unfortunate thing about dynamo is that it's too inconsistent. if they bothered to make it reliably do the same thing for every swing instead of being a slot machine for every speck of paint and damage, it'd be easier to use since you know exactly what it's gonna do, rather than praying for the weapon to actually function, and it'd make sense to buff it where it needs since its always going to do that thing. also make vertical flick instakill from long range. if charger gets to do that from behind cover at an even longer range and hold it until they get a good position, dynamo deserves to kill from out in the open as long as they hit it
Yeah that's what I mean when I say they ruined rollers in this game. The way they fling ink is no longer one consistent hit but instead several randomly generated particles that often leave gaps in the hitbox. I noticed it in Carbon but using Dynamo is way easier to see and it's VERY bad for the weapon's gameplay -- The horizontal flick often if not always has a gap in the middle, right in front of the player. This makes it so that even if you react appropriately to someone who's practically in your face, you can still miss. I played splat 1 with some friends lately and Dynamo is just SO much better and consistent, it's really fun to use. It's so disappointing to see my main weapon class being disrespected like that :(

Velocicoaster? More like VelociNOster
There are a few big roller coasters in the two Universal parks we’re visiting. I have never been much of a roller coaster person. Even in high school, I just sort of tolerated them. They’re fun, but have never been something I seek out.
When you’re reading about Universal, most people rank Hagrid’s Motorbike and the Velocicoaster as their #1 and #2 (not necessarily in that order). And apparently Velocicoaster in Jurassic Park is supposed to be one of the best roller coasters in the world, so Jason and I wanted to ride it on our last day.
After looking at it, I decided to do a little research about what the ride was like before I committed to doing it. I stumbled on an article that said:
It involves not one but two 70 mph launches in three minutes, and includes some of the most ambitious and terrifying moves I’ve ever seen. There’s a “top hat” that rockets you 155 feet in the air and then immediately drops you into an 80-degree plummet, and that’s only halfway through the ride. The second half actually gets faster, and does a 360-degree horizontal barrel roll just inches above the lagoon in the center of Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
Ok. Sounds a little intense but maybe we can swing it. The author goes on to describe the anxiety that comes with the wait:
Don’t get me wrong: I love thrill rides. I’ll happily ride the Incredicoaster more than once in a Disneyland day, and regularly call Space Mountain a “baby ride.” But early reviews have called the Velocicoaster “relentless” and used phrases like “I’ll only do that once” and “don’t eat before you ride.” I wasn’t just scared to my bones. I was scared on a cellular level. Even my DNA was shaking as I entered the ride queue.
Tumblr media
Feeling less good about it…Then he finally gets around to describing his experience on the ride:
I didn’t just scream on this ride. I screamed like my soul was opening a portal to hell and there were demons escaping through me.
I beg your pardon?
The Velocicoaster is very fast and very scary, and a longer ride than it technically needs to be, especially since every second was a slow-motion, life-flashing-before-my-eyes kind of moment. The top hat looks like the scariest part, but it’s definitely not. That horizontal barrel roll thing is a truly inspired moment (eternity?) of terror, unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced on a ride before.
So that did it. This ride was not for me. I offered to wait with Jason and then bail as he got on, but he decided he’s not doing it either. This is all to say, we chickened out… and we’re totally fine with it.

The Secret to Mastering Fibonacci Retracement in Sideways Markets Imagine you're walking through a grocery store, and there's a massive sale on cheese. You rush to grab it, but then remember—you don't actually like cheese that much. That's kind of what trading without a proper strategy in a sideways market feels like: full of impulsive moves that you quickly regret. Enter Fibonacci retracement—a tool that's not just for uptrends or downtrends, but can be incredibly helpful in those "going-nowhere-fast" sideways markets. Sideways Markets and the Illusion of Movement The term "sideways market" can be deceptive. It's like trying to find meaning in a three-hour long art movie—it appears there’s movement, yet somehow, the story remains exactly where it started. While it can seem like nothing's happening, there’s actually a lot of potential for sharp-eyed traders. The trick? Knowing how to use Fibonacci retracement to identify hidden opportunities. Most traders make the mistake of thinking that Fibonacci retracement only works when prices are trending up or down—like a roller coaster. They think, "Who needs Fibonacci when we’re just chugging along in a flat market?" Well, here’s the contrarian view: Fibonacci can help you define the range and spot entry points even when the market is in its version of a boring commute—sideways but still brimming with hidden potential. Fibonacci in a Sideways Market: Hidden Gold Imagine the sideways market as a piece of good, old-fashioned lasagna. The top layers of cheese are the resistance levels, and the bottom pasta layers represent support. Fibonacci retracement helps you understand where those cheesy resistance and support levels are. And just like lasagna, it’s all about layering. Sideways markets often have deceptive little twists, and Fibonacci levels can act as guides, helping you identify those crucial horizontal levels where the market just loves to take a breather. Plot your Fibonacci lines and you'll quickly see retracement levels like the 38.2%, 50%, or 61.8% act as natural barriers. Prices may nudge them, kiss them, and then simply refuse to break through—just like your aunt refuses to let go of her lasagna recipe. The Sneaky Little Level Most Traders Miss Here's a secret most traders don't know: the 50% Fibonacci level in a sideways market is a sneaky goldmine. While it’s not a true Fibonacci number, it has an uncanny ability to show where price is likely to reverse in a sideways scenario. Think of it as the middle seat on an airplane—not the most comfortable, but incredibly important when the plane is packed and choices are limited. Using this level, you can identify areas where price action is likely to change direction, allowing for quick entry and exit opportunities in an otherwise indecisive market. Why Most Traders Get It Wrong (And How You Can Avoid It) The typical trader in a sideways market often becomes paralyzed—not knowing whether to expect a break to the upside or a dip lower. It’s like standing at an intersection without any traffic signs, constantly trying to guess if it’s safe to cross. This indecision creates opportunities for traders who use Fibonacci retracement as a compass to plot a course through the clutter. Most traders ignore these market conditions, waiting for a clear trend. They think, "No trend, no profit." But seasoned traders know there’s profit to be found—just not in the most obvious places. Using Fibonacci, the aim is to identify those price points that act as magnets, drawing prices back in like a boomerang—even as the market pretends it’s got somewhere else to be. Predict Market Moves with Precision: Practical Steps - Identify Key Swing Highs and Lows: Just like that time when you thought wearing neon socks was a good idea, it's important to note your highs and lows. For sideways markets, use Fibonacci to map out retracement levels between these peaks and valleys. - Set Your Retracement Levels: Plot the key Fibonacci levels (23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%) across the sideways range. This acts like a grid for your favorite video game—you’re planning your next move before the monsters attack. - Watch for False Breakouts: Sideways markets are notorious for head-fakes. They pretend to break out, only to scurry back within the original range. Fibonacci retracement can help identify whether a breakout is genuine or if the market’s just messing with you—again. - Target Levels for Entry and Exit: Use the 38.2% and 61.8% Fibonacci levels as target zones for entry and exit points. This technique keeps you from buying every time the price nudges upward (which, spoiler alert, usually doesn’t end well). - Be Wary of the Midpoint (50%) Level: Just like in a crowded elevator, the middle is the trickiest. The 50% level is an equilibrium where you’re equally likely to move up or down—be ready for both scenarios. The Forgotten Strategy That Outsmarted the Pros There’s something special about staying calm in a sideways market. Most traders panic, unsure if the cheese will stay on sale or disappear off the shelves forever. But seasoned traders, the ones who have been around the block a few times, know how to take advantage of the limited moves. The true key lies in patience—waiting for price to approach those key Fibonacci retracement levels and then making a decision. They also add another layer of analysis—volume. If volume is dwindling at these retracement levels, it's a hint the market isn’t committed to a move—making it the perfect opportunity for short-term profit with minimal risk. Underground Trends and Ninja Tactics Here's the ninja tactic: instead of aiming for massive profits in sideways markets, focus on smaller gains. These small profits accumulate, and before you know it, you're far ahead of that crowd still trying to decide if the sideways market is "trade-worthy." The use of tight stop-loss orders is crucial here. Fibonacci levels tell you where to expect price movement, but placing a stop-loss ensures you can minimize losses when the market decides to do something wacky—which, as we all know, is just about every other day. Emotion and Empathy: The Frustration of Sideways Markets If you’ve ever felt frustrated by sideways markets, you’re definitely not alone. It's like being in a never-ending customer service queue—you’re not sure if anyone is even still in the office, let alone if you’re getting through anytime soon. Fibonacci retracement helps with precisely this—it’s like having someone finally pick up the phone and say, "Hey, don’t worry, you’re next in line." Trading in these conditions is about more than just numbers. It's about keeping your cool when everyone else throws their hands up in defeat. It's recognizing that sometimes, the most overlooked situations—like a sideways market—have the most opportunity for profit if approached calmly and logically. Wrap-Up: Master the Art of Patience with Fibonacci Sideways markets can be challenging, frustrating, and boring, but they don’t have to be unprofitable. Using Fibonacci retracement effectively in these situations can make the difference between feeling stuck and being ahead of the curve. Remember, Fibonacci isn’t just a tool for trends; it’s the secret to navigating even the flattest stretches of the trading ocean. Incorporate these techniques, embrace small profits, use your retracement levels wisely, and watch your trading game level up. Now, go make those sideways markets your lasagna—layer by layer, trade by trade. —————– Image Credits: Cover image at the top is AI-generated Read the full article

People are doing tierlists of the grizzco weapons so here's mine. tumblrs not letting me post explanations so i'll add those later on separate posts
Tumblr media
Grizzco roller: Easy s tier. Extremely fun to use and do laps around the map while crushing any and all lesser salmonids in the way. ITs also easy to just roll on up to a teammate to revive them as you can be in and out in a couple of seconds while ALSO dealing with any salmonid swarms. The horizontal flick is pretty fast and can deal with anything that you may need precision for, like if you are on top of a Slammin lid or trying to hit a steel eel tail. There's also a vertical swing which takes a WHILE to charge, but if there's too many steelheads it could be an option to use. But most of the time you will be rolling. The ink usage is also decent, meaning that you can roll over to the shore quickly and fire a bomb at a flyfish. The only drawback with this weapon aside from the vertical swing would be that you may not be able to control its movement OR you run out of ink mid-crowd. Grizzco Blaster: Solid A tier. Stingers and fish sticks will tremble before you with how fast you can obliterate them off the face of the planet. You may have to jump to hit steelhead weak points. Other than that, its good fire rate makes getting past crowds to deal with bosses easier. Its ink usage is also pretty decent, meaning you usually won't have to worry about constantly checking your ink. Its range also makes it good for reviving teammates. Grizzco Brella: Pretty much equal to blaster, I feel. It's still really good, especially for painting, and its mid range makes it able to do all the things blaster can do except for taking down stingers and fish sticks, both of which are still easy to do with brella. It's also got the ink tank to support bomb usage when needed for maws or flyfish.

Repairs for Garage Doors by B&D
Tumblr media
A garage door is a big door on a garage that may be opened manually or with the help of an electric motor. Garage doors are often big enough to fit cars and other vehicles so it’s necessary to find Service in Repairs for Garage Doors by B&D. Small garage doors with a single panel that tilts up and back across the garage ceiling are possible. Larger doors are often constructed of many jointed panels that roll up on tracks across the garage ceiling or into a roll above the entry. To offset the weight of the door and minimise the amount of human or motor effort required to open the door, the working mechanism is spring-loaded or counterbalanced. Some garage doors glide or swing horizontally, which is less frequent.  A conventional overhead garage door would have been constructed as a one-piece panel in the past. The panel was supported on both sides by an uneven parallelogram hinge lifting mechanism. Overhead garage doors are now typically constructed from numerous hinged panels that travel along with a set of tracks guided by rollers. The door may weigh 400 lb (180 kg) or more, but it is balanced by either a torsion spring system or a pair of extension springs. A motorised garage door opener with remote control provides convenience, safety, and security.
Types
Aluminium garage doors are inexpensive, lightweight, rust-proof, and require little maintenance. They are prone to denting since aluminium is a weak material, and they are wasteful in terms of energy use because aluminium is a highly conductive substance.
Fibreglass and vinyl garage doors are composite systems with a steel core concealed beneath fibreglass or vinyl covering. They have polyurethane insulated foundation portions as well as various forms of foam insulation. These premium doors may match steel garage doors and look like wood, but they are more costly than steel units.
Steel doors, which are available in a range of sizes and designs, provide strength and security, are cost-effective, and may have optional insulating value. Two or three layers of galvanised steel with a low gauge number are offered for added strength.
Wood garage doors are attractive, but they require a lot of upkeep and can be pricey. Low-cost wood garage doors are prone to warping and breaking.
Services and Repairs
B&D Garage door repair businesses have specialised in a wide variety of garage door services, including the supply, installation, and maintenance of residential, commercial, and industrial doors, as well as spring doors, rolling doors and shutters, panels, and other door parts for manufacture. They also install and service automated door and gate openers. The service and maintain all brands and types of garage doors, gates, and motors. Customers may reach their service staff and specialists 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is suggested that doors be serviced by a trained service specialist once every 12 months to avoid major problems.
The businesses are in a good location to serve you. They can provide a no-obligation estimate if you call or contact them, and they have a crew of professional and friendly service technicians and sales personnel that embody our family-run business ideals. When your roller doors malfunction, you may rely on b&d garage door repairs providers to determine if they can be fixed or must be replaced.

My problems with the S-BLAST
This post is going to compile a lot of things I've had on my mind about the S-BLAST, and seeing as a new and really powerful kit is going to come out next season, (the S-BLAST '91 with burst bombs and the booyah bomb) this weapons going to be more relevant than ever.
The first minor thing I'd like to point out is a really really small problem. I had previously predicted that the S-BLAST '92, would get a second kit along the lines of "S-BLAST '92 Deco" or more likely something more unique like "Retro S-BLAST '92". I had also assumed that the Snipewriter 5H's second kit would be called "Snipewriter 5H Nouveau".
This is because every main weapon has an associated splashtag title part, but all weapon kits under the same main weapon share the same title part. Splattershot and Tentatek Splattershot players both use the "Splattershot User" title part and N-ZAP '85 and N-ZAP '89 players have "N-ZAP User". Only the part of the name that's shared between the two kits is used in the title part, so the title part can apply to users of both weapons. This also applies to weapons with unreleased kits! The Nautilus 47 and Bamboozler 14 Mk I are currently the only weapons by that name in Splatoon 3, yet their respective title parts are "Nautilus User" and "Bamboozler 14 User" because the Nautilus 79 and Bamboozler 14 Mk II, while both not referenced in Splatoon 3, internally or externally, are sure to come soon.
The problem is that in the updates that released the S-BLAST '92 and Snipewriter 5H, the title parts "S-BLAST '92 User" and "Snipewriter 5H User" were also released, leading me and many others to believe that their second kits would have unqiue names, and instead have names similar to the examples I gave in paragraph 2. Now that we know that these kits will be called the S-BLAST '91 and Snipewriter 5H, I really hope that Nintendo realises this and changes the names of the title parts.
All that text for a problem I said was really really small... Anways! On to my actually relevant and possibly controversial thoughts on the S-BLAST.
The Most Incongruous Design in all of Splatoon:
First off: A quick explanation of what the S-BLAST is. The S-Blast is a Blaster, obviously... It's one of few main weapons, and the first Blaster in Splatoon to exhibit 2 firing modes. It's first firing mode is short-range with a massive explosion, statistically similar to the Luna Blaster, and the second firing mode is long-range with a tiny explosion, similar to the Range Blaster.
One firing mode is activated while grounded, the other is activated while airborne. I won't tell you which is which just yet, because part of the problem with the S-BLAST is that it isn't obvious which firing mode is activated in which position.
Lets look at 2 other Splatoon weapons and a concept I've previously come up with, all of which feature multiple firing modes, to try and understand why the S-BLAST's design is inferior.
The Splat Roller's horizontal and vertical flicks are very easy to understand. The most natural motion when holding a Splat Roller would be it's namesake; holding it flat to the ground and rolling it. The most natural movement between holding a Splat Roller by your side and holding it to the ground is flicking it horizontally, so it makes sense that the horizontal flick would be the Splat Rollers firing mode while Grounded. The Splat Roller's vertical flick, while not a natural movement for a human being when obeying the laws of physics, it's an extremely common form of attack in fiction and specifically in video-games. if you play any fighting game, especially Super Smash Bros., if you play a character that primarily uses a sword (or other long weapon like a bat or axe) and attack in mid-air, they'll do an overhead swing. This kind of attack is incredibly common in video-games, so it makes thematic sense for the Splat Roller to do an overhead swing while in the air, the vertical flick.
The Squeezer is a champagne bottle. Look up a video of a champagne bottle popping; the first moment is a high power pop that send the cork and champagne flying, and after that is a steady stream of fizzing champagne. Using the Squeezer, when you hold down the ZR trigger you get a single long-range, high damage bullet, followed by a steady stream of low-range, low power bullets that land in a wide spread. This mirrors the popping of a champagne bottle 1:1, it's probably the most perfect design a Splatoon weapon can ever get! If you're familiar with the design inspiration of the Squeezer, it would come naturally to you that you'd need to tap the trigger repeatedly to get a consistent string of "pops" and that you'd need to hold the trigger to get a steady stream of bullets.
Finally, we have my own concept, a Sub weapon called the Sensor Bomb. The short unspecific explanation is, if you press R while in Swim Form, the Sensor Bomb gets deployed under your ink like an Ink Mine. If you press R while in Kid Form, the Sensor Bomb is thrown and explodes like a Point Sensor. What I think is neat about this design is that the Sensor Bomb behaves exactly how you'd expect it to. If you're under the ink, it gets placed under the ink. All other bombs and most other Sub weapons get thrown, so when you're in Kid Form with access to your arms, the Sensor Bomb also gets thrown.
Do you see a pattern with these examples? You don't really need to know the intricacies of each of these weapons to understand their firing modes. If all you're given is an image of the weapon, the 2 firing-modes and the 2 ways these firing modes are activated without knowing which activation method is for which mode, you'd be able to connect the dots without fail. The same can't be said for the S-BLAST. The S-BLAST's long-range firing mode is activated while grounded and the short-range firing mode is activated while airborne. You can make wishy-washy arguments explaining why this is the way that it is, but the reality is that you can just swap these 2 firing modes and make another argument with just as much strength behind it.
Why is the S-BLAST the way that it is?
We obviously don't know the process Nintendo used to design the S-BLAST, Nintendo is probably the least transparent game developer out there. But, I can offer an educated guess.
The S-BLAST is given it's name and appearance by the Super Scope, a successor the the N-ZAPs Nintendo Zapper that was a huge failure.
The Super Scope doesn't immediately and obviously lend itself to being translated into a weapon with multiple firing modes, but there are 2 avenues you could go down:
First, unlike the Nintendo Zapper, the Super Scope had multiple buttons. Of course, only one of these buttons would actually fire a shot, and the rest of the buttons would either pause the game, turn off the Super Scope or have a completely different effect depending on the game you were playing. This obviously doesn't give a coherent explanation as to why the S-BLAST has 2 firing modes. The S-BLASTs second firing mode could have been an arced projectile like the Explosher and it would've had just as much justification through what I'm calling the "Multiple Buttons Explanation". If this was really the primary thought process Nintendo went through, I'd be very disappointed.
Second is the explanation that I think is much more likely. The Super Scope has a scope! You could use the Super Scope with or without its Scope. Nintendo obviously advertised it as a scoped gun but people could just as easily use it unscoped so the 2 firing modes could be a reference to the 2 ways people used the Super Scope.
I believe this explanation is the case, but there are still a few problems with it.
How are people supposed to figure this out and apply this to the S-BLASTs firing modes?
The S-BLASTs model has the scope in it. The design of the weapon and the multiple firing modes would kind of make sense if you could use the scope in gameplay.
Why does jumping equate to an unscoped shot? People wouldn't jump around with the Super Scope, they'd be sitting or standing still regardless of how they used it.
If you go through this thought process in your head, sure, the S-BLASTs 2 firing modes makes some sort of sense. But it certainly isn't a good design. Imagine if the base Splat Charger had a scope and it wasn't used in gameplay. That would be insane.
One last problem I have is that the S-BLAST associates jumping and fast movement with the short range blasters, and stationary grounded play with the long range blasters, but this isn't true either! Range and Rapid Blasters jump around just as much as Luna and Clash blasters, and the S-BLAST sends the wrong message as to how Blasters should be played. Like the Splat Charger analogy, imagine if the Ballpoint Splatlings main firing mode was it's short range, inaccurate mode. All other Splatlings prioritise range over bullet spread, it would be insane if the Ballpoint Splatlings design tried to convey some other message.
What would I have done differently?
Personally, I think it's a crime to have a weapon designed after the Super Scope not use a scope in gameplay. I've thought the idea of scoped weapons should've been expanded to non-charger weapons a long time ago, and it's really frustrating that Nintendo missed such an obvious opportunity.
Like the other scoped weapons in Splatoon, the scope would slowly come into focus, but I don't think it's fair to lock the S-BLASTs long range shots behind a long start-up time. The way I see it working is that you'd hold down the ZR button, after 15 frames of start-up lag you'd fire a shot. If you keep holding down the ZR button, the screen would fade into a scope, your movement would slowed and you'd be able to continuously fire more shots. Scoped shots would have slightly more range (around 1-2 units) but would otherwise be identical to the unscoped shot.
The way you'd fire the short-range shots would be simple. Just quickly tap the ZR button. Video-games are capable of telling apart tapped and held inputs people, it's not that hard.
You could argue that this means that my new S-BLAST has 3 firing modes, (guess what, the S-BLAST had more than 2 buttons :P) but I don't consider an extra unit of range to be different enough. Do you consider the Rapid Blaster/ Splat Charger/ E-liter 4K to have a different projectile to the Rapid Blaster Pro/ Splatterscope/ E-liter 4K Scope?
I also believe that this change makes a lot more sense gameplay-wise to compliment the S-BLASTs design. The scope actually gets used and it's clear which firing mode is associated with which input. Like all other scoped weapons, you have to hold down the trigger for your long-range scoped shots. Otherwise, you have to tap the trigger for your more powerful short-range shots.
~
So, what are your thoughts on all of this? I know a lot of people love the S-BLAST the way that it is, and a lot of people don't really care about it. But the S-BLASTs design really bugs me and I have no idea if my opinions are controversial or not.

Okay here's the next round of wild fucking true stories about me strap yourselves in.
met a bone stealing witch TRUE
Look. I live near and have worked in Salem and I'm not sure this is even the weirdest person I've encountered there.
Every once in a while Salem has some kind of big glorious oddities fair, because of course it does. One year we met a woman who was selling actual fucking human remains. I asked her, because of course I did, "Hey ma'am how is it you have human bone for sale?"
She said that when people donate their bodies to science, eventually science no longer has a use for them, and sometimes those bones will end up on the market.
I said "okaaaay" and moved on with my fucking life.
Surprise surprise that lady was recently among like 4 or 5 people indicted in a scandal where a guy was stealing bodies from the Harvard Medical School Morgue.
Look, I collect bones even, but I'm deeply sus of anyone selling human bone. As one should be.
---
predicted Tom Cruise would go off the deep end while playing with Barbies TRUE
So I had this sitcom I used to stage with my Barbies. It was called City Family, Country Family. And it was about a wealthy, eccentric couple moving to a rural area to get away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood and their neighbors were simple farm folk. The storyline was your basic learning to accept each other's differences type shit, with all the nuance a 7 year old can achieve.
The city couple were Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, who were still married at the time. And who I knew nothing about, except that they were celebrities. I don't think I'd even seen any of either of their films at the time. So the way I chose to portray Tom Cruise was... unhinged. He would occasionally believe he'd become imbued with superpowers. He would run around in his underwear. He tried to jump off his roof because he thought he could fly and became severely injured. Nicole Kidman was his voice of reason.
I would go on to feel so fucking vindicated later on during Tom Cruise's public fall from grace.
---
my beloved childhood toy had his own secret service TRUE
When I was growing up I had a plush lion named Leo who went everywhere with me. He was my best friend. He had a strong persona-- gruff, sarcastic, quick-tempered, but loyal, with a gravelly voice. He had a propensity to maul people who made light of him, which tended to involve me shoving him in people's faces. So important was he as a part of my life that he would receive his own stocking and gifts for Christmas. My first Beanie Baby technically belongs to him-- a Valentino bear I called "Bean."
In light of his significance to me I arbitrarily decided that he was the President of our School. Some of the kids legitimately went along with this.
Among them was a classmate who personally volunteered as his secret service agent. This wasn't needed often, but once when a bully threw Leo into the pond, this is the kid who swam out and got him.
---
have been injured on no less than 5 theme park rides FALSE
Actually it was only 3.
On one of those fairground kiddie roller coasters the carnie did not strap me in well enough, and I bruised up my hips and ankles getting bounced around and desperately trying not to get flung out.
This is the worst one. Six Flags New England used to have one of those rides that... like, it's a flat car that stays horizontal while an arm swings it around in a circle? Do you know what I mean? Anyway tiny me and my equally tiny friend were sat in one row, when another guy in the row behind us was told there were too many people in their row and one of them had to move up with us. Of course they move the biggest guy, and the only thing that holds you into that ride is a lap bar. I spent the entire ride being flung gut-first into the lap bar.
One 4th of July I ended up drunk at a carnival and my friend talked me into getting on the Zipper. You know the bitch? I never would've done it sober, I don't like being upside down. I hurt my back bad.
I do not like rides.
---
wrote an episode of the Magnus Archives TRUE
While only dubiously canonical, the bonus episode "TMA Fluff - Epiphany" was written by me as part of a Patreon writing contest and later released to the main feed during one of the Season 5 breaks. It's my pride and joy and I'll answer questions about it at any time.
I also met some of my best friends in the world after writing that.
Here's the Wiki page with audio and transcript link.
---
owns no less than 3 prehistoric teeth TRUE
I was gonna take a pic but I can't find all of them right now. Anyway I have a spinosaur tooth, a mosasaur tooth, and a megalodon tooth. Spinosaur and mosasaur teeth aren't too expensive if you know where to look, and I got a good deal on the megalodon because it was broken in half. I don't care though, I just love fossils.
---
staff at the International Cryptozoology Museum tried to convince me to go pro TRUE
I grew up watching Unsolved Mysteries, Sightings, and Leonard Nimoy's In Search Of with my dad. This explains pretty much everything about me, up to and including my lifelong fascination with the paranormal, pseudoscience, and Fortean phenomena.
This past October I treated myself to a solo vacation to Maine. I stayed in a haunted inn and visited the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland. It's small, but it's fun, especially if you have an interest in this stuff already.
After my visit I was browsing the gift shop trying to decide what to treat myself to. I went breathless over the reproduction bigfoot track castings and wound up getting one of the Bluff Creek tracks (from the famous Patterson-Gimlin film). I was so visibly passionate and well read on the subject that the staff members present encouraged me to get in touch with the Massachusetts cryptozoological field research team.
Unfortunately they didn't give me a business card and I do not remember who they told me to talk to.
---
spell check used to be the coolest thing I'd ever seen TRUE
As an older millennial I am part of the Family Computer generation.
Our earliest family computer was one of those big bulky deals that sat on a tower and ran on DOS. It was all green and black, had a dot matrix printer, and its only programs were a basic word processor, a calculator, and it could play Yahtzee. Okay it might've been able to do a couple other things but that's all I remember.
And then in the mid-90s we upgraded to a machine that ran Windows 95.
It blew my tiny mind. Wow, it was so fast! It could do so many different things! It had colors! It had 4 games! It had the internet, and the internet had so much porn on it! Wow!
But one of the coolest things to me as a budding young writer was that it came with Microsoft Word, which had the spell check function. This innovation was so amazing to me that on the first day I sat there and wrote out a story intentionally misspelling every word just so I could see the program in action.
On a totally unrelated note, I've not yet been formally diagnosed with autism, but there are signs.
---
I have clear memories from when I was 2 TRUE
My mom insists that this is not possible, but there's some things that are so clear in my head.
I remember being brought to a wedding and standing on my dad's shoes while he held my tiny hands so he could dance with me. Mom insists I only remember this because I saw it in the picture. But seeing the picture only made me go "oh, that really happened."
I remember my childhood home being built. Sitting in my Little Tikes turtle sandbox on the property with headphones on but still being so scared of the big scary backhoe. Also being scared of the under-construction house, and the stairs before they got finished and carpeted, thinking I would fall between the slats.
I remember saying goodbye to the trailer we used to live in, and saying goodbye to the gross bathroom where everything was green.
I remember being brought to the hospital with my mom to see my grandpa, who was sick, and being so bored. I remember being told some time later that grandpa was gone, and learning what death was.
There are things that stay with you.
---
helped to discredit a local psychic TRUE
So in Salem, MA there is a dedicated licensing board through the town for licensing psychics and mediums. To protect tourists from getting scammed, Salem psychics are not allowed to predict death, to diagnose specific ailments or health concerns, you can't tell people they're cursed, stuff like that. Most psychics are licensed through the storefront they work through, but some are licensed independently.
There is a local psychic studio called Fatima's. No I don't care about naming and shaming here, I'm gonna do it. The first thing you need to know about Fatima's is that there is no Fatima. "Fatima" is a stage name shared by multiple women who all work at the same shop, to encourage this sort of exotic, Eastern European mystique. Tone it down, bitch, you are from Lynn.
One day I'm working the counter at my former job when a woman comes in, in tears. I do not remember her exact circumstances, but I believe she had just gone through a death in the family. She explained to me that she had just had a reading at Fatima's. Fatima had told her that the reason for this death was because of a curse upon her. She was also told that she needed to fork over some extravagant sum of money for a hex breaking ritual that only Fatima could perform, or worse and worse misfortunes would befall her.
I had to gently explain to this woman that she'd been extorted. I gave her a few crystals for free (one for grief, one for grounding, one for protection) and performed a brief smoke cleanse over her to clear negative energy. And assured her that was all she needed. Then I got our in store medium involved, who also gave her some reassuring words, then called the licensing board and the police.
Long story short Fatima's lost their license. Unfortunately, they continue to practice and simply choose to pay an annual fine for practicing without a license. Which they can perform, because they have prime real estate directly across the street from one of our most popular hotels, preying on people who don't know any better.
I'm gonna do 3 of these polls because I thought of a LOT of things, check my blog for the others. Each poll contains one item that is ALMOST but NOT QUITE true. Which one is it?
I can elaborate when the polls are done if people are interested.

thoughts on splatoon 3?
Thanks for giving me the chance to rant about this! I stayed up way too late the last two nights grinding multiplayer and story mode, and I have a lot of thoughts about it! I’m going to break it down into three parts: multiplayer, story mode, and music. And don’t worry, I’ll keep this totally spoiler-free!
Multiplayer
Multiplayer is a lot of fun! Lets start with the new weapons! So far, I’ve only tried the Splatana Wiper and the Tri-Stinger. I used the Splatana Wiper throughout most of the Splatfest, and despite the steep learning curve I’m really loving it. It feels sort of like an Octobrush combined with a Carbon Roller, which is great. The step-forward with a vertical swings is very cool and useful but has also gotten me in trouble a couple times (like stepping into a bomb). However, as I started playing Ranked Anarchy Battles (it’s going to take a while for me to make that switch), it didn’t seem to work quite as well for me s some of the weapons I was more familiar with. I had some decent success in Clam Blitz with it, though.
I bought the Tri-Stringer to use for Tower Control, and it’s been working pretty well. It feels like a charger, but it’s a lot more forgiving about aiming. The bomb-arrows can be especially useful for getting people off the tower, although to be honest that plan didn’t work quite as well as I had hoped it would. I still need to go used to the horizontal vs. vertical shots, and adjusting my aim when I jump for a vertical shot. I’ve made some pretty great splats with it so far, though. Overall very happy with it.
The only other thing I’ll mention about main weapons is that I like the new sound effect for the Rapid Blaster (and, presumably, all the other blasters, too). It feels somehow cooler. I’ve been using my Rapid Blaster primarily for Rainmaker like in Splatoon 2, but I’ve also surprisingly had a lot of success in Splat Zones with it, too.
I haven’t tried the Angle Shooter sub yet, so I can’t say much about that. As for specials, I think they seem decently balanced with each other, although I think they’re generally more powerful than the Splatoon 2 specials. I assume this is part of what contributes to the ridiculously high splat counts I’ve been seeing. The only flaw I’ve found in the specials so far is that Big Bubbler feels a little bit OP when placed on the tower in Tower Control. Zipcaster is really fun and especially useful on Tower Control, but I’m guessing it’s going to follow Splashdown down the path of Cool Looking Specials That Become Useless at Higher Levels After a Few Months Because Everyone Knows How to Counter It. Splashdown was my favorite special when I first started playing Splatoon 2, and Zipcaster is my favorite now, but I’m worried that theyre going to have the same fate. The Zipcaster counts on catching the opponent off-guard, but it’s so easy to see when someone is Zipcasting because of the glowing ink. Also, without Special Power Up, the special isn’t long enough to reasonably have a chance of splatting more than one target in different locations. However, I did just learn that the Zipcaster actually does up to 60 damage on impact if you land on an opponent, and that might be its saving grace. Also, while I haven’t personally used it, I think the Inc Vac is pretty tame. You’re out in the open for a really long time, exposed from the back, and it just makes a little explosion in a predictable location. Since I started playing (including the Splatfest), I still haven’t been splatted but an Ink Vac even once.
And before we move on from weapons I’ll also bring up Squid Roll and Squid Surge, I guess. They’re useless. That’s all I have to say. I had high hopes for them, but I really don’t see any way they could consistently help anything. The Squid Surge takes too long, and the jump you get is… what, maybe a few inches higher than without it? It also does work on low walls. I can only see two instances where it would ever be useful: if a wall isn’t full inked (but still inked just enough), or possibly on Blackbelly Skatepark. And even in those cases, only with certain weapons. As for the squid roll, it requires you to be swimming through your ink at a speed that’s impractical during battle. Even one tiny dot of ink can slow your momentum, and if someone is shooting at you, you’re quickly going to lose mobility. Not to mention that you can only jump between about 120 to 180 degrees of the direction you’re swimming in. I can only see one instance where this one would be useful: to avoid a bomb you’re swimming toward.
Ok, moving on from weapons. The new stages all seem great so far! I’m also especially happy to see Museum d’Alfonsino and Wahoo World returning. The only big thing I’ve noticed so far about the maps is that the Inkblot Art Academy map for Clam Blitz has replaced with the stairs right in front of the basket with a ramp. It’s definitely an interesting choice and makes scoring a lot easier. It also makes it possible to use the Reefslider or and Ultra Stamp to open a path to the the basket, where it was very difficult to effectively use a Baller, Ultra Stamp, or Splashdown. Other than that I haven’t noticed any major changes to returning stages.
I touched on this already, but let’s talk about… stats, I guess? For one, I’ve noticed that splat counts are WAY higher across the board, on both teams, even. As for the “Awards,” I really down understand them at all. What’s the difference between “#1 Overall Shooter” and “#1 Enemy Shooter”? What on Earth is “#1 Record-Breaker” (it was something like that) or “#1 Point-Scorer (which I got in a Tower Control game where I was backling with the Hydra Splatling and never touched the Tower once). It’s fun and all, but I’d like to know what they actually mean, especially if they’re figuring into my Rank. Also, it’s SO nice that they included the times splatted so that I don’t have to check Splatnet after every single battle. They still didn’t break down the splats and splat assists, though, so you still have to go to Splatnet for that. (Really, how hard could it be?)
I’m really happy that they brought back all the Ranked Modes. I was especially worried about Clam Blitz because it gets so much hate, but it’s actually my favorite mode so I’m glad we have it. I did hope to get a new fifth Ranked mode, but I’m happy enough with what we have. The four modes seem unchanged except for Rainmaker’s inclusion of checkpoints and Clam Blitz’s change from 10 clams to a power clam to 8. I think the checkpoints for Rainmaker are a great idea. It gives the defending team some time to respawn to that a wipeout in the first few seconds doesn’t automatically mean a loss. Also, it narrows down the routes you can take, which gives the offense a sense of direction while making it more predictable for the defense. It gets a little confusing for stages that’s have two checkpoints, but as far as I can tell you can just s pick one or the other.
The 8-Clam rule is interesting… to be honest, it doesn’t really affect my formation of clams much (one clam short is still one clam short), but one thing that I do think is worth mentioning is the scoring. In both games, a clan is worth 3 while a Power Clam is worth 20. However, 10 clams on their own would be 30 points, which means that you sacrifice 10 points every time you make a Power Clam. The tradeoff, presumably, is that you get all 20 points in one quick toss. I’m Splatoon 3, this disparity drops to 4 points instead of 10. This means that, if the opponent’s basket is already open, forming and tossing in power clams instead of regular clams doesn’t have as much of a negative effect.
Okay… I just talked about multiplayer for WAY TOO LONG. The next sections will be shorter, I promise.
Story Mode
I was a little nervous when I first started the story campaign because it starts just like Octo Valley and Octo Canyon, but I should’ve known there’d be some sort of twist. Lore-wise, I did find it unnerving to hear Cap’n Cuttlefish using Octoling slurs to my face. (Especially because my New Agent 3 is an Octoling!) I guess the character development we thought we got in Octo Expansion didn’t really happen? Then again, there was some very brief interaction between Cap’n and DJ Octavio that I’m sure got the Cuttletavio shippers excited. While personally I don’t ship it strongly, it was sort of exciting.
I sort of screwed up my Captain Three because it was really hard to tell what color the little splashes actually were without actually seeing them on his body, so his skin tone ended up being clearly a shade too dark, but it’s fine I guess. I understand why they did what they did when you try to talk to him, and, honestly, I’m kind of glad because if they gave him a really distinct personality it might be at odd with my Three. But it’s still frustrating to just watch him sit there while Callie and Marie talk to you over the comms and follow you around. Having Captain Three talk to us over the comms during missions would have been so cool! So, naturally, I’m probably going to have to write about it. I don’t have any ideas yet, but assuming the TPWCH sequel is also set post-canon, I pretty much need to finish the story mode and probably the DLC too before I can even start thinking about it.
Also, there’s no sign of Four or Eight yet, and I kind of doubt they’ll appear. I’m guessing Eight may reappear in the DLC, though, possibly alongside Four.
As for the structure of the campaign… the best way for me to sum it up is that it feels like a ripoff of Octo Expansion, but at least it’s not a ripoff of Octo Valley or Octo Canyon. The Alterna Logs are pretty cool, at least.
I also think it’s kind of bizzare just how low percentage completion they allow you to move forward with. I cleared up to Site 4 last night, and k only had to do like 1 or 2 levels from each Site. I’m definitely going to go back eventually, but I really was wanting to binge the plotline at the time.
The boss battles are cool from a lore standpoint, but from a mechanics/difficulty perspective, they’re rather average. They’re pretty similar to the kinds of bosses we’ve fought throughout the other two games, and they’re not all that difficult.
I’m guessing there’s going to be another big twist once we’re finish all 6 Sites, and I hope they pulls through! So far though, I give it maybe a 6/10 for both mechanics and lore.
Music
I did want to do a quick section in the music, too, because WOW! The battle music is amazing. Every single song is an absolute banger. It’s fun to hear Pearl and Marina singing in normal battles, too! Definitely nothing to complain about there.
I’ve never really liked the Story Campaign music all that much in the other games, it just seems kind of drab to me. Return of the Mammalians isn’t much better. I still prefer the Octo Valley music the most, actually. Oh, and there’s that one track in the new campaign that sounds like there’s an opera singer in the background… why? I hate it.
And finally, can we talk about the music in the Battle Lobby? Because sometimes I swear it’s normal, and then all of a sudden there’s these really funky noises going on. Also what exactly is the purpose of the Copy Machine? It seems completely useless.
On that lovely note, I’ll wrap it up. Overall, I’m totally overjoyed for the game! I’m definitely going to spend almost all my free time playing it, and Splatoon 2 (sadly) is getting demoted to a Nostalgia Only game. I love the graphics and the music of the new game so much, and the new weapons/specials are really exciting! I’ll also post an update once I’ve tried out Table Turf (which I’m really excited for!) and Salmon Run.
I’ll leave you off with a picture of my adorable lil’ Octo UwU (I love that the Hero Suit is a crop top for both “styles”)
