honestly. it felt kinda bad tho timing wise for them to have that unresolved tension and then she dies not long after. idk it just felt shitty in a punishment kinda way? maybe i'm reaching i just don't like the idea of sending a message of 'woman not nice to man deserves death.' they could've picked way better reasons to write/construct her death that didn't result in fridging her for crow's story. what gets me is her VA is the same as caiatl's so its also like... why did she need to go again? it also doesn't help that story lines get put down and picked up at such long intervals in-game that shit feels too drug out. downside to a seasonal model i suppose. but yeah even if seasons w/expacs are usually not great/lighter this... still felt pretty bad storywise like shit even undying/hunt/risen had a distinct and somewhat fulfilling conclusion (even tho sometimes i disagree with it)
no you've 100% hit the nail on the head - they tried to justify her death by making her mean and failed wildly, because amanda ISN'T LIKE THAT AS A CHARACTER, has not ever been, and should by all rights have been over her desire to shoot crow in the head because he looks like the guy who kileld her friend by this point in the story. like, she's privy to a lot of classified info. she knows crow knows what's up and that he isn't the same as uldren. WHY was she still mad. has she been touchy about crow the whole time because they were trying to build up narrative justification to kill her becuase she's mean to the uwu soft boy????? i don't know
as far as the voice acting thing goes - they do share a VA for sure, I think that bungie is trying to pare down the cast in general so they can introduce new characters without things becoming entirely overhwelming for players. or, they are trying to cut costs by not having the voice actress do double duty. who knows! I don't work there.
i agree about the long term stuff as well. I think that the seasonal model would succeed more if they did fewer seasons per expac but made them more detailed/have longer story content. i get that gamers would get bored because they're little pissbabies but if we're talking from a standpoint of improving Literally Anything Else, I think they should do less seasons. (that's not to say that appeasing the gamers is an invalid strategy. honestly if I were a bungie dev I would do whatever it took to keep gamers from showing up at my work with weapons, because destiny players have threatened to do so before!!!!)
i am also inclined to agree that the writing has taken a serious downturn. EVERYTHING about lf and its seasonal content - down to the soudntrack, even - feels lesser in quality than it has been. i'm willing to bet that it's because they had to split lf and final shape into 2 dlcs. i can only hope that the sacrifice in writing quality here will pay off in more resources dedicated to the story in final shape and beyond
