Do you have a favourite fic that you’ve written?
Heh. as I said in the last ask, trying to pin down a favorite anything is really hard for me. And since I tend to like the things I create, probably about 1/4 to 1/5 of all my fics would be vying for the title, and which come out on top would largely depend on my mood. Since I have 222 fics published ... that's a lot of fics.
But hey, it's my askbox and my tumblr, so I can do what I want!
Star Trek (all series):
open your heart knowing. Geordi had no idea what his soulmark meant, until he saw Data's manual.
Matters of Perspective. Jean-Luc had many things to do when he returned from San Francisco of 1893. Reuniting with an old friend is one of them.
If Ever Two Were One. Spock and Uhura establish a light, temporary, telepathic link for a mission. But there's a little complication when the mission is over …
That Tender Light. Spock and Nyota are colleagues and friends, nothing more. But now that Spock's bond with T'Pring has been broken, he can't help noticing Nyota in new ways.
Solivagant (Star Trek/Classic Hollywood RPF). The chain of events that had led a Vulcan woman to Earth, alone, crashed on an alien world light-years out of her way, was quite improbable. But statistics said that even improbable things must happen sometime.
The Mountain Rose Before Me. The fal-tor-pan is an ancient and dangerous rite, unused for centuries. It is not done lightly. High Priestess T'Lar considers.
A Space for Faith. Tora Manar grew up in the camps, during the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor. She loves Bajor, but she's ready to see the galaxy. Now Bajoran separatists threaten to end her Starfleet career before it can really get started.
Hope of Thee (The Zombie Remix). Don’t worry, Mother. You’ll never be alone. I’ll make sure of that.
Ornament. Kira Nerys, in the camps and in the resistance.
The Desert Between (and sequels). "All Vulcans are constrained. By our biology, by our clans, by our whole society. But women more so than men, and offworlder women married to Vulcan men most of all." Nyota loves Spock. But she can't have him without taking Vulcan culture, too.
Battlestar Galactica:
Will the Cycle Be Unbroken. All this has happened before. Hera wakes up on a Cylon ship, before the Twelve Colonies are attacked.
All the Difference (The Brave New World Remix). All this has happened before. What if it doesn't have to happen again?
Family Matters (The Things Inside Remix). Dee is on Pegasus, finding her place. A Six is on New Caprica, learning what she doesn't know. Lee Adama is a Cylon prisoner, but this is not his story. A New Caprica AU.
Orphaned Days. The Final Five weren't the only ones Cavil exiled to the Colonies.
Stargate:
The Genetics Factory (SG-1/Criminal Minds). In Detroit, homeless addicts are turning up dead. But there's more to the case than meets the eye, and the BAU finds themselves looking for something they don't understand. For Derek, it gets personal.
The First Rule of Anthropology (The Missed Chances Remix). Nine years after Daniel leaves the SGC, the Stargate goes public.
A Collection of Emails from the SGC Archives (The Wanky Wormhole Remix). When highly intelligent and dedicated people get bored, things happen.
Thine Own Self (The Lady, Be Good Remix). Sam's always a good girl. Except when she isn't.
Pride and Prejudice:
Kitty and Georgy (the Healing Old Hurts Remix). Kitty is often ill, but she is determined to live her best life anyway.
Far Above Rubies. All in all, it was a highly eligible match and Mary was quite pleased with herself for securing it. She might wish Mr. Collins paid more attention to his scriptures and the writings of the great theologians than to the edicts of Lady Catherine, but Mary's own scholarship in that area was more than sufficient to remedy the lack.
Lieutenant Bennet (Pride & Prejudice/Temeraire). Elizabeth’s reality is far different from her sisters’.
Star Wars:
Home is Not A Place. They all have different wants and needs. Somehow, they're going to figure this out.
What Once Was Lost. Neither Rey nor Finn ever knew their family. Sometimes the Force moves in mysterious ways.
Vorkosiverse:
The Offer. Fedosia Vorkosigan has spent the last decade administrating her father's district in relative obscurity. She liked it. The Emperor's proposition, on the other hand …
An AU where Aral didn't survive Mad Yuri's Massacre, but his sister did.
True Colors. Aral was doing math problems and grumbling about it when they got the word. Da later told people that Aral had been studying military strategy, and Aral didn’t contradict him, but really, it was math. Mad Yuri's Civil War takes an unexpected turn.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles:
Summer Experience. After "Born To Run," John Connor finds his way back to his own time and prevents Judgment Day. What's life like for Kyle Reese in a world where the apocalypse never happened?
Eudaimonia. We are not studying in order to know what virtue is, but to become good, for otherwise there would be no profit in it.—Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics 2.2
Murderbot Diaries:
Need To Know. All I wanted was for construction to be completed so that I could be launched and begin researching. Unfortunately, human illogic tends to delay things, and they were the ones running the project.
Rivers of London:
Right from the Source. Abigail thinks she knows what the world is like. Then Aunt Mamusu shows up with the news of Cousin Peter's new job.
Hidden Figures:
A Touch of Hands. Sometimes, all it takes is a handshake to change everything.
Agent Carter:
A Purpose Driven Life. Dottie escapes the Red Room as a child. Everything goes differently from there.
Beauty and the Beast/French Royalty RPF:
From Castle to Palace. The curse is broken. Belle and her Beast would be happy to just live quietly together in the curse-free castle. Unfortunately, the rest of France has other ideas …
Singin' In The Rain:
To The Stars. Lina Lamont: Mad Scientist
Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
What a Father Is (The DNA Remix). "I realize you've a dearth of male role models in your life, but a father is more than just an older man who happens to be around or who just happened to supply half your DNA." What the monks didn't tell about Dawn.
Batman:
Controlled Settings. The Joker, in Arkham.

hello bestie my bestie
ok hi i'm here to scream incoherently into your askbox and then leave <3
anyway! i'm here to talk to u about your car's extended warranty friendlocke season two!! so the friendlocke is a series on youtube that's like. this guy (derek) playing pokemon with his friends, and the idea is like... he plays the trainer, and each friend plays one of his pokemon. they decide when they evolve, what moves they use, etc. it's kinda like d&d but pokemon!! and also it's a nuzlocke, for flavor.
there's two 'seasons' of the friendlocke out right now, and season two is very much my favorite!! they're both enjoyable in their own right, but in season two they all were like. just for fun, they got really into their roles and gave themselves little backstories and storylines... delightful. they're all playing silly characters!!
and for extra flavor, season two is a randomizer run! so all the pokemon derek gets are completely randomized! leading to so so much chaos!
anyway i just want to share some of my favorite characters in season two <3
pastey the ninetales, a fucked up evil wizard who sells magic potions and casts unethical spells.
sauerkraut the farfetch'd, a depressed little duck who just so so badly wants to be loved and cared for and keeps spilling their sauerkraut everywhere
gabi the cherrim, a gay new york gangster who has personal beef with like 75% of the trainers the group fights
gerber the magnezone, a fucking youtuber/influencer who does ad reads in the middle of battles sometimes (not real ones, just bullshit)
mal the lopunny, a sweet mom who carries a bunch of random shit in her purse, including a fucking machete
coach cos the luxray, a gym trainer who's super sweet and supportive and enthusiastic about everything
this series makes me so happy but also so so sad. you wouldn't think this would be something that makes me cry, but here we are.
Oh I remember you talking about this in the cafeteria :D I love it

Happy Birthday, Melanie Crowe!
Tumblr media
It is my OC Melanie Crowe’s birthday today, October 19th, and it’s a big deal for me because this is also the day—according to my (admittedly potentially faulty) memory—that I first created Melanie five years ago! By the end of the month this time in 2014, I posted the first chapter to my Teen Wolf fic, Underneath it All, and my writing life, as it were, has never been the same since!
Melanie is the first OC I created for a fandom that wasn’t one that I just changed little aspects for to pick up and drop into different fandoms (I suggest you don’t do this if you don’t want to spend a lot of time trying to differentiate your tags for the different versions of your character with the same name XD).
She was made from scratch after binge watching the first couple of seasons of Teen Wolf during the summer of 2014. I admittedly didn’t get into it when I first watched it back in 2011 but the three years was a break I needed, I think, to really get sucked in. Did it have it’s faults? Abso-fucking-lutely. Did it have it’s problems in the end? Of course. But i was a show that kept me entertained and woke up a part of me that’s been itching to get into a new fandom to write fanfic for. I think it came at the right time.
To anyone who follows me, it’s no surprise that Melanie is my main OC baby because I provide a lot of content for her but that’s because she’s the first OC that I’ve written that feels like a real person to me. She’s easily the most three dimensional and she has an attitude and way of facing challenges and life that makes me cackle, rub my hands together and think “what kind of situation can I put you in next?”
Honestly, she’s the ditzy, silly, and excited side of myself that I don’t let a lot of people see because I fear that I come across as annoying or dumb or, well, a waste of space. She’s that and her own person; she’s grown so much before my very eyes that I feel lucky that I even get to write her. I feel kind of like a dork saying that but, hey, not gonna take it back because it’s true.
I love writing her complex relationship with her parents amidst the secrets that they keep; I love writing Melanie against Scott and Stiles, the two dorks that have stepped into a world that she’s always dreamed and obsessed over and finally, finally, feels like she can contribute something through them; I love writing Melanie and Erica’s friendship because it’s one so pure and supportive that I wish I had in my life as a teen in high school; I love writing Melanie and Isaac, the two opposites that have found a bond and common ground through loss and grief; I love writing Melanie’s complicated relationship with Allison, the new girl that shakes up her world and ties them together in ways that she never predicted; I love writing Melanie and Derek, the werewolf that she leaves completely baffled and at wits end; I love writing the opposite spectrum of high school hierarchy through Melanie and Lydia, I love writing Jackson’s and Melanie’s butting heads and dislike of one another’s modus operandi; I love writing her.
So, to celebrate, throughout today and tomorrow (because I”m only one person and I tend to be long winded) I’m making some posts discussing some of Melanie’s relationships with characters throughout season one because her fic surrounding season one (Underneath it All as mentioned once above, *plug plug*) is this close to finally being finished. I’m one or two chapters away and my goal is to finish it by the 5th anniversary date of October 30th.
My askbox is also open if anyone would like to send in questions about her or her fic! *hint hint. I will drop spoilers*
Here’s to my lacrosse playing, lifeguarding, song belting, supernatural obsessing, ditzy, silly, fun, loyal, siren, badass bi babe, Melanie Crowe! I hope she’s brought my readers as much joy as she’s brought me.
She’s changed my writing life, I love her to bits, and I owe her so much.

Really? Hook's kids? They wouldn't be her kids also? She wouldn't be happily married and wanting to have kids? Was she forced or something? Wtf are you people smoking
Oh what a pleasant message to wake up to! Thanks Nonnie.
You are being rude. Let’s be further clear, from the context of your ask, you don’t even follow me, you came across me by trolling one of my higher profile friends. So, you have come into my (virtual) home without invitation and have decided to be asshole to me.
And since I did none of those things to you- I was having a polite conversation with friends on a Friday night- I feel I’m within my rights in this situation to tell you to Fuck Off.
There’s no need to come back here, I rarely talk about Emma, I even more rarely talk about CS, and I don’t feed trolls.
All of that said, the reason we are discussing what I will call the “Greys Anatomy- Derek Shepard Paradox” ™ is because it’s one that shows respect for Captain Swan. It argues that they were a great love story, and that to break apart that story would actually be more unkind to the investment made in the couple by their fans.
Since maybe you were quick to glaze over the quote from Shonda Rimes that started this in your impulse to be a jerk, I will graciously include it again here:
“What were the options? Derek was going to walk out on Meredith and leave her high and dry and what was that going to mean? That was going to suggest that their love was not true, that the thing we said for 11 years was a lie, and McDreamy wasn’t McDreamy. For me, that was untenable. Meredith and Derek’s love had to remain Meredith and Derek’s love. So as painful as that was for me as a storyteller, the only way to preserve what felt true to me was that Derek was going to have to die in order for that to remain honest. I really couldn’t have the idea that he turned out to be a bad guy who walked out on his wife and his kids, [and have that turn] out to be a true story. To me, that was the only way to make Meredith and Derek’s magic remain true and remain frozen in time.”
I am sorry that you have been hit with bad news lately, but Jennifer Morrison isn’t coming back beyond one episode. So we have to start the discussion within the reality we are facing.
-Even if Emma has children with Hook , she can’t be assumed to stay behind and raise them:
1. No other parent on the show has done that literally ever (see- Snow and Neal, see-Robin and then unnamed Baby Robin)
2. THE AUDIENCE WOULD EXPECT FOR KILLAIN TO REUNITE WITH HER AFTER THE CURSE BROKE BECAUSE THEY ARE TRUE LOVE
3. When they didn’t reunite (because we know now that JMo isn’t coming back) then it would ruin their epic love story
-Even if Emma is pregnant and that’s why she can’t go on the adventure to save Henry: See points 2 and 3 from above.
-The whole basis of this theory is that I accept that their love is something to be respected, and not something Emma was forced into or is unhappy with (asshole)
-Even if Emma has children with Hook, staying with them would mean TURNING HER BACK ON HER OLDEST SON- AND THE CHILD THE AUDIENCE HAS THE MOST ATTACHMENT TO- HENRY. There is no version of Emma Swan that would ever leave Henry in peril. To do so would mean ruining the character they have written her to be.
-The entire show is built on reuniting families (“I will always find you”). If they leave Emma off in the background, the audience will assume we have to reunite with her eventually, which is a problem because - and this why we are discussing this at all- JENNIFER MORRISON IS NOT COMING BACK.
-I will grant you that perhaps JMo filmed a far off future reunion scene, to be saved in storage until a finale when they need it, but A/E pretty much shot holes in that glimmer of hope with their one word response.
I am sorry that you and other Emma fans are hurting right now. It may not seem like it, but I am not trolling your fandom. I sincerely feel that this option is the best way the show can do justice to her character: Let Emma save her family, Let Emma BE THE SAVIOR, and then let the remaining characters honor her moving forward in the good that they do.
(Plus hey, I’m only 55% confident that my theory is correct anyway, A/E likely would never kill Emma and you are probably very safe. So why be an uninvited jerk in my AskBox over something I’m probably wrong about?)
Good morning everyone!! *waves*
