Day 04 - A character you feel you are most like (or wish you were): Katagiri Yuichi from Tomodachi Game

Runner up: Azusa Yuuya from Caste Heaven

IM CHEATING. If i didnt mention Caste Heaven earlier, I would’ve definitely chose Azusa as someone I am similar to and want to become. For all those of you who read Caste Heaven, I’m sure you know how much pride Azusa has. I have a lot of pride too and I dont like being looked down by others. Like Azusa, I hate people who act ignorant, pity my position, and dont know their place. I also dont believe in the concept of equality. Those at the top will always be better off and have power over the lower caste. And lastly, my favourite aspect of Azusa is that even after he was the lowest of the low (target of bullying), he was still himself. He didnt care about what others thought and didnt get swayed by the caste system and change his behaviour or attitude to fit the position. He knew what he wanted and was determined to achieve his goal through whatever means. Although I’m doing pretty well in this aspect, I still have much to learn from Azusa. If you examine Azusa carefully, you will notice how he is actually a really lonely individual. I think we all feel lonely to a certain extend, so in this respect I am similar to Azusa, but Azusa doesnt have any friends. Its hard for Azusa to trust people, but he does accept others’ kindness and can relate to how others feel. His words may come out harsh (me. 100% me), but he is still a caring individual.

Yuichi is the character that I would like to become (in terms of his psychological analysis skills). He is similar to Akiyama Shinichi from Liar game. They are both really smart and can easily read and manipulate people. But there are some differences between the two which caused me to pick one over the other. Akiyama majored in Psychology while Yuichi is only a highschool student. Liar game is more based on figuring out how to “cheat” in games to save everyone so theres not so much of a psychological aspect in comparison to Tomodachi game where Yuichi actually observes his opponents and assess their personality in order to come to the correct conclusion as to how he can defeat them. I also want to learn from Yuichi how he can lie so easily and interpret others’ emotions so confidently. Yuichi also tests his friends which is similar to me in a sense because I have trust issues, but I dont test my friends. As an psychology student, I can see the direct application of the things that I learn in Tomodachi game which caused me to pick it in comparison to liar game. Plus, I already mentioned liar game so i gotta bring something else into the picture. (You can totally tell based on the descriptions of who I actually wanted to put for this one).

Summary:

Katagiri Yuichi believes that friends are more important than money, but he also knows the hardships of not having enough funds. He works hard to save up in order to go on the high school trip, because he has promised his four best friends that they will all go together. However, after the class's money is all collected, it is stolen! Suspicion falls on two of Yuichi's friends, Sawaragi Shiho and Shibe Makoto.

Soon afterward, the five of them are kidnapped, and wake up in a strange room with a character from a short-lived anime. Apparently, one of them has entered them into a "friendship game" in order to take care of their massive debt. But who was it, and why did they have such a debt? Could they have stolen the money from class to pay for entry into the game? The tomodachi game is one where you can win money. The 200 million yen debt from one of the group of friends can be cleared easily by passing one game. They can even win bonuses along the way. The fee that is divided among the players is written on a digital display on the back of a nameplate for each participant. However, your debt will double if you show someone else the number on your nameplate.

This manga only has 18 chapters so far, so its an easy read, but it’ll probably make you crazy wondering whats going to happen next. Although I was surprised as to how smart Yuichi is, nothing ever beats Kudo Shinichi. For all those of you who read and watch detective conan, SPOILLLLLLLLLLLLLER, who else was shocked when Conan predicted every one of the Black organization’s moves? Like when they were suspicious of Kir, and wanted her to kill Akai Shuichi. And how Akai was able to fake his death by coating his fingers with glue so he didnt touch Conan’s phone and used Kusuda Rikumichi’s body in the car explosion. Damn dude. That was intense. I cant believe he saw that far into it.

What should I do about this car insurance?

I have a car that is worth no more than $1500. I bought it off someone in my family and I should transfer ownership (as it is from a different state). At the moment they have selected me as a secondary drive for insurance, as I am a P plater it will cost a lot of money to put it under me. To reregister it and insure it under me would cost a lot. (including getting another roadworthy certificate). I took it in for a check and they said repairs would cost nearly $2,000 which is more than the car. Plus the insurance, totaling about $3500 in total when the car is only worth $1500 max. Now I understand what car insurance really does, they cover losses mainly out of pocket, reduce risk which covers costs of many, but I have trouble understanding why a company is needed to do this. Lets say on an average a person pays 150/month for coverage. Over time this money adds up. After one were to be in a collision, they are presumably covered, yet a deductible is payed, then they increase the payments.  I fail to see the purpose when they are just pretty much using your monthly payments to pay for these fines. Lets say you had a glass jar, and you put 200 a month in there, is the concept not the same? Even if you were to never get into an accident in your lifetime, do you see a dime of your money?  I just really want to know if there is a true reason, or purpose for insurance, because I fail to see past it as a scam.

What is the purpose of car insurance?

Now I understand what car insurance really does, they cover losses mainly out of pocket, reduce risk which covers costs of many, but I have trouble understanding why a company is needed to do this. Lets say on an average a person pays 150/month for coverage. Over time this money adds up. After one were to be in a collision, they are presumably covered, yet a deductible is payed, then they increase the payments.  I fail to see the purpose when they are just pretty much using your monthly payments to pay for these fines. Lets say you had a glass jar, and you put 200 a month in there, is the concept not the same? Even if you were to never get into an accident in your lifetime, do you see a dime of your money?  I just really want to know if there is a true reason, or purpose for insurance, because I fail to see past it as a scam.
