reasons abigail is crying: two people in this (sci fi) book are having a conversation about how some people use technology to change their bodies to fit how they feel on the inside and it’s very futuristic but also a fantastic metaphor for being trans (and LGBT in general tbh)

#sometimes u read a book and just KNOW the author has gone through certain experiences themselves #or at least has done their research really really well #I felt the exact same way about scapegracers #like the mc is cis (I'm pretty sure) but the author is enby #and therefore the entire book has an extremely nuanced understanding of gender #that's how I feel about Long Way to a Small Angry Planet #cis people are just gonna be like cool u can change ur name and body with tech whatever #and I'm over here howling because like #I fuckin GET it #I also started crying bc I googled the author #and at the end of her bio it says 'she is now settled down and living with her wife :)'
