i feel like one of the reasons tumblr users hate informing themselves is 1) the authors mostly aren't white and would feel called out and therefore uncomfortable when reading about intersectionality 2) there's this childish belief online that engaging with any content that's deemed "problematic" or just not progressive enough such as older feminist texts or queer theory is Bad and will signal the person as Bad Person to others in their online space (and this also extends to not watching any piece of media that's a little darker than a children's show) and so it creates this cycle of ignorance and an echo chamber that tumblrinas love to think only happens on tiktok, not on their beloved tumblr.

yup yup yup yup. I think miss Isematu said it all. Idk what we are going to do so people r less afraid to think n ask questions n engage w challenging things. and even when it comes to reading theory its possible n maybe even necessary to engage w all these things so you can really understand wtf things mean. like for example when I was doing my lil feminist readings when I was 21, I also took a look at the origins of r*dfem ideology (big surprise to nobody it is literally catholicism) and that helped me see the connections to white supremacy, colonialism etc and helped me define a praxis that is actually relevant to my life n material conditions. Tf does nazism for girls + catholic oppositional sexism have to do with me, a black african trans person living in the global majority? nothing! thats the stuff that came and supported the genocide and epistemicide of my community such that its like people like me never existed. which is obvs a lie. If u have no knowlege and ur poitics are all just vibes based you will become reactionary by default. emotions are very powerful but without information how will you know what youre really mad at and what needs to change?
