Chapter 2 - Barry knew he couldn't outrun his shadow
“Uncle Flash,” Wally jumped when an empty cardboard box fell to the ground, “I really think we should leave!”
Barry looked around nervously the hairs on his skin standing on end. He never even liked hearing about Gotham much less stepping foot in the accursed city, but here he was in his flash costume scoping out an abandoned warehouse that he knew was being used by Captain Boomerang. He just needed to find proof, which was proving to be difficult, what with all the spookiness the warehouse provided. How anyone in their right mind would live in this city, he did not know. Wouldn’t the rumors of bats personified and dead children protecting the weak be enough to rule this place out as reasonable living? They heard another echo of something falling and both Barry and Wally hugged each other, a squeak escaping their lips.
“Maybe we should come when there’s more light out,” Barry whispered.
Wally shook his head in the affirmative.
“Are you looking for this?” A clear voice echoed from the rafters.
“Who, who’s there!” Barry exclaimed.
A lithe figure somersaulted into view, landing precariously on a stack of boxes in front of them. From the little they could see of his face, he was extremely pale, black hair that blended with the darkness surrounding them, he was shapeless, shadowy, like a specter. Until he moved to stand up, his black cape, because that is what had been covering his body, revealed a bright yellow lining and his red and green clothes were so bright in contrast to their surroundings that it made the pair flinch. The maybe teenager, Barry realized he was young, lifted a boomerang to the meager light coming from a broken window.
“There’s rarely any sun here, so you would have to wait a while and by then all evidence would be gone. I’m Robin by the way.” Robin said casually, a wide smile appearing on his face, it gave Barry the creeps.
“Uh, yeah we were looking for something like that.” Wally said, slowly extricating himself from Barry.
“Where is Captain Boomerang now?” Barry asked, placing a hand on Wally’s shoulder to prevent him from walking any closer to Robin.
“Isn’t it rude to not introduce yourselves?” He pointed to Barry and then to Wally, “Flash, Kid Flash, it’s also rude to not send advanced notice of your coming.”
“We, weren’t even sure you existed.” Wally said, taking one more step forward.
Robin jumped off the the tower of boxes, they didn’t even teeter, he landed gracefully on his tiptoes the floor seemingly cushioned just for him and he bent towards Wally, his face mere inches from his.
“And now you do.” Robin’s smile widened further, his teeth looked human at least, no fangs.
Robin brought the shadows with him, their surroundings become darker, the figure blurrier, if he focused too intently on him, blackness and color fused like watercolors . Barry’s heart beat an even more rapid pace than it normally did, he wasn’t sure if he should pull his nephew away or push the colorful shadow, either way he was afraid that the thing might find it rude. He apparently already offended the thing, he didn’t want to make things worse. Robin shoved the boomerang to Wally’s chest and then threw a flash-drive towards Barry, who caught it with ease.
“Now leave,” Robin bent backwards slowly, looked at them through his legs, “Gotham doesn’t like trespassers,” He lifted his legs above his head effortlessly and threw himself into the air, the shadows coalesced around him and then his voice came from the rafters, “even less when they’re metas.”
Barry heard laughter to his right making him twist around, were there more of those things? He felt watched at all angles, it was unnatural. Wally on the other hand seemed entranced by the being they just met, he clutched the boomerang to his chest like one would a bouquet of flowers. Barry pulled Wally away and they rushed out of there as if the city had burned them. The shadows were alive in Gotham, a full body shiver ran down him, because there was one thing he knew for certain and that was that he couldn’t outrun his shadow.

Lol, I can’t help but imagine how Wally would react to a gothic, kind of grungy, reader. Just someone who wears black and white all the time, maybe with hits of darker blues or reds. I just find the idea amusing since the neighborhood and characters are all bright, fun colors while there’s just this one gothic person wearing spikes or something.
Also, something I can picture is Wally painting them because they’re so different from everything else and the uniqueness of their style and makeup is so fun to draw and paint, and the reader feels the same way. I can just picture the two of them drawing each other or something.
(romantic or mutual crushes, please ^^ I've always been a sucker for opposite aesthetic couples)
HAHA!!! I’m also a sucker for opposite aesthetic couples HEHEHE… I’ll strike you a deal; I’ll write both (mutual crushes and romantic)! HAHA
The Raven and The Kingfisher
Wally Darling x GN!Goth/Grunge!Reader
Headcanons Format, Mutual Crushes -> Romantic Relationship
When you first moved in, to say Wally was interested would be an understatement.
He adored your style, he found it very!! Refreshing? He loves all his neighbours and he loves their town, but sometimes something new can be appreciated!! And you were something new, alright!! /pos
After just a few days of talking, he ended up asking if he could paint you— and he loves to paint all his neighbours! But he certainly wanted to give a shot at conveying your style.
All those darker coloured paints (ones that maybe only been slightly used to create new tones) could finally be used >:]
If you were to say no, he’d accept ! That’s alright ! But he’d probably still likely doodle something of your style in private— although not necessarily of you.
If you say yes? He’s over the moon.
He takes great care to make his paintings as accurate as he can!! He’d likely be on yours for a while, just because you introduce a lot of new colours he hasn’t worked with before— the closest reference he has had is Frank and the other things he’s doodled— so it might take a while longer than usual!! But it’s so delightfully fun to experiment and learn.
But the outcome is lovely, and he proudly hands the painting off to you.
He doesn’t make that the last time he’s drawn you, though, goodness no. It almost becomes a habit, to doodle you.
Which his friends begin to notice, when the litte sketchbook he drags around is practically filled with scribbles of you.
At some point, he is with Julie! She ends up glancing over, and giggles at seeing him doodle you yet again, with a soft “Oh, Wally..”
The two had just been sitting around lightly chatting and doing their own things— and Wally was drawing.
Confusedly, Wally would lift his head— what was funny? Had he done something funny with meaning to—?
“You’re drawing the new neighbour!”
He tilts his head. Why yes, he was? How is that funny—? Julie picks up and continues, though.
“You’ve been drawing them sooo mucchhh.. Do you like them, or something? I think you might like them— we all kinda do!“
He tilts his head again. “Of course.. I like them, they’re my friend..?”
But that interaction gets his brain spinning, and eventually— during a hangout with Frank— he just kind of. Pauses.
He mutters under his breathe, and soon whisks himself away with a rushed farewell to Frank— who is just left staring in confusion.
Ah, so maybe like is a loose term. Haha ooooops..
When he steps into Home, who creaks him a hello, the amount he’s been doodling you somewhat- hits him like a truck?
You’re in his sketchbooks, mainly, which— all of his friends were! But his sketchbooks were almost like a direct thread to his “subconscious”. He just doodles whatever comes to mind, or whatever he feels (and his true feelings have a tendency to alter how it presents itself— though really only in ways he can understand). He uses it very much as an outlet.
And you were, basically, on every single damn page of the thing.
.. whoopsie.
With the newfound knowledge that he, haha, maybe has developed a “teensy weensy itsy bitsy” crush—
Heee is now terrified to be around you.
If it was so obvious to everyone else, was it obvious to you?
Wuh-oh.
He doesn’t let this anxiety stop him from talking to you, though. The thoughts of it made him sad— and the thought of him withdrawing making you sad made him ever sadder.
But from beyond this point, he’s a lot.. less collected.
When you two hang out, there’s a small shift in the air— that he is hyper-aware of, and you might be, too.
Wally always did stare— he liked eye contact, and he didn’t really care to learn where else he should be looking during conversations—
So him avoiding your gaze was almost off-putting due to how foreign it was.
He’d glance to his hands, or to his supplies, or To the sky.
Anywhere but you when you looked at him— he couldn’t!! Really bare your reaction!!
He knew it’d be the same way you look at him all of the time, but the thought it might be negative made him.. antsy.
Because, again, if his little crush was obvious to everyone else before it was even obvious to him— was it obvious to you, too?
This keeps up for a few days, and eventually— you just.. ask him what’s been up. You note his change in behaviour, and you express you’re confused— maybe even a bit concerned.
And the dam just comes flooding.
He gives some garbled twist of a confession, nervously wringing his fingers the entire time (something he almost never did).
He expresses it’s okay if it isn’t mutual, and that he just had to get it off his chest before he “exploded” (Barnaby used that word a lot in his jokes— so maybe it’d be funny if he used it, too?)
He’s overjoyed to hear you return the affections though, and immediately just sort of de-tenses and instead starts.. kicking his legs. Very quickly. Stimming. Hehe.
From there, you two fall into a relationship. You had already sort of been recognized as a “thing” by everyone else in the neighbourhood— as you were often seen together.
Now, you were practically always seen together— making the opposites in your aesthetic very noticeable. Two halves of a pair!
When you aren’t together, Wally has a tendency to.. maaaybe.. gush about you, a lil..
Specifically to Barnaby! He knows Barnaby doesn’t mind to listen (especially while consuming his.. “lovely” hot dogs (/sar)).
While the two stand around, Wally cupping his normal hotdog in two hands and Barnaby chewing on his abomination lovely creation, he’ll just go onnn and ooonn about you, or what the two of you have been up to, or what you plan to do later. His words are kinda hummed as he does, and he seems to idly be wiggling his head side to side.
Barnaby is happy to lend an ear! He’s got two very big ones, after all.
.. plus, it’s easier to lull Wally into kind of just.. handing his hotdog to him.. hehe..
Not that he wasn’t going to already give it! He just gets to receive it faster, and Wally pays no mind.
Overall, that little man is head over heels for you— absolutely smitten. He finds your aesthetic very, very pretty— and you in turn just as much.
Expect sappy love letters and even more paintings of you, dear. :]
I FORGOT TO DO AN AUTHOR’S NOTE AT THE END IM SORROY I GOT DISTRACTED HWAHWA
THis was super cute to write and I hope it was satisfactory!!! :D
Have a lovely day!!!!!

School wasn’t the same without Jason around.
The ride to school was silent, the rain falling that morning didn’t help. If anything, it only made Amira feel colder.
Walking the halls without him by his side was torture, Amira missing his banter over the latest book he was reading. Their banter of the pronunciation of a word they were learning in spanish class. How did she ever deal with the solitude and whispers behind her back when she used to be by herself?
Gym class was terrifying, Amira finding herself leaning against the wall as everyone else got into groups to play dodgeball. Some groups avoided her gaze while some looked at her and sneered. That’s right. Amira only played with Jason since he never held back simply because she was a girl. He was the only one who treated her as an equal. He was the only one who was willing to pair with her, no one else never daring to approach them.
All her other classes seemed to go the same way, finding herself alone and in a corner of the room or isolated from the groups formed during science.
Lunch was something she never knew she would dread. It felt like everyone watched her every move. That she was judged with each step she took. No longer being able to bear the torture, Amira ran to the school library, ignoring the looks she got as she ran there.
Slumping into a lone cubicle on the second floor of the library, Amira looked around. There was no one else there, only a librarian at the front desk.
She took out her workbook, deciding to do something with her uneasy mind. And if anything, she could stay here until the school day ended. Father would understand.
She didn’t know how long she had been there, how engrossed she was with her work until she got a tap on the shoulder. Amira quickly grabbed the hand, bending a finger back.
“A..mira, it’s me. Dick.” She quickly let go, averting her gaze from him.
“Dick? How did you find me?” Amira asked, dumping her things into her bag. “And sorry.”
“It’s alright. And the dismissal bell rang half an hour ago. As to how I found you, a classmate of yours saw you run out of the school lunchroom. Said I might find you here.” Dick explained, soothing his finger.
Richard watched as Amira averted her gaze, Richard noticing her digging her nails into her palm. “Amira, you alright?” When she didn’t respond, he sighed. “Sorry, that was stupid of me to ask.”
He didn’t expect Amira to hold his hand, her grasp tight.
“He’s gone forever, isn’t he?” Richard heard her voice crack, watching a tear slip down her face. “He won’t ever come back, right?”
Dick quickly brought her closer to him, letting her cry into his uniform. He stood there quietly, patting her head as she continued to cry. “Don’t leave me alone either Richard! Don’t leave me! Don’t go!”
“I will try, Amira. I will try.”
-
When Amira asked Dick to never leave her, she didn’t mean this.
During the evening, Dick would help Amira with her homework or if he was in a patrol, he would talk to her through the comms.
During the short weekend, he would take her out to go shopping, of course, with Alfred accompanying them.
Then came the school week.
That Monday morning, Dick patted her head before the two headed to their respective classrooms, some of the girls in her class asking how she knew him. Turns out that despite the clear age gap (and being in different buildings), some of her classmates were captivated by his charm.
What did Jason call it? Charisma? She forgot.
During lunch, Dick barged into the lunchroom and found her, dragging her to his classroom where he would introduce her to his friends, as in, his entire class.
“This is Marinette! She’s a very close friend of mine! Practically my sister from other parents!” Dick said with a grin, ruffling Amira’s hair as he did so.
The girls in his class cooed, buttering Amira in hopes of gaining her brother’s favor.
“Guys, leave the poor girl alone. She needs her space.” A girl sitting away from the group said, Amira looking to see who it was. She didn’t realize she was staring until the girl beckoned her to come closer. “Hi, name’s Barbara Gordon. What’s yours?”
“Marinette.” Amira said. “Marinette Dupain. I’m part of the middle school wing, grade 7.”
“Dupain? Like the bakery-”
“Yes!” Amira said, quickly rambling about the bakery, not noticing how Dick smiled as he watched her lighten up.
Maybe he should bring her over more often.
-
The next few days were definitely different for Amira.
Out of school, Amira would be joining Dick at the Cave, learning a few basic gymnast skills. Learning flips and other tricks were exhilarating, Amira absorbing the new skills easily.
Sometimes, some of Dick’s friends would join in, Amira quickly taking a liking to Wally out of three of them, no offense to Garth and Vic. Perhaps because Wally was the one who made sure to make her feel included that caused Amira to grow a soft spot for him. Whenever he would come over, Amira always made sure to have cookies ready for him.
She enjoyed the smile that would radiate off him, Amira always looking forward towards his next visit.
At school, Amira would go over to Dick’s classroom to talk with Babs during lunch.
(That was Amira’s name for her, although she didn’t dare to call Barbara by that nickname. They weren’t exactly close friends...yet.)
She adored talking to Babs about the latest pastry or about Babs’ father’s latest case. (Amira found it hilarious that their dads respected each other both in and out of work.)
It’s been a solid month since she began merging into this new routine, Amira practically skipping as she made her way to see Babs. Just as she was about to make her way inside, she was quickly pulled back, Amira now face to face with a kid...her age? But one thing was for certain, she had seen him before...but where? Surely she would remember a kid that carried a portable camera-
Timothy Jackson Drake. The Drakes only son...only child.
The only reason she remembered him was due to the newspaper she found on the dining table her father left behind that morning. Something about his mother was the headline of the paper.
“You’re Marinette, right?” He asked her, Amira wondering what he wanted with her. This was the first time both children ever spoke to each other.
“I am. Do I-”
“Name’s Tim -Tim Drake- from the elementary wing, grade 5. Anyways, I’ve been wanting to ask you something. Where’s Jason?” He asked, Amira feeling her heart drop. “I’ve noticed that-”
Amira knew that the boy kept talking about something, but she didn’t know what exactly.
Jason’s name just kept echoing within her head, Amira’s head replaying the past month in her mind.
How did she forget about Jason? Why did she forget about Jason? How dare she forget him?!
“-Mimi! Mimi, please, listen to me!” Amira registered a voice, a voice she always heard. “Amira, please, talk to me!” It was big brother.
Amira looked at Dick, his eyes wide with panic, Amira registering the tears that dared to slip from him.
Without another word, Amira hugged him, her grasp on his school jacket tightening as her mind slipped back to Jason.
“I didn’t mean to forget him! I didn’t mean to! I swear!” Amira sobbed, hating that she was breaking down at school, hating that everyone saw her at her most vulnerable point. Hating herself for forgetting Jason. “He probably hates me for forgetting about him. He hates me…”
“It’s alright Amira. It’s alright.” She heard Dick whisper to her, watching as the two left the school grounds. “He would never hate you Amira. He loved you too much to ever gate you.” Dick reassured.
That was the last time Amira ever saw Gotham Academy.
-
Ever since Amira broke down at school, she remained cooped up in her room, not letting anyone enter it, not even Alfred.
Dick had tried to coax her to come out by telling her that Wally had come over to talk to her, but Amira didn’t budge from her room.
Not until Bruce asked her to come to his study to talk.
“Did you want to speak to me, Father?” Amira asked, closing the door behind her.
She knew why she was there. She knew why her father called her to his study.
After all, it wasn’t that easy to create a cover story of why Dick and Amira came home while school was still in session. It was especially hard when the school called Bruce, asking about the whereabouts of the two of them.
“Amira. Take a seat.” Bruce said as he motioned to the open space in front of him. It’s been a while since she had been at her father's study, noticing the new window seats. They weren’t there the last time she stepped foot into his study. Then again, the last time she did was when…
Now that she thought about it, Amira couldn’t help but look at her father.
Despite the dim lightning of the study, Amira could easily see the worn out features on her father. His eyes were shrouded in darkness, circles deeper than ever, the bags under his eyes darker than before.
The corners of his eyes were red and tired, her father’s lips now forever in a frown.
How could she forget? How stupid was she to think that she was the only one suffering when clearly, her father was too? What about Dick then? Was he also-? And Alfred...
Amira shook the thought from her mind, deciding to pile up the cushions into a corner and taking a seat, letting her back lightly touch the pile. It was only then that she noticed her old Batman plushie.
“I thought...I thought this was thrown out.” Amira said, picking up the old thing, the colors faded, Amira running her fingers over the stitched up arm.
“It was, until I asked Alfred if I could keep it.” Bruce said, letting a sigh leave him. “Sometimes, it's hard to let go of the past.” Amira remained silent, letting her head hang. So this is why he called her to his study.
Amira listened as her father drifted to his memories of when he ventured the world. Of how he met her mother. (That was the first time he actually talked about her to Amira. Sure, he would mention her mother’s small quirks, but Father never told her stories about her.) Of how he met Amira...as an infant.
How Bruce kept making mistake after mistake, wanting to give up various times as he found himself lost. How he thought he wasn’t enough to help raise Amira, that he wasn’t fit for the job.
How he found his efforts finally being rewarded in the shape of Amira growing into the girl she was now. For Dick finally being able to flourish despite his parents’ death. How Jason was able to have a better life once Bruce took him in.
“Where did I go wrong?” Bruce asked, looking out the window. “What did I do that caused-“
“You did nothing wrong.” Amira reassured. “You did nothing wrong Dad. If anything, you always did your best to make sure we were fed, clothed...safe. We couldn’t have asked for a better father.”
Amira sat there in silence for what seemed like minutes before Bruce looked at her.
“But clearly, that wasn’t enough.” Bruce said, getting up from his seat. “I’m sending you to Paris.”

here comes the bind
Day Four: Soulmates | Wedding
The day was finally here.
The day of the JayKyle wedding.
Apollo and Aphrodite were currently riding around in his chariot scaring the living hell out of everyone. No one had seen the gods of beauty this angry since Apollo killed Python and Aphrodite was torturing Psyche. The two of them were supposed to be helping their children get ready, but the day had to be perfect. That meant everyone needed to get with the program.
The chosen location wasn’t Themyscira or Bana-Mighdall. It wasn’t anywhere in LA, Gotham or Ireland. It wasn’t anywhere in Greece or Rome. It wasn’t even on Olympus.
No, they decided to host the wedding on Outlaw Island.
[They made sure to invite everyone even Eris. No one wanted a repeat of the Trojan War.]
The Fates were sitting in their own section ready to show off the life strings of the two demigods. [The news that they were preparing to give was going to be a shocker.]
The gods that each a hand in raising the boys and watching them grow sat near the front. Hera would be the one marrying the two. The Outlaws would have sat behind them if not for being members of the wedding party. Their mortal families [which for Kyle meant the Lanterns] sat behind them. Kyle’s sat on the left while Jason’s sat on the right. It was to represent the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. There had been quite a commotion when Bruce realized that he was going to be sat near Talia. Only to then throw an even bigger fit when he realized that she came before him in the lineup. (His feelings will be so hurt when he realized the most important part.] Right behind their mortal families sat the Amazons who all had a hand in training the boys. Each side of them. Scattered throughout the rest of the seats were other members of the pantheon and the Justice League. They were seated by their level of importance to the couple (a lot of members of the Justice League and various assassins and aliens were seated near the back).
Demeter and Dionysus grew apple, myrtle, and laurel trees before morphing them into archways. There was backdrop of the couple’s favorite hill where one could look over the sea point out where the sun connects.
Poseidon pulled seashell from the sea up to create the walkway. Bust of the gods were dotted around the seating area.
Hera sniffed a little disdainfully, “We were going to do a traditional Hellenic wedding, but the boys wanted to modernize it. Luckily, we managed to get most of everything done, so now we can begin the service.”
She gave her stepson a look and Apollo began to sing while the Muses harmonized with him. Smiles lit up everyone’s face to hear the pure joy and love in the father’s voice. He was nothing if not lovable. The mortals swayed on their feet due to the divine energy spreading throughout the song. It took everything in their power and then some to keep them seated.
Suddenly, another voice began to sing, and everyone turned to look. Draped in a cream chiton with a golden chlamys around him, Jason looked like red headed version of his father before him. His freckles stood out on his skin. The black dye was fading away at the ends of his hair. The symbol of the lyre was on a band wrapped around his arm. Laurel leaves were braided into his hair. His blue green eyes had a ring of gold surrounding them as he smiled ecstatically. On his arm was Talia who smirked smugly at Bruce as she walked her son down the aisle. She was wearing a pale gold peplos with her hair falling into princess curls. She smiled lovingly at him when she had to let him go, giving him a kiss on the forehead, before moving on to her seat. Jason continued to sing alongside his father who had tears prickling at the corner of his eyes.
The sound of giggling could be heard before Lian Harper skipped out into the party. Persephone had braided flowers into her hair while giving her seeds of rose and hyacinth. Every time the little girl threw to the ground said flower burst into full bloom, yet the scent never smelled too much nor appalling.
Another beat passed before Kyle appeared dressed in a salmon himation. Jason audibly gasped at the sight and Kyle froze for half a second after seeing him. Giggles could be heard from their friends and the nymphs at the two’s reaction. Hal had to tug on Kyle’s hand to get him moving. Myrtle leaves had been braided into Kyle’s hair giving him a look almost like the nymphs. His tanned legs were long and true with rose wrapped around his ankles before tying around his sandals. His iridescent eyes looked like rainbow prisms flashing a deep pink and blue and indigo. Jason’s heart skipped a beat. He could stare in Kyle’s eyes until the end of time and still never have enough of them.
Apollo and the Muses’ song slowed to a stop as the two made it to the end. Hal smiled at Kyle like a proud father before patting him on the shoulder. He would’ve ruffled his hair if it weren’t for the way that Aphrodite was glaring daggers with a smile on her face.
The couple stood before each other in front of the High Queen. The Goddess of Marriage. She smiled at them both. She remembered the wide-eyed looks both gave when they had been first introduced to the family. She remembered the light blushes on each of their cheeks. The first thing Jason had said was that she was pretty, and Kyle had immediately ignored everyone as he began to sketch her right then and there. They had followed all of them around like little ducklings whenever the two were on Olympus. Kyle with his mother and Jason with the Amazons.
Hera will admit if only to herself that she had thought that Jason would end up with Artemis from Bana-Mighdall. At least until she realized that the girl wasn’t interested in boys and that Jason saw her as another sister figure. She had also thought that Kyle would end up with Jessica once the female lantern came around, but the two of them had a close familial bond that warmed Hera’s heart.
The ceremony passed in a blur for the two boys as they stared each other in the eyes. Hera’s words being tuned out as Kyle felt the love that Jason held for him [though it was tinged with something else. Something a little darker.] and Jason could see their future together [though it faded a little around the edges like an old movie].
Their vows had been short and sweet as their guests stared in awe at the sight of the boys’ essences began blend around them. Hera was going all out for everyone to see how beautiful and wonderful the two were.
Hera smiled with a teeth and threatening eyes as she looked out into the crowd, “If anyone objects to this union, please speak now or forever hold your piece.” Everyone glanced nervously at each other while Apollo, Aphrodite, Hal, and Talia calmly fingered their weapons.
“We do,” three voices stated together. Everyone turned in shock to look at who would be foolish enough to go against the very protective wedding party. Jaws dropped as they took in the sight of the Morai.
Clotho was holding onto a life string that was so slowly unraveling, “They are soulmates,” Clotho stated. “A bond more beautiful and truer than Helen and Paris. Yet, just like those two… their lives are doom due to outside influences interfering with their bond.”
Apollo and Aphrodite started to glow with rage. Even their anger paled in contrast with Hera’s. She planned this wedding from top to bottom. Not a single thing was to go wrong. Yet, the fates were here to tell them that their efforts were for nothing. They would ruin this occasion. The three of them began to yell loudly.
“What outside influence? We all made sure to be careful and abide by your rules,” Hera snarled. She began to glow with power. Every mortal around senses began to go off screaming danger.
Lachesis only stared at her as Apollo and Aphrodite were being held back and comforted. Even Bruce and Dick had gotten over themselves to keep Talia pinned in place. This was her son’s wedding. Hal was being held the combine willpower of the other Lanterns and the Flash [Barry and Wally]. It wouldn’t be the first time the Fates were faced with a god’s [and mortals’] anger nor would it be the last. “On the day of Kyle’s proposal, Jason managed to nick himself with one of Eros’ arrows. One of his most famed love arrows. Apollyon, you know how it feels. The cut may have healed, but that does not mean the effects were gone. And such, Kyle himself managed to accidently cut himself when returning said arrows. Why do you think Eros has disappeared?”
She was right. Eros and Psyche were gone. No one knew where they went. Kyle had been so sad to know that his favored brother wouldn’t even attend his wedding. There had been a lot of tears and anger and yells when Kyle realized that.
Atropos rose a brow, “You should all figure out a way to fix this. This is not love anymore. And you, Aphrodite knows what happens when a child a love cannot feel.”
Aphrodite did know. Her baby wouldn’t die. No, he would fade away. He would slowly lose all motor function. Then his mind will begin to break slowly. Slowly but surely, his heart will stop pumping blood until it stops completely. He would be paper thin in touch with only the slightest contact leaving his skin to peel away like ash. She felt sick. She couldn’t believe she was going through this again.
Jason had noticed that Kyle seemed different. His bright eyes were look dull and blank. His evenly spread tan seemed as if the color was seeping right out of him. Even with Apollo’s essence healing him from inside out… Kyle just seemed so drained. Jason had thought it was stress from the wedding. Kyle had been filled with nerves. He threw up on every other occasion. But now--- he was a child of love. He was a Lantern. He couldn’t not feel love. It was impossible. Kyle had to feel. He was one of the most expressive people that Jason knew. Every ring that he wielded could be traced back to love. It was why Jason always said that Aphrodite was the most powerful of the Olympians.
Jason turned to look at Kyle when he felt something shift. His teal eyes met with Kyle’s and suddenly, Jason felt this uncontrollable hunger. He loved Kyle. He needed Kyle. He could see the same desire running through Kyle’s tired eyes.
Something must have shown on his face because as soon as he began to lunge for Kyle, Talia tackled him to the ground. Aphrodite yanked Kyle away from the altar as if he was giant cat. The two of them struggled to get to each other.
Before Kyle seemed to freeze before turning away and vomiting right on the ground. Specks of blood appeared, and Aphrodite cried out in shock. Jason could only stare in horror.
Again?
Kyle was dying.

Sheldon’s Visit
|Sheldon (one of Amelia’s friends in private practice) visits Amelia in Seattle and everyone gets to know a little bit more about how she was in the past. Also, Owen finds out that Amelia tried to sleep with Sheldon and gets super jealous. Overall fluff.
Sheldon walked around the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial lost like a little puppy, desperate to find his mother; or in Sheldon’s case trying to find Amelia Shepherd’s office. Finally he reached what seemed like a reception office that really was only a couple nurses chatting away like there is no tomorrow and getting absolutely no work done or looking even somewhat willing to help the lost doctor.
“Hello, I’m looking for Doctor Amelia Shepherd please. Could you tell me where her office is?”
The nurse looked at him slowly opening and closing her mouth but without uttering any words. After what seemed like an eternity a red headed man appeared out of nowhere.
“I’ll take you to her office. Come with me.” Sheldon followed slowly. “I’m sorry” said the red headed man. “You are?”
“Oh I’m Sheldon Wallis. I’m one of Amelia’s friends from LA”
“Oh it’s so great to finally meet one of Amelia’s friends. She refuses to go to LA or anywhere remotely close or even speak about it.”
“Yeah I’ve noticed. I have to do something about that” muttered Sheldon more to himself than to Owen.
“I just realized I haven’t even introduced myself. I’m Owen Hunt, Amelia’s husband.”
“Nice to finally meet you. It’s good to be able to put a face to the name. I’ve heard so much about you from Amelia’s hour long phone calls. They consist mostly of her ranting like a teenage girl but we manage to sneak in a few actual conversations in there, without her acting like a lovesick puppy.”
“Sounds about right, but that’s Amelia for you. We’re here.”
Owen slowly opened the door to reveal a focused standing Amelia looking at some scans, her back to the door.
“Amelia” called Owen.
As soon as she turned her back, Sheldon uttered a single hi but that was enough to have her running like the wind into his open arms.
“Oh my god Sheldon what are you doing here? I’ve missed you so much” she whispered in to his ear.
After a little while she let go, readjusted her clothes and decide to properly introduce the two gentlemen; it was after all the first time Sheldon (who was undoubtedly one of the most important people in her life) was meeting her husband.
“Sheldon I’d like you meet my husband Owen. Owen this is Sheldon.”
“We already meet on our way here. Owen was kind enough to bring me to your office.”
“Sheldon would you like to come to our house for dinner? You can meet Meredith and Maggie and Richard and a few other of my friends here.”
“You have friends. I’m shocked” exclaimed Sheldon jokingly to tease his friend.
At this point Amelia jokingly hit him in the chest and responded with a sarcastic Ha Ha.
“No but seriously all joking aside we’ll be expecting you. 9 o clock sharp. Be there”
And with that she left leaving the two guys confused and amused staring at each other.
After that Sheldon left to go to his hotel to get changed and relax before heading out to see the city and the infamous ferry boats and arriving 9 o clock sharp at the Shepherd-Hunt residence.
By 9:15 everyone had arrived and was seated, slowly munching on chicken and roast potatoes that were oh so lovely prepared by poor Major Hunt who had to cancel his last surgery for the day and run to the store to please his fabulous new wife.
“So Sheldon” started Amelia “this is Meredith, Derek’s wife, Maggie, Meredith’s half-sister, Richard, a good friend of mine and Maggie’s father, Arizona and Alex, the peds gods and Nathan. Everyone this is Sheldon.”
“Hey don’t I get a proper introduction” said Nathan apparently offended by the lack of further introduction by Amelia.
“Oh well Sheldon, this is Nathan or as I call him Satan 2.0. You see Satan 1.0 was Addison. This is the new and improved version”.
“I’m hurt Shepherd” said Nathan putting his hand to his heart and pretending to cry.
“Well, nice to meet you all” said Sheldon, while laughing at Amelia’s friend, who also appeared to have no filter.
“So Sheldon how was Amelia in LA. She doesn’t tell us anything about it” said Maggie who was eager to break the awkwardness and get the man to spill embarrassing stories of Amelia’s youth.
“Well to begin with she wasn’t a midget”.
“What do you mean” asked Arizona confused as to how her already petite and tiny friend could have grown shorter through the years.
“Oh she used to wear these six inch high heels and run around them all day. Until this day I still don’t know how she did that without falling every two seconds. She also used to show up wearing the tiniest crop tops I have ever seen. One could think that she was a teenager coming for a check up rather than the doctor ready to cut into people’s brains. Also her hair was different. It was longer and darker and straighter”.
“Yeah, well times change” proclaimed Amelia hopping to change the subject and ignore the surprised looks of her husband and friends.
“Now you just wear sneakers and scrubs. They’re all missing the fun Amelia here” teased Sheldon.
“Should I be offended Sheldon. Did you suddenly fall out of love with me? Is it the hair? Am I too old for you now? Do you only love me when I wear sic inch stilettos?”
“Still no filter I see. But no. How could I ever stop loving you?”
The others sat confused looking at each other not knowing how to react to this weird inside joke between the two friends.
“Am I missing something here?” asked Owen growing slightly irritated and annoyed and even slightly jealous and confused of the chemistry between HIS wife and her flirtatious friend. He was less than pleased with the current turn of events.
“Oh it’s just an old inside joke that has remained through the years. As some of you may already know I had come here in the past to perform a surgery with Derek and I saw Derek’s best friend Mark for the first time since I was like twelve and we ended up sleeping together. After that I returned to LA and for two weeks I hadn’t slept with anyone, which for me was a record back then, and I was so damn horny. Addison and another friend suggested sleeping with Sheldon, who at the time I didn’t really know. So I went in to his office and asked him to have sex with me, but this idiot over here refused saying I had serious daddy issues”.
“But you do my sweet child you do” said Sheldon half serious half joking.
“Shut up Sheldon”
“Wait you slept with Mark?” asked Meredith interrupting the friendly banter. “Is that a thing in the Shepherd family? Like is it a test you all have to pass?”
“Kind of. All of my sisters have slept with him and Addison who really is my sister…. well she more that slept with him”
“Yeah well after that Amelia was mad with me and then she met Ryan who was like the love of her life at that point and forgot about me but by that time it was too late and I was already in love with her. Fast forward to this day a lot of things have happened and we both have had a lot of relationships after that but it’s just a joke that withheld the test of time” and just like that Sheldon finished the story. By the time Sheldon was done speaking Owen’s face was red and fuming.
“You slept with Mark Sloan and tried to sleep with him. You are unbelievable”
“Are you serious Owen? That was like a hundred years ago”.
”Doesn’t matter” argued Owen acting like a young child ready to throw a tantrum.
“Dude seriously you didn’t know her then. She would sleep with seriously anyone” said Sheldon to calm Owen down, which only earned him about the millionth hit for the day from Amelia.
“Is that supposed to make me feel better? Who else have you slept with that I know?” asked Owen wanting to hunt down and kill every single guy his wife had ever touched but at the same time also scared to know the answer.
“No one Owen. Just Mark. And maybe Jackson” muttered Amelia waiting for the explosion to come.
And it came. “WHAT” screamed Arizona at the mention of Jackson’s name.
“It was just one time when you were gone and I was horny and he was just there” explained Amelia as simply as possible trying to calm her husband down but failing miserably.
“Just so you know he’s dead by tomorrow. And I want a list. Of everyone. Every single one” growled Owen who looked like an animal ready to pound on someone.
“Well that is definitely fun to hear. I’m so glad I came” exclaimed Alex who was enjoying the situation a little too much, which earned him a couple of shut ups from Meredith and Arizona and an agreeing smile from Nathan who was too trying to hide his amusement.
After everyone had calmed down the dinner continued without anything too exciting happening and the night ended with a lot of hugs from everyone and especially Sheldon, much to Owen’s dismay.
As soon as the door closed, Owen pined Amelia to the door his eyes filled with desire.
“Well someone is excited I see. To what I owe the pleasure” purred Amelia seductively.
“To your good friend Sheldon who has let my imagination run wild with picture of you in stilettos and cropped tops” responded Owen as he finally closed the gap between them and carried his hot, even with flats and long shirts, wife to their bedroom.
A little later both were catching up on lost air, slowly coming down from the high of their orgasms.
“Please remind me to tell Sheldon thank you tomorrow” said Amelia, to which Owen simply nodded.
“I still want that list though” said Owen, as Amelia groaned and kissed him resuming their previous activities and getting ready for round two.

2016-17 TV Season Recap, Part 2
Previous TV Season Recaps – (2013-14 | 2014-15 | 2015-16 2016-17 TV Season Recap, Part 1 (Gotham, Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow)) 2016-17 TV Season Recap, Part 1 (Gotham, Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow) 2016-17 TV Season Recap, Part 3 (24: Legacy, South Park, Horace & Pete, Stranger Things) For part two of my annual year in review of TV I will be focusing on three Marvel TV properties, in addition to another show based off another comic book publisher.
Luke Cage – I am a big fan of the Luke Cage character portrayed by Mike Colter when he debuted in a supporting role in Jessica Jones last season. Suffice it to say, I was thrilled to see him get his own show. This is not a by-the-numbers, lighthearted villain-of-the-week superhero show. It is a darker take on the genre taking place in the gang-ruled streets of Harlem that has Cage trying to hide his powers and make an everyday living working multiple jobs. Life changes for Cage when a drive-by at his workplace barbershop spells the demise of his mentor. The rest of the season plays out more in a grand crime mystery caper than a superhero show. There are still plenty of enticing scuffles and brawls throughout the season, but the focus is on Cage tracking down several suspects while being on the run from an investigator hot on his tail in the form of Misty Knight (Simone Missick). Watching the mystery unfold was fun to follow as I got to learn more facets about the cast such as Harlem’s lead gangster Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali) and his right hand man Shades (Theo Rossi). Those two villains in particular were the most captivating antagonists among a slew of bigger players introduced this season. My only drawback with the debut season of Luke Cage is that it felt a few episodes too long and were hitting a few predictable clichés throughout the season that would have made for a tighter season if a couple episodes were cut out altogether. Regardless, this was a breath of fresh air from the Marvel Netflix formula, and I hope it sticks with it for future seasons. Grade: B+
Iron Fist – I was surprised to hear so much negativity about Iron Fist shortly after it debuted. Up until this series, the Marvel Netflix shows had a strong batting average. There is so much wrong with Iron Fist. The first couple of episodes are a slog to get through as star Danny Rand (Finn Jones) escapes back home to New York after training with monks for over a decade in a monastery to become the legendary ‘Iron Fist.’ He tries to reconnect with his siblings Joy (Jessica Stroup) and Ward (Tom Pelphrey) but the show spends the first couple episodes with the family dismissing him and casting him off in a rehab facility that was just a slog to get through and made for near-unwatchable television. Eventually Danny gets out of the mental hospital and the show kind of gets on track for a couple episodes. Danny tags along with local martial arts teacher Colleen (Jessica Henwick). Unfortunately, Colleen gives Wally West a run for his money as ‘dopiest character’ of the year because her arc is written so terrible. She starts off the show as trying to help kids stay off the streets by joining her dojo, but learn later that she has an uncontrollable rage she likes to unleash in underground MMA fights. However, that arc magically disappears for the second half of the season without reason. The worst part for both Danny and Colleen is they both commit one of the worst comic book tropes of getting irked and declaring they are going to kill off their enemies only when it comes time to deliver on their promise like all good heroes they get reluctant and preach about not committing a crime. I can maybe let that slide once, but the duo repeatedly commit this awful comic book stereotype multiple times in the last several episode to the point that it is beyond a joke, and just blasphemous.
Speaking of villains, I was pretty high on the second season of Daredevil until they introduced the mystical Japanese ninjas known as ‘The Hand’ into the mix. For the unaware, they are the equivalent of the TMNT’s foot clan soldiers and Daredevil treated them as meaningless cannon fodder. Apparently, Marvel loved them so much they decided to double down on The Hand as the primary villains for Iron Fist. The bulk of the season is spent contradicting Daredevil by making The Hand appear as the ultimate threat, because…ninjas, but it is impossible to take them serious at all, and eventually they again become worthless cannon fodder. Most characters are written poorly that it is impossible to get behind anyone. The only couple of saving graces from this show being a straight up failure are Jessica Stroup and Rosario Dawson’s performances as Joy and Claire, respectively. I was a big fan of Stroup in The Following and she and Dawson are the only two that shine in this mess of a show. Grade: D Legion – This show is officially part of the X-Men universe, but I would not blame you if you did not make the connection because as only a casual X-Men fan myself I did not notice any of the popular mutants from the acclaimed Marvel series here. It only seemed the term ‘mutants’ was only referenced a handful of times throughout the first season’s eight episodes. Legion is incredibly hard to follow. Mix X-Men, Split and Inception together and that is essentially Legion. Dan Stevens (David Haller) is the star of the show who gets locked in a mental facility as he learns he has split personalities and the ability to jump into other character’s dreams, and like Inception those dreams have layers and you can jump into multiple dimensions of dreams.
It all got extremely difficult to follow, but like Gotham I eventually turned my mind off and accepted whatever they threw my way. Being a FX show, Legion pushes the envelope with its content and there are some extra graphic scenes with the powers doing some lethal damage. For better or worse, the show evolved into ‘shock TV’ so I could see whatever jaw-dropping moment would transpire next. I had a very loose idea of what was going on by the end of the series, and I would benefit greatly from rewatching the Legion, but I have so many other shows to grind through. I will give this an unorthodox recommendation if you are into seeing a bunch of weird and crazy scenes for shock value alone with a mildly cohesive plot on top of it. Grade: B Riverdale - I am only two episodes into this and cannot give a conclusive grade to the show based off the hit light-hearted high school comedy line of Archie comics I grew up with. This show is so not that, they bring over nearly the entire cast from the comics, but with a hard TVMA rating. Once it took me an episode to get over the fact that the cast is in their sophomore year of high school and everyone looks AT LEAST 10 years older, I instantly got hooked on the show. Riverdale takes the approach of Twin Peaks and Veronica Mars with a murder happening at the beginning of the season and the show spending the season trying to discover what really happened. The show stays topical by having new twists on characters that were not the case in the comics like certain sophomores being homosexual, having ADD or engaging in flings with teachers. I imagine there will be a few more to come once I get further along into the series. There is still a lot of the teeny-bop high school drama in here, but the show easily masks that underneath the big murder mystery at play and a cast that is well over high school age. I am intrigued and look forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out.
