People on tiktok acting like WALL-E isn’t ableist because of bone density in space as though the people don’t all decide to walk anyway in the end and also no child is leaving that movie with the thought “huh I guess if you spend a long time in space you become fat and disabled through no fault of your own”. As a fat and disabled child I took away the message “you’re fat because you’re disabled and you’re disabled because you’re a lazy greedy person who is ruining the environment and doesn’t deserve for other people to care about you” but what do I know, I’m just a guy in this world

#yes wall e genuinely made me think me veined fat was causing the earth to become uninhabitable #and it’s part of the reason I still can’t handle discussions about things like carbon emissions bc I’m convinced it’s my fault because I #can’t walk instead of taking a car #like we had an environmental week in elementary school where everyone was supposed to walk to school #obviously now I know that didn’t apply to people who lived far enough away they had a right to public transportation #but back then I really thought my teachers expected me to walk anyway #and I guess I just internalized some of the shame of not being able to do that
