havent gotten to dbz yet but truly the more i find out about dragon ball the more silly the "sonic maliciously ripped off dbz, everything parallels PERFECTLY" thing becomes to me
#sonic is definitely influenced by dbz but it didnt rip it off.#i think ppl forget that sonic wasnt originally a story heavy series and the super forms werent stuffed with lore yet beyond the one mural#at least iirc#so the super sonic transformation being a super saiyan one wasnt like an original story concept at the time. it was a fun reference#and when it DID get its own thing then it got separate lore to go with it#i think whats pretty malicious about this argument is that it sorta hinges on you not having seen both shows#like when i was a kid and people were insisting sonic ripped off dbz and all the characters were the same#then like. i was assuming vegeta was a test tube baby who was mistaken for goku and had angst towards humans#i was assuming that the dragon balls made you super saiyan bc thats what the emeralds do#you cant have a shonen inspired protag have a super form anymore guys you cant have 7 artifacts cause dbz did it#and the character comparisons are so silly. like they cant decide whether tails is gohan or krillin#tails is gohan cause. hes a little kid who's around the protag. hes smart#shadow kicks silver in one scene and yknow i THINK shadows his dad in the future so theyre basically just vegeta and trunks. cant fool me#chi chi is just like amy cause shes a mean love interest which has also never been done ever#echoed voice
