Shirahama’s masterclass panel at barcelona confirming a bunch of my conjectures
#i knew her art wha artstyle reminded me of#urasawa’s#two of my favorite mangakas#love tracing the influences of artists and their evolution#her assistants saying her backgrounds are getting more complex are being real#binged wha in a like a week and you can really tell just how much it’s improved which is crazy bc vol 1 is amazing#speaking of vol 1#it was cool to hear confirmation that the initial style was in line with western comics#when i first read vol 1 it felt more like i was reading a western graphic novel bc of the artstyle#as the silver eve arc went on the backgrounds became more complex and the characters looked more like manga stylized#like around vol 9 is where i felt the urasawa influence#also bc there is a fuck tonne of people to draw for silver eve#it’s no longer coco’s life in the countryside valleys#but coco’s bizzare adventure in a crowded city during a disaster setting#lowkey prefer the more recent style depsite my love for the vol 1 artstyle#like i mourn for vol 1 qifrey too leon belmont looking wizard (positive)#but#like vol 8 coustas looks more like his age#all the kids in general look more like their age which i appreciate#the minitures also improved imo#wha#rambles#bookmark#witch hat atelier
