"Arthur, Arthur!" Fox sputtered, brushing broken glass from his face while above even more bottles shattered. Raining down upon them crystal and liquor. There was so much alcohol being wasted by the shootout that she could see it seeping through the floorboards, his blood mixing to create tributaries in the river of Kentucky Bourbon and gin.

"Don't you dare die on me, don't you dare, Arthur Morgan." She had to shout over the gunfire, ducking as the legs of a chair broke from the seat upon impact with the wall. Buttons ricocheted like bullets as she ripped his shirt open, searching for the leak in his torso. There were so many. Buckshot. That damned shotgun wielding son of a bitch was still firing. The loud pops staggered between the shorter bursts. He was going to die for what he'd done. Shooting her poor Arthur--they weren't even part of whatever mess was happening. Wrong place at the wrong time.

"Micah," another bastard she didn't trust, and likely the one who got them into this mess in the first place, looked over at her from his cover on the other end of the bar. "Shotgun, left-side." The grunt of confirmation was all she needed before she returned her attention to Arthur. Wiping away moisture as it stung her eyes.

"Look at me, we're going to get out of here, alright? I know it hurts, just, just--" There was so much blood soaking through his clothes, even with his shirt ripped open. His skin sallow, growing colder by the minute. Her hands were shaking as she tried to stem the bleeding, knowing that it was no use. Even if, by some miracle, a doctor found them that very instant, his chances for survival were next to nothing. He was shaking too, looking at her in that way that she knew he was thinking of something to say, but in classic Arthur fashion, was keeping all those pretty words to himself.

"I know," she nodded, shifting to pull him onto her lap. Back against the bar, arm shaking as she supported his weight. Dead weight. "You're gonna wait by the river for me, right? We're gonna meet down there, like we did." His lips were losing their color. "We're gonna meet down there and we'll go fishin' and I'll push you the water, and you'll be so mad with me." Her laugh came out closer to a sob. Above, another bottle shattered, but it was her tears that wet his face, not the liquor. Rubbing a thumb against his cheek, the stubble scratching in the familiar way she was never going to feel again after today. "We're gonna lay out on grass, in the sun, and none of this shit's gonna matter anymore, alright? There ain't gonna be any plans or schemes or god-damn robberies, it's just gonna be you and me. You and me, you hear me?" She took a shuddering breath. By the vacant way his blue eyes looked past her, he wasn't hearing anything anymore. "You've gotta wait for me by the river, Arthur Morgan, you gotta wait for me because this time I'm gonna do it right and I'm gonna tell you I love you instead of pushing you in that water. I'm gonna tell you, you just gotta wait for me. Just promise you'll wait--"

"Fox! He's dead! We're all gonna be if you don't grab a gun and help me!" She'd put a bullet in his brain for that later, when she knew for sure that it was his fault. But for now, she wiped her nose and eyes on her sleeve, ignoring how red it had grown, and closed Arthur's eyes. She laid him gently upon the floor, in that river of liquor, and placed his hat back on his head. Then, she got to work.
