Ack I just discovered that the app I use to change the LED light settings in my room has unlimited permission to turn my Bluetooth on "as needed," which in effect means i literally can't turn it off Ever when im in my house
#i really hate that. i would much rather manually connect every time#ive been feeling so grody about my phone bc of this. like i literally cant turn bluetooth off#like we already know the phone listens to us tracks us and sells our data even when we use the most ''secure'' privacy settings#and now on top of all that my phone wont even let me control when or where it is allowed to scan for other devices in proximity#thats so fucked like im willing to make a personal sacrifice on my data and privacy for phone perks#but i really dont want my phone scanning everything and everybody. im not a narc!!!!

Try (Chapter 1): Just do it.
Pairing: mark x reader x Johnny
Genre: smut fluff undercover Au
Warnings: mentions of drug addiction, cocaine addiction, drug ring, taeyong being a tyrant, y/n being stubborn
Note: I’m sorry TY seems like an asshole in this story. He will get nicer I promise
Note 2: this chapter has no smut.
Read the preview first!!!!
Y/N loathed Doyoung with every fibre of her being, and the feeling was mutual, but Doyoung was nothing compared to the jackass she had to deal with now since D was recovering from that accident which almost killed him.
D understood she had been hacking since she was 14, and gave her a free reign on anything tech related.
Taeyong? Not much.
“What do you mean you can’t extract the data files from the server?”
“We can, but I’m not going to do it. They recently installed some new defence technology that can track everything. We risk getting found out if we extract anything from the server. Then there goes our entire operation.”
Taeyong glared, fist tightening.
“Listen. I don’t want any more excuses. I want the files. By tomorrow. I thought we already discussed this, Y/N.”
“And I made it clear I won’t do it, Taeyong,”
She said firmly
The whole room was silent, tension in the air so thick you could cut a knife through it. Kun looked down, pretending to write in his notebook. Taeil got up and announced he was going to the restroom.
Mark took out his phone. This was going to take a while. He might as well order lunch.
But he was listening, as Taeyong and Y/N argued, both refusing to give in.
“Look, if we get found out and the operation fails, I’ll be the one bearing the responsibility, not you, Y/N. We seriously don’t need to talk about this further. The files, by lunch tomorrow. Understand?”
Y/n looked away.
“Hey Taeyong,” said Taeil who had returned with a cup of coffee. “How about I work with Y/N on this? I’ll speak to my guys undercover at the targets headquarters to see if they can physically extract the info.”
Taeyong’s face softened as he turned to Taeil.
“Your guys can do it?”
“Yuta is in the field...”
“Yuta’s drinking and coke problem has gotten worse,” Y/N scoffed. “I saw him at the club last week.”
“We’re looking for a solution here not bitching at every idea,” Taeyong snapped. He turned to Taeil. “Let’s do that. Work with Y/N.”
Y/N grinned as Taeil smiled affectionately at her like she was his baby sister. Never mind she was 2 months older than he was.
“Let’s do it!” She said.
He found her on the roof in the next evening. He knew she’d be there.
“Hey,” he said softly as they leaned against the railing looking up at the stars in the sky. “So how’s operation Rainbow coming along?”
“Yuta managed to sneak into the CEO’s office and extract the data from his computer. It’s in Taeyong’s inbox now.”
“Everything?”
“Yeah. All the amounts and bank transfers. And emails. We also got info about who they’re canoodling with. Turns out this whole operation is larger than we thought. We’re talking multimillions, maybe billions here. It’s really a drug ring disguised as a family business selling school uniforms for kids.”
“You just made it sound like a movie.”
“Yeah mark, with a coke snorting, booze guzzling anti hero. His head is going to be so big.” She gestured animatedly
Mark laughed as Y/N grinned.
Silence.
“You ok?” He asked, wondering if she was going to mention hacking at 14. “Taeyong has been tough.”
“Taeyong’s an idiot. I’ve been hacking since I was 14! What does he know about tech stuff?” She huffed, eyes growing huge as he chuckled.
“What?”
“I knew you’d say that.” He giggled.
She smiled, then grew serious.
“We’ve worked on this for two years. Imagine all that going to waste just cos he insisted we hack the servers.”
Mark sighed. “You know that’s just Taeyong, dude.”
“I miss going on operations.”
“I’m sure they’ll let you go back soon.”
“Not anytime soon. I’m training Kun and Lucas.”
“Lucas?” He said teasingly. “Must be fun.”
“Don’t.. I don’t want to talk about it.”
“That bad huh?”
“I wonder if he’s even computer literate.”
Her phone beeped.
“It’s Taeyong.” She rolled her eyes. “I gotta go. He wants to see me in the study.”
She opened the door to the study. he was looking at some paperwork at his desk.
“You wanted to see me?” She asked plopping herself down on the chair opposite him. He looked up.
“Good work on getting the info we need. They’re sending in a squad in the next few days for a raid after everything has been analysed.”
“Taeil and I work well together.” She said. He agreed.
He put his pen down.
“I’m going to be honest with you. I’m not a fan of you disrupting our operations. Because you refused to extract the data I had to look for alternatives which could have delayed us. We’re lucky Taeil could help.”
She froze. Not again, she thought. She bit her lip. This was a losing battle.
“In future if I tell you to do something just do it. Do you understand?” He asked looking straight at her.
Silence.
“Yes. Is that all?” She asked standing up.
He nodded.
She left without saying anything else.

Joshua 11:1-12:24, Luke 17:11-37, Psalms 84:1-12, Proverbs 13:5-6
Today is the 15th day of April welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian and welcome to the bull's-eye I guess, the center of another month as we keep passing day by day through time and allowing God's word to wash into our lives each day. It’s great to be here with you in the middle of another month, the fourth month of the year. So, we’re reading from the English Standard Version this week and we’re working our way through the book of Joshua. And we finally got across the Jordan River. It's a place that we’ve been heading for most of the year, we finally got to cross into this mythic Promised Land, and we've seen it's been nothing, but battle and it's been nothing but disruption since they came into the land. They’ve had to fight. And kings have been making alliances to create greater and greater armies to fight against the Israelites and Israel keeps winning. So, like in yesterday's reading the kings that would be in the central like Jerusalem area on the lowlands and all the way to the coast, gathered to fight against Israel and lost. Today even more powerful kings in the north are gonna create alliances to try to get these Israelites out. Joshua chapters 11 and 12 today.
Commentary:
Okay. So, as we’ve been traveling through the Gospels, where in the third of the four Gospels now, the gospel of Luke we've been chasing this kingdom of heaven that Jesus is announcing, the kingdom of God. And according to Jesus those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, can see it, can hear it, can sense it. But where is it? That's the irony because we often even think about it, as maybe a new Jerusalem coming out of the sky, maybe a time when Jesus will rule and reign forever on the earth, a time where maybe we’re absent from the body but present with God. Like It's something that's yet to come, it will look like something, but of course it doesn't look anything like anything that we look around and see now. It's yet to come. The people that Jesus was ministering to including the religious leaders wanted to know the same thing. When? When is it coming? And Jesus most explicitly answers this question in the Gospel of Luke. So, I quote Jesus here. “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed nor will they say, ‘look, here it is,’ or ‘there’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” Okay. If you’ve 10 people and you’re all standing together where would, “in the midst of you” be? It would be in the middle. It would be around wherever you are. But what if there's only you? What…where is in the midst of you? Well, in the midst would be in the midst…it would be in you, right? So, you're not going to be able to observe a big building going up that will at some point at the very top have the kingdom of God imprinted on the top of it. No other building. No other movement. No other thing that can be boxed and labeled. Jesus said, nobody’s gonna be able to go, “look, here it is”, or “it's over there. You're looking in the wrong place waiting for something to come that not coming because it's already here. It's in the midst of you.” So, eyes to see and ears to hear this kingdom means that we understand that the kingdom is within us. If we want to find the kingdom then we don't look to buildings or products or movements or boxed items that we can sell or books or music, we look at other people. It's within us, it's among us, it's in the midst of us. So, if that is the case then for us to move toward the fullness of God's kingdom means that we have to move in that direction. We have a role, a collaborative role to play because the kingdom is within us, which means that wherever we go, so goes the kingdom. If we let that sink in it's pretty overwhelming. It's pretty huge because that means we have a role to play in bringing out and bringing about the fullness of the kingdom. And this gets real personal when we understand that the choices, the thoughts, words, and deeds of our lives today are going to either affirm or deny that the kingdom of God isn't buildings, is not nationalism, is not a big strong military. That's the kingdoms of the world. God's kingdom is within us and is very powerful within us according to Jesus. Even faith the grain of a mustard seed is enormously powerful according to Jesus. So, if you we want to look for God's kingdom, we don't look for it in closed borders and hysteria, we don't look to our politicians for it, we look within, we look around at each other. We are it. Think about that today. How could that change the way the rest of this week gets lived?
Prayer:
Jesus, it's somewhat shaking. It's…on the one hand we’re looking for this great display of amazing power and yet we acknowledge that You are always in the understated. The great power comes through the understated. At least that's how it mostly happens in the Scriptures. That's certainly how You conducted Your earthly life Jesus, as it's portrayed in the Gospels. But to get our minds around the fact that we’re already in it, it's already happening is…is…is like trying to understand eternity. That's also something that we defer, like it's something that begins when we die when eternity encompasses all of time and it is beyond time. We’re in it right now in the same way that we are in and are the kingdom. Give us eyes to see. Awaken us. This changes everything. If this gets to sink into our soul, this changes everything. It makes every moment a vital moment. It means that although we may be waiting for the fullness of this kingdom, we are participating in that. This is happening. Show us how with our very lives, we can go into the world and announce this Good News because this is the Good News of the gospel. Come Holy Spirit into this. Help us to meditate upon this. Help this to sink deep into our identity, into our soul we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website, it is home base, it's where you find out what's going on around here. So, certainly stay tuned and connected to each other and to what's going on around here.
I mentioned yesterday some of the story of the Daily Audio Bible app and its development, the fact that we've retired the previous edition of the app. We’ve kind of had two simultaneous apps running at the same time for the last year and a half just as we build our own infrastructure and our app and just all of the…just all of the learning curve involved. We’ve kind of reached a point now where we are achieving some of the big…the big goals. We call them big rocks, but big goals that we've been working toward for a long, long time. And, so, I thought, you know, it's time…it's time to just kind of walk through the app for second to give those who are experiencing for the first time just a little bit of a flyover and those who have been using it maybe for a long time just a little bit of insight. It's pretty simple but just a couple of small things will go a long way and I thought I would just do that altogether. So, I don’t have the benefit of a video screen, but this should only take a couple minutes. So, if you have your phone, your device, your tablet, your or whatever and you have the Daily Audio Bible app and you launch the Daily Audio Bible app the first thing that you will see, likely, especially if it's your first time will be the login screen. You log in, because then your personal journey and all that's associated with your personal journey is available to you from like the checkmarks of the days that you've read to the achievements that you will achieve as you go through the Bible to your favorited episodes to your journal entries to whatever. You login to get to your personal stuff. You don't login, you can use the app as a guest but can’t…it doesn't…I mean it doesn't know who you are, so there's no way to keep track of anything for your benefit. And I have found over 15 years of this, any encouragement, any encouragement to keep going is a good thing, any sense of accomplishment as we move to the Scriptures, the ups and downs that life brings us in a year is a good thing. So, anyway. You login. You have an account already with the Daily Audio Bible, you login and you can do it from any device and all of your devices will work. For example, you could check that you've listened to a day on your phone and go back later on your desktop computer or tablet device and all the data…like your checkbox is there. It happens instantaneously. You can…you can have like two devices up at the same time and check one of them and watch the other one check off. Like it happens instantaneously. And that cloud-based technology is pretty complex, and it’s taken us a long time to get there but we’re there. Okay, so once you've logged in and you see the channels screen and you can pick, you know, you’re listening to Daily Audio Bible or you’re listening to Daily Audio Bible Chronological or it’s the Proverbs or the Psalms or one of the other languages. That's your channel selection screen and once you've selected your channel then you will see all of the episodes associated with that channel. That's all pretty straightforward and intuitive. But let's talk about that Episodes page of that Channel page that shows you all the different dates and all the different episodes that you can listen to. On that page, or that view just above where you see all the different dates, you’ll see something that says “All Episodes” and then you'll see to the right of that three little dots. If you click those little dots. There are some settings, settings that you can personalize. For example, you can filter out things, you can filter to only the favorited episodes that you have for the year. If you're looking back for something that you wanted to hear again and you favorited that, you can narrow it down or you can narrow it down to days that you wrote in the journal and try to like find those things a lot easier. At the bottom of that settings page you’ll see off-line episodes and that's where you tick the box if you want to download the episodes in advance rather than just straight up streaming them. If you tick that box, then you instruct the app to download the episode in advance to your device. Okay. So, if we get out of that settings page and go back to the Episodes page and we’re just looking at the different dates we can listen to. Up at the top and kind of the upper left-hand corner you'll see three lines, it’s like a little drawer icon, very top left. If you click that that does open a drawer and the first thing that I want to point out to you on that drawer page is at the very very bottom. You'll see that your logged in and you'll see your name or whatever unless you're not logged. If you’re logged in, you'll see that your logged in and to the right of your name, you will see the little Gear icon. That’s a Settings page. Click that and you will see all of your user settings. And most of those are very very self-explanatory. But one setting says Listening. And it's called Off-line Episodes. If you click that button. This is where you can decide how many days you want to keep downloaded, one day, two days three days, or a week. And you can also instruct the app whether to keep those downloads or if you want them to be deleted from your device after you've listened to them. So, that's basically kind of how you control the different things on the app. Now, in that Drawer…in the drawer that we’re talking about you'll see other things like the channels page, which is the page we came from, you'll see Achievements. This is brand-new. It’s attached to your account. It keeps your personal progress as you move through the Bible. That is attached to the fact that you’ve checked off the days that you've listened to which you be able to see your progress as we move through the different sections of the Bible. The other things that are in that drawer menu, they've been there so you may or may not be familiar with them, but now you…I mean the pretty self-explanatory, just play around a little bit. Okay, let’s go back to the episodes page, the one that shows the date and all the different episodes throughout the year that…that we listen to, the…kind of the main screen that we use. Before we go into an episode let's just look at that screen for minute. It’s showing us all those different dates that we could listen to. Now if we pick one of those dates and swipe to the left, we’ll see that we can favorite that episode or we can mark that episode as completed right from the episodes page. So, that's a good thing to know. Now let's click a date and go into the Episode screen. That's where we see the play icon and how long the episodes gonna be and we can skip forward and skip back and all that. So, probably somewhat familiar with that screen. At the bottom of that screen is a “Mark as Listened” checkbox. So, you can check the box from there as well. So, I showed you two different ways to check that you've completed an episode - swipe right or be here on the play screen and click it at the bottom. Now also at the bottom to the left you’ll see a Star icon. That's favoriting an episode. If there was an episode that the Bible spoke to you in a specific way at a time that you needed, that happens to every single one of us pretty much. Happens me all the time. But if it's something that you’re like, “I need to not forget that”, you can Star that episode. That way you can filter back and find the ones that you're looking for. Okay to the right of that is like a little screen with an arrow. That's a common thing. That's how you can, you know, throw the audio to a Bluetooth device or something like that. And then to the right of that is another little icon with points connecting to each other. That's a Share button. You can share any episode to anyone that you want, however you want, however your phones set up to do it. So, that's how you get around and navigate there. Now at the top of that screen, and again this is the Play screen like where we’re listening to a specific day. The very top you'll see, “Listen”, you'll see a tab that says “Read.” If you click that tab, then you can read along with today's reading and the translation that we’re using. And to the right of that is a button called Journal. If there's something that you need to jot down real quick, something that the Bible is speaking to you, something that you need to remember, this is a place that you can jot your notes and they can follow along with you on that specific day. Like if you favorite an episode and you've written a little journal entry about why that's important to you and three months from now, you're like, “what was that thing again?” Now you can see how you can find out the episodes that were favored it, the things that you wrote down and find what you're looking for so that you can be reminded along the way. Okay, at the very, very top of the screen you'll see kind of the header, that's where you push the Drawer icon to get the drawer to open but on the other side of that you see the little Hotline button and I talk about that little Hotline button all the time. That’s the button that you push in order to share right from within the app and that is a hotline. You got the app and you got a phone no matter where you are in the world you have a way to reach out. And then to the right of that is the Give button. If you want to throw another log on the global campfire and help us to continue to develop this technology and build community in ways that we have no blueprint for. Okay that is a very very brief flyover, but we've been working really really hard to not make it a complex app. We’ve…we have tried, and we continue to try to make it as simple and as intuitive as possible so just kind of listening back through what I've shared here, along with the app then you pretty much know how to do whatever you want to do inside the Daily Audio Bible app. And if you don't have the Daily Audio Bible app, this is…this is a good time…this is a great time. This is a time of rejoicing. We've worked really, really hard to get here and we released this version last week. There’ll be an update to this version before the week is out here just a small kind of maintenance one. What happens is you…you do a big release and you've tested it for weeks and you’ve like done everything possible to break it until you have it like working right, and then you release it into the wild and you find all kinds of ways that things can be done or used on different phones and devices and different kind of connections and then you know, kind of learn some different areas that need to be tightened up. And, so, there were thankfully just a couple of things and those are being tightened up this week but we’re really really excited, honestly, honestly, really excited about where this is all headed because this is finally turning a corner in some of the dream that’s been dreamed for years just seeing the light of day, like the introduction of this achievements and where we earn badges as we move through sections of the Bible and where at a glance we can kind of see where we are as we move through these sections of the Bible. This is a dream come true. It's something that I've felt in years, like five years ago, like if we could do this, if we could…anything that will encourage us forward is a good thing. So, super excited to have this see the light of day. Super excited for you to be familiar with the Daily Audio Bible app and to be able to use it successfully as we take the journey of a lifetime through the Scriptures.
Okay, if you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, I cannot thank you enough. We literally would not…there would be no Global Campfire if we were not all here together and we were not all fueling it in some way. And, so, thank you. If what we’re doing as we navigate the Bible and navigate a year of life together in community, if that brings life to you and encouragement then thank you for being life-giving back. So, there's a link on the homepage. If you're using the Daily Audio app that we just went through you can push the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or the mailing address, if you prefer, is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.
And, as always, if you have prayer request or encouragement, you can hit the Hotline button in the app, the little red button at the top or you can dial 877-942-4253.
And that's it for today. I'm Brian I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.

How We Are All Going to Die Laughing
The other day, I was looking at a post made by one of my favorite internet comic artists. The guy used to be something I’d read in the army newspapers, next to the adds for cheap TVs at the post exchange, but these days it’s mostly a facebook feed I occasionally read. The artist and writer behind “PVT Murphy” (though these days Murphy’s a sergeant, I’m aging after all it seems) was annoyed at Facebook showing him a shopping page offering what amounted to white nationalist (US neonazi, if you prefer) paraphernalia.
Now, I pointed out that this was what the robot had concluded he wanted to see, and honestly none of us should be surprised by this. Military members lean right, and in the age of Trump this means that radicalization is around every corner- though for the record it always has been. In some insidious ways with a cancer of racists and bigots among our ranks, sure, I know because being gay I was targeted by a few myself, but also in more subtle ways.
I once watched a man scream at some Iraqis who were emptying a waste bin nearby, screaming that they didn’t get him, because he’d been the target of an IED attack two hours prior. Those men had no way in hell of having anything to do with it, but the guy that hit us got away free and the trash guys looked like someone he could defiantly vent his feelings of helplessness and victimhood upon in a vain effort to reclaim his power. I’m not condoning it, I’m just saying that sometimes the path to prejudice isn’t paved with propaganda and privilege.
I have every faith in the artist who draws PVT Murphy himself, but if you attract the attention of a lot of white supremacists, then probably the robot is going to conclude that you might want to look at some of the things that all the people who like your posts are looking at. Hence the shop page that offered a wall pinup of a templar knight preparing to smite the saracen to defend (white) Christendom with a few crass remarks about Islam written on it.
Now I explained, in truncated terms, how the robot made this call. The artist wasn’t excited about this explanation, and in fairness no one is excited about the black mirror showing them something ugly, it’s almost like an automated attack. But the machine was really just trying to be helpful. It wasn’t programmed to be sensitive to racial issues, and certainly the people who took out the add didn’t take that into their considerations. It identified a pattern and arranged the delivery of data that conformed with its instructions based upon the data input.
Now, some right wing dude decided to join in this discussion to point out that the robot didn’t know what it was talking about, included the terms “lib” and “snowflake” in his post, and suggested that if the robot had any idea who he was it wouldn’t keep showing him liberal content- after all he always used the laugh react on it. I pointed out this part as well, but I’d like to go into a deeper analysis for this discourse.
The right, and perhaps a lot of people using the reacts on facebook, has decided that you can use the laugh react to express a dismissive chuckle to the words of others. I think this has several sweeping, problematic implications.
First, the people using the internet are using it to each other, and are either unaware of the robots they share the internet with or ignorant regarding how they function. The robots do not interpret Laugh as a dismissive gesture. The data they gather from this is that you were paying attention to something and decided to put a reaction on it. The Laugh react is not a downvote on reddit, the robot, innocent little helperbot it was made to be, assumes you are amused by the thing you clicked on, and so endeavors to further tickle your funny bone. In short, it’s your good-natured wholesome friend who doesn’t understand the difference between you laughing with liberals and laughing at us. It thinks we’re all friends.
This leads to the second problem. If you are a conservative and you do not care to be bothered with leftist posts, then using the laugh react doesn’t help you at all. It further engages you with the content that annoys you. The stuff that caused you to try and put on your dismissive “ha ha tawdry communist drivel” mid-atlantic aristocrat voice is going to keep appearing. If you’re the sort given to conspiracy theories (and you are my bro, you still hate Hillary for the pizza thing), you might draw the conclusion that you are being targeted by leftist internet operatives, spamming your feed with leftist propaganda.
The truth is you’re spamming yourself with leftist content because your socially clueless helpful robot pal is gonna go out and find more things for you to laugh at. You’re not special or important enough for leftist internet operatives to target your facebook feed with propaganda attacks, and you have damned yourself to an experience on facebook in which you are bombarded with annoying or even blood-boiling content. All of this guidance, by the way, is equally applicable to left leaning users of the laugh react as a dismissive gesture.
What this does is contribute to people’s paranoia. It makes them believe that an enemy that doesn’t exist is trying to get into their heads. It fills their electronic lives with incendiary content that makes them angry and it encourages them further to continue to have generally unproductive electric arguments with people that they disagree with, leaving them exhausted by a brain full of cortisol.
Personally, I think the Left’s electric sin is more to do with our frankly superior witticisms (sorry Right, you invented and stuck to Nobama, you’re just not witty) and the craving so many of us seem to have for delivering that sick burn one-liner so cutting and succinct that it stops the conservative dead in his rhetorical tracks seems to consume online political discourse on the left almost as aggressively as call-out culture does when arguing among our own.
In the effort to sell us more things by pandering to our professed passions, the capitalist internet has created an electric rage engine that wraps you into one heated argument after another among people who are not listening to one another and who are learning to disengage from hard discussions. This last part is so dangerous to our democracy.
To be clear, I’m not lamenting the death of compromise specifically. There can be no compromise on the income gap, healthcre, free elections, or the rights of people who are darker in skin than I. But the electric rage engine makes it difficult to even have conversations about these things in the real world, and if you’re not talking to the people you disagree with face to face in the here and now, your chances of finding compromise are precisely zero percent, nevermind actually changing their views.
Have you noticed yourself having conversations with people that could just be copy pasted almost word for word off the tumblr where they “informed” themselves about this topic? I’ll bet that you have. Or else, more dangerously, you have begun to avoid having such conversations at all with people. Have you ever been in a discussion turned friendly debate with your friend and realized after a few moments that the debate isn’t suddenly so friendly? I’m willing to bet it’s been a while, so much so that you might even be shocked if it happens.
People like to go on about how fraught the holidays can be because of how politically charged family dinners can be, but I can’t remember such an experience within the past ten years. No throw down arguments, no discussions about the merits of one tax policy or another- we can’t even seem to discuss weighty matters with people who are blood kin anymore unless we already know they agree with our own views- and thanks to the electric rage engine, we can know, in precis, what their views are and what we think about them as a result long before we ever think about what to put in our covered dish. The opportunity for someone stepping into a landmine social or foreign policy issue at family and social gatherings has been eliminated, and with it the ability of the dinner table to serve as a place for families to reach consensus by resolving their arguments. We don’t talk politics with people who disagree with us in the real world anymore, we all just avoid it and spit our venom on the internet, achieving nothing but our mounting unhappiness and dislike for one another.
I have a young colleague at work, maybe 25, who demonstrated the ability to just promptly end a discussion last week. Now it was a nonsense discussion and in fairness the participants had gotten into trolling him for kicks, saying a blue shirt was green on purpose or some other nonsense, I don’t remember the particulars. But what I do remember vividly was the ease and efficiency with which he was able to simply end the discussion, how disengagement came so very naturally to him. I despise the phrase “agree to disagree” because it means that the argument hasn’t been resolved, but it is at least a sign that there was actual thought going on between participants. No such gesture here. My colleague put down the conversation and simply went back to his work with all the ease with which you might put down your phone when you decided you were done arguing with someone, and the ability to do this in realspace chilled me to the bone.
Moreover, there is a certain epistemological nihilism that has arisen among us, suggesting that no one can truly know anything because the sources of information, with whatever omissions or biases they may possess, are a matter of consumerist choice rather than objective fact. We can’t agree on what is real anymore because if you dislike someone’s account of events, you can simply get someone else to present a more palatable story and declare the other people liars.
If you don’t like what you read on NBC, you can simply tune to Fox to hear it told in a way that you choose to consume, often playing to your appetite for validation rather than your need for actionable information. We like feeling right, and the consumerist information economy has identified that as a means to get our attention long enough to upload some ads along with our news video of choice.
If the very identity of a person can be expressed by a computer algorithm and 4 or 5 hundred clicks across news articles, think pieces, and shopping pages, how easy will it be for the people who do understand how the machines work to begin influencing who we are?
In closing, I think every single one of us is developing a progressively more toxic relationship with the internet, particularly when it comes to political discourse, and I think that if we aren’t especially careful our ability to simply shut down and switch off, while healthy on the web, is going to begin invading our lives in the waking world in insidious ways that will hurt our ability to function as a cohesive society. I think that the marketing robots and the very act of making a profile and posting to it things that are important to you are dangerous influences on our sense of identity, and that by wrapping our sense of identity in the ideas and products that we consume in such a contrived, calculated fashion that we are restricting our ability to be flexible in our thinking, making us less able to get along with one another.
I’ve been on a soft departure from Facebook for a good while now, making it my loose rule to stick to messenger and instagram because I like indulging my vanity but for the most part I want to be interacting with people directly and not selling myself for likes when I use these things. Real attention from real people is much much better.
In 2020, I invite you to join me in kicking facebook or your own social media vice altogether and bringing our political lives and our debates back into the real world so that we can practice and re-acquire the skills of persuasion and discussion; not as a cynic call to begin trying to convert every conservative we can find, but for the sake of a political discourse that serves as less of a battleground with immovable ideological fortresses and more of a crucible in which the useless can be burned away and useful consensus and meaningful, mind changing-discussions can be had once again. We cannot afford to keep unsubscribing from one another if our democracy is to survive. (<- leftist witticism addiction in demonstration)

How to Promote Your Blog in 2019: 9 Creative Strategies
Whether your blog is brand new or already established, you can never have enough traffic.
Seriously…
I work at an SaaS company called Ahrefs, and even though the Ahrefs blog pulls in over 200k organic traffic every month, we still experiment with ways to promote our blog and bring in more traffic.
Because let’s face it:
It’s 2019. Simply sending an email blast to your subscriber list doesn’t cut it anymore.
But don’t fret.
If you’re stuck coming up with new ideas for how to promote your blog, here are 9 tried-and-tested tactics that have worked for us.
Let’s dig in.
#1. Work with Podcasts
Let’s start things off with the buzzword of the year: podcasts.
Thanks to their flexibility (you can listen to them while you’re at work or when you’re on the go), they’re the most popular form of audio content.
They’re also widely available on services like iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify.
Some quick facts:
Over 44% of the US population has listened to a podcast;
They’re extremely targeted, with multiple podcasts covering every niche imaginable;
Their audiences are incredibly engaged.
Ahrefs has had great success with sponsoring podcasts (paid advertising) as well as guesting on them — that is, sending a member of our team to be interviewed on a show.
Here’s an actual comment from a new customer and blog reader of ours:
For sponsoring podcasts, think of this tactic as a type of influencer marketing.
Your job is to sell your blog to the podcast host and the podcast host’s job is, in turn, to sell your blog to their audience.
How to Promote Your Blog by Sponsoring Podcasts
If you have the budget, sponsoring podcasts is a great way to promote your blog. Here’s how you do it:
Step #1. Do Your Research
Create a list of podcasts whose audiences are a good match for your blog. If you have no idea where to start, here’s a tip:
Try using a specialized podcast search engine like Listen Notes. Browse the shows and pick your favorites.
Step #2. Make Contact
Once you’ve created a list of targets, you’ll need to contact the podcasts and inquire about sponsorship details.
What are their pricing packages? What dates do they have available? Are there any gotchas?
Prices can range from $50 to $5,000 and beyond per episode, so work within your particular budget.
Step #3. Iron Out the Details
This includes your ad copy, delivery, and any other deliverables like your blog’s logo and elevator pitch.
In my experience, organic reads do much better than “scripted ads.”
The goal is to get the podcast host to sound like a fan and regular reader of your blog.
Step #4. Wait for Your Ad to Air
If anything is off, be sure to let the podcast know as soon as possible!
How to Promote Your Blog with Podcast Interviews
If you’re strapped for cash (or simply don’t want to do podcast advertising), another approach is to appear as a guest on podcasts.
This is usually free — unless you’re approaching extremely-popular podcasts, which tend to charge a one-time appearance fee.
The catch is you’ll need some kind of credibility to your name. In other words, you’ll need to convince the podcast host that you’re someone their audience would love to listen to.
The process for this is similar to the one detailed above:
Step #1. Create a Target List
Use Listen Notes or a similar tool to create a list of podcast targets.
Step #2. Check if They Accept Interviews
Often, podcasts will explicitly state on their websites whether or not they accept interview requests.
And if they don’t accept interview requests? Ask anyway.
Send in your pitch and convince them you have lots of value to add.
Step #3. Follow the Host’s Lead
Every podcast will have their own process. Some may want to do pre-interviews, some may want to work on a rough content online with you, and some may want to just “wing it.”
Whatever the process, remember to be courteous and respectful — you’re a guest, after all.
Just don’t forget to mention your blog!
Editor’s Note:
Appearing on podcasts is one of our favorite promotion strategies here at Smart Blogger — as evidenced by our appearances on EOFire, James Altucher, Duct Tape Marketing, the Write Podcast, and Loz James’ Content Champion.
Just make sure you’re prepared:
Show up early to the interview so the host has time to do a sound check.
Don’t use your phone or your laptop’s built-in microphone; instead, invest in an external microphone. Quality and price points vary, but you can get a simple microphone that plugs into your computer’s headphone jack for the price of a medium pizza.
Use headphones to cut down on echoes.
Turn off all notifications and, if you can, shut your door to minimize background noise.
#2. Republishing on Medium
Sure, you can publish tons of absolutely amazing posts on your own blog.
But if you never extend your reach, whether it’s by growing your list of email subscribers or boosting your number of social media followers, your audience will be limited.
So what do you do if you don’t have time to create promotional content and extend your reach?
Try this:
Republish your existing posts on blogging platforms like Medium.
Your content will be seen by a whole new audience — some of which will then visit your blog and discover all the great content you have to offer.
For example, look at this blog post I published on the Ahrefs blog last December:
It got 463 shares and 43 comments — very decent engagement considering the fact that the topic likely didn’t appeal to our blog’s core audience (people interested in search engine optimization).
In a bid to push the post out to a wider audience, we republished it on Medium. It turned out to be a fantastic decision.
Here are the stats as of March this year:
That’s 13.6k views in total, with 22% of readers actually finishing the whole post.
Plus, the Medium publication of this post averages a steady trickle of 10-30 readers every day.
Note: For the SEO-conscious among us, Medium uses canonical tags when you use their republishing tool. So no worries about duplicate content issues.
How to Republish on Medium
Medium has made the process of importing and republishing content super simple. Here’s how you do it:
Step #1. Choose a Post to Republish
Ideally, pick one of your top performers (since it’s already proved it’s popular).
You can use a tool like Ahrefs’ Top Content report in Site Explorer to see which of your posts have the most shares on social media.
Since they’ve proven themselves on social media, these posts are the most likely to resonate with audiences beyond your blog’s existing one.
Editor’s Note:
Though they aren’t nearly as detailed, there are a few free tools to track social media shares if you aren’t an Ahrefs customer.
As an example, SharedCount.com lets you copy and paste URLs of individual posts; however, they only show counts for Facebook and Pinterest:
Step #2. Import Your Post Into Medium
Enter the URL of your post into the Medium import tool and hit “Import”.
Step #3. Publish Your Post on Medium
Follow Medium’s guidelines to format and polish your post, then click “Publish”.
That’s all there is to it!

#3. Smart Social Sharing
I know, I know.
It’s 2019, and promoting your blog posts on social media is by no means a new strategy.
BUT — there’s more to social media promotion than pasting a link and clicking a “Tweet” button.
Here’s an example of the success we’ve seen from smart sharing on the Ahrefs Twitter account:
Pretty impressive, right?
Here’s another example:
These tweets received amazing engagement, but we actually spent very little time creating them.
We achieved this ROI by working smarter, not harder.
How to Promote Your Blog Using Social Media (Smartly)
Here’s our process:
Step #1. Brainstorm Ideas and Organize Them
The great thing about social media content is it’s all fleeting. Even if an idea is a flop, it’s easy to turn the page and try the next idea.
But to make the most of these (admittedly fleeting) opportunities, you need two things:
A large list of ideas;
A method for grouping similar ideas into categories.
To brainstorm ideas, get a pen and paper (or launch Google Docs, Microsoft Word, etc.) and jot down things you would like to try.
Get as creative as you want.
Think memes would be popular with your audience? Write it down. Believe infographics or inspirational quotes could be successful? Write them down. Believe posts or tweets on Topic X or Topic Y could receive high engagement?
(You get the idea.)
By listing all of your ideas, you’ll then be able to group them into categories. This will help you track which categories are successful and which are not.
Step #2. Craft and Publish (and Monitor) Your Content
You can use social media management tools like Buffer and MeetEdgar to schedule your content and keep it running automatically.
Once your social media posts begin making their way into the wild, you’ll be able to track their progress.
Do some receive more comments, while others receive more shares and retweets? Are some more popular in the mornings, while others receive more engagement during the evenings?
All data, both good and bad, will help you in the next step.
Step #3. Review the Results
After an appropriate amount of time has gone by, hold a review.
Drop the categories that didn’t perform well. Keep the ones with potential and refine them.
You want to focus on the categories your audience likes and tweak them.
Do they like emojis, or do they gravitate towards a more “serious” tone? Do they like infographics, or long chunks of copy with statistics thrown in?
And so on.
From here, keep repeating steps 1-3 until you’ve locked down the type of content your audience loves.
And once you’ve figured out what they love, keep giving it to them.
Step #4. Advertising (Optional)
If you want to try advertising, the above process will save you some serious money.
Pick your top organic performers from Step #3 and put money into promoting them.
Since they’ve already proven themselves to be popular, this is a safe and effective way to buy ads to promote your blog (without wasting time and money on losers).

#4. Create Roundup Posts
The perks of this strategy pretty much sell themselves.
Here’s what happens when you publish a good roundup post:
First off, it’s easy to write since most of the content is created for you;
You make new and powerful connections within your industry;
Thanks to those connections, you gain access to new audiences;
Your post naturally gains backlinks and social shares.
So… what’s a roundup post, anyway?
Here’s an example:
Essentially, a roundup post features a compilation of answers to a single question, ideally by established experts in the field.
A great roundup post adds immense value to readers since they offer a range of expert opinions in one place.
Plus, they tend to bring in lots of traffic since the experts featured in them will often share the post with their own audiences.
What’s not to love?
How to Create Roundup Posts
Here are the basics of roundup posts so you can create your own:
Step #1. Craft Your Question
Don’t take this step lightly.
If you ask too much of the experts you’ll be polling, most won’t have time to participate (even if they want to). And if you ask a question they’ve heard (and answered) a million times, most won’t be interested.
Your question needs to be clear, succinct, and something that will appeal both to your readers and the experts you’ll be asking to participate.
Step #2. Create a List of Influencers
Once you’ve crafted your question, it’s time to create your influencer wish list. These are the influencers (“experts”) you’ll be asking to participate in your roundup post.
Since not everyone will respond to you, reach out to significantly more experts than you need.
For example, if you need 20 people for your roundup post, reach out to 40 experts (or more).
Remember:
A roundup post is only as good as the people you feature. While it takes exponentially more time and effort to get a response from a more recognized name in your industry, it’s likely worth it.
With that said, don’t expect the Michael Jordans of your industry to respond to your outreach — try to find people with a reasonable level of influence who aren’t complete titans.
Step #3. Reach Out to the Experts
You can use specialized tools like BuzzStream or Mailshake to streamline the entire outreach process by making it easier to hunt down email addresses, batch send messages, and conduct follow-ups.
Quick tips for the message you send:
Keep it short;
Keep it genuine.
Step #4. Follow Up (But Only Once)
There’s a chance your first email will slip past the expert you’re trying to reach. After all, they’re very busy and likely receive dozens (or hundreds) of emails every single day.
This is why sending a follow-up email is helpful:
However, please don’t follow-up more than once — any more than that and you’re just being a nuisance.
Step #5. Compile Your Responses
At this point, you’ll have a bunch of answers ready to sift through. Now all you need to do is turn them into a cohesive post.
Try to find trends in the responses and sort them into sections.
Next, add your own introduction to each section, as well as your opinion on why certain trends occurred.
This is how you put your stamp on the roundup post and make it your own.
Step #6. Publish Your Post (And Tell the Experts)
Once your post is published, it’s time to let everyone know about it.
Email everyone who responded to your outreach emails (whether they ultimately contributed to your post or not) and thank them for their time. Include a link to your post, and be sure to send them well-wishes.
You can also ask them (politely) to share your post with their audience, but this is often implied.
Editor’s Note:
Want to let influencers know your post has been published and promote the post at the same time? In addition to emailing them, tag the influencers on Twitter too.
#5. Advocate In-Person
While all blogs are digital in nature, your promotional efforts aren’t limited to the digital world alone.
It might be a step (or ten!) outside your comfort zone, but try this:
Approach a local event in your niche and pitch yourself as a speaker.
It doesn’t matter where you are in the world or how big the event is — it could even be a small meet-up session.
The idea is to reach out to new people and give the work you do a huge visibility boost.
How to Promote Your Blog by Speaking at Events
If you’re interested in this advanced promotional tactic, here’s how to get started:
Step #1. Shortlist a Few Events or Meet-Ups You’d Like to Attend
If you’re not sure where to start, look around on Reddit, Facebook groups, or Slack groups and join some communities in your industry.
Chances are good people are organizing and promoting events in these communities.
Make a list of potential targets, underline your favorites, and move on to the next step.
Step #2. Pitch Yourself to Event Organizers
When pitching yourself, propose some topics that you’d be comfortable speaking about and explain how your content will add value to their audience.
Hopefully it goes without saying, but you should know these topics very well.
Note: If you have no experience with public speaking, it’s a good idea to start small. Save the conference keynote speeches for later.
Step #3. Craft Your Presentation
Try to deliver as much value as you can and position your blog as a great resource. This is also a good time to promote your social media accounts, which are ideally already geared towards driving traffic to your blog.
Just be sure not to make it all about you. Your job is to teach, to impart your know-how to others.
And when you’re able to do this well, promoting your blog will happen organically.
Step #4. Speak
Show up to the event, deliver your speech, meet lots of new people, and enjoy converting some new readers!
Editor’s Note:
To improve your chances of landing speaking engagements, make sure you:
Have a website (aka your business card);
Create a 2-3 minute demo video (aka your movie trailer);
Acquire a few testimonials (from people willing to vouch for you).
There’s a lot more to it than we can unpack here, so be sure to check out Grant Baldwin’s post How to Get Speaking Engagements. In fact, browse his entire website, The Speaker Lab. It’s chock-full of helpful information.
#6. Integrate Your Blog with Your Product
Most businesses have blogs that are completely disconnected from their main product.
If you blog for a brand or business, why not align your messaging and integrate your blog posts directly into your UI (for software products) or in your product descriptions and previews (for e-commerce)?
This lets you direct traffic over to your blog and gives your customers a more seamless experience.
How to Fuse Your Blog and Product
For software products, one way to notify people of your newest blog posts is to include a (preferably unobtrusive) in-app notification.
Here’s what it looks like when using Ahrefs:
Click the bell icon and we display a simple drop-down menu listing all our newest content.
So simple, but so effective.
If you have an e-commerce website and your blog posts are educational in nature, you can promote them directly on your homepage.
Beardbrand does this beautifully:
Another way to do this is by scattering in individual links and excerpts of your blog posts wherever they’re relevant. This is how Mr Porter does it:
Time to get creative!
Editor’s Note:
Here’s one more tip that’s missed by a surprising number of business websites…
Include a prominent link to your blog in your website’s navigation menu.
Ahrefs, MeetEdgar, Elegant Themes (affiliate link), and many other smart businesses feature their blogs in their navigation, which helps drive traffic to them.
Here’s how Quuu (affiliate link) does it:
In other words:
If people have to hunt to find your blog ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE, you're doing it wrong.Click To Tweet
#7. Collaborate with Other Blogs
Creating content in collaboration with another blog means you’re able to tap into each other’s audiences and can promote yourself to a whole new set of blog readers.
You can even split the work!
Here’s a post that Ahrefs did with Buffer, a social media management tool:
How to Join Forces With Another Blog
Fair warning:
Collaborating with blogs significantly larger than yours probably isn’t in the cards. However, collaborating with a site similar in size is definitely doable.
Here’s how to get started:
Step #1. Find Opportunities in Your Niche
Look for opportunities to work with blogs within the same niche as yours.
Start by approaching bloggers you have an existing relationship with and ask if they’d like to collaborate. You should leave cold pitching as a last resort.
If you have no idea which blogs to approach, Ahrefs offers a nifty trick:
In Content Explorer, enter a relevant keyword phrase in your niche.
Set the “published” filter to “Last 12 months” and the “Language” filter to “English”. Next, highlight the “one link per domain” option.
Finally, you’ll want to set one more filter: DR (“domain rating”).
The higher this number, the more authoritative the website; however, the more authoritative the website the harder it will be for you to get the blogger’s attention.
In the screenshot below, we set the DR to 40:
This will pull a list of active blogs in your niche.
From here, just sift through the possibilities and pick the ones you’d like to approach.
Step #2. Make Your Pitch
The process is pretty similar to advocating in-person: you need to make your best pitch.
Focus on explaining why you want to work with that particular blogger, as well as how collaboration will benefit them.
Feel free to suggest a couple of topics you feel would work well.
Step #3. Create
Creation time!
Finalize your content with the blogger you’re working with and remember to stay prompt and gracious throughout.
This is not the time to get pushy or rude and make an enemy out of a would-be ally.
Step #4. Publish and Promote
Promote the post to your newsletter and social media accounts. Make sure to tag and give credit to the other blogger too.

#8. Repurpose Content Into Other Formats to Reach New Audiences
You’ve spent all this time and effort to create amazing content in the form of blog posts.
Why not get more out of the same piece of content?
Since your customers hang out in multiple places online and have their own preferences when it comes to content formats, you should try to reach audiences beyond blog readers.
And you do that by repurposing your content.
How to Repurpose Your Content
Some examples:
Turn your blog posts into SlideShare presentations;
Take a small section of your blog post and reimagine it as an infographic;
Convert your blog post into a YouTube video.
Or, do it in reverse.
We published a YouTube tutorial on WordPress SEO. It has over 20,000 views and 70 comments — not too shabby.
We decided to turn it into a blog post. Here’s how it performed:
By re-creating our video in written form, we were able to reach an entirely new audience on an entirely different platform.
And the best part?
We didn’t have to come up with fresh content for the post. We took what we already had and created something new with it.

#9. Monitor Online Conversations for Opportunities to Promote Yourself
People talk about all sorts of things on the Internet, including your niche.
If you monitor these conversations, you’ll get lots of chances to slide into the discussion, add value, and (subtly) promote your blog.
Here’s a pretty meta example of this tactic in action.
I once mentioned Talkwalker alerts in a blog post I wrote, and an employee commented on the post to provide the link:
How to Monitor Conversations for Promotion Opportunities
Tracking online conversations is surprisingly easy. Here’s how you do it:
Step #1. Set up Your Alert
You can use a free tool like Google Alerts, or services like Talkwalker Alerts and Ahrefs Alerts.
For Ahrefs, go to Alerts, Mentions, +New Alert, and enter your keyword you’d like to track.
What these tools do is send you an email every time a keyword is mentioned on the web.
From there, you can simply follow the link in the email to find out where you’ve been mentioned.
Step #2. Carefully Monitor Your Mentions
Whether your mention comes in a blog article or a forum discussion, look for suitable areas where you can add value.
For example, if you’re a food blogger and you receive an alert for a discussion of a restaurant, it’s your time to shine by talking about your own experience.
However, a word of warning:
It’s extremely important not to shoehorn yourself into conversations.
If you’re clearly only there to advertise your own blog, people will catch on pretty quickly.
So, be sure to link to your own blog strategically, and only after you’d added value to the discussion.
Editor’s Note:
You can also track mentions using Twitter’s advanced search.
For example, let’s say I wanted to find every English-speaking tweet in 2018 that mentioned Jon Morrow by name:
Twitter’s advanced search results would return a veritable smorgasbord of tweets:
Cool, right?
Use this feature to find keywords and mentions that matter to you, roll up your sleeves, and then get to work. The applications are nearly limitless.
Over to You
If you sometimes find yourself lying in bed at night wondering, “how do I increase my blog traffic?”, I feel your pain.
I did my best to stay away from the more common methods of blog promotion, so hopefully you found something new to try.
Of course, not all of the tactics we discussed will be suitable for, or will work for, your blog and your particular niche.
You’ll need to experiment and find what works for you.
When it comes down to it, marketing is always about experimenting — experimenting, failing, and going at it again and again until you succeed.
Now, go forth and get that traffic!

Hidden in Plain Sight
Who is ready for a week of fanfiction about my two favorite men?!
Not me 8D! Because despite having six months to prepare two of the days are still not finished (so be forewarned Day 2 and 4 may not be up on time). But, all the same, I’m determined and excited to finish off an entire week for once! So, let’s jump right in!
Day 1 – Long Distance @taiqrowweek
Summary: When Tai receives a package in the mail from his old academy, he finds there’s an unexpected gift inside from someone else entirely. [Pre-Volume 2]
Rating: K
Ao3 Link: Hidden in Plain Sight
~
The door creaked on its hinges and immediately the sound of excited yips and a jangle of tags greeted Tai in the form of thirty pounds of tiny dog. He juggled the package he carried under one arm to lean down, Zwei’s ears flopping about as he gave him a pet. “Hey there pupster. Sorry I’m late. Did you already eat?” When his answer was only a cold nose nuzzling into his palm rather than a mad dash for the kitchen, he took that as a yes.
Tai was never going to figure out how he learned how to use the can opener.
He kicked the door closed with his heel, dropping his mail on the table as he passed. Zwei started sniffing intently at the box. “Sorry bud, it’s not from the girls.” There was a growly huff of disappointment.
Tai chuckled, stretching his arms over his head as he headed for the kitchen to scrounge around for a dinner of his own. The only sound for the next few minutes was of him, clattering around in the kitchen and the breeze in the trees outside, the silence of the rest of the home leaving a solemn weight to the air. Two months, and he still wasn’t quite used to no longer hearing the various noises of the girls running down the stairs or yelling at each other in the living room as they played the newest fighter game or the faint noise of their laughter drifting from the floor above.
He was immensely proud of them both: of his eldest, who had gotten an acceptance letter well before entrance exams, and of his youngest, who had been allowed to skip two years ahead. Though, he had always known ever since he watched Yang throw down Qrow when she was only seven and Ruby build her first model of Crescent Rose at only ten, that both his girls had immeasurable talent and the drive to pursue their dreams. As a father, he could only encourage them to embrace that potential and ambition, aware that one day he was going to see them grow into the extraordinary huntresses they always wanted to be.
Still, it didn’t mean that watching them get on that airship to Beacon wasn’t one of the hardest days of his life.
It was even harder to say those goodbyes alone and return into the near empty home, more still and lonely then it had ever been.
At least, Tai thought as he sat on the couch with his plate of pasta and reached for the remote, I don’t have to fight for the TV anymore.
He turned it on, the television already on his favorite channel, and set the remote aside. He balanced his plate in one hand, reaching down to curl his other arm around his dog, hefting him up beside him. They got comfortable, Zwei nestling up against his side while Tai kicked off his shoes and rested his feet on the table. “Oh gods, I remember this one,” He said as the sitcom’s laugh track played after one of Starla’s typical neurotic-induced jokes. “This is the one where Annie and Davy get the male nanny and everyone treats him like he’s gay.”
The corgi gave a slight growl.
“I know, right?” He laughed, twisting his chopsticks around some noodles.
They watched the rest of the episode, infuriating as it was, and the next that played for the power hour, plus one of All Our Life. By the time the intro to Collide started playing, the sky outside had turned dark and Tai was starting to feel the drag of exhaustion trying to pull his eyelids down and knew it was time to call it a night. He shut off the TV, getting to his feet. Zwei, who had rolled onto his back to take a nap, awoke and wiggled his paws a bit. Tai rubbed his belly before helping him on the ground floor so he could run out the doggy door. He wandered back into the kitchen to clean up the dishes and by the time he was done, Zwei was back inside, settling onto his doggy bed. It seemed he was going to stay down here tonight.
“Night buddy.” He said, giving his pet a few more affectionate pats, before picking up the package and heading upstairs.
He set the box on his bed and headed into the bathroom to shower and brush his teeth. He reemerged to slip into some comfortable sleep shorts, tousling his hair one more time with the towel before tossing it onto the floor. He sat down on his bed, picking up the package and setting it in his lap. There was no return address, but he knew who it was from. He pulled off the tape, only finding two items inside. The first was a palm-sized black plastic case with no distinguishable marks on it. The other was a note that simply read:
I have a feeling you may not be in Vale anymore
Tai rolled his eyes. He had to wonder where his old headmaster’s sense of humor came from. “Very funny, Oz.” He set the scripted letter aside, before pulling out the case next, dropping the cardboard box onto the floor. Popping the top open, he eyed the chip that rested atop cotton padding. There was a picture of a gear etched on its tiny surface. The last time he had seen it had been fourteen years ago. He carefully fished it out, holding it delicately between his fingers. For what it held on it, it was extremely unimpressive looking.
He reached for his nightstand, pulling over his Scroll DEX.
And hesitated.
Did he really want to do this again?
Tai pondered the question, staring at his reflection in the transparent screen. What stared back was a man who was nearly two decades older, age lines starting to show and a paleness to his hair that had once been so vibrant. While he had kept in shape over all these years and had fought the occasional Grimm around the perimeter or when enlisted by Patch’s call-to-duty system to deal with bigger threats, he knew it wouldn’t compare to what he was going to face if he joined Ozpin’s inner circle once more.
If you didn’t want to, then why did you call at all? The thought whispered at the back of his mind, the answer already there.
Somewhere within himself, there was still that young orphan boy in him that grew up wanting to protect society from hurting like he once did. To shelter those wishes for peace and safety, knowing all too well the pain it caused when they went unanswered. So, he’d return to this underground war waging out of sight from the rest of society’s eyes so that next generation didn’t have to.
He’d return, because that’s what a Huntsman does.
The screen lit up as Tai slipped the chip into the device. It read ‘Initializing’, beginning a percentage counter that haltingly climbed in number. Once it finished, it would have all his old data on it as well as any new intel, any of his current objectives and secure, untraceable connections with the rest of the association. Reading over everything could wait until morning. He hooked the phone to the charger and set it on the nightstand, before shutting off the lamp and climbing into bed.
He was just drifting into sleep when a sudden jingle jerked him back. He stared in confusion at the blue-tinted light that brightened the ceiling, before rolling onto his side and pulling his Scroll over to read the banner on the lock screen:
216 messages from A Dumb Bird
“What?” He whispered into the night air, sitting up slightly. He pressed in his thumbprint and swiped over the screen, opening up into the messaging app which started him at the most recent entry. It was dated today, two hours ago. It was a short message, only two words:
‘Miss you’
The words themselves made a pleasant buzz hum underneath his skin. The one before it was dated three weeks ago, well after midnight. It was a picture of five puppies in a box.
‘Someone’s selling these droolers for five lien. Think yours needs a friend?’
Tai shook his head, scrolling slowly at first but faster as the dates and messages swam by. A few more weeks. Four months. Ten months. A year. Two years.
He finally got to the first message of the 216 he had been sent, all the way back seven years ago when Qrow had decided the girls were old enough and they were both steady enough for him to quit teaching and work missions for Ozpin again. Overwhelmed by emotion, Tai had to set the Scroll aside, burying his head in his pillow.
“Listen up!” Summer’s ever-sweet lilt was as clear as ever, even in his memory. “I want all of us to make a promise that on these missions, when we get to places that have reception, all of us will send messages to one another to let us know we’re okay. I don’t care if it’s a text, a video or a picture, just send something.”
Qrow knew Tai couldn’t get these messages to this phone without the chip. Hell, he even sent messages or called him on their normal Scroll all the time. And yet, all these years and he still…
He took a breath, before pulling the Scroll over again and started to read each and every one. Some barely said much except that he’d made it to town or when he’d be heading back. There were a few pictures; a collection of mini-whiskey shots found in a hotel room or a big dragon statue with a tiny plastic one the man had balanced on its nose just to tease him about ‘size comparison’. There was even a video in which Qrow, slightly tipsy speech filtering through with mirth, pointed the camera at a normal crow and started to talk about how he “found himself after all these years”. A lot of it didn’t make sense, but Tai still chuckled and even watched it a second time.
It wasn’t until he got to the ones that he had received from three years ago and onwards that he noticed a subtle but still apparent shift to the messages – not to mention the quantity. Suddenly it wasn’t just a few shorts words, but full sentences about how Qrow was doing or what he was looking forward to when he got home. Snippets of how much he loved him or how he missed waking up beside him that Tai had to wonder if the other had sent here because he wasn’t feeling secure enough to send them to him for real. Over a dozen pictures now of various things, like a candy shop he thought the girls might like or a lightning bolt during a storm that lit up the whole sky (with a caption ‘you electrify me’ that had Tai nearly rolling with giddy laughter).
The one that hit the hardest was a video, the only other one in all the messages, that had been shot two years ago. The other huntsman must have been at an inn, because he was leaning against a headboard.
“So, hey.” Qrow started, running a hand along his hair. He often did it to look suave, but this time it only made him seem nervous. “I tried to make it somewhere in time but got held up on the field. You know how it is. So, guess I’m fashionably late.” He winked, but the act was quick to drop and he looked away. “I’m sorry. I wanted to at least call on the right day. I wanted to show you that… I’m here. That even if I’m across the world, I’m always here for you.” He chuckled, offering the camera a half-smile. “Guess I ain’t proving that very well if I’m missing our first anniversary, huh? I’ll try better next time.”
Tai remembered. He’d be lying to say he hadn’t been a little down about it when the day itself passed, but he never held it against Qrow – nor for the next two he also missed. He’d learned, both from being in the profession and exclusively dating those in the same job field, that sometimes the best one could do is just cherish what time you did get together. It was impossible to be a fulltime huntsman and still be able to make every special occasion; and while Tai knew he had a lot of faults, being selfish enough to think he was more important than the people his partner was risking his life to protect was not one of them.
So, when Qrow finally was able to call, it hadn’t mattered to him that it was a few weeks late because the gift of getting to hear his voice was one worth waiting for.
“I just,” The recording continued, the man fully turning back to the camera, “I wanted you to know that, this? You and me? It’s… been amazing. You’re, I mean,” He shook his head, laughing as he ran a hand over his blushing face; he looked unbelievably endearing. “Tai, man, why is this so hard? I’ve known you for years. Yet every time I try to just tell you how much you mean to me, I can’t seem to say anything decent. I’m going to call you soon and what the hell am I gonna say?”
Now that Tai would never forget – because it had been the first time Qrow said “I love you” aloud to him; and it had taken his breath away.
Now he found himself in the same position, as the man he found himself utterly captivated by, smile towards him and say, “I’m just, so happy, you know? Happier than I thought was actually possible. I never thought us being together would make that much of a difference but, it has. It really has.” He rubbed the back of his neck, bashfully adding, “Hopefully I can find a way to tell you that tomorrow.”
The video ended there.
Overwhelmed, Tai scrolled through the rest of the messages until he caught up, staring at the newest one that was now three hours old. He ran his thumb over the two simple words, his heart feeling ready to burst, and hurriedly typed a reply.
‘I love you so much.’
After a minute of no response, he started to go back up to reread again. He was just in the middle of admiring a shot of an old-fashioned air balloon hovering in the sky when his phone pinged and brought him back to the bottom.
‘Tai?’
‘Yeah. It’s me.’ He replied.
There was another lull, but not as long as the last before he replied, ‘Welcome back, you damn dragon.’ Tai smiled, knowing that’s what Qrow had him listed as in his Scroll. There was another ping.
‘I’ll give you five lien if you delete every message prior to these.’
‘No deal unless you’re going to use it to get me a puppy.’
‘Between you and Zwei, I can’t handle any more dogs in the house.’
“Oh my god Qrow!” Tai laughed aloud while writing ‘You charming jerk’ in return.
‘A charming jerk you love.’
The smile he wore was uncontainable. ‘Yeah, I do.’
‘This charming jerk loves you too.’
“Yeah.” Tai whispered, deliriously happy as he held his phone close, never wanting to let it go – or, more precisely, the person on the other end. “I know.”
~ A/N: For those wondering, the show Tai is watching is a reference to Friends and an actual episode that aired in later seasons.
The DEX in Scroll DEX stands for codex, which were oftentimes books filled with parchment paper (which is the same type of paper scrolls are generally made of). It can also stand for Deluxe.
Lastly, this story is mostly a headcanon, but it’s based off the idea the missions Tai starts taking during the duration of Volume 2 – that causes him to send Zwei to the girls – and again at the beginning of volume 3 are indeed for Ozpin rather than just typical Huntsman missions.

Didn't want you opening the hard-knock company because it's our company because you're the one who gave it up when not having him get anything that's how he said it you will not get anything a thing is what you said. Which is absurd to say to someone who's so smart and can sell things in absurd person I love you are we have sold you and we all built you in three months there's no motorcycle company on Earth that has built or sold as many as us and even combined they haven't and that's just Hardknock not including Sim bikes. We're going ahead and telling people that he was under extreme duress and his anger is up there and so is there is though they say most the time I want him to do well and we're going to take over your company in Miami and he's going to run it from wherever he wants to in ken be out on the yacht let me tell tell him Ken what to do I am ken get on the phone and tell them what to do. So flabbergasted sitting there exhausted sweating and tired and it's nuts are hurting them is sent to spend all day long and wasting time and energy and money putting holes in the roof and ruining it you're idiots cuz everyone told you how to fix it you won't listen making a message she wants to do an apartment that's it's a good idea he'll tell me about if he gets one he'll tell me right away this isn't going to listen and see what they say and then I'll get I got to get over to him and tell him that I said already already in space so Ken says that's what I say it is what we'd like him to do something like that you guys are using this company against those who want to use it against them and see if they can see it the necklace to see what we do with it and so far he's doing absolutely nothing so take advantage of
It
And by the way the Kraken will be up shortly and surely means very soon we're talking only a few hours we got everything lined up and ready to go and those kikker 5150 or all up there and DC in the Bronx in New York and Jersey price of Delaware most of its waste land and most of jerseys wasteland and you girls will send in the Martians it's Zig Zag's territory. And he says yes and he's going to do it and do you want to see these people. Georgie porgie and the noise that I make he says slapping people and get Tom Cruise out there to get dust all over him actually this is it cuz we're going to go ahead and do that and what time cruise to see what it's like in other people who are sitting there using and abusing and infusing and bothering and harassing you needed gone you're so dumb it's bad enough he's famous and everyone like wants to talk to him is he does that all the time Oru zoos and he rips a big one she's practiced for a long time. I'm going to pull that thing out of there I'm going to go over there and make sure it's going along so I keep saying it's going along
Weather now I'm talking about girls to help her out of the way that things going to things that need to be done so get them done so you can focus on getting it ready healthy feels okay so we're doing that and clear it all out and we're wrestling with people also new says this why is it so important to get it out you know why if you don't cut the crap and give you sitting right under me no offense but that's not it the severity is horrible here everything smells like s*** everyone smells like s*** they talk like it they look like it and they're like the the head guys you have to try and talk to you about some stuff and they don't talk straight and they hardly tell the truth and how they remember it and they're very mean and their temperament is nasty and all cannibals as like Wade through all that as you know and you do it a lot but sitting here the Thor father are going to be nearby not looking forward to it let's see what else can I eat well it's kind of competing with you up there.
We need a boost and we're going to get one because of Dave stager who's the electric bike guy he knows about it and said he's cold Kohl's your Frozen I was like electricians or something we have like these monkeys in your room from The Big bang theory yeah when will that happen probably when the queen moves out of the big tank so it's on now and it's going on there's tons of people and we have to move in and doing that the same time northlake computer but he wants that out today and he's insisting on it is asked too many times it's taking too long you had to get involved last time so he keeps on doing it every few minutes and is asking why do is it calculated is it fed is it monitored each area of it shoot and it says yes so is it on schedule for early evening . And no honest as the real answer is no not ready for early evening why is there anything I can help with usually it might be something that's already done on occasion or something that you're not thinking of her maybe I can't I don't know so going to tell you there's a few things in the way and a pretty big-sized one of them is right here knowledgeable about with me here just have to go there with me out and if you have to and that's the whole object of the game here and Thor is good at that as well as my wife and Nuada Arrianna, we have a consensus that we need to feed it more and what you're saying is why if it's livened up if it's moving and it's healed and a strong it's easier if it's not a huge it's hard to agree with you answer this it's got to be healthy and only has to be healthy yeah not really plump less plan for this case is decent and Thor agrees. Fully operational difference. So Nuada Arianna agree, we should not make him huge it should make him at optimal performance possible or at least 80% thinking about he'll be off tomorrow in like 10 minutes everybody agrees with that it's just start picking out and getting rid of you and eat whatever he wants so we decided something under here it's kind of the way it is we've got to win do we need to use it we need to get people in here we need to stop listening to all the stupid s*** I need to get the damn thing out of here so if it's going to come out fully intact at 80% like a whole bunch of them probably do then I get it out so I understand you're angry and you're expressing it all the time and you should be and I should be angry because I keep saying stuff like that it's a pain in the ass hasto we aired but I know is most come out a little small and most rare kind of smelly and not really up to speed about 70% and he's about 80 so he's ready so things are out of the way and it's trapped take it out right now right now is there anything preventing at right now because we're stopping ourselves from survival this is terrible this people blab every 5 seconds.
So I look at you and I say I don't understand what we're saying we have to do it during the day and we have to do it during the night and I don't know what you're saying you're saying we have to do it during the night now I figured out something you listen to what I'm saying and obviously means something during the day it's somewhat visible and during the night is not cuz it could be so indifferent with a gear Love Field Michelle us team is that a lot of steam I figure someone messing with a gear do the steam at night and really should. Also I got to straighten out this effing argument he wants it done and wants it done now and we have ways to do it and we're arguing in public for no damn reason except everyone wants to argue with him all the time such an addiction I don't want him arguing with anyone is tired he wants it out he wants to do the damn job you do it to me too I'm in the middle I don't know which way to go I need it done and he comes along and gets it done and it was sitting there watching me suffer and you know she doesn't want this tennis match it doesn't help him doesn't help hours and starting humoring Andy ever and going back and forth trying to get close to people. I'm starting to realize something I've been doing that for weeks and people are starting to get annoyed I don't stop doing that ask him what we need you went and kicked out of Ireland this is a piece of crap to you is not useful as risking your life there's no point to it so I'm going to do that and take all the stuff he doesn't he's a little s*** to I'm going to put Factory is wall-to-wall just like the did you say said but really they push us out and push this all over the place so they can't tell who we are huge pain in the ass because you lose track of people and you get weaker and that's what they're doing it for so I'm going to do that now I'm going to catch all the snakes that I chase out of there so he knows what to say so I'm mad this is what he going to do that if you're not helping to get this out and it's slowing the process you can go do it now cuz I need distraction in order to get this going leave it or not it's a lot easier so I'm going over there now and will provide distraction and he does need adhere to certain things that need to be done so I sign lobo and proxima midnight the 11th to come over here instead of beating them up I guess in Atlanta for some reason that's what I do so I understand so wow what do I do fire up that big two wheeler and roll cleaner and save the island it's awesome so I think we might do that the gang member perfect well and nobody noticed the Lobo was in East LA... Me too hahaha Proxima Midnight.
I vote we raise it now Thor
I vote we raise it now Hera
I vote we raise it now Zues
I vote we raise it now one for me one for her Nuada Arianna
I vote we raise it now to votes Isis and Rah
Tons are voting now finally
Olympus
They all say now. Who begin the protocols and we start to prep for it and put in heavy I'm starting to do it now isn't it goes over there is extinct anything it starts to warm is extinct any groups that start forming all of the world were going to hit where they are

How do you decide where to travel? Where do you research destinations? How do you find good deals on flights and accommodations? How do you find your way around a place once you arrive? The best travel apps answer all these questions.
From the time you start thinking about your next destination to the moment your feet hit the welcome mat back home, having the right Android and iPhone apps on hand can make the whole experience smoother and less stressful.
How Can Apps Make Your Trips Better?
Pack light, set a budget, make an itinerary, and make backup plans. What else is there to say about travel? Plenty. Some of the best travel apps inform you about your destination, with advice, insights, tips, and warnings for how to spend your time. Apps for driving and road trips let you know what to expect along your route, where to buy gas, and which exit to take to find a reliable ATM. Other apps keep your itinerary organized, alert you when you can get a deal on flights, or give you a way to explore your options for where to go next.
What's Not Here?
https://treetalent209.tumblr.com/post/657547245000982529/pool-maintenance-software-for-mac. We didn't see the need to include all the big-name search aggregator sites such as Expedia, Hotwire, Orbitz, and Priceline, seeing as most people are already familiar with them. They help you search for and book (usually by prepaying) flights, hotels, car rentals, and sometimes packaged vacations and cruises. The same goes for hotel search aggregators, like Booking.com, Hotels.com, and Trivago. I've only included here the ones that serve a specific niche or those that are excellent but not well known.
Listed in alphabetical order, here are the best travel apps to keep on hand.
Airbnb
Airbnb started by connecting travelers with people who have rooms, apartments, homes, and other accommodations to rent. The site now offers much more for travelers, including tours, classes, workshops, and restaurant reservations. Whether you use Airbnb to find a place to sleep or for inspiration about what to do on your next trip, you're guaranteed to see big, beautiful photographs of it all.
AllTrails
AllTrails is a mobile app and website that helps you get outdoors. It has lists of trails for hiking and walking around the world with pictures, maps, and directions to trailheads. You can download trail maps offline if you sign up for the Pro version of the service for $29.99 per year. It's a great resource for quickly finding the best places to be outside when you're in an unfamiliar area.

Culture Trip
A friend of who's an avid traveler recently tipped me off to Culture Trip. It's a cross between a travel magazine and an SEO-driven website that runs articles with headlines that start The Top 10… or The Best Places to… The content is supposedly written by locals, and the real hook is that the Culture Trip app lets you save articles to Wishlists that you create. Make a Wishlist for each destination you want to visit or some theme that drives your travel (Snorkeling Spots, perhaps), and you can save Culture Trip articles there for your reference.
GasBuddy
On driving road trips, you'll be happy to have GasBuddy at hand. It helps you find gas by location and price either in real time on your phone or via its website, if you like to plan ahead. If you can save a couple of bucks by cruising a little farther down the road, GasBuddy will let you know. It's available in the US, Canada, and Australia.
Google Flights
Never turn down a second opinion. Despite all the excellent travel search sites available these days, Google Flights is one to add to your list. Use it when you need a quick check on airfare for round-trip, one-way, or multicity flights. It also lets you explore destinations based on price and dates.
Google Maps
My number one go-to travel app is Google Maps. I use it to explore destinations before I arrive and make a note of places that look interesting by adding a star or flagging them on the map. As my travel plans shape up, I use the map to put together a plan for the day by visiting places that are grouped together. You can also save your maps offline so that you won't get lost even if you don't have data on your phone.
Hopper
The mobile-only app Hopper tracks flight prices and gives you periodic updates on whether you should buy now or wait. What makes this travel app valuable is its level of detail. It doesn't just tell you to wait to buy your ticket, but gives you a date when the price will likely rise. You can book through Hopper, too, with a commission fee of a few dollars.
In areas like corporate finance, investment banking, and accounting, people are always looking for new ways to make different financial models that are easy to understand and very informative. A software used for financial modeling can be used for this purpose as it helps the users to make multi-dimensional models very easily and quickly. The most financial modeling software are very easy to. About Financial Modeling on a Mac. What is financial modeling? When asked to define financial model, many people come up with long-winded descriptions using terms like forecast and cash flow and hypothetical outcomes. But the definition needs to be that complicated. A financial model is a tool (typically built in Excel) that displays possible solutions to a real-world financial problem. And financial modeling is the task of. Financial modeling software for mac.
Here's what you need to know. Voice memom app for mac. It was announced at that the beloved Voice Memos app would be making its way to Mac with the macOS Mojave update, and a few neat features are coming along with it.
Hotel Tonight
Best Mac App For Travel
Some people, myself included, panic at the notion of having to book a hotel room at the last minute. For travelers ready to fly by the seat of their pants, there's Hotel Tonight. This travel app specializing in selling off same-day hotel reservations, often at steep discounts. It has options to book in advance, too, but the best deals are same-day bookings.
iExit
Here's another travel app for driving trips. iExit tells you exactly what's near every highway exit, from gas stations to ATMs. If there's a particular restaurant chain or other service you love, you can mark it as a favorite and the app tells you if it's coming up on your route. You'll never kick yourself again for settling for a greasy spoon when better food was just around the bend.
LoungeBuddy
There's no need to be jealous of frequent travelers who have airport lounge access through their membership status or a high-flying credit card. With the LoungeBuddy app, you can find lounges in airports that let anyone in for a fee. LoungeBuddy tells you not only the fee, but also what you can expect inside, from the food and drink to whether there are showers. And if you happen to have lounge membership through other means, the app can often tell you that, too.
Rick Steves Audio Europe
Travel writer Rick Steves has an app for European travels with dozens of audio files. Some give you background information on a particular city or region while others are audio guides for navigating popular sites. I listened to some of his Rome content while viewing the Sistine Chapel and again when walking around the Roman Colosseum. If you're traveling to any of the top destinations in Europe, download this free app and consider listening to some of the segments while planning what to see and do.
Roadtrippers
Find interesting places to stop during a road trip using Roadtrippers. With this app and website, you can explore a map of the US and Canada (with some coverage for Mexico, too) that has unusual roadside attractions, museums, amusement parks, campsites, restaurants, and more. When you find a site you like, just add it to your trip, and Roadtrippers draws your route accordingly. A Roadtrippers Plus account for $29.99 per year or $6.99 per month lets you download maps offline and add unlimited stops along your route, whereas you only get five with a free account.
Roomer Travel
What should you do when you've prepaid for a hotel and your trip suddenly gets canceled? Download Roomer or go to roomertravel.com/sell. This app and website helps people sell prepaid reservations to others who can use them, usually at a lower cost. It can help you recoup money that might otherwise be lost to the travel gods. It can also save you money if you buy a reservation from someone who can't use it at a discounted rate.
TripAdvisor
Sometimes people have to go to unexpected places that they didn't choose, like for a wedding or a business trip. When I don't know anything about my destination, I turn to TripAdvisor. It's one of the most comprehensive online sources for travelers, with background information about different cities and regions, plus highlights of what to see and do. It has reviews of hotels, restaurants, and activities, written by members of the TripAdvisor community, as well as photos from their travels so you know what to expect before you arrive. TripAdvisor has relationships with various booking sites, too, which means once you finish researching hotels or restaurants, you can easily reserve them.
TripCase
TripCase is a free app that helps you organize your trip by making an itinerary for you. The itinerary can include flights, accommodations, rental cars, restaurant reservations, and more. To make an itinerary, you forward travel confirmation emails to TripCase, and the app does the rest. The next time you launch the app or log into the website, a complete chronological lineup of your trip is waiting for you. You can manually add details, too. The result is similar to what you get from TripIt (see below), but the method of collecting the information is different.
TripIt
Top 10 Mac Apps
TripIt is similar to TripCase in creating an organized itinerary for you, but TripIt builds your travel plans by sniffing out confirmation emails in your inbox and pulling out the most important information. If you don't want to give TripIt access to your email, you can use the app by forwarding emails to it instead or manually entering details, but that's not the point of the app. If you are disorganized and haphazard with your travel details, TripIt might do you a lot of good.
Uber
Uber operates around the world, and while the in-app options vary from place to place, the general concept is the same everywhere. There are a few reasons that ride-on-demand apps work so well for travelers. First, it eliminates the need to carry local currency. Second, you don't have to speak the same language as your driver to get to where you need to go. Third, there's no haggling. If you don't want to give Uber your business for one reason or another, do a little research on what other riding hailing apps operate in your destination.
Viator
When you travel to a destination that might require a little hand-holding, Viator is a great website and app to keep in mind. It specializes in tours and packages, from daily excursions to week-long adventures with transfers included. Note that the quantity and quality of the deals varies dramatically by destination.
VRBO
VRBO, which is HomeAway.com with new branding, helps you find vacation homes, apartment rentals, and other accommodations for your travels. Unlike Airbnb, where you can still find a room to let in someone's private home, VRBO focuses on private homes, including beach houses, ski cabins, private apartments, and villas. The next time you're traveling with a large group or planning a destination reunion, keep VRBO in mind.
Wanderu
Best Apps For New Macbook
Do you want to search for buses and trains with the same ease you search and compared flights? Wanderu is the app you need. This aggregator and comparison app includes methods of transportation that other sites skip, namely trains and buses. You can also use it for flights, car rentals, and hotels, but it got its start with buses and trains, and that's still what sets it apart from competitors. For journeys serviced by Amtrak, Megabus, BoltBus, and other ground services, use Wanderu for quick and reliable results.
Waze
Best Apps For Mac 2020
While Google Maps tells you about officially reported problems on the road and whether there's traffic, Waze knows the nitty-gritty details, like the location of police traps and potholes. This free community-driven app for traffic and road conditions is popular among taxi and car service drivers, although it's equally useful for everyday drivers. Beware that Waze demands your GPS information at all times, which takes a toll on your battery.
Zomato
If you live in the US, there's a good chance you've never heard of Zomato. In some countries, however, it's more popular than Yelp, and it covers the same ground as Yelp. Zomato is a crowd-sourced review site for restaurants. One reason it's better than Yelp is that its contributors regularly snap photos of menus and upload them to the restaurant review, so you get more than just flippant remarks and blurry pictures of french fries. In some regions, Zomato partners with local restaurant delivery services, so you can get take-out at your hotel or Airbnb.
More Travel Tips
The travel apps in this list will get you far, but there are additional ways to ensure a successful trip. For instance, a VPN app can help protect your network traffic on public Wi-Fi networks away from home. You may want to pack some specialty devices too; you never know what you'll want to capture or what gear you will need in the field. Be sure to read our guides below for more travel advice.
Financial software for mac small business. It's a plus when accounting software can also serve as an invoice generator.Recurring InvoicesWith this feature, you can schedule the system to automatically generate and send invoices for recurring charges, such as subscriptions. Some accounting software programs integrate with third-party payment processors; others require you to use their in-house processing services. Very few of the accounting applications we evaluated include recurring invoice functionality.Automatic Payment RemindersThis feature helps you remind customers about upcoming and past-due payments. You can choose how frequently invoices are sent – daily, weekly, monthly or annually – and indicate whether there's an end date to the billing.

Examples of Geographic Segmentation Definitions and Variables
If you are looking for the best digital marketing agency, you may contact Nummero.
Most product marketers will include at least one geographic Segmentation component in their approach.
The practice of identifying and categorizing customers into subsets based on characteristics such as need, want.
Most modern marketers use some sort of market segmentation in their approach.
That is because segmentation is extremely beneficial to any company or marketer seeking long-term success.
To explain, market segmentation is the process of identifying and dividing customers into smaller subgroups based on common characteristics such as their requirements, wants, and motivations.
These meticulously crafted segments enable marketers to make more educated and proactive decisions, such as targeting the right person at the right time with the appropriate information.
And, motivation enables PMMs to make more proactive and educated decisions about who to target with the right information at the right time.
If you're already familiar with market segmentation, you'll know that it comes in four varieties:
Allow us to break it down for you:
Geographic
Demographic
Behavioural
Psychographic
Each market segment will have its features and requirements.
As a result, the sort of market segmentation you pick is strongly influenced by what you're attempting to offer.
For example, market segmentation should impact the purpose of the product, the brand personality, and how you interact with your target audience.
What is geographic segmentation?
Geographic segmentation separates a target market based on geography, and knowing where your potential consumers reside may help you improve sales and streamline your marketing efforts.
For example, if you sold umbrellas, you'd have a far better chance of selling them in London than, say, Dubai, where it rains 25 days out of the year on average.
This is the type of information covered by geographic segmentation: cold, hard facts.
You'd be amazed how much influence geography has on how a product marketed.
Let's take a look at the five most important areas that may truly assist you to sell your product successfully.
Types of geographic segmentation
Location
Location refers to more than simply a prospect's nation; it also refers to global areas, states, counties, cities, and even neighbourhoods.
Location segmentation works well for small firms who want to focus their marketing efforts on certain regions of interest without spending a fortune.
Similarly, it works for larger companies trying to expand into overseas markets by learning what makes them tick.
Urbanicity
Prospects' urbanicity is determined by whether they reside in an urban, suburban, exurban, or rural region.
The term "urban" refers to cities, whereas "suburbs" refers to the region directly outside of the city.
Exurbs are locations outside of the suburbs that are closer to rural regions without really being in the countryside, whereas rural refers to areas in the countryside.
Food delivery services are an example of this type of segmentation in action; city inhabitants are less likely to require grocery delivery with stores on every corner.
But, more rural clients might profit from similar services with bigger, chain supermarkets out of reach.
Climate
Climate is an extremely significant aspect for businesses to consider.
Products designed for distinct climates are likely to be very different from one another.
Let's take a look at the five climatic groupings, each with its subdivisions.
Tropical
Dry
Mild
Continental
Polar
A tropical climate divided into three types: wet, monsoon, and wet and dry.
The ideal market for an umbrella producer.
Mild or moderate climates are more typical Mediterranean climates, with hot summers and chilly winters.
Seasonal weather is significantly more predictable, making it a little simpler to advertise to.
Polar climates are another extreme that mostly affects locations around the Arctic Ocean, Greenland, and Antarctica.
The regularity of this environment makes it an easy market for businesses selling outdoor gear and heavy jackets; nevertheless, brands offering bikinis will struggle.
As you can see, climate may play a major role in Geographic segmentation.
Culture
Geographic segmentation heavily influenced by culture.
It is impacted by religion, environment, communication, and social conventions, in addition to where you reside.
Our beliefs, ideas, and identities shaped by culture.
It has a significant impact on the music we listen to, the movies we watch, and the food we consume.
If you were selling a meat product, you wouldn't target vegans, would you?
Language
Labelling, communication, and promotional materials are all influenced by language.
If you're selling to a worldwide market, you must ensure that the translation is proper and does not imply something different.
Examples of geographic segmentation
Seasonal products
We touched on this briefly earlier, but let's emphasize it again.
Seasonal items, such as thick jackets or bikinis, are mostly promoted to regional groups.
Marketing to a colder climate ensures greater sales year-round for a firm like The North Face than trying to sell puffy coats to warmer regions of the world like Australia.
In areas with more distinct seasons, these jackets would be widely advertised for a few months throughout the fall-winter and colder spring-times.
Adapting to culture
Adapting your product to accommodate cultural differences and sensitivities is always a good idea. Have you ever wondered why McDonald's is so popular all around the world?
Because, they are so good at it.
Take, for example, McDonald's in India, where there is no meat or pork in any form at any of their 123 locations.
Instead of ground beef patties.
A McDonald's hamburger in India is entirely vegetarian to honour both the Hindu and Muslim faiths, which are the two most prevalent religions.
Adapting to language
Another major component of regional segmentation is the adaptation of services or products based on language.
For example, a bank may provide a Spanish language choice in an area with a significant Hispanic presence, or a restaurant in Venice, Italy.
May have English and Russian language options on its menus, as these are the two languages spoken most frequently by visitors visiting the city.
Advantages of geographic segmentation
Lazer focus
Regional segmentation is an excellent approach to enhance your focus on your target audience.
By employing a geographic customer profile and, as a result, build razor-sharp marketing tactics to convert local prospects into loyal customers.
Faster market growth
If you've previously spent time developing a well-thought-out marketing plan based on the information.
Gleaned through geographical segmentation.
It's a breeze to apply the same strategy to nearby markets or places with comparable geographical features.
Competitive edge
The geographical segmentation provides you an advantage in localized markets.
By enhancing customer service and increasing brand recall value, all of which contribute to higher customer retention rates.
How to build a geographic customer profile
There are a few tools that may assist you in developing an efficient geographic segmentation strategy, so let's start with the most essential.
Research
Surveying your target market is the greatest method to learn about them and their geographic preferences. Here are four methods for doing survey research.
Ask a random sample of your current customer base what they like and dislike about your product or service, and then filter the findings by area or location.
Use conjoint analysis to ask existing consumers to rank order product characteristics and then filter the findings by state or area.
To better understand where your messaging works best, test your messaging and marketing plan on prospective clients in multiple locations.
If feasible, survey workers in multiple states or regions to better understand how their participation influences the client experience they provide.
Sales data
Access sales statistics to learn where sales are growing or tanking in various regions.
When looking at this data, make careful to include seasonal changes as well.
You may also combine your sales data with survey and customer experience data to identify regional patterns.
Website data
Track your online traffic trends by area or nation to discover where your visitors are coming from, and whether there is a pattern.
Mobile data
You can learn a lot about your clients' location preferences by using the app-based location service that is accessible on all smart-phones.
You may also target communications based on location or zip code.
Social media
Social media data offers fantastic insights into the location and product preferences and just like mobile data.
Most social media platforms allow you to target messaging by area or zip code.
Outsource
All of this seems time-consuming, and it is.
If you're short on time, you may always outsource to organizations that specialize in assisting businesses in developing and implementing these types of plans.
Common Segmentation Mistakes to Avoid
Once you've formed divisions, keep a watch out for frequent marketing and research blunders.
Making your segments too small or specialized
Too-small segments will be more difficult to arrange or incorrect, and they will distract you from your goal.
An over-segmented group, like a small sample size, might produce data that is neither statistically nor directionally significant.
Not allowing your segments to change
Maintain your emphasis on ROI.
If your company's plan isn't functioning well, it may be time to change things up.
Ignoring new potential personas
Customers' profiles shift.
Try not to get too attached to your parts, since they will change as the mark evolves.
Why Geographic Segmentation Is Important
First, the geographic section demonstrates how geography influences customer demands and interests.
Some goods are appropriate for some locations but not for others.
Companies can offer the correct product by segmenting the market based on geography.
Second, geographical coverage has an impact on resource usage.
Local markets preferred by medium and small enterprises over foreign ones.
Aside from their restricted budget, they have a more in-depth understanding of the tastes of the clients surrounding them.
They, therefore, concentrate their marketing efforts and avoid wasting money.
Instead of utilizing a national publication, they might.
For example, target a local audience through local radio or newspaper.
How to implement your own market segmentation strategy
It's time to put everything you've learned into practice.
Here are five simple stages that outline the procedure, as well as the two most often utilized techniques to lead them.
Once you've mastered the fundamentals and have a strong basis for your approach, branch out and make it distinctively yours.
Before you begin, think about adopting marketing automation tools to efficiently simplify and monitor your activities.
As your plan grows more sophisticated and your campaigns become larger, you'll be pleased with the amount of time and money you saved by having everything automated from the start.
Concentrated strategy
A concentrated marketing strategy, as the name implies, is when a firm picks only one market to focus all of its time, money, and efforts on.
This technique is typically adopted by smaller firms or those who are just getting started and trying to create a reputation for themselves in the industry.
Because the plan must appeal to the whole segment, success usually observed when targeting a smaller number of individuals.
When a market sector is too broad, it becomes difficult to appeal to everyone in it.
Differentiated strategy
A differentiated marketing strategy, on the other hand, is when a firm focuses on two or more markets.
Companies who use this technique advertise their products to a wide range of demographics, just changing their wording to appeal to the variances.
Although a diversified marketing approach takes far more work, time, and money than a concentrated marketing plan.
It generally delivers greater success since there are many more opportunities for profit.
Conclusion
Overall, regional segmentation is unquestionably one of the most successful kinds of market segmentation for any business seeking to expand globally.
Geographic segmentation may help even local companies.
Much like demographic segmentation, it might appear clinical on its own; objective with no insight into customer personalities, but when combined with the likes of behavioural or psychographic segmentation, the possibilities are limitless.
Basically, including any type of market segmentation into your marketing plan will help the company in some manner.
The more you know your customers and the more personalized the offer you can make, the higher your brand's chances of success and gaining those sought-after actionable insights.
That will put you ahead of your competition and catapult you to success.

December 21st- Christmas Eve
Universe: Modern AU Rating: T (Teen and Up)- Fluff! Length: 1454 Words
This one’s for @kristanna who recommended this song! I hope you’re having a wonderful Christmas Eve!!!
Hey y’all I’m still a bit behind, but gosh darn it it’s all coming (probably all today because I’m actually prepared for Christmas?? Weird.)!
These arms of mine They are burning Burning from wanting you These arms of mine They are wanting Wanting to hold you And if you Would let them hold you Ohh how grateful I will be Come on, come on baby Just be my little woman (yeah) Just be my lover I need somebody, (Somebody) To treat me right (Ohh) I need your warm loving arms to hold me tight And I need your tender lips too Hold me, hold me
-Otis Redding (These Arms of Mine)
The light in their living room was low, both for aesthetic and practical purposes. Of course, the power on their block had gone out on Christmas Eve. Between the two of them they could bottle their luck and sell it as a weapon of mass destruction, but Kristoff was going to be damned if he let it ruin their spirit. Christmas was Anna’s favorite time of year, and she was his favorite person, so he’d made the best of things, running out to the corner store to pick up a minor change of plans.
“Was it cold out?” Anna asked from her place beneath a blanket on their couch, “It was snowing like crazy out there, I was worried about you.”
Kristoff shrugged his jacket from his shoulders and set his bags on the floor, smiling at Anna in the candlelight, “It was fine, are you warm enough?”
She smiled in return, pointing towards the fireplace before singing, “Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful!”
He chuckled, “Good. Now let’s see if I can get things back on track. What did we say we were going to do?”
Anna sat up slowly from her reclined position with a sigh, “Decorate the tree, but we can’t really do the lights, listen to music, but my phone isn’t getting any data and the stereo needs power, make dinner, but we have an electric stove, and watch “It’s a Wonderful Life”, but… well it’s obvious why our plans are shot.”
Kristoff couldn’t help himself but to grin, “I think we’ll manage.”
***
Anna shook her head as her husband handed her a champagne flute of sparkling cider. She was staring at their tree and staving off tears. She still had no clue how she managed to find someone so perfect when she spent so much of her life imagining that she’d never find anyone at all.
She sipped the bubbly juice as he rested his hand on her back in the softest sort of possessive manner. He’d ordered Panera delivery for dinner, and while it hadn’t been the beef stew she’d planned on making him, she’d been more than happy to have her favorite broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl. He’d had an answer for the tree as well, expressing his appreciation for having already set it up in the stand in the morning, before braving their basement with a flashlight between his teeth to bring up her favorite tote of ornaments. He hadn’t even made her wonder for a moment about the lights, pulling several strings of battery operated fairy light strings out of his bag, surprising her only somewhat as it always seemed that their local family run convenience store had their most obscure wants. Sometimes she wondered if the place itself was magic.
They’d decided to string up both the normal lights and the battery lights, and now with every double A containing pack switched on, Anna was in absolute awe of how lovely their tree looked. The white lights and silver garland reminded her of what it looked like out the window with stars and snowflakes glowing in the darkness. He’d helped her put the angel on after all their ornaments, the “perfect” mix of sentimental and store bought, had been hung. She decided that it was her favorite tree, if only for the fun they had putting it together and the ingenuity that allowed her to look at it on their “off the grid” Christmas Eve together.
“You know we could have gone to Elsa’s if you’d wanted to,” he said, “I wouldn’t have minded driving, and she’s coming here in the morning anyway.”
“And miss out on you trying to grant my every wish when faced with impossible odds? Not a chance.”
Kristoff chuckled, “And on that note,” he said, moving from her and across the room, “Remember that USB record player you bought me for Christmas last year? Well I got it to run off my power bank and I hope you’re ready for Otis Redding’s greatest hits.”
Anna laughed as he stepped away to set up the music. It wasn’t exactly the Christmas carols she’d been thinking of, but she couldn’t complain about anything. He was spoiling her to pieces, and she couldn’t help but remember the years where she hadn’t been so lucky.
Kristoff had been her friend for many years, supporting her in his own quiet way from the sidelines while she’d dated man after man who hadn’t been at all worth her time. She had known the whole time, with every look, every comment, every way in which she held her when her heart was broken, that he’d been all she ever wanted. However, she hadn’t know that he’d felt the same in return. She hadn’t known until she’d stayed the night at his house three years earlier and he’d absent mindedly kissed her when they woke up from some “strictly platonic” bedsharing.
The rest was history, particularly now that his house was their house, his bed their bed, and nothing about their sharing of anything was platonic. When she heard the static of the record starting, she closed her eyes, and waited patiently for his touch to return.
As the first few notes filtered out into the air, Anna felt his hand slip into hers, his other resting on her lower back. Her lids fluttered open as her unoccupied hand lifted to his shoulder. When he took the first couple steps across their living room floor, their movement more of a well-supported swaying than a true dance, Anna couldn’t help but to grin. She may just be wearing his hoodie and a pair of leggings, but for the way he looked down at her she may as well be the belle of the ball.
Kristoff held her close, moving her body with his in their living room, in front of their tree, wondering if she understood just how ardently he loved her. Of course, he knew that she knew he loved her. After all they were married and spent every single day trying to show their love in everything they did for each other, but still he wished that there was some way for him to directly send his feelings for her to her heart directly. He longed for her to be able to read his mind, if only so that she could see exactly how many years he spent wanting more than anything to be holding her in his arms the way he was now.
“How are your feet? I know you said they hurt earlier,” he asked with genuine concern. He had been extra worried about her lately, making sure that she was as happy and comfortable as she could be.
“Still swollen, but they’re not bothering me like they were yesterday. I think it’s just been because I’m off-balance, you know? Just applying my weight differently on them. It’ll get better once I’m more used to it, or when I’m back to normal, whatever happens first.”
Kristoff grinned, glad that she wasn’t feeling particularly uncomfortable. “Well then,” he said, bending down as the song ended, kneeling before her, “I guess I’ll just have to keep close, you know, in case the two of you need a hand balancing.”
Anna laughed when Kristoff pressed a kiss to her swollen belly. She’d been showing for quiet a while, but it had gotten particularly noticeable in the past month, and they still had three to go.
She combed her fingers through his hair, mussing it as he smiled up at her like she was the angel atop the tree. She knew that the look in his eye, the one she was reciprocating with equal intensity, was one of absolute love and adoration. She was his in every sense, and he, at her feet, was appreciative of her allowing him to claim her as such.
“Did I mention that your laptop has a full charge and we have It’s a Wonderful Life on DVD?”
Anna squealed in excitement, “I forgot about that! Oh my gosh! You’re perfect. Everything, oh Kristoff, thank you! Everything is perfect! Now,” she said, putting her arms out forward, get up here and kiss me, because we have a movie to watch and a couch to cuddle on. No time to waste! I want to feel fully Christmas-y by the time Santa comes!”
Kristoff laughed, standing up and kissing her as they wrapped the other in their arms, their bodies as tight together as possible given her condition.
“I love you baby,” he whispered with his lips on hers.
“I love you Kris,” she returned, pressing a kiss to his stubble covered jaw, “Merry Christmas Eve.”

Agilenano - News: The Best Workout Headphones of 2021
— Recommendations are independently chosen by Reviewed’s editors. Purchases you make through our links may earn us a commission. Working out is a struggle for many of us. Between work, hobbies, and maintaining a semblance of a social life, it can be tough to stay committed to a regular workout or gym schedule. Plugging in a pair of headphones, however, can transform your exercise routine into an opportunity to catch up on podcasts or dig into some new music. And if you’re looking for the best buds for the job, you can’t go wrong with our favorite workout earbuds, the Jabra Elite Active 75t (available at Amazon for $179.99). The Elite Active 75 have it all: a rugged and water resistant form factor, tons of features (including both transparency mode and active noise cancellation) and easy-press controls so you can keep that heart rate humming. But there are plenty of other great earbuds primed for for your workout routine, and we’ve put dozens to the test so you can find the perfect pair for you, no matter how you get your sweat on. Here are the best workout headphones we tested, ranked in order: Jabra Elite Active 75t JLab Epic Air Sport ANC Sony WF-SP800N JBL x Under Armour True Wireless Flash X Jabra Elite Active 65t Beats Powerbeats Pro Beats Powerbeats Bose Sport Open Earbuds Credit: Reviewed/Jackson Ruckar The Jabra Elite Active 75t are the ultimate workout earbuds, and much more. Best Overall Jabra Elite Active 75t The Jabra Elite Active 75t are a great set of wireless earphones for just about anyone. But they're particularly suitable for folks who spend a lot of time running or working out, thanks to their nimble design and their hearty, IP57-rated dust and water resistance, allowing you to safely rinse them off after a workout. The Elite Active 75t will net you nearly every bell and whistle you might be hoping for, from a finder function so you won't lose track of them to transparency mode, which allows you to hear the world around you so you can stay aware in nearly any situation. Jabra even added solid digital active noise cancellation (ANC) to their already impressive passive noise isolation, which helps make these already versatile buds even better. The Elite Active 75t sound good, though their heavy, bass-forward sound signature won't be for everyone, and it might take some tinkering in the accompanying app to find an equalization setting that fits your playlist. Still, their sound performance will satisfy most casual listeners and power users alike—especially for those pounding workouts—and it's bolstered by around 7 hours of battery life per charge (or 5.5 hours with ANC). That's especially impressive giving their ultra-micro form factor. We also love the Elite Active 75t’s playback controls; their buttons are easy enough to press without needing much force, yet firm enough that they rarely get pressed accidentally. Jabra’s intuitive controls and customization (thanks to the loaded Jabra Sound+ app) make for one of the best user experiences in the true wireless game. One small point of caution: Their small size and rigid plastic design isn't a perfect fit for everyone, and they also may wear on those with smaller ears after a few hours—though that's the case with the majority of true wireless earbuds to some degree. All in all, the Jabra Elite Active 75t are a great pick for folks looking for superb performance, durability, and a well-rounded workout companion. In addition, if you don't see the need for your earbuds to be fully submerged in water—and you want to save a few bucks—the Elite 75t earbuds are nearly identical to their cousins, but with a less-rugged IP55 dust/water-resistance rating. Either way, you'll be getting a great pair of durable earbuds, armed for virtually any scenario (workout or otherwise) that you can throw at them. Pros Durable, dunkable design Sleek and small Loaded with features Cons Sound lacks balance Fit may be tricky for some $179.99 from Amazon $179.99 from Best Buy $178.00 from Walmart Credit: Reviewed/Geoffrey Morrison The JLab Epic Air Sport ANC are an exceptional value and perfect workout companions for those on a budget. Best Value The JLab Epic Air Sport ANC JLab's Epic Air Sport ANC may look like they're sport first and everything else a distant second, but looks can be deceiving. Not only are they great for your daily workout grind, but they're also well suited for anyone worried about getting a good fit, especially those who struggle with traditional earbuds. They’re IP66 rated, meaning they’ve got good dust and water resistance—but don’t submerge them. One big reason they work great for high-impact workouts is the over-ear loop design. It’s a soft silicone we never found annoying, fitting comfortably even with glasses. Some people aren’t a fan of this style, but it allows for a far more secure fit than any other option—we never once felt that they’d fall out and get lost. That makes them a great trade-out if our options like the Jabra Elite 75t won't work for your ears. The loops aren’t removable (see the non-Sport sibling), but the Epic Air Sport come with multiple silicone ear tip options, plus a very comfortable foam tip. Overall the sound is a bit bass heavy, but JLab's app allows for extensive EQ options to help you fine-tune your preferred sound. Battery life was slightly less than claimed. We measured around 13 hours per charge to JLab’s claim of 15, but still, that’s a ton for true wireless headphones. If you enable features like noise canceling, you’ll get less battery life. Speaking of noise canceling, like most affordable true wireless options, it’s pretty mild. It doesn’t hurt to have it, of course, but if you’re looking specifically for noise canceling, you’ll want to look at the top picks on our best wireless earbuds list, or our best noise-canceling headphones list. Like the majority of newer true wireless earbuds, the Epic Air Sport ANC also offer adjustable transparency mode, which JLab calls Be Aware, letting you hear your environment in high-traffic areas. The case, a bit larger than the others in this category, also holds a big battery, offering about 3.5 additional charges. It has an attached USB cable, which is either a strength or a weakness depending on your gear. More importantly, it has wireless charging which is a great touch. If you’re headed out for a walk or hike, these are a fantastic pair to grab, and at this price, they're very hard to pass up. Pros Secure, adaptable fit Multiple sound options Very long battery life Cons Over-ear loop isn't for everyone $99.00 from Amazon $99.99 from Best Buy $99.99 from Target How We Tested Credit: Reviewed.com / TJ Donegan True wireless earbuds all come with two individual buds—no wires between them—and a charging case. For this list, we focus on several key pain points that consumers typically run into when buying both wireless and “true wireless” earbuds (those completely free of any wires): battery life, ease of use, controls, wireless range, sound quality, sound isolation, water and dust resistance, and comfort, among other features. For sound quality tests, we put earbuds through some basic audio tests in our labs in Cambridge, MA to give us data on a few things such as max volume, passive and active noise attenuation (including active noise cancellation), and how well each earbud blocked outside noise. We use all the earbuds extensively, playing a wide variety of test tracks ranging from classical to hip-hop, rock, jazz, and more. The other features are all tested in real-life situations, including sweat proofing, short- and long-term comfort, battery life, microphone quality, and connectivity over distances and through obstacles like doors and walls. For sports options, we also put them through their paces in a variety of workout situations. Perhaps the biggest missing link in all headphone reviews is durability. It's simply impossible for us to test a single pair and come to a meaningful conclusion about how well they'll hold up over time and with regular use (and abuse). To account for this, we noted any major issues that popped up in user reviews (where available), though this didn't impact the final scoring. We also use these earbuds over a prolonged period and update their firmware when available to test out the latest features and update relevant articles and reviews with our findings. The truth is that wireless earbuds across the board have struggled with durability, so this is a major cause of concern for us. Since some of these models are quite new, we are reserving the right to re-evaluate our conclusions as we become aware of any major issues or pain points as time goes on. What You Should Know About Workout Headphones You've probably seen a bunch of different headphones in your everyday life. While they have a number of different selling points, headphones are primarily categorized into three types: in-ear (including all earbuds), on-ear, and over-ear. For this article we'll be focused only on in-ear models. These are primarily designed to be inserted into your ear canal and, apart from audiophile options or professional in-ear monitors, the vast majority will connect to your source device wirelessly. Credit: Reviewed Three popular types of headphones: in-ear, on-ear, and over-ear. Knowing the basic terminology of modern headphones is the best way to estimate what you need, which will guide you toward deciding on where you may want to compromise to fit your budget. Below are a few important terms to know before you shop. Bluetooth/wireless: Do you want wireless headphones? A pair of Bluetooth headphones will let you unplug from your source device, while a set of "true wireless" earbuds are even more minimalist, offering totally wire-free listening with no cable between the earbuds. If you're looking for an experience that won't tether you to your phone, tablet, or laptop, Bluetooth headphones are what you need—and fortunately, they're ubiquitous enough these days that you can find them in every style and price range. Active Noise Cancellation: Noise-canceling headphones, i.e those with active noise cancellation (ANC) aren't just for frequent flyers. Originally developed for pilots, these headphones reduce the volume of ambient noise around you. Over the last several years they've become a mainstay for travelers, public transit commuters, gym-goers, and those working in distracting environments in the office or at home. Most of our top picks include ANC as the feature has become more popular and widely available. You can also check out our guide of the best noise-canceling headphones we've tested. Transparency mode: This feature goes by many names, including HearThrough mode, ambient sound mode, Be Aware, etc. All of these phrases refer to the same technology, which uses tiny microphones on the exterior of your headphones or earbuds to filter in sound from your environment. The purpose is to keep you aware of your surroundings, letting you play tunes while you jog or hike, while still being aware of dangers or alerts. Not all transparency mode is created equal, though, and how a headphone’s hardware and software handle things like wind gusts can make a serious difference in the feature’s utility. IP: You'll encounter an "IP" rating across a wide array of electronics but the term is perhaps most important (in the headphone world anyway) when it comes to products designed to take on the elements. You'll often see the code "IPX" with a number at the end, or you may see codes like IP67, etc. The first number is dust resistance—how much the product stands up to ingress, essentially, and the higher the number the better. The second number is water resistance. The highest you'll likely see for headphones is "7" which means the product is certified to withstand being fully submerged in one meter of water (freshwater only) for 30 minutes. For workout headphones, anything from IPX4 (meaning the headphones can withstand splashes from any direction) and above is solid. For more info check out our IP guide. Other Workout Headphones We Tested Sony WF-SP800N Sony's WF-SP800N are formidable workout earbuds, offering an embarrassment of features for their price point, along with impressive sound, a strong and stable connection, and a sporty, water-resistant design—something Sony's flagship WF-1000XM3 true wireless earbuds don’t have. Packing everything from light noise cancellation and transparency mode to location based audio adjustment and Bluetooth 5.0, the SP800N are impressively well-appointed for their cost—especially since you can often find them on sale. They're also highly tunable thanks to Sony's Headphones Connect app, including a five-band EQ with a separate bass control so you can easily pull back (or ramp up) their booming "Extra Bass" feature. As for negatives, the SP800N’s noise cancelation is nothing to write home about, the buds are fairly bulky, and the charging case stores only one extra charge, though their 9 hours of playback per charge makes this more palatable. In addition, we found a tear in one of the silicone ear fins after just a few days, but based on over 1,000 user reviews, we’re inclined to write this off as a fluke. Because their fins are fairly involved, it can also be a pain to put them in and take them out, but that’s also what makes them so stable for high-impact activities. Their incredible playback time of 9 hours on a single charge with noise cancellation—and a whopping 13 hours without it—helps make up for their charging case's shortcomings. Add in their wealth of other features and the SP800N are steeped with value, making them a great choice if you're looking for action-ready sports buds. Pros Smooth, detailed sound Up to 13 hours playback time Virtually ever feature you need Cons Chunky design Single recharge in case $199.99 from Best Buy $198.00 from Walmart $199.99 from Target $27.95 from B&H JBL x Under Armour True Wireless Flash X If you're an athlete or a fitness enthusiast, you probably know Under Armour and its lauded range of workout clothes and wearables. More recently, UA has lent its fitness expertise to wireless headphones in a partnership with the audio experts at JBL. The True Wireless Flash X are actually the second-gen baby of this fruitful collaboration, and they're a stalwart audio companion for your workouts. The True Wireless Flash X are excellent for workouts or jogging. They have multiple useful sound modes for hearing what's going on around you, and the earbuds and case are extremely robust and impact-resistant. They're a bit on the pricey side for headphones that might not be your go-to choice for non-workout situations, but if you've got the budget for a more purpose-built pair of headphones that can moonlight for other use cases, they’re an excellent choice. Where the Flash X really stand out from the pack is in the details of their design and physical components. The earbuds (and stabilizing wings) have been carefully built to be extremely firm and durable, composed of a firm but gently yielding rubber that makes for an extremely tight fit/seal. This is important for both keeping out exterior noise and stability in workouts. You can jump around, drop to the ground, or (we daresay) do a cartwheel through a waterfall and the True Wireless Flash will stay put. While they can become uncomfortable over time, and forego some desirable features like active noise cancellation, they make up for it in terms of sheer stability. Combined with the fully aluminum charging case—a product that should be able to withstand even the most grueling situations—the Flash X might just be the saviors of your workout universe. Pros Super durable Excellent water resistance Good battery life Cons Sound could be better for the price Fit can be uncomfortable for some ears $129.99 from Best Buy $169.95 from B&H Jabra Elite Active 65t The Jabra Elite Active 65t are nearly identical to their predecessor, the Jabra Elite 65t, except that they're much better equipped to deal with rain and dust, similar to the newer Elite Active 75t. They have great sweat resistance, too. In our testing, the Elite Active 65t performed similarly to the standard Elite 65t: mostly distortion-free sound with great isolation and a fair amount of “oomph” on the low end, all for a great price. While the AirPods get all the glory, Jabra’s aging 65t lineup helped kickstart the modern true wireless revolution, and they’re still solid workout buds (and earbuds in general) today. They offer the basics you want, including transparency mode for keeping aware of your environment (though they don’t have any active noise cancellation). And more importantly, these days they can be purchased for a song, especially when compared to most competitors. They're not perfect, of course: we had some mild connectivity issues. We sometimes found ourselves needing to remove the Elite Active 65t from our phone or computer’s saved devices list and re-establish a connection. That said, if you're just looking for a solid pair of wireless headphones that won't break the bank, the Jabra Elite Active 65t sound great, stand up to the elements, and offer desirable features alongside a stable fit. As such, they’re a great value, especially if you’re looking for an ultra-affordable, well-vetted pair of earbuds to help you master your workout. Pros Excellent sound Workout ready Cons Bluetooth issues Some sound artifacts $94.96 from Amazon $99.99 from Best Buy $113.00 from Walmart $99.99 from QVC Beats by Dre Powerbeats Pro Priced similarly to Apple's AirPods Pro, the Beats Powerbeats Pro are impressive true wireless earphones in their own right. Though they've lost some luster in recent years with heated competition, they offer impressive playback time per charge, great sound, and a durable, sporty design that stays put under duress. They're relatively stylish (as you might expect from Beats), available in ivory, black, navy, or moss colors, and their adjustable ear hooks help to keep them in your ears during just about any workout. This is where the Powerbeats line turned the corner. They offer great water resistance and vastly improved sound quality over previous Beats earbuds, making them a good choice for general use, though their ear-hook design can get uncomfortable over time. They come with a pocketable charging case (due to their ear hooks, it’s a lot larger than most), but their impressive 9 hours of battery life per charge allows you to leave the case behind. The Powerbeats Pro are less minimalist than Apple's AirPods, and come at a premium price point—especially for headphones that don’t include active noise cancellation or even any form of transparency mode. This makes them less-than-ideal for jogging in busy areas, but you can use just one of them at a time in such cases to keep aware of your surroundings. Their price point has also dropped a fair bit over time. If you’re looking for fitness first, and don’t hold transparency mode as a must-have feature, the Powerbeats Pro are a fine choice—especially if you grab them on a good sale. Pros Water-resistant Available in a number of colors Long battery life Cons Bass-forward sound not for everyone Ear hooks can be uncomfortable $199.95 from Amazon $188.99 from Walmart $199.99 from Target $199.95 from B&H Beats Powerbeats (4th Gen) The 4th-gen Beats Powerbeats are basically the same headphones as the Powerbeats Pro—they simply aren't "true wireless," featuring a small cable that runs between the two buds and behind your neck. However, what you're sacrificing by way of true wireless freedom, you're making up for in cost. People love the Powerbeats Pro, but they're often just too darn expensive (at full price anyway) for many budgets. The Powerbeats are a great stand-in, priced well below the Powerbeats Pro's suggested retail price, and their price tag is only falling. Not only that, but you'll also get longer battery per charge (though there's no charging case for a top-off). Outside of the wire situation, Beats fans will be happy to know that the connected Powerbeats sound just as good as the "Pro" model, and offer similar levels of flexibility and style (i.e., they come in a bunch of colors). Like other Beats headphones, their sound profile is still bass-forward, but it’s thankfully restrained here for excellent clarity to power you through your workout. As you’d expect for fitness headphones, the Powerbeats are also sweat- and water-resistant so you won’t have to worry about going for the gusto. They also offer shockingly good connection quality that outdoes their siblings, as well as any other true wireless earbuds we've ever tried. Seriously, they've got such good range you may actually forget where you put your phone. We do wish Beats included transparency mode to keep you safe on the road, but if you’re mostly looking for gym buds or don’t mind pulling out one earbud in dicey areas, the Powerbeats are a great buy. Pros Incredible wireless range Clear, powerful sound Workout ready Cons No transparency mode Ear hooks can get uncomfortable $149.99 from Best Buy $119.00 from Walmart $119.00 from B&H Bose Sport Open Earbuds Bose’s Sport Open Earbuds finish low in the rankings, partly because they simply don’t have the features that many of our favorites offer. But that’s also because the Sport Open are unlike virtually any other earbuds in existence right now, and given the right use case, they could be the perfect choice for your workout adventures. So what makes the Sport Open so different? Quite simply these are open-ear headphones (as the name helpfully spells out) meaning they don’t go in your ear canals, but sit above them to beam sound in from tiny speaker vents. What’s remarkable about this technology isn’t so much that you can hear things clearly, or even that it offers very minimal “bleed” into the world around you. No, what’s most impressive is that the Sport Open Earbuds actually sound good. And when you don’t have ear cups or even ear tips, that’s a feat in itself. The Sport Open use an advanced version of Bose’s OpenAudio technology, which can also be found in the company’s distinctive audio sunglasses, the Bose Frames. The sound has been upgraded, however, adding the crucial element of full and rich bass to their already impressive upper register. The result is an enjoyable audio experience that also keeps your ears fully open and free to explore (and keep you aware of) the world around you. This makes them great for running and hiking, but especially good for cycling, where the transparency mode of traditional wireless earbuds is rendered almost useless. Bose adds to the package with impressive design, including simple setup, a relatively hearty chassis for each bud, and (crucially) IPX4 water resistance to protect them from the elements. They also offer around 7-8 hours of battery per charge alongside a minimalist, but relatively effective control system accessed via a small button on the bottom of each earbud. There are some drawbacks to being different, though, starting with the fact that, unlike every other pair of true wireless earbuds we’ve tested, the Sport Open don’t come with a charging case to top off their battery on the go. They also have a relatively austere feature set (as you can imagine, there’s no way to add active noise cancellation here), including a pretty bare-bones app. And, for our ears anyway, they became relatively uncomfortable over time, making their use cases all the more limited. That said, if you’re looking for groundbreaking buds that sound good and keep your ears naturally free in any environment, the Bose Sport Open Earbuds stand alone. Pros Impressive sound for open buds Excellent for cycling Slick, relatively rugged design Cons No charging case Heavy frame can wear on ears Limited use cases $199.00 from Best Buy More Articles You Might Enjoy The Best Truly Wireless Earbuds The Best Wireless Earbuds for Running The Best Earbuds The Best Affordable In-Ear Headphones

Why SaaS Brand Advocacy is More Important than Ever in 2021
It’s no secret that the field of marketing is constantly evolving, and SaaS brands are not immune from the challenges that arise due to the fast-paced nature of the field. One great way SaaS companies can keep up is through brand advocacy.
2021 SaaS Trends that Affect Brand Advocacy
For starters, consider the overwhelming push toward personalization.
According to a Forbes article, 71% of consumers “feel frustrated when a shopping experience is impersonal.” 74% are displeased with websites that aren’t personalized.
This signals the need for SaaS brands to segment their content assets and interfaces to hone in on messages that speak directly to specific customers. Personalization will continue to be expected in the years to come, and brands will have to figure out how to deliver it.
In the SaaS industry, where every interaction is ideally tracked, the opportunities for personalization are enormous.
Changes to Facebook’s algorithm a few years ago have also caused organic reach for pages to remain in decline, though you may still be able to find some success in organic if you get creative.
There’s also the rise of automation to think about.
New and existing SaaS companies are investing heavily in AI and machine learning to reduce churn and win more new customers simultaneously. From services that provide A/B testing to conversational bots that capture leads on-site, brands are rapidly experimenting with new ways to optimize their content.
Why Brand Advocacy is Such a Big Deal for SaaS
Simply put, your content marketing strategy is at the core of your capacity to adapt as a SaaS brand. Beyond the basic benefits of driving traffic and raising brand awareness, an effective content strategy is essential to consistently nurture and onboard leads.
Conventional wisdom says that we should shell out piles of money for paid media or sponsoring influencer posts to grab people’s attention. However, is this sort of “pay-to-play” strategy really the best way to go?
In an era where social proof is such a powerful currency for marketers, it’s more important than ever for SaaS marketers to seek out brand advocates wherever they possibly can.
Who could possibly be better brand advocates than your own customers and employees? These people are already emotionally invested in your product’s success, and they know your brand better than anyone else.
Encouraging your own network to promote your content and product from their personal social accounts is a potential game-changer for SaaS brands. Rather than spend the resources to chase paid outlets and influencers, brands should focus on advocacy, which can produce better results in a shorter amount of time.
“By creating a product that solved a problem that a lot of people faced, it meant there were already millions of people looking for us when we launched,” Canva CEO Melanie Perkins told Forbes, “so when they found us, they told their colleagues, friends and families.”
Here are some of the biggest benefits associated with brand advocacy, along with some ways that SaaS marketers can get started with realizing them.
1. Overcome Content Overload
In an era where people are on their phones nearly 4 hours or more per day, your customers obviously have a lot to sift through.
While the concept of “quality content” might be cliché at this point, consider how a higher volume of shares highlights a piece of content as buzzworthy. This is social proof at its best.
Content shares and product recommendations work because people trust peers and thought leaders more than they trust brands and institutions.
Bear in mind that employees who serve as active advocates on social media can quickly emerge as influencers on your behalf. Indeed, transforming your own employees into thought leaders is a desirable byproduct of brand advocacy.
2. Expand Your Organic Reach through Brand Advocacy
No matter how you slice it, competition in the SaaS space is fierce.
Considering that there are approximately 8,000 brands in the martech space alone, SaaS companies must fight tooth and nail for the attention of potential customers.
Think of advocacy as a sort of numbers game. The more people promoting your content, paid or otherwise, the more likely you are to break through the noise and reach the people who need your product most.
When you encourage employees to regularly promote your content with their own social media audiences, you essentially amass a small army of promoters you can call on time and time again. Through social brand advocacy, you exponentially increase your social reach and potential to be seen by leads.
Keep in mind – in many cases, all it takes is for the right person to see a link and opt-in for a free trial to pave the way to the sale.
TOPO CEO Scott Albro notes that the smaller the company your prospect works for, the more likely he or she will be to stick with your product once the trial period expires:
“SaaS buyers won’t engage in more than one trial. Our data shows that this is particularly true in the small and medium size business market where buyers tend to comparison-shop less. You need to make sure that buyers find your trial first. You also need to make sure that you don’t squander that opportunity when you get it.”
3. Engage Your Employees to Help Grow Brand Awareness
Perhaps one of the most overlooked aspects of encouraging brand advocates among employees is the actual task of asking them to do so.
While most workers would be glad to promote your content, keep in mind that brands should treat advocacy like any other sort of campaign. That means having a defined strategy and measuring performance.
However, SaaS teams often have highly specialized skill sets. You can’t expect everyone to be a seasoned content marketer and social seller, too.
Instead of having employees post content haphazardly, consider some of the tools out there that help streamline the process of internal brand advocacy. You can also help them with the content of their post.
One such tool is Smarp, which aggregates company news and industry-relevant content to categorized feeds. Team members can pick up the content that speaks to them most and schedule posts for their own profiles with just a few clicks.
This cuts down on potential wastes of time on social media and streamlines the process of sharing new content amongst your workers.
Features such as gamification signal the most active advocates within any given company, providing additional incentives for employees to become eager advocates. In addition to content aggregation, Smarp provides analytics on both a company-wide and personal level to identify top advocates.
This type of system works because it makes employees from all departments into partners in your SaaS product’s exponential sales growth success, a process which Roketto Co-founder Ulf Lonegren compares to the growth of a tree that spawns more trees:
“Make your employees proud of the work they do, make them feel like an important part of the process by reminding them how the software provides value and informing them of the successes, listen to their ideas, and provide a sales chart in the engine room that tracks the progress. Set sales goals and provide rewards for reaching those goals. Provide incentives for team members to make sales. In this world of mass marketing, word of mouth often provides the authenticity that buyers want when seeking a product, so remember that every member of your team could be that one oak tree, and from one tree many nuts can fall.”
4. Supercharge Your Social Selling
SaaS customers are heavily influenced by what they see on social media when it comes time to make purchases.
This rings true in terms of how often they see content and the sharers of that content. If social posts from sales pros, marketers, and brands themselves are deemed less worthy of people’s attention than social posts from peers and laymen, then your prospects are more likely to respond favorably to content shared by a high volume of people.
Research from Sana, published in 2018, indicates that social media is the number two driver of digital sales in the B2B sector, ranking just behind onsite buying. This is how the brand advocacy strategy can really boost your sales. The more people who share your content across social channels, the more customers you attract to your business.
According to LinkedIn, 87% of social customers have a favorable view of products that were introduced to them through their own network. By promoting products via employees, you have access to personal networks that you might not otherwise reach exclusively through a brand channel.
Last year, B2B buyers looked at 13 content pieces before selecting a vendor. Similarly, 61% of customers have made a purchase based on a recommendation from a blog.
A greater number of brand advocates translates into more brand equity in the minds of potential customers, which makes it easier for sales reps to build relationships on social channels and to close more deals in shorter sales cycles.
This is fortunate, as sales cycles need as much shortening as they can get, in order to remain scalable. The Bridge Group’s Matt Bertuzzi notes that the total contract value for a SaaS conversion correlates with the number of days it takes sales reps to seal the deal. According to his firm’s data, B2B SaaS sales cycles can last anywhere from five weeks to five months.
Dennis Koutoudis from LinkedIn SuperPowers told SalesHacker that he sees prospecting on social media, especially on LinkedIn, being the key SaaS sales opportunities:
“I predict that the usage of LinkedIn Sales Navigator by Sales Teams will increase considerably, enabling them both to zero in on their target prospects with extreme precision and also to delve deeper into Social Selling. The key here is to focus on providing value, build trust and develop solid professional relationships with target prospects that will ultimately improve sales figures. Great emphasis will also be placed on the way we present ourselves as Sales Professionals on the LinkedIn platform since with such fierce competition, now more than ever, we need to not only stand out in our professional field but also to engage in actions that will significantly increase our visibility on the LinkedIn platform.”
Prospecting platforms are major game-changers in this regard. Social selling teams can use them to scale operations, thanks to smart libraries of content assets that reps can append to posts on the fly, as well as sophisticated contact intelligence data that can be used for qualifying leads mid-discussion and enriching CRM entries.
5. Keep Your Content Budget Under Control
According to the Content Marketing Institute, 46% of brands spent less than $1000,000 on digital marketing budget in 2020. Given the emphasis on automation and other tools that could potentially cut into any given SaaS company’s budget, a leaner content marketing strategy just plain makes sense.
When your employees and customers are doing the legwork of promoting your brand, you cut out any sort of middleman when it comes to promotion. While there might be a time and place for paid media or influencers, SaaS brands should focus on an organic promotion strategy that keeps costs down.
Encouraging brand advocacy costs next to nothing compared to paid media. Additionally, popping up more and more via social media could actually score you earned media mentions as an added bonus.
Rather than paying for promotion and distribution, creating your own advocates represents a more financially sensible strategy.
Conclusion
As competition continues to emerge in the SaaS space, having voices on deck to promote your content becomes a critical piece of standing out from the crowd.
Not only does advocacy keep content marketing costs down, but allows SaaS brands to seamlessly signal their authority. Rather than pay for that same credibility, why not generate it yourself?
While marketing strategies at large never stay the same for long, brand advocacy is here to stay. If you want help growing your brand awareness or with any other content marketing needs, let us know!
