mind hitting a different type of nerve.” He whispers seductively in your ear.

You can’t help the shiver that runs down your spine, an involuntary reaction to his breathy words in your ear. Billy notices right away, he can see the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. He smiles when he sees you shiver ever so slightly when his breath fans across your neck.

“This is going to be fun.” He chuckles to himself as he leans back in his chair, pretending to listen to whatever Tommy H. Is spewing.

“You so owe me, like for the rest of your lives.” You groan pacing the room, the three young teens from yesterday along with the rest of the party, including the designated ‘dad’ Steve. “Now he won’t leave me alone.”

“Look, we are sorry, we didn’t know who else to go to,” Max says, throwing her hands up in the air. “If there was another option, we wouldn’t have brought you into this.”

“Yeah, well now we have to figure out how to get me out of this.” You groan plopping down on the couch. “Plus, it’ll do us no good having Billy chasing after me to get into my pants. He’ll just get in the way.”

“Not necessarily.” Lucas shrugs. “I mean if he is chasing after you and you are intentionally keeping him away from us… he will never get in the way.”

“He has a point,” Dustin says with a nod. “Plus, I heard you have a thing for Billy. Shouldn’t be too hard to take one for the team.”

“Who said I have a thing for Billy?” You whip around, facing Dustin, eyebrows furrowed. “Your cousin Lydia? She’s an idiot.”

“Denial.” Dustin chuckles.

“Okay, enough.” Steve intervenes. “It would come in handy to have someone we know that can keep Billy out of our hair but if you aren’t comfortable with it…” Steve shrugs.

“Well, I have to work with him for the next three weeks anyway.” You sigh. “You all still owe me though.”

A knock on the door has you groaning and pouting. With a sympathetic smile, Steve gathers the kids telling them it’s time to leave as you all make your way to the front door. When Steve opens the door, Billy’s face is dumbstruck with confusion and you can’t help the small amused smile.

“Well Harrington, I didn’t expect you here,” Billy says, his voice flat as the kids make a beeline out of the house. “You two playing some weird game of house or something?”

“You jealous?” Steve asks, stepping out of the door and onto the front porch with Billy.

“Of you, Harrington? Never.” He smirks.

“Can you just shut up and get in here so we can start on this, please?” You ask, pulling Billy’s attention away from Steve and to you.

“Eager aren’t we?” Billy smiles and shoulder checks Steve as he steps into the doorway. “ Later, Harrington.”

You stand in the doorway, watching Steve and the kids leave. When you turn around, your eyes meet with his beautiful blues. Slowly, Billy saunters closer to you, his gorgeous blue orbs not leaving yours as he walks close enough for your breath to mingle without your lips meeting, a surprising mix of his cigarettes and your minty gum. He lifts his hand up, almost in slow motion as he reaches past you and closes the door, stepping back and nodding to your backpack on the ground by the door.

“Where do you want to take this part, sweetheart?” He asks, looking around the living room. “Maybe the bedroom?” He smirks.

“Sure, whatever.” You sigh, grabbing your bag from off the floor. “Let’s go pretty boy.” You walk past him and up the stairs toward your bedroom.

The skin is the largest human organ and right now yours burn from the holes Billy is boring into you. The both of you sitting cross-legged on the floor, you with your nose in the book that the teacher had assigned to you and Billy with the book in his lap and staring at you, head tilted to the side. You try to ignore his eyes trained on you but the longer he looks at you the warmer your skin gets, accumulating a thin layer of sweat.

“Can you please stop staring?” You smack your book closed, looking up at him.

“I think it’s time for a break.” He sets his book on the floor, scooting it away from him and standing up to his feet. “Come on, little stalker, let’s go for a dip.”

“Billy, we are in the middle of-”

Before you can finish your sentence Billy picks you up and throws you over his shoulder. His muscles tight as he holds you still, rushing out of the room and down the stairs. Your heart almost stops at how fast he races down the stairs and out the back door, not wasting a second before jumping right into the pool. The water is cool, contrasting with the warm, late spring air. You breach the surface of the water, a few feet away from Billy.

“What the hell!” You gasp, wiping the water from your face and splashing him.

“Thought you needed to cool off a little bit.” He winks. “Plus, I like the way you look… like this.” He says quietly and pushes you against the edge of the pool, leaning into your lips and you let your eyes flutter closed.

Right before his lips come in contact with yours, you are interrupted by someone clearing their voice, a sound you are all too familiar with. Instinctively you push Billy away, putting as much space between the two of you as you can before you look up at your mom.

“You should probably head home.” You say quietly to Billy before climbing out of the pool and grabbing a towel from your mom. “I’ll bring your book by later.”

“Just bring it to school tomorrow.” He says with a smile, looking from you to your mother before heading out the back gate.

“Be careful with that Billy kid, he seems like trouble.” Your mother warns, turning to walk back into the house.

 “Trust me, mom, I know.” You sigh, looking back to the gate Billy just walked out of.

Flashback: An Outlier Lunch

The Outliers have been together since before middle school, but these are the years they solidified as a group and stuck together for the rest of their lives.

May 12th 2025

“Yo, seriously. What do you guys think?”

Kwin McCall sat across from Zig-Zag at lunch but looked around at his friends to see who would answer first. Gabi sat to his right and was already halfway done with her food. She’d left her library class early to snag their favorite picnic table outside, while Harlo, Zig, Kwin and Jonah walked from the annex to get their food.

“Zig with a vlog channel?” Harlo asked, opening his bag of chips and dumping them on his tray.

“No, about starting a porn channel… Yes, the vlog.”

“Fuck it,” Kwin shrugged, twisting the cap from his water bottle. “You’re more interesting than half the people who have a lot of followers.”

Zig stared across at him down the rim of his glasses, gaging whether Kwin was being serious. When Zig realized he meant it, he nodded, “Thanks Kwin.”

“Don’t let it go to your head,” Jonah chuckled.

Kwin’s mother always packed him a water bottle for lunch, whether he had a meal to go with it or ate from the cafeteria. Three days a week he trained at Knox’s Dojo after school- the water bottles she loaded him up with every day were a measure to ensure he stayed hydrated. In the past few weeks, she’d started packing extra for Jonah. Kwin handed the boy to his left a water, which his friend accepted graciously. Harlo nudged Zig in his side and smiled with a mouth full of pizza.

“You can get the new celebrity here to guest star, probably pump your views up.”

“In the porn or the vlogs?” Zig smirked.

“I don’t see why you can’t do both,” Jonah suggested.

“Oh, look at that, Zig,” Kwin nodded to Harlo with a slight smile, “You don’t even need followers, you’ve got your own biggest fan right here.”

“Oh, we’re sorry, are you not used to being all big and famous yet?” Gabi feigned ignorance.

Last month, Kwin’s grandfather brought the boy out to a red carpet premiere and to do interviews with him in support of a new movie, The Package Boy- a horror film Sam McCall wrote and produced. The main character of that movie, Joseph, was heavily inspired by Kwin himself, so Sam invited his grandson along for some publicity and a few minutes in the spotlight. Thinking back on it, he had the sneaking suspicion that Sam pulled him out of school that week for the press run as some kind of gesture. A “Hey, sorry I’m not around much and never really talk to you, how’d you like to be on TV?” sort of gesture. Kwin didn’t care for it in hindsight. Especially since his friends wouldn’t let him forget it.

“Oh, come on, Kwin,” Harlo grinned. “You were a natural out there. You’ve got a future, I can see it!”

“Three Pines Middle School’s first celebrity alumni,” Zig-Zag bucked his eyebrows.

Gabi pulled out her phone. “I’ve been meaning to check back on that, by the way.”

“Check on what?” Jonah leaned forward and craned his neck to get a better look. Kwin rolled his eyes when he realized Jonah was goading him.

“To see how much attention our Kwinjamin here is really getting.”

Kwin hated that nickname, but couldn’t get mad at Gabi. Being friends since primary school got her a lot of mileage. “You don’t have to check on that.”

“Sure I do. Let’s see, I don’t wanna check the official video’s comments. The only people commenting about you on that vid are middle aged housewives talking about how much more well-mannered you are than their kids. Oh and pushy movie nerds talking about how the horror genre is dead.”

“That’s not the kind of pumping up our boy needs,” Zig agreed, staring at Kwin with an appraising look. “Yeah, go where the teenagers hang out on the Internet, see what all the hype about our boy here is about.”

“Got it,” Gabi snapped her fingers. “Kenny Mischief covered the news.”

“Wow, he did?” Kwin leaned over to inspect the phone. Zig snorted.

“Talk about worthless vloggers.”

“I’ll have you know, Zig-Zag, that Mister Mischief has quite the teen following,” Gabi tutted.

“Don’t remind me.”

Gabi cleared her throat and loosened her shoulders before sitting up straight. “Lisa Lee says: ‘That dude’s grandkid looks like that? Social media stalking intensifies’. Charlotte Hermes commented: ‘I wish boys at my school were that cuuuute’. She added the weary emoji face too,” Gabi pointed down at the phone and stared up at Kwin with an appraising stare.

“I really hope these comments are from, y’know, people our age. Cause this could get weird,” Zig chuckled.

“You made your point, yeah?” Kwin laughed. Jonah glanced up at him, able to read his embarrassment in a heartbeat.

“Mm, I have, but now I’m just having fun. Lucky Babe commented: Does he come with the tickets? Tracey Two-Step Smith says: ‘Oh he’s cute for a white boy… And a Ginger’. A heated race debate ensued in the replies over that one,” Gabi chuckled. She set the phone down on the table. “Okay, now I’m done.”

“Told you you’re a ginger,” Harlo laughed.

“I’m not… Douchebag,” Kwin threw a chip at Harlo, who caught against his chest and popped it into his mouth. “Gross.”

“When are you going to accept your people, Kwin?” Zig asked, eager to continue this long-running debate.

“My hair’s blonde.”

“Eh, reddish blonde,” Jonah shrugged.

“Hey, you’re drinking my water, you’re supposed to back me up.”

“Just accept it so you can move on, Kwin. We need to settle it,” Harlo shrugged. “Closure once and for all.”

“You want me to prove it?” They stared at him questioningly until he stood up and unhooked his belt with a daring smile. “I swear, I will. I’ll give you some closure you’ll never forget.”

“Oh, God, please don’t,” Gabi smacked Kwin’s leg.

“Please do! Wait, I need to get the camera out first,” Zig rooted in his bag for his new DSLR. “We can get this vlog started off right now.”

“Kwin, what are you doing?” Jonah laughed.

“Whaddaya say, Harlo? Should we settle it? Get three coffins ready,” Kwin dramatically shifted his gaze to Gabi and unzipped his fly for full effect. “My mistake. Four Coffins.”

“Jonah, you said you were gonna stop letting him watch that movie,” Zig sighed.

“I did. Harlo, back down please. You know he’ll do it.”

Kwin knew Harlo well enough to know he always buckled first in any game of chicken. Especially games like this. Some of the other middle schoolers in the courtyard glanced in their direction, but Kwin was undeterred. In fact, it sort of thrilled him. He locked eyes with Harlo.

“Okay, okay,” Harlo held his hands over his eyes.

“Say I’m not a ginger,” Kwin smirked.

“You’re not a ginger, geez. You are crazy, though.”

“Crazy’s okay. I can handle crazy,” Kwin zipped and buckled back up, feeling triumphant.

“You’re the worst,” Jonah shook his head yet was couldn’t hide his smile. Knowing how to best get to Jonah, Kwin wrapped an arm around him, laying his head on his friend’s shoulder with a contented sigh.

“Yeah, but I couldn’t be the worst without my best,” Kwin patted Jonah’s shoulder even as Zig-Zag snapped a photo.

“You guys are just so cute,” Zig lilted.

“So wait a second,” Harlo pointed a fork at Zig. “Your mom paid you to help her out at the camp, right? The all girls camp?”

“Cool your jets, I worked in the main office.”

“Right, and the first thing you buy with your money is a fancy camera? That wasn’t a red flag for her?”

“Ha, very funny, Harlo. She helped me pick it out. I told her vlogging was gonna be my new hobby. And Gabi helped me buy it, too.”

“Yeah, so be careful what you do with, or we’ll both go down for the crime.”

“What’d your mom say about your vlogging idea?” Kwin asked around a mouthful of chips. Zig shrugged.

“She said it’s better than getting to high school and selling weed. For some reason she thinks that was my fate.”

“Still a red flag,” Harlo smiled.

“Oh! Speaking of,” Gabi pointed an accusing finger at Zig-Zag, whose eyes grew wide.

“What’s with people pointing at me today?”

“Outlier Court is in session,” Gabi narrowed her eyes.

“Yo, can she just call a trial in session by herself?”

“I thought she was the judge,” Kwin shrugged and took a bite of pizza.

Outlier Court held a very special purpose in their friend group: It was their way of calling each other out on transgressions. “Hit us,” Jonah said, dramatically pushing his food to the side and steeping his fingers.

“We’re Outliers, right?” Everyone agreed. “So we’re all of the understanding that we don’t do basic shit.” Gabi dramatically enunciated her words, which meant this case was already closed. Kwin looked from Zig to Gabi in anticipation, his mouth full food. Gabi set her arms on the table, lips pressed in a thin line.

“What’d I do?” Zig shrugged.

“Oh, I think I know what this is,” Harlo laughed around food, using a hand to cover his mouth. His eyes squinted with joy. “Sorry, bud. I was gonna ignore it.”

“But that’s not how we correct the behavior is it, Harlo?” Gabi continued. Kwin was confused. Jonah voiced that confusion.

“Somebody explain it for Kwin, he’s lost.”

“If we are, in fact, Outliers, and we’re already past basic, annoying phone etiquette… Explain to me, Zig-Zag Sutter, why I’ve been woken up the past two mornings with mirror selfies from you. In the group chat of all places,” Gabi admonished.

“That’s right!” Kwin slapped the table. Some of the other kids in the courtyard glanced back their way.

“I was wondering what that was about,” Jonah nodded.

“Yo, everybody relax. There’s a perfectly good explanation for it.”

“The court would like to hear it,” Gabi crossed a leg over her knee and folded her hands, the picture of professionalism.

“You guys know I’ve lost a lot of weight-,”

“All of it,” Harlo corrected.

“And I like to show it off - shut up- but I can’t do it just anywhere cause I’ll get clowned. Nobody cares so I gotta vent where people do care,” Zig-Zag shrugged.

“Well we don’t care either,” Jonah shrugged.

“Sure as hell not six in the damn morning.” Gabi added.

“There’s also, like two more reasons. One, it’s everybody’s wake-up text.”

“I’d rather have a regular text, though,” Kwin smiled.

“Also, I kinda like showing off how much better I look by the time I get to school compared to when I just wake up,” Zig flashed a rare grin.

“You look trash when you wake up,” Kwin chuckled.

“Yo, will you relax?”

“You look trash now, too,” Jonah added. The group’s laughter unfortunately spread to Harlo, who was in the process of drinking milk. He instantly coughed it back up and sent the liquid spraying in all directions, thought most of it ended up on his face. The group roared louder as Harlo wiped his face with his shirt, still shaking with laughter.

Summary: When Rose Tyler was little, she always wrote a Christmas wish list to Father Christmas. As she grew older, the wish list became more of a letter to someone she could confide in once a year, but she fell out of the habit somewhere along the way. Now, as a new mum, celebrating her daughter’s first Christmas, Rose takes up writing her Christmas letter to Father Christmas once again.

Rose’s Christmas letters are excerpts from her life with her beloved Tentoo and their children in Pete’s World, written once a year, for each of 31 years.

Dear Father Christmas,

Rose Tyler, Defender of the Earth. That’s me! (Somehow it always sounds grander when the Doctor says it, though.)

It’s been so brilliant this past year to get back out in the field and feel like I’m making a difference. There’s nothing quite like that feeling of saving the world. Yeah, the Doctor and I have our TARDIS, and we go travelling all around the universe on the weekends, visiting all sorts of places and times with Hope, Charlie, and Wilfred. But it isn’t quite like it used to be when it was just the Doctor and me, yeah, living by the seats of our pants, leaping from one adventure to the next.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s still an adventure! Especially getting to watch the brood learn about all of space and time. When the time comes, the TARDIS will be theirs to inherit, and they need to be armed with all the knowledge they can possibly cram into those bigger-on-the-inside brains of theirs. It’s just… I know it sounds mental, but I miss the danger; the adrenaline rush; that thrill that comes of well… saving the Universe and barely escaping with your own life.

It’s strange really, because, of the two of us, you’d think it would be the Doctor who was missing experiencing that high. But it turns out he’s really enjoying tinkering and experimenting at Torchwood for the time being, and he’s so involved with the kids’ educations. Sometimes he comes on missions with me (those are the best missions, running with his hand in mine!) and the kids stay with their Gran and Grandad, but he’s mostly content to do the school run and go to work at Torchwood, these days.

I think a big part of it is him wanting to make sure that at least one of us is safe at all times. I get that. This spring, a laser from a skittish, crash-landed Jumjumut grazed my left shoulder as I was diving for cover. It hit very close to my heart. We actually lost one of our operatives on that mission, before we had a chance to subdue the alien. Isabel Stokes was a good woman, single mum of two. Fortunately, her parents were able to step in and look after her babies, but it really struck home: my job can sometimes be very dangerous.

The Doctor held onto me really tight when I got home the next night. He made love to me like he was etching the memories in his mind. Maybe he was. He never asked me not to return to work though, but in the morning, he passed me my travel mug of coffee and told me he loved me. Then he told me to come home safe. What could I say to that? I just kissed him and whispered in his ear, “I’m never going to leave you.”

That’s become our morning ritual since that day.

On my birthday, this year, he gifted me with my very own sonic. A gorgeous sonic wristwatch, programmed with all the settings of his screwdriver. He said it would make him feel better knowing I had it at my disposal, because you never know… I guess if he couldn’t be there himself, a sonic he had crafted was the next best thing.

Life’s been busy. Most of the missions weren’t dangerous at all. They weren’t even proper missions at all. A lot of the time, I was just checking in with pensioners who thought they’d seen a UFO. We had to follow up, of course, because you never know. Usually, though, it was the things hidden in plain view we had to watch out for. Tracking those babies down sometime took days. There were times when I had to miss some of our excursions on the TARDIS, which broke my heart, but the Doctor managed on his own with the brood.

But I had never yet missed an important occasion: I had made it home for birthdays anniversaries, concerts, recitals, holidays, the whole bit. I even booked a month off to spend summer hols winging through space and time with the loves of my life.

But here I am, Christmas Eve, stuck on a stakeout in Cape Town waiting for some well-known alien arms smugglers, the Dintashi, to try to make a deal with a rebel group of Sontarans who have been hiding out on Earth for the last month. They’d thought Earth was a dead-end planet with limited knowledge of extraterrestrial life, and for the most part, they were right. They liked it for its extensive communications networks, though: easy to tap into. Also, easy for us to trace once we figured out what we were looking for. They’d underestimated Torchwood and we’ve been watching, waiting for this deal to go down.

Unfortunately, I drew the short straw for the week over the Christmas period. I’m scheduled to be here five more days, which means, if I’m very lucky, I’ll be home in time to ring in the New Year at the Annual Vitex New Year’s Gala.

I have to tell you Santa, stakeouts are mind-numbingly dull. We know something is going to happen soon. It’s just coordinating terrestrial and extraterrestrial calendars can be a bit dodgy sometimes so, a lot of the time we have to wait, and play it by ear.

Me and my partner, Arjun Sreeram have worked together on loads of cases. We train together, so we know each other pretty well. We’re camped out in a vacant flat across the street from the Sontarans’ building. He’s just gone out for a coffee run, and I’m sitting here by the window dictating this diary. I have to keep this thing private, though. I’d never hear the end of it if Arjun ever found out I still write to Santa every year. Oh, I see him. He’s coming back. I gotta go!

Hi Santa, I’m back. I hope you didn’t think I’d forgotten or something. I just didn’t get a chance to finish my story until now. Hope you had a happy Christmas!

Where did I leave off? Right, I was waiting for Arjun to come back to our flat. It took him a bloody long time to come up the stairs, and by the time he got there, I was famished, hungry enough to down the lukewarm coffee and rather disgusting egg salad sandwich he brought me in a few gulps (better that way, anyway, so I could barely taste it.)

Right then, I got a ping on my mobile. It was the Doctor. Arjun said he’d be fine doing surveillance if I wanted to take the call. The best part was it wasn’t just a call! It was a videochat! From Yultidia, nonetheless! The kids and the Doctor were at the top of the snowtubing hill. They were just about to go down and had wanted me to join them very badly. They decided if I couldn’t be there in person, I could at least be there virtually. The Doctor shouted “Allons-y, Rose Tyler,” and we were off down the hill. It was wonderful to hear their shrill, little voices, screeching in delight, and see the big grins on all their faces as they went careening down the hill, but it was all I could do to hold back my tears. I wanted to be there with them more than anything!

“We’ll call back later,” the Doctor told me, “to say goodnight.” And then he said, “Rose Tyler−” And the line went dead.

I tried really hard not to dwell on the memories that that unfinished sentence dredged up, because I knew exactly what the call cutting out meant: something was about to go down.

Arjun argued with me. I told him to shut it and just keep an eye on things. Any people walking by, cars moving. Anything. Even a stray animal. He kept insisting he saw nothing amiss, no sign of a transmat anywhere in the vicinity. But I knew. I’d sonicked my mobile so it would drop everything at any sign of a transmat within a 50 kilometre radius. And that’s just what happened.

I don’t know why I did it (some instinct niggling in the back of my mind, I guess, that prickle of suspicion you just can’t ignore) but I surreptitiously peered out over Arjun’s shoulder just as two lean bodies slipped into the shadows around the side of the Sontarans’ building. It was the Dintashi, I was sure of it, even though they looked perfectly human. The Dintashi were well known for using Shimmers. Arjun had to have noticed, and he hadn’t bothered to tell me. Something was very, very wrong.

I confronted him, and he got this really scary look on his face. Accused me of messing things up for him, saying that I should have just kept my nose out of it. He even pointed his gun at me. I didn’t really have time for his crap, to be honest. I needed to catch the two the Dintashi and the Sontarans across the street. But now, I realized, I had absolutely no back up.

We had two other operatives in the flat below, but there’d been no communication from them since Arjun had come back from the coffee run… And then it clicked. It had taken him an awful long time to come up the stairs... I had to assume he had subdued them, and now I didn’t know if they were alive, dead, or incapacitated, or maybe even involved in this scam somehow. Whatever the case, they certainly weren’t going to be around to help me.

Arjun aimed the gun at my head. I was so frightened, Santa! I just kept the images of my laughing children and husband replaying in my mind as I moved toward him. If this turned out to be the last thing I would ever do, I wanted that to be my final thought. Them. Always them. Only them. Forever.

Sorry, Santa. Give me a mo’. I’m crying again. I promised I wouldn’t do that…

Anyway, so he’s pointing the gun at my head, and I knew I had to do something unexpected. Arjun knows the way I fight. But there was one thing he wouldn’t be expecting. I activated my sonic, and pointed it at him. It shone an incredibly strong light in his eyes, temporarily blinding him. While he was reeling from that, I knocked him out cold with a solid lead punch right to the side of his neck, just behind his ear, and once he was down, I kicked the gun from his hand.

Of course, I confiscated all his weapons, but I just left him there, unconscious, ‘cause frankly, I needed to focus on apprehending the Dintashi and Sontarans. I called Dad as I ran down the stairs. Told him to mobilize anything in the area. But he said it would be a while before anyone could get to me. They were all a few kilometres out. He also ordered me to wait before engaging. Well, I’ve never been one to follow orders and if I didn’t act, the weapons exchange would go down, unhindered, and then where would we be? Earth would be getting a reputation for being a place for holding these sorts of transactions. It was dangerous and needed to be nipped in the bud.

Still, as much as I wanted to go in there and take them all down, myself, I do have a bit of common sense. I’m pretty good at my job. I can be tough and have good combat skills. Dad wouldn’t have given me the position of Field Commander if I hadn’t been good. But that also means I know when I’m in over my head. This was one of those times. I might have been able to handle just the Dintashi, but the Sontarans were another matter.

But I wasn’t just going to let this go. And there was only one person I could call on who I knew could help me, and be here right away. My Doctor.

I quietly snuck into the room where the aliens were negotiating the details of their transaction (they weren’t that hard to find with my sonic), and sent the Doctor a signal from there so he could easily lock onto it. They heard it, of course, and turned to face me. One of the Sontarans shouted at the Dintashi something along the lines of “…you assured us we wouldn’t be interrupted…” He had his rifle pointed at the arms dealers who looked like they were making to transmat out of there. I shouted for them to stop. They couldn’t escape now! Then, before I could react, another of the Sontarans fired at me with his disruptor rifle.

Unprepared, I went down. All I remember is the disruptor blast cutting across my torso, dropping me, and everything started to go black. I could just make out the sound of the TARDIS, and in my mind, I clung to my vision of the laughing faces of my family, smiling at me.

The next couple of days were hazy. I kept trying to fight out of the darkness but it kept sucking me back under, and always before it did, I would see my family grinning at me as they snowtubed in Yultidia. I didn’t know why, but I just knew I had to hold on to that image.

Then I remember seeing the Doctor. It was only for a second. The lights were so bright and he was all back lit with spiky hair and his face in dark shadow, but I could see his eyes. They were full of the aftermath of the Oncoming Storm: so unsettled and sad. I was falling under again, the darkness claiming me, and suddenly his hand grabbed mine and his thoughts washed through me. I love you. Come home safe.

And I told him I’d never leave him.

I finally woke up properly yesterday in the medical facilities at Torchwood. I’d missed Christmas entirely, and ruined it for my family. They were all staying on cots in empty rooms nearby. They’d decorated my room with a tree and garland (even some of that garish stuff from Yultidia!) All the presents were tucked under the tree. No one had opened even one. I feel so guilty about that.

We’re going to open them tonight, though. I wasn’t up to it yesterday, but I’m feeling a bit better today. Turns out the disruptor broke several of my ribs and sliced open my abdomen. My intestines had to be stitched back together, but the doctors couldn’t do much for my uterus. They did a hysterectomy, saving as much as they could. We hadn’t been planning on having more babies, but now that the choice has been taken away from me, I feel a bit empty. I was told I had been very lucky that no other major organs were involved, though. So I’ll just have to keep focussing on that.

The Doctor had taken the Sontarans and the Dintashi to Torchwood for questioning and to be kept in detention there. The Dintashi, not unexpectedly, have a ship close by and a contingent is expected to arrive to negotiate for the release of the prisoners. Being a rogue faction, the Sontarans are on their own. Back in the Prime Universe, the Doctor would have handed them directly to the Shadow Proclamation, but he hasn’t done much research into that organization’s presence in this universe, yet. Until he does, the Sontarans will remain prisoners of Torchwood. Arjun is in lock up. He’ll probably be retconned after a thorough interrogation. The other operatives he (thankfully) only incapacitated are back home, recovering with their families.

As for being Defender of the Earth… I think I’ll be quite happy to lead a quieter life for a while, not that I’ll have much of a choice until I’m properly healed up, which could take some time. Anyway, the title doesn’t seem so grand anymore, even from the Doctor’s lips. For now, the greatest adventure I want to have is spending time with my family, and always holding onto each memory as though it’s going to be my last.

27. “It’s three in the morning, what could you possibly want?”

2025

“It’s three in the morning, what could you possibly want?” Ben asked groggily, turning over to give Leslie a quick glance. Yeah, she was sound asleep. She was sound asleep and snoring, which actually was good considering she’d probably only gotten three hours of sleep the night before.Then he turned back and gave ten-year-old Wesley a more thorough look as the pre-teen stood next to the bed, staring at him through his glasses. He looked upset and Ben quickly sat up.

“What’s wrong?” He whispered, not wanting to wake Leslie up unless it was a full-blown emergency.

His son’s rumpled pajamas had stripes on them instead of puppies or soccer balls, but it still wasn’t too much of a stretch to see him as the little boy he was just a few years ago. Small and scared and unable to go back to sleep after a scary dream.

“I couldn’t sleep,” Wes answered quietly.Ben frowned. Now if one of the triplets couldn’t sleep, there were certainly enough diversions around their house–toys, Gryzzzl pads, books, etc. And really, the last time he was woken up by a child with a nightmare was…well, just last year. It was Sonia and Leslie handled that with a midnight cookie baking session and some girl talk.

“You know,” Ben whispered, sitting up and swinging his legs over the sides of the bed. “Monsters aren’t real and no matter what your mom says, there is no Kale Demon. That’s just–”

“No, dad, I know. I’m not a baby.”

“Alright,” Ben agreed. “What’s going on then?”

Wes sighed and kind of shrugged. “I don’t know. I just couldn’t sleep and I wanted to see if you were up.”

“I’m up now,” Ben nodded.

Wes nodded too but made no effort to say anything else or go back to bed.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

Wes kind of shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“Oh Hillary, of course I’d like more pancakes. Ben, where’s your pancake bill?” Leslie sleep-talked next to him.

Ben turned to pat Leslie lightly on the hip. “Right here, babe. It’s okay. Enjoy your pancakes,” he whispered and then turned back to Wes, “Let’s go downstairs so we don’t wake mom up from her pancake party with Hillary Clinton.”

Once in the kitchen, Ben turned to his son. “Want a grilled cheese?”

“With spinach,” Wes added, already looking for some plates.

He nodded and grabbed the bread and a pan. “Get the get the cheese and spinach and butter out of the fridge.”

A few minutes later, the two were standing near the kitchen counter, splitting a sandwich and a pile of baby carrots.

“So, grandpa?” Wes started, looking down at his plate. “Mom’s dad. He died, right?”

“Yeah,” Ben confirmed. “A long time ago, when she was…” he trailed off. Oh. Is that what this was about?

“Ten,” Wes finished, staring at his glass of milk. “Like me.”

“Yeah,” Ben answered. “But–”

“So, that’s really a thing that could happen? You could die?” Wes still wasn’t looking at him but he heard the boy’s voice crack.

He rubbed his forehead. “It’s a thing that could happen, but it’s not going to happen.”“You don’t know that,” Wesley argued back.

They’d already discussed death a bit with the kids, thanks to an unfortunate situation with the kids’ second grade class’s hamster, but they hadn’t really had to go into specifics before. And definitely none of the triplets had ever wondered about the loss of a parent.

Ben considered his possible answers. He could insist that yes, that was a thing he could know for sure, and that there was no way he was dying for a very long time and that was the end of it. Or, he could try to be honest and positive and make sure Wesley knew how much he loved him.

“Wesley, I love you very much,” Ben started.

“Oh my god, dad! Are you dying?”

“What? No! No. No, I am not dying. I’m just saying that I love you very much. Because I do.”

Wes smiled just a little. “I know. I love you too.”

“Good. Um, and yes, sometimes bad things can happen but, we can’t spend our lives worrying about them all the time. Because then you waste so much time being unhappy and scared, that you miss out on all the good stuff.”

“Okay,” Wesley answered, still sounding a bit skeptical.

“Like splitting a grilled cheese with your son–”

“But, dad–”

“Alright now that I’ve said that, I realize we’re doing this because you were up and worried. But I was asleep and not worried, and now I’m having this moment with you. Um, okay, how about this–you miss out on getting a good night’s sleep and dreaming about pancake parties like your mom. Or going to the model train museum in La Porte.“

“Yeah, I want to go there,” Wes answered, munching on a carrot.

“I know. Why don’t you and I drive up there this weekend and check it out.”

“Really? But I thought we had to go to that picnic for mom’s campaign thing?”

Ben shrugged, “I think mom, Stephen, and Sonia can handle the official picnic appearance. We can sneak up state instead and explore the museum. We can hit the Steam Engine Museum too.”

“And get t-shirts?” We asked.

“No, I think we’ll go to a museum and not get shirts,” Ben made a face that quickly turned into a smile. “Of course we’ll get t-shirts. From both places. Maybe we can pick up some new models too and set them up on the track.”

The model train track in question was still in various stages of being unpacked after they had relocated mainly back to Pawnee for Leslie’s run at governor.

Finally, Ben got a real smile from his son. And then a hug.

“I love you. Don’t die,” Wesley said.

“I promise you that I’m always going to do everything that I possibly can not to,” Ben assured his son.

The intern and the first prodigy

Characters: Peter Parker, Harley keener, Tony Stark, Mj

Peter crossed his arms as he was standing out on the landing on the stark tower. It wasn't dangerous, no matter how many times Pepper tried to tell him it was. He came to get fresh air after what happened in the lab. It was a lot to process. It seemed like Harley was hitting on him but he wasn't too sure if he was being completely honest. He stared out to the skyline. He could press a button on his web shooters and he could jump off the landing and swing off away from this awkward day.

"Hey loser." Mj said as she stepped out. She always popped up exactly when peter needed her.

"Hey, why aren't you with Ned?"

"Him and mrs. Stark are making the sauce for the pizza I was kicked out because I kept giving Morgan candy." She smirked. "That kid." She says nodding towards inside. "Loves me."

"Yeah she likes you a lot." Peter nodded smiling at his ex girlfriend.

"Why are you out here brooding?" She stood right next to him and nudged him with her shoulder.

"Just a stupid conversation that happened." Peter shook his head not wanting to think about. He looked st Michelle who was staring at him. "I'm not telling you what he said. It was weird."

She nudged him again. "Come on mister I can't keep my identity." She teased with affection. She stopped seeing his expression and softened immediately. She intertwined their fingers. "You can talk to me. I'm here."

Peter looked at their hands. Holding her left hand with his while her right arm around him. "I know."

"It won't be awkward, don't think of me as your ex girlfriend. Just a friend who's worried. You told me you didn't know what you attracted to and I let you break up with my to figure that out, and I'm gonna hold your hand through it the whole time." She smiled warmly.

"He called me a bottom." Peter looked at her. "He called me a pretty boy. And called my a bottom because he figured out that you asked me out because I was too chicken."

"Well it was mutual."

"I tried to tell him that!" He whined and she smiled a bit. "But he didn't believe me."

"Well I mean if we're being honest here. You kinda are a bottom sometimes." She teased him and kissed the side of his head. "He's just teasing you. Getting a rise out of you."

"I know and I can't stop myself from letting people do that to me."

"I think he's into you."

"What no he's not. He's not into me. Your very funny."

As he was trying to just let the day go one. Working with Harley and tony in the lab. He couldn't help but notice small things. When he'd asked Harley to pass him a tool Harley's fingers would linger for a second, Harley always making up an excuse to pass behind peter. Or reach over peter and always be in his personal space. Peter was a blushing mess all day. He usually had a rosy look to hi cheek but he was red. His ears burning and always catching glances at Harley while he lifted things that would flex his muscles nicely. Peter was so fair from just being straight he was now realizing.

"Mr. stark, there is an issue with a delivery, mrs stark requires your assistance." Friday announced.

Greeted with a long groan. Tony put down his tools. "Tell her I'll be right there." Tony left the lab quickly. Leaving the two hormone ridden teens alone unsupervised.

Peter had his nose in his work not looking up from it. He wasn't going to start anything. Knowing tony wouldn't be too happy with his two prodigies going at it. He was writing and chewing on the end of his own.

"Does your mouth do anything else other than ruin pens?" The slightly older male asked very boldly. "Assuming your not still pure."

Peter swallowed the lump in his throat to answer. "Why don't you ask my girlfriend? She seems to enjoy it." He shot back attempting to be flirty.

"So bold for a taken man, apparently." Harley mumbled out as he rises peters chin to meet his gaze. "This girlfriend no longer complicated?"

"No still complicated, just a little less so now."

"Committed?"

"With exception."

"Like?" He raised an eye brow.

"We're not really together at the moment, but she broke up with me to let me figure out my sexuality."

Harley's face faltered for a second from cocky and lust filled eyes to wondering and shocked. "Questioning?"

"Not so much, more like knowing and needing to get out needs with a guy, or a slightly over compensating 18 year old." Peter says. He was so far out of his comfort zone. But he'd be dammed if he was going to be Harley's bitch.

"Oh needing do you say?" He asked. "Well how about tomorrow night my room after 9." He whispered into peters ear lowly. He took one second to lightly lick his ear before going back to his work station.

Peter was screaming internally. His innocent energy hated that. Peter felt so wrong acting like that but at least he got somewhere with it.

"I told you he was into you." Mj says as she sat on peters bed with him. Ned has gone home and May was out working the last shift.

"I said "ask my girlfriend she seems to enjoy it." Why did I say that." Peter cringed at himself.

Mj sat up more. "G-girlfriend?" She asked her voice much different than her normal confident self. It was small, hopeful. As much as she wanted and knew she needed to let peter decide who he was. She was still in love with him she cared so deeply.

"Oh I um." Peter looked down. "If you wanted. But I didn't want to subject you to anything you weren't comfortable with. I said it in the moment."

"It's 2025. If you wanna be together and also see where this stuff with Harley goes I don't care." She says smiling a bit. "I really miss kissing you just saying."

"Really?"

"Yeah, you know I need a lot of attention and I can only really get it from you and Ned. I can't kiss Ned he's like a brother."

"So we're together again?" Peter asked looking at her and just smiling. Mj kissed his cheek to answer his question
