age swap au fic where everything is the same except that peter/spidey’s group switches with tony/iron man’s.
peter takes tony’s place. mj takes pepper’s. ned takes rhodey’s etc etc. “i am spider-man” press conference, tony sneaking out as iron man/becoming peter’s intern, may helping run the company, howard being a dick/owning a small business or smth — you get the gist
iron son and spider-dad i guess? tony (not lacking in intelligence) wanting to be as kind as peter and terrified of losing another good father figure in his life. peter “oh my fucking god kid if you’re not gonna stop at least let me show you the ropes” parker meeting tony during an expo/tour.
i want to see teen tony in high school desperately trying to be normal with his dad on his back about MIT and his tiny business or something. i want to see adult peter running a company with his besties and being loved as spider-man and trying so hard to help out some traumatized and angry kid in a rocket powered tin can.
this has tv show vibes to me in the best way

Let’s Review || Chapter 19
Peter Parker knew that his big sister would do anything for him to be safe and happy. She’d given up everything for him twice over already and would do it again in a heartbeat. And that’s why, when the criminal mastermind Tony Stark started inextricably following him around, he didn’t say a word. Because he knew without a doubt Penny would do whatever she had to if it meant keeping Peter safe. He had to protect her, just like she always protected him. He never considered what would happen if Stark decided both Parker siblings were worth taking. Never considered who else in Stark’s inner circle would agree. He just wanted to protect her and yet somehow, they both ended up with needles in their necks.

Penny did not, in fact, stop earning extra swats at all and by day 3 had stopped sitting on her butt entirely, much to the quiet amusement of the soldiers. Steve had ordered more silk shorts and a pair of joggers that were soft enough she could wear them without too much pain. She was petulant and precious and far too tired to be as angry as they knew she wanted to be. He and Bucky had rotated taking days off since the incident, doing their best to try to engage with her.
Some of the things they'd learned were as follows:
1. Penny's father had died when she was very young and she didn't remember him. He'd been Israeli, Jewish, and had lots of family Penny had never met. Peter's father was who she meant if she said 'my dad', a man from Queens who'd married her mother and loved Penny like she was his own (she missed her parents awfully, at all times and got tearful while talking about them).
2. Penny called herself stupid and dumb and an idiot on a regular basis and truly believed that Peter had gotten every IQ point her mother had to offer; it was a bad habit and bothered both of the soldiers—she was so smart and they regularly had difficulty keeping up with her intellect, her thought process was just very different from most people's.
3. Penny liked watching TV and movies and anything that had come out since her uncle Ben died was new and exciting. She would let them hold her for hours while they watched movies and talked through all of them with a witty and precious commentary. She didn't care for movies that made her cry.
4. Penny hated reading. Steve was pretty sure it was because it was difficult for her and wondered if she had the disability that flipped letters around but couldn't ask lest she got upset. If there was something that needed to be read in a movie or show, the soldiers had taken to reading it out loud immediately and unprompted.
5. Penny desperately enjoyed and craved skin contact, to a point where Steve and Bucky were wearing less and less clothing because Penny would come to them when they weren't wearing shirts. She would ask to watch movies or TV because it was an excuse to lay on them with her cheek against their skin. Her tiny shorts were a constant but she'd shifted to wearing tank tops instead of long sleeves shirts and the soldiers liked it.
They'd thought from the beginning that skin contact could be their ticket in, Penny preened under careful touches even if she tried to hide it but it became more and more clear as the days went on. The daily spankings made her incredibly sensitive, mentally, and the extra contact seemed to be a coping mechanism. On the first day she'd tried to curb the desire with the kittens, carrying them around as much as possible but it quickly became clear it wasn't quite the same. While the little short-legged kitten had come to basically live in the spot between and directly above Penny's boobs, the orange one with impossibly chubby cheeks was more distant and preferred to simply be in the same room with people rather than held and touched (Bucky adored both kittens but the fucking tiny legs killed him, he loved it so goddamn much). But kittens were not a good replacement for a very warm super-soldier.
Steve had gone for broke the night before, sleeping in a pair of briefs instead of joggers and a beater. Penny had stayed firmly on his chest the entire night while Bucky, wearing boxers and a t-shirt, had been left with just a single cuddly kitten tucked up under his chin. The brunet had gotten up early for work, scowling jealously at the way Penny cuddled against their lover so sweetly; he almost told JARVIS to call in for him, he could've shucked his shirt and joined the pile of warm sleepy bodies. Tony was still not entirely pleased with them though (especially once Steve had dropped their plan to head into the Rockies for a few months) so it was better to head into the office. He kissed Steve soundly and pressed his lips gently to the back of Penny's head before heading out, depositing the kitten in his hands onto the cat tree in the living room on his way.
Steve laid awake in bed for another two hours, savoring the way Penny felt against him. Their babydoll was small and precious and fit so well against him. Her legs splayed wide over the smallest part of his waist, her head cushioned against his chest. She'd been sleeping or laying on them in similar positions since the first spanking (she'd even let Bucky carry her around after her spanking the day before, as long as his hands stayed far away from her ass). He could feel her slowly starting to wake up and ran his hands up and down her back under her tank top.
He wasn't expecting the way she started to tremble, or the tears spilling down onto his chest. She didn't make any noise but her breaths came in little hiccups, her head tilting further down as she tried to curl into herself.
"Baby? Penny doll, what's wrong?" He sat up, keeping her legs wrapped around his waist and enough of an angle to his torso that her weight wouldn't press her down to sit on her ass.
She said something, but it was disrupted by hiccups and a small sob and Steve's heart broke just a little when he couldn't understand. When Penny spoke in Hebrew it was usually on accident, she was either too distressed or too scared to notice she wasn't speaking English. Steve's ears perked at the sound of bells, eyes going to the door of their bedroom where both kittens were trotting into the room. The short-legged kitten often appeared whenever Penny cried and the orange one followed but stayed near the door. It was far too small to jump onto the bed so Steve dangled an arm over the edge until he felt fur brush his fingertips, scooping the kitten up and depositing it between his and Penny's chests. The little thing purred like a motorboat, tucking into Penny's shirt and between her boobs where it generally spent most of its time.
"Shhh, baby, it's okay," Steve brushed his lips against her temple and her cheek, continuing to run his hands under her shirt, "can you tell me why you're upset?"
The sounds she made were borderline heartbreaking and he figured for a minute she wasn't actually capable of answering until she spoke haltingly between hiccups, "it hurts, it h-hurts, s-so much."
Penny's ass was already shades of blue and purple, even if Steve was sure Bucky had gone easy on her the evening before. The little smacks she earned in between spankings only served to ignite the burn.
"Oh, doll," Steve cooed, his expression pulled tight and his chest feeling even tighter; he hated the distress she was in, the pain, "hold on, I've got the arnica right here."
She whined when he moved her legs and slipped off her shorts, leaving her naked from the waist down, and grabbed the tube from the bedside table. They had hidden several of them throughout the apartment so they'd be handy at all times. In general, Penny appreciated the relief it provided but the application made her cry even harder, even as Steve used the gentlest touches he could. Her ass was still hot to the touch and would be for days and days.
"All done baby, I'm all done," he'd applied the cream as thickly as possible, a visible layer on her bruises, "let's leave your shorts off, okay? You don't need them."
Personally, he'd like for her to walk around naked at all times, he liked seeing her little pussy peeking out, but it really would feel best for Penny not to have anything on her ass. She was still crying, not quite as hard but he could still feel the tears against his skin.
"Okay baby, okay," he murmured, lips returning to her temple, "we're gonna skip your spanking today, alright? We can't tell Bucky or he'll make me, so you have to pretend I did understand?"
Penny nodded tearfully against his chest, "thank you, thank you, thank—"
"Shhh, it's okay baby, it's okay."
Steve spent the entire day with Penny in his arms, carrying her carefully from room to room or laying on his chest on the couch or in the bed. The pillow on her chair in the dining room (her Princess Pillow, a term Penny did not like and had led to her refusing to use it for meal times—but only until dinner on the first night, after two spankings had left her very uncomfortable) went unused just because she never actually sat on her own, instead rested on Steve's hip while they both ate over the sink.
He honestly hadn't intended for anything sexual when he forewent her shorts that morning and he knew Penny didn't have any salacious goals either. It happened purely on accident while they lounged on the couch watching an action movie, Penny enjoying the way Steve could pick apart the movie's shortcomings. She'd sat up for some reason and her pussy had ground against his abs causing her entire body to still, an aborted noise escaping her lips as her clit hit a ridge just perfectly. Steve's hands found her hips quickly and he kept her from lifting up, gently stroking her bare skin.
"Hey, hey, you're alright," he murmured softly, hoping not to trigger an escape attempt, "that felt good, didn't it babydoll? Here, do it again, lemme help."
He used his hold to manipulate her hips, rolling her cunt over the bumps of his abs again, twisting her slightly at the end to really grind her clit. She moaned, breaths coming just slightly faster as he continued to move her hips in the same pattern, carefully holding her to prevent her ass from brushing anything that would cause pain.
"That's good doll, that's so good," he praised, feeling her thighs clench ever so slightly as she started to work herself against him, "good girl, Penny, chase it. Make yourself feel good baby."
Her wetness spread over his abs, aiding the slide of her cunt against his skin. She even canted her hips the way he'd manipulated her, the twist at the end dragging her clit against the ridges of his abs in a way that made her pant. Her lower lip found its way between her teeth and Steve did his best not to moan at the sight; she was working herself over beautifully above him. Her pussy was so slick he imagined he could feel her arousal dripping down his abs and rolling over his skin onto the couch. She rocked hard, hands coming to rest on his chest for leverage and he could see how close she was and the exact second she started to get frustrated. A whiney moan escaped her, the twist of her hips more pronounced as she tried and failed to bring herself off.
"I—I can't, " she whined, thighs clenching tighter, "I can't—"
"Shh precious, come here, let me help you," he lifted her easily by the waist, pulling her up until her pussy hovered just over his mouth, arms coming around her thighs to hold her tightly, "I'll fix it, baby, I'll make you cum."
His mouth sealed over her clit in and she yelped just before a long moan escaped her lips. Steve was good at eating pussy and enjoyed it deeply, the taste of her filling his mouth and coating his tongue. She was musky and tangy and he decided he could eat her out for hours if she'd let him. Her pussy clenched as he swirled his tongue inside of her, her thighs twitching as his nose bumped her clit. He waited until he could hear her begging for release before refocusing on her clit, the sensitive little button all but throbbing under his tongue as he began a truly exquisite onslaught.
"Oh.. Ohhhh, I—oh no, oh no," he smirked against her cunt as she seemed to realize she was about to cum all over his face, her cheeks lighting up red at the thought and her thighs attempting to gain enough strength to lift herself up.
Steve tightened his arms around her thighs and held her firmly, pussy sealed against his mouth with no room for squirming. Her lower body began desperately twitching as her orgasm built. He focused his tongue on her clit, working happily as she got louder and louder, her hips desperately rocking in his hold. The noise she made when she came nearly made his pop off in his briefs, loud and pitched and desperate. It tapered into breathy pants and whines and he stopped just before she became too sensitive for comfort, tongue lapping up into her cunt. Her cum was the same earthy flavor as her arousal and he cleaned her until she started to squirm.
Her face was so endearingly red when he resituated her on his abs, directly onto the wet spot her pussy had made on his skin. She couldn't meet his eyes and he smiled, stroking his hands over her thighs gently.
"Lay down baby, the movies not finished yet," he told her softly, pulling her down to rest against his chest again with her head on his peck and she stayed that way for the next two hours, until Bucky for home.
Bucky's eyebrow had gone up when he walked in after work, the first thing he saw being Penny's bare ass and pussy from between her splayed legs where she lay over Steve's chest on the couch once again. The blond had signed 'don't ask-don't ask-don't ask' quickly before Bucky could even open his mouth, instead choosing to walk over and kiss both of them before heading into the bedroom to change. Well, mostly he just undressed down to his briefs and called it a day, obviously clothing was optional if not frowned upon in their apartment at the moment. His day had been relatively easy, the interrogation he'd done had gone by fast and after that it was just paperwork. Tony's companies, both legal and illegal, had a whole slew of enemies. Steve was good at finding them and Bucky was good at retrieving information from them.
"Remember what we talked about precious," Steve murmured to her as Bucky walked back into the room, the blond's eyes finding his with a careful expression on his face, "be a good girl, be sweet."
A squeaky meow interrupted his thoughts and Bucky reached down to scoop his favourite kitten into his arms. The orange one brushed against his ankles with a quiet purr, a little welcome home, before she retreated into the cat tree once again. He was worried because Penny hadn't named either of them yet but didn't know how to bring it up without upsetting her, and she was already so upset all the time. In his head he called the short one Munchkin and the orange one Chubs (for her little chubby cheeks).
"How was your day?" He asked casually, noting the way Penny's eyes met his from under dark lashes like she had a secret.
Judging from the way Steve gave a short 'later' hand motion, she did, but it wasn't something the blond was worried about and that meant Bucky wasn't either. Besides, he liked seeing the life in her pretty eyes today (she was half-naked on Steve's chest, unconcerned that her legs were spread, and looked almost happy—she could've killed 6 people and bathed in their blood and he wouldn't have cared because she almost smiled at him).
"I already called down for dinner, it should get here in just a few minutes," Steve sat up, cautious of how Penny was arranged to make sure no pressure was put on her ass, "Penny needs arnica and her shorts, can you do it while I run to the bathroom?”
Bucky nodded and swept her up into his arms, cradling her tightly in his arms before falling back onto the couch and grinning when she immediately glared up at him, “I missed you today baby.”
“I didn’t like that.”
“You don’t like anything I do precious,” he pressed a kiss teasingly against her forehead, “let’s get this arnica on your poor ass, huh? Steve must’a already given you your spanking for today.”
“Yeah.” Bucky’s eyebrows jumped high on his forehead; it didn’t take a master interrogator to figure out she was lying.
The hesitation to answer was the most obvious give away but she wouldn’t look him in the eyes either, a finger coming up to his chest to trace shapes against his skin. Lying to him was ballsy but he remembered the hand signals he’d received from Steve upon entering the apartment, the blond’s cryptic words to their babydoll while she thought Buck couldn’t hear. So instead of calling her out for the deception her grabbed a bottle of arnica from the end table and started very gently rubbing a layer into the bruised skin on her ass.
Her little whimpers hurt his heart, but the full tears were what made it crack. She was likely at her breaking point for pain, where the punishment didn’t fulfill its purpose anymore. He’d bet Steve had realized the same thing and had held off.
“Almost done babydoll. Steve! Bring her shorts with you when you come!”
There was more squeaky meowing and he dropped his hand over the side of the couch without looking, scooping up Munchkin and dropping her onto his chest right between himself and Penny. The kitten hated being away from Penny even after such a short time.
“What movies did you watch today? Have I seen them?”
Penny hesitated for just a few seconds before she gave a short commentary, not noticing the way Steve walked out of the bedroom and up behind her. A quick few hand signals ‘food-sleep-talk’ told him that the blond wanted Penny fed, in bed, and asleep before they got a chance to talk and flashed and ‘okay’ behind her back. It didn’t take long to fulfill the list, Penny was out like a light with a very small dosage of sleeping pills (not enough for her to notice, just enough that she’d sleep through the night).
The soldiers kind of assumed it was like having a toddler; during the day they had to watch what they said, if they got much of a chance to talk at all, and the dynamic between them had changed while they focused on getting Penny settled. Nights were when they had the chance to talk, it helped that they didn’t need a lot of sleep, and they honestly kind of enjoyed lying in the dark with their babydoll laid out across their chests, talking quietly over the sound of her breathing. It was certainly a good way to decompress after a long day and the pair fell asleep in the early hours of the morning, Penny on Bucky’s chest and Steve wrapped around them both from the side, a kitten or two thrown into the mix somewhere.
Bucky woke immediately when the blond shifted, slowly starting to wake up for work. It was Steve’s turn to go in and he had a meeting with Tony too—Steve was much better at dealing with the eccentric billionaire than Bucky was, especially when it came to the topic of Penny. Despite the fact Steve had been the one who wanted her originally, Bucky was the one who’d become more overtly possessive and he didn’t like Tony butting into their business.
“Take care of her, I’ll see you in the evening,” Steve bent over to kiss him lightly, lips trailing to brush against his cheek lovingly before he stroked a hand through Penny’s hair and gave pressed his lips to the back of her head, “love you.”
“Love you, punk, go to work,” the brunet ignored Steve’s wry smile, instead shifting Penny to lay next to him on her side, curling his body tightly around her and tucking her up against his torso while Steve left.
She’d be up in an hour or so, would probably want to go lay in the hammock in front of the windows. She sunned herself the same way the kittens did, taking little cat naps in the sunshine between attempts at knitting. He could feel the small changes in her breathing as she started to come to and smiled; her forehead burrowed against his chest, her nose brushing his skin lightly. But then she started to tremble and a small whimper escaped her and she was reaching for him and there were tears in her eyes—
Bucky swept her into his arms immediately, carefully arranging her the same way they’d been doing for days to keep the pressure off her ass, “Penny, talk to me baby, why’re you crying? Did you have a bad dream?”
“The stuff—the lotion—” she hiccuped and he felt her hips jump in his hands when the side of her ass brushed his leg and she yelped, “it hurts, it—”
“JARVIS, remedies for bruises,” Bucky ordered, immediately lifting them both off of the bed and heading into the bathroom.
“Because this is the second morning Ms. Parker has woken up in pain, I have taken it upon myself to order several items to be sent to the apartment, including hypericum perforatum. There is an aloe vera plant in the living room which can be used for pain relief after a bath, which I shall add witch hazel and lavender to, along with epsom salts for the swelling.”
“Thanks buddy,” he responded absently, the steam from the hot water immediately settling over his skin when he stepped past the doorway; the bathtub was already filling, “can you hold your weight baby? Just for a minute.”
Penny nodded tearfully against his chest and he carefully rested her on her feet, gently manipulating the waistband of her shorts over the curve of her ass. He could see in the mirror that her skin had retained its deep red tone, purple and blue splotches concentrated on the fullness of either cheek. It wasn’t anything permanently damaging, just very painful. He pulled her tank top off and dropped it to the side with her shorts, listening as the faucet kicked off.
“Alright baby, let’s get you into the bath,” He quickly shucked his briefs and stepped into the water, helping Penny in after even when her breathing hitched at the movement, “you’ll lay against my chest, just like usual.”
Once they were situated, Penny with her head tucked under his chin and his arms around her back, Bucky couldn’t help but smile. He could see why Steve hadn’t gone through with her spanking yesterday, there was simply no need. Penny might not have trusted or liked them but she reached for them. When she was in pain she reached for them to help, to fix it, and knew that they would, where in the past you couldn’t have gotten her to ask them for anything, let alone help.
It was a significant step in the right direction, Penny succumbing to a piece of her new life. She didn’t chafe under his hold, wasn’t stone still or angry. She was in pain and seeking comfort and help and she knew he’d provide it. He knew she was a stubborn little thing, the concession of just a bit of her space wasn’t the end of her fighting, but it meant something and the soldiers could work with that. During interrogations, the systematic deconstruction of a person’s will and mind meant that when one wall fell the others were very close to follow. Penny could still fight if she wanted, but it was only a matter of time before she conceded the battle.
Patience wasn’t Bucky’s strong suit but he would wait as patiently as he could for her to crumble in his arms, after all, it wouldn’t take long now.

Breaking Bad
Breaking Bad (on ao3)
by celestial-irondad
2, 352 words
hello! this is a (late) fic for @princessmisery666’s challenge with @technically-a-little-dragon as co-creator. happy birthday and i hope you enjoyed this little something! (i mentioned tony stark a little since i couldnt help myself, but it’s very brief)
beware of cut!!
----
“I am not in danger, I am the danger,” Peter said as he took two deep breaths. “In fact, hydra should be scared. I’m coming for them and nothing can stop me. I am Peter Parker, I am Spider-Man and I am not afraid of anything.”
He kicked down the heavy metal doors to the hydra base, wincing when the door unhinged and made the loudest ringing noise that seemed to resonate throughout the building. He rushed to pick the doors up, leaning them against the filthy wall, holdings palms out in case they fell again. He heard Bucky chuckling over the comms, followed by the clicking sound of his safety going off.
“Yep, kiddo, you laugh in the face of danger, don’t you?”
Peter sighed, wishing the rest of the team was with them, but they were all around the world for various missions tasked by Shield. Natasha was in Budapest with Clint again, doing whatever they were doing. Sam and Steve were in Wakanda for a mandatory meeting about something Peter can’t quite remember. Bruce and Tony were back in the compound, working on the latest updates for their weapons and equipment. And Rhodey was on medical leave, having eaten something… unpleasant the day before. This left Peter and Bucky to deal with this mission— a rescue mission for any potential victims residing in the hydra base.
When they reached the mission site, both superheroes realised there was no way to source for the victims if they didn’t split up, so with great reluctance, Bucky told Peter to meet him at the rendezvous latest by seven in the evening. Peter nodded reluctantly and did as he was told, hence his little pep talk for himself.
The moment he truly took into account his surroundings, Peter felt something unpleasant churning in his gut. His spider-senses were going haywire, screaming danger, danger, danger in his ears, but Peter just chalked it up to being in a Hydra base and continued in his search for the victims.
Meanwhile, Bucky was also feeling the same unpleasant feeling, instincts screaming at him to leave, but he had a mission to do, so he sucked it up and continued onward. But something was definitely off, Bucky knew. Usually, a Hydra base would be filled with scientists, guards and commanders, but this particular base had nobody in it, completely empty, save for Peter and Bucky. The lights in the building were flickering, dim to the point of being unable to see and the doorknobs were so rusty that even a non-enhanced could break them.
All these pointed to one very obvious fact, realised way too late: this hydra base had been abandoned. Bucky cursed himself for not noticing it sooner, causing the spider-ling to be in danger. Fear thrummed in his veins as he reached for his comms to contact Peter and tell him to get out of the building as soon as possible. Just as he neared the entrance he used, a voice suddenly made itself known, creating a static in his ears that made him realise that his communications system with Peter was offline.
“Intruder alert. Self-destruction activated,” an automated voice spoke, before metal shutters started coming down from the ceiling, about to trap everyone inside to prevent them from escaping. Bucky cursed again, running faster and sliding under them right before they hit the ground. Before he could calm himself from the adrenaline rush, the building collapsed, some of the debris hitting Bucky along the way, temporarily immobilising him. Bucky could feel his survival instincts coming in, the way Winter was pushing forward to take control of his body.
‘Mission objective: find and protect Peter,’ Bucky managed to tell Winter right before he faded back into his conscience. He trusted the soldier enough to carry out the self-assigned mission, something that didn’t happen often. They were forced to survive, not to have any wants or likes.
Winter crawled out of the rubble when it was stable enough, immediately starting to dig his way through the chaos to find Peter’s thin body. Before Bucky’s anxiety made Winter panic, they heard Peter's short breaths through the comms and could tell that he was either in the midst of a panic attack, or was about to have one, but at least they knew that the spider-child was alive. They took off in the direction of Peter’s location, with Bucky thanking the lord for the technology the world had in his head.
“Hey, Bucky? You there?" Peter’s voice was too soft over the comms and they could practically feel the panic choking the kid. Winter could faintly hear panicked breathing and broken sobs over the comms as they desperately tried to find Peter. The spider-child must be terrified, buried under the building. Bucky winced as he watched through Winter’s eyes, his heart feeling as if someone wrung it like a cloth and proceeded to stab a thousand needles in it. Damn it, where was Peter?
“Help, I-I’m stuck! I’m stuck! Please... Bucky please help me— I… I…” Peter was crying over the comms and even though it hurt their enhanced ears, he didn’t lower the volume nor did he turn it off. He could hear thudding and crying and silent screaming and Bucky wished they hadn’t split ways in the first place.
“Hold on, kiddo,” Winter’s voice was deeper than Bucky’s and he said the nickname in Russian to let Peter know he was in control. “I’m on my way. You still there?”
It was radio silence on Peter’s end and Bucky’s anxiety was going to consume them whole if the spider-child was hurt in any way. Winter dug through the large slabs of cement, throwing it like they weighed nothing, through snow slapping his face, some even entering his eyes and making him tear up.
No matter how much he denied it, Winter knew he was tearing up for a whole other reason.
When the soldier found Peter under the disaster, he was cradling an unresponsive girl to his chest. Winter could tell that she was dead. From her pale complexion and her malnourished body, the soldier knew there was no possible way she could have survived the collapsing building. Even so, watching Peter’s tear stained face was almost enough to break the cold-hearted Winter Soldier.
Subconsciously, Winter assessed Peter for any injuries. His leg was bent unnaturally and chances were he had a few cracked ribs. His black suit was ripped, exposing quickly bruising skin. As soon as the adrenaline wore off, Peter would feel the cold and the pain of his injuries. Winter would have to ensure they got to their rendezvous point before then.
In a moment of uncharacteristic behaviour, he knelt next to Peter, placing his metal arm on the dead girl, slowly prying her out of Peter’s thin but strong arms without him noticing. His flesh arm was wrapped around Peter, trying to provide a comfort he wasn’t used to. The young hero was mumbling, seemingly too out of it to even realise it.
“I… I’m sorry,” he whispered, his voice broken, dejected and forlorn. “I’m sorry I didn’t protect you, Uncle Ben. I’m… I promise I’ll do better! I swear I will— I’ll save…”
Winter winced, having no idea on how to break it to Peter that the girl was dead, so he pulled the smaller body closer to his side, hoping the warmth they were giving off would calm him. The soldier hadn’t seen Peter like this before, so bruised, so hurt, so lost, but still so protective of someone he hadn’t even met in his life.
“Peter,” Winter called his name softly, forcing his voice to be comforting, trying not to use his default monotone voice, the same one used to report back to his handler when he was under Hydra’s command. The kid needed his comfort right now and Winter was going to do whatever it took to ensure he was safe.
Once the soldier managed to wrestle the dead body out of Peter’s strong grip, the first thing he did was throw it away from them. He knew it was cruel and disrespectful to someone already dead, but he couldn’t risk Peter gripping it with his super strength. There was only so much Winter’s strength could do against Spider-Man.
Peter thrashed in Winter’s hold as soon as he realised what was happening. “Wint— what are…? No! Stop!”
Winter couldn’t even manage to carry Peter into his arms before he was escaping his hold, crawling on broken legs to the dead body. The soldier’s heart ached for the child, who was so young but already knew of death and destruction.
“Hey, kiddo, it’s okay, you’re safe now. Let’s go back to the quinjet, okay?” Winter coaxed, putting his arm gently on the kid to not scare him. This soft side of the usually cold and threatening soldier was new to Winter, but he knew what he had to do in order to keep him safe— to keep them both safe.
Peter shrugged his hand off his shoulder, reaching out to the dead girl. Winter frowned, the clock in his head ticking like a bomb, calculating how much time they had left before Hydra came to inspect their base for potential survivors.
“Pete, we gotta go,” he tried again, but when the kid ignored him yet again, Winter knew he had to harden his resolve. He slid his knife out of its sheath and, with his mind made up, threw. It was quick, of course. The Winter Soldier never missed by accident. He couldn’t miss, or he’d have to deal with an angry handler and Hydra’s torture methods.
But, the scream that escaped Peter as the white snow stained red was almost enough to wish he had. It nearly made him flinch, his heart feeling like shattered glass as he approached the kid, who was trembling like a leaf.
“Wint— Winter, why… did you do that?” Peter’s voice was barely even a whisper and if it weren’t for their heightened hearing, Winter nor Bucky would’ve heard it. Peter sounded like a parent who witnessed the death of their child. It was awful and heart wrenching.
If it were Bucky who was in control, he would’ve flinched, but even so, the soldier was known for being heartless, after all. It was only recently that he learnt how to love again, how to care and protect again.
“Let’s go, kiddo,” Winter tried again, voice soft, “you’re bleeding out and injured. Let’s go back to the tower and patch you up.”
“No! How could you— how could you just kill her?” Peter shouted, voice cracking with the emotions he was feeling. “I… I had a responsibility to save her and you—”
The ticking in Winter’s head was getting louder and so was Bucky’s panicked shouts to get them both out of there before Hydra found them. So, with a heavy mind and an even heavier heart, Winter knocked Peter out with the safest method he knew how, using his flesh hand and hoping to God he didn’t hit too hard.
Gently gathering the kid into his arms, Winter took off in the direction of their rendezvous point, hoping Shield had received their distress signals when their comms went offline and sent back-up. He nearly collapsed when he saw the quinjet they came in next to the Shield jet, relief coursing through his veins.
Winter ignored the agent waiting by the aircrafts in favour of demanding they get back to the compound as soon as possible. He didn’t even see her face in his haste to get onto the quinjet, Peter still limp in his arms. Tony had been extremely firm when he said Peter was not to be harmed in any way, shape or form, but no one had expected this to happen.
Both Bucky and Winter knew they would have to do a lot to gain back the trust of Tony Stark, adoptive dad of Peter Parker. Everyone knew how protective the saviour of the world got whenever it came to the— his child. Especially when it came to his spider-child.
The man had lost the child, once, seen him fade to dust right before his eyes, right in his hands. Nobody would blame him if he was more than just a little over-protective of the child.
Bucky knew he would be, too.
Growing restless by Peter’s unresponsive body, Winter started pacing around in the jet, wanting to go and hunt for the Hydra members but wanting to stay by Peter’s side in case he woke up. Before he could wear the jet down, a firm hand pressed onto his shoulder, stilling in his movements.
“Soldier,” the agent from earlier greeted, voice emotionless and Winter quickly realised that the agent from earlier was Maria Hill, not by Fury’s side for once. “I’ll take care of the kid. You go do what you gotta do.”
Winter faced the agent, eyes narrowed in distrust, stepping closer to Peter’s body and Maria immediately raised her hands in surrender to show she meant no harm, that she was planning no harm. “Will you feel better if I said Tony was the one who sent me when he received the distress signals?”
“Ton— Stark sent you?” Winter asked, body relaxing slightly. If Tony sent her, then she would mean no harm. He was overly cautious when it came to the kid, so unless he was absolutely sure Maria would do no harm to Peter, she wouldn’t be here.
Maria rolled her eyes. “Why do you think I’m not with Nick, right now? I owed Tony a favour, so here I am.”
“If you hurt him, or if he’s hurt while under your care, I’ll kill you right after I come back from killing them,” Winter said, voice rough and eyes hard. Maria nodded, rolling her eyes again and waved him off. Winter grunted, snatching the parachute from the corner and tugged it on before jumping out of the aircraft.
It was time to test if Shuri managed to get his Hydra programming out of his head.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Pool Guy cp.4
“Pete?” Harry’s voice carries through the library, just above a whisper but still politely quiet. I raise my hand so he can find me. For the last few weeks I’ve been trying to find all the information I can about the 1941 super soldier project. Up until now everything’s been a dead end, but now- now we’re getting somewhere. “What the hell?” Harry whisper yells at me. “This better be good, you can’t just go texting sos when there’s not a emergence.”
“Okay well maybe there isn’t really an mergence but I needed you here.” I miss the slight flush that blooms on Harry’s cheeks as I turn back to the public documents. “So you know how I haven’t been able to find anything on the experiments?” He nods. “Well I think I may have found something.” I pull the papers out.
On the front page sits a man clad in the star spangled banner only it’s in the form of a suit. He’s huge, the woman next to him looks like a doll in comparison. The headline reads Captain America’s homecoming parade.
“So what does this mean?” Harry asks.
“At first I thought it meant he was coming back from overseas, but then I read the first paragraph and-” Harry skims over the first few sentences on the page.
“The New York native comes homes for a special show- but that doesn't make sense why make a super soldier and then have him play dress up and show tunes?” He has a point.
“Look I don’t know, but I do know that in 1918 there was a Steven Grant Rogers born in Brooklyn.” Harry looks at me and then back at the papers.
“So this man is Steve Rogers? Captain America?”
“If what Doctor Octavius told us was true then yes. As far at these documents will tell me Steven tried to enlist but was rightfully denied, he had a lot of issues health wise, but his best friend James was enlisted in 1941.” We sit in silence for a while before Harry stands up stright and starts pacing.
“So this man, Captain America, what happened to him?” He asks.
“I don’t know, there’s really nothing else on him here.” He continues his pacing while I look over the documents again.
“What about James?”
“What about him?” I look at Harry.
“What happened to him? Is he alive? Does he have family around here still? Can we talk to him?” I hadn’t even thought about contacting the Barnes family.
“Uh, I don’t know.” Now I’m standing, moving quickly toward the Librarian’s desk. “Hi,” I greet when we get there, the older woman behind the desk smiles.
“Hi, Peter, how can I help you?” She asks.
“I need to look for records on a James Buchanan Barnes.” She nods her head and types the name into the public records. “I’ll go get those for you.” Harry makes a noise behind me and I turn around.
“What?” I ask.
“If we aren’t supposed to know about Captain America, or Steve, then it might not be the smartest idea to be publicly looking them up.” He says, and anxiety suddenly over takes me. He’s right, but it’s too late now I’ve been at this for weeks now.
“Well I guess I must be on the FBI watch list by now.” I shrug and Harry laughs. The Librarian comes back a few minutes later holding a large stack of files.
“This is all we have on Jame Buchanan Barnes as well as his immediate family.” She hands them over to me.
“Thank you.” Harry and I head back to the corner on the library that should really just be labeled ‘For Peter’.
After hours of sorting through all different types of documents I come across the military form stating that James had gone MIA, which puts a bit of a damper on the search but I not really ready to give up and Harry’s still willing to help. Hours go by just the two of us and just as the library is about to close Harry comes across a birth certificate for a one Rebecca Barnes. The next few minutes are spent charming the Librarian into searching her up for us seeing as the library is about to close it takes a small miracle but by the end we have an address. We decide that since tomorrow is Saturday we might as well check it out.
“If nothing else we could talk to the people there and see if they know anything about where the Barnes’ went.” Harry concludes as we pull up to my house in the town car he’d called for.
“Or we’ll find out that there’s nothing left of the Barnes family and that this all was for nothing.” I add helpfully which makes Harry roll his eyes.
“Look Pete, it’s not the end of the world if this doesn’t lead anywhere you know?” He tries to catch my eyes with his but I avoid him. “Why are you so obsessed with this anyway?” He asks.
“I’m not, I’m just curious,” I lie, I can’t let Harry know about the weird things that have been happening to me recently. “Aren’t you?”
“No, not really. I mean yeah the missing information on those papers was weird but it could just have been things that they weren’t ready to share with the public. You know scientist do things like that with their research.” He says flippantly.
“If they didn’t want their research out there they wouldn’t have allowed the exhibit at the museum to happen. This isn’t just protecting their findings until they’re ready, the purposely omitted the information. And now Steve Rogers? The man damn near close to being a ghost.” Harry’s eyes widen at my use of damn, I don’t cus often.
“Why is this so important to you Peter? This isn’t just curiosity anymore. What aren’t you telling me?” He pushes, I turn away ready to run away but I’m stopped when he pulls me back turning my head gentle so I’m looking at him. His hands rest on either side of my face, and eyes searching my mine worriedly. “Tell me please, Pete. You can trust me.” I open my mouth a few times before shaking my head.
“Really Harry, I just want to know. This stuff could be dangerous, think about Doctor Banner.” He sighs but doesn’t move away from me.
“Okay, but if this Barnes thing doesn’t go anywhere promise me you’ll stop looking into it.” He says holding out his pinkie to me. I hook my own around it reluctantly, looking down.
“Yeah okay.” I whispers, still looking away until he tilts my head back up so I’m staring into his eyes. We sit like that for what seems like forever before he moves leaning in. His eyes drifting from mine down to my lips and backup asking silently. My breath catches as he comes within a centimeter of my face. A smug look pulling on his face.
“Well?” He states challengingly. I don’t even think, I just move, pushing into Harry and feeling his lips on mine. It’s a mess and I know it, but Harry really doesn’t seem to mind as he takes control. Angling my head just so and letting himself into my mouth and I go willingly. The haze that’s settled over my mind is hard to see through and focus solely on the boy kissing me. When we pull apart I’m breathless and panting like I’ve just run a mile.
“Tell me, How was it?” He asks a smirk pulling at his dangerous lips, and I punch him for it. He grabs his shoulder. “Ow! Pete!” He exclaims.
“Don’t be a jackass.” I pull away completely, righting myself and trying to make it look like I just had- was that a makeout session.
“You wound me Pete, really.” He laughs, but grabs my hand before I can reach for the door again pulls me against him and kisses me quickly but fiercely. “Goodnight.” He whispers against my lips sending shivers down my spine.
I spend the rest of my night being interrogated by aunt May and uncle Ben because I apparently looked like a schoolgirl, blushing like a virgin, which I am so. I got little to no sleep that night, way too excited about the prospect of figuring out the mystery that in Steven Grant Rogers. When Harry texts me that morning telling me he’s on his way I don’t even have the nerves left to be anxious about seeing him again, my whole focus is on the task at hand. May tries to get me to tell Harry to come in as I run around getting ready to leave, I kiss her on the check before I close the door firmly running down the walk up to where the car would pick me up.
My hands tremble as I stand there waiting. What if Harry’s right and this goes nowhere? Can I really give up the search? I need to know what’s going on with me, and I can’t do that without knowing what happened to Steve. But if this fails what do I really have left? I doubt I could get anyone else to tell me about the 1941 experiment much less Doctor Banner’s failed experiment. As the car comes down the street the feeling of dread beings to take root in the pit of my stomach.
“Hey!” Harry calls as he opens the back door for me from the inside. I nod weakly sliding in. “You okay? You don’t look too good.”
“I’m just- worried.” He sighs and nods.
“Look if this is that important to you Pete, we don’t have to stop here. I don’t want you to give up on this if it’s something you really need closure on.” I look at him and smile.
“I hope we won’t have to look too much further.” I say feeling like I might have already spent too much time on this, but then again this could explain everything, and would I really be okay with never knowing? Doctor Octavius said this might have something to do with the explosion at Oscorp. The explosion that killed my parents, and if that’s true I would never forgive myself for not seeing this through.
Before I know it we’re pulling up outside an old neo-georgian townhouse. The building is more impossing than it would normally be but that's probably just because of the nerves. Harry stands next to me as we get out the car suddenly seeming hesitant, feeling bold I hold my hand out to him, he looks startles for a moment before he takes my hand smiling encouragingly.
“Let’s do this, huh?” He nods toward the door and starts to walk. I can feel how clammy my hands are in his but he doesn’t seem to care the unmistakable curve of a smile tilting his lips. As we stand in front of the door I consciously pull his arm closer to me chest wrapping one hand around his upper arm as he knocks. We haven’t been standing there long when the door opens relieving a nurse.
“Hi?” She says obviously surprised to see someone visiting. “Are you lost?”
“I sure hope not.” Harry gives her that smile that always seem to get him into some kind of trouble, good or bad.
“Who are you looking for?” She relaxes in the doorway.
“A Mrs. Rebecca Proctor?” He asks, the woman is almost taken aback as if she’d expected us to say another name so she could sent us on our way.
“What business do you have with her?” The woman sounds defensive.
“We were hoping to ask her a few questions about an old acquaintance of her brothers.” Now she seems even more impressed, but also sceptical.
“Who sent you?”
“No one ma’am.” I speak up feeling as though having Harry do all the talking isn’t fair. “We were working on a project and came across a few documents that lead us to her brother, James.”
“He went by Bucky.” She smiles opening the door up further. “Come in, I’ll let Rebecca know you’re here.”
“Thank you.” Harry sighs relieved, he turns to me. “Happy?” He asks. I smile widely nodding.
“Yes, very.” I pull on his arm a little. “Thank you for coming with me.”
“Anytime Pete.” He pulls me in quickly kissing me and then turning to move into the house. I’m stunned for a moment before I move to follow him. I find him in the drawing room, or really living room, on the walls are pictures some old some more recent. The most noticeable picture is of a young man in full uniform with a half smile. He looks proud to be serving for his country, with his strong shoulders set back, but also humble. He’s very handsome, the epitome of an all American man.
“He was something wasn’t he.” A soft voice from behind me break Harry and I out of our staring.
“I would say yes, however I only have eyes for one-” I can’t help but laugh as Harry speaks.
“Please stop there before you embarrass yourself.” He can’t help the grin that pulls at his lips and you can tell because of the obvious twitch of him trying to keep a straight face. The woman sighs.
“You remind me of them.” I turn to her now.
“Them?” She looks at me in a stern way.
“Don’t play at ignorant with me. I know you came to ask about Steve, Bucky was quite the man yes, but it was Steve who made a lasting impression.” I feel my checks flame at the accusation.
“I’m sorry ma’am. From the documents I read I believe your brother was a hero for that it’s worth.” She smiles but it seems sad.
“Yes he was but I think you’ve confused my anger, and I apologise for slashing out.” She sighs and nods. “Why don’t you sit down, this is going to be a long story.”
Hours later I feel- numb, lied to, and sad. How could they remove him from the history books after everything he’d done for us? Why let him fall into the folds of history? I understand her anger now. “How do you know all of this?” Harry asks.
“Most is confidential, however a good friend of Steve’s found me not long after the war and tried to explain that my brother and Steve were the unsung heros. Steve more than Bucky, but then again those boys never could do much without each other.” She has a fond distant smile on her face.
We stay for a few more hours talking with Rebecca, she insisted we call her that, about her family and her grandchildren, by the end I’ve promised to come and visit again and Harry says he’ll try. As we’re leaving Abbigail, her nurse brings us a plate of cookies thanking us for the visit, saying that Rebecca doesn’t get many visitors and this was good for her. I try my best not to cry as we get into the car.
“You are such a crybaby.” Harry says pulling me into his side.
“It’s sad! And there’s nothing wrong with crying!” I defend while he laughs.
“No nothing wrong with crying.” He’s quite for a moment before he asks- “So what now?”
Sniffling, I sit up a little. “I don’t know. It’s not like we can go to the north pole and politely ask Santa if he knows a Steven Rogers.” He hmms.
“No, not really.”
