It hit me like a sack of bricks today that the Junoverse characters don't know that they're queer. They aren't really queer, within their own cultural framework-- queerness only exists relative to norms they don't have. They don't know what homophobia or transphobia are. They're just free. What a beautiful thought.

#obviously this is pretty straightforwardly part of the premise #but still #kinda just hit me that they never had to struggle with it the way many of us do #no shame!!! no shame and no having to come out and everyone immediately understanding your deal #gives me hope #like yeah obviously they're not real but seeing a queer future is so healing #there is a place for us #juno steel #the penumbra podcast
