Something that I see in ao3 and tumblr that I DEEPLY missed on other platforms: how the platform uses tags. Tags, on other platforms, are used as a way to boost your posts in the *gags* algorithm 🤢 and possibly to help users find posts on a particular topic. But tumblr? Yes, organize your posts and make them searchable. But the tags, first and foremost, are for your silly little thoughts. Where do people put their goofy lil ideas down? Their absurd little musings? They’re putting that in the comments!? Duetting just to react?!? Clogging up a post with their ideas for EVERYONE to see?
#it’s something I’ve missed so much about tumblr#I can have an entire post#and a secondary post in my tags alone#like here y’all thought I was done but here I am#continuing the rant in my tags#but I’m not making a mile long post just for all of my silly thoughts#you tuck it neatly in the tags#and no one’s experience is inhibited#you’re points are made#your thoughts are out#but the user experience is so much better#in my opinion that is#tags are like parenthesis for a post#and for some reason tags are quieter in my head#like this is the tone specifically meant for metacommentary#it’s not overt or loud or anything#anyways rant over#text post
