howdy! if you're up for it could you do some headcanons or lil scenes for Nitara with a fae fem s/o? thinking a sort of trickster, illusion faery. maybe helps lure hapless victims to feed her beloved and such.
TUATH DÉ FOLA. / NITARA X FAE! READER
Tumblr media
a/n: i am ALWAYS up for nitara imagines! i will be combining aspects of the ask you had spent after this one-- one genderfluid, playful and devoted fae coming right up!
Tumblr media
- At first, you had been a choice of victim for Nitara. Another blood bag to add to the list of the many, many mouths she needed to feed back at Vaeternus. A strong, healthy body flowing with life force she could sample and return with pride. But something had stopped in her tracks as she stalked you; your own action, your own hunt. Watching as you began to lure a young traveler out from the common roads. Coaxing him into the dark forests, pulling him away from any semblance of escape. When Nitara reveals herself to you, there’s a gleam to her eye. A proposal.
- At first, it truly is simply business. Your ability to lure in hapless victims, Nitara's brutal service to her people. One way or another, you both got what you wanted-- and you made a good team, complementing one another's personal goals and desires. She was captivating. Her gore, her hunger, her dedication to her people; and as much as you didn't believe it was possible, you eventually realized you'd begun to fall for Nitara.
- Your vampiress, your Vaeternan, your Nitara. So willing you are to do her bidding, so willing she is to reward you. To kiss your lips and cover them in the blood of her feed. To wrap you in her wings and carry you high in the air, always ready to catch you, always testing how far she can take you. Wrapped around her clawed fingertip; completely and utterly devoted to her. And she loves it, every part of it. The worship, the exaltation. She loves that despite all the lengths she must take to help the people of her realm— you are there, smiling, wishing nothing more than to be of service to her.
“Come back home with me. Come to Vaeternus.” Nitara’s fingers always find their way across your skin. She likes the sound of it, nails dragged across warm, beating flesh; and she likes that it makes your skin prickle with anticipation. Her eyes set on your’s; searching for an answer in those mischievous hues. “And what will you give me in return, hm?” Always needing an offering, tricky fae. But Nitara does not hush your odd way— she only smiles, the sharp ends of her teeth poking out from between her lips. “Me.” Everything you could have ever wanted. “Is that enough for you?”
- Of course it’s enough for you. And though she’s far from returning home, her mission a great plethora of bodies away from completion, the promise of possibility is enough. You are bound to Nitara. In all your playful, cruel ways— they belong to her. Even as she takes to the deliberation of a sorcerer named Quan Chi, you remain by Nitara’s side. Even if it’s evil, even if it’s against everything the world could possibly consider moral; it does not matter. Because she is there. Because the taste of her lips, drenched in red hot blood, is as sweet as dark cherries against your own.

alright x3, i just finished the folk of the air series and biiiiiiiiitch
first of all, I would like to curse myself into oblivion for not reading this book sooner. was it recommended to me? yes. did I not read it because I was unsure about faerie stories? you bet. and yes, don’t worry, I know I’m an idiot for that.
however, I am OVER THE MOON that I finally decided to give it a go because OH MY GOD. And before I jump into this I just gotta address something, because I watched a tiktok last night of this girl RIPPING INTO this book and it honestly pissed me off. I’ve seen a lot of dislike for this series on, as mentioned, tiktok and goodreads. And I get it, I understand why people don’t like the conflict in the first book because it seems juvenile... but we also gotta remember the characters are young and in school, so naturally they have problems that may be difficult for someone not in high school to vibe with, but THAT’S YA FICTION BABY! (and that’s why I love it tbh) I’m very glad I ignored all that slander and picked this lil baby up, because it was right up my alley.
SPOILERS BELOW FOR THE CRUEL PRINCE, THE WICKED KING, THE QUEEN OF NOTHING
Let’s go.
First of all, the first book had me from the first chapter (my friend also had me at ‘enemies to lovers’). And Cardan had me from the first mention of him (and the rings on his hands). He was my ideal awful favorite character and I absolutely loved the entire arc of hating to loving to hating to loving him throughout the entire series. I absolutely LOVE when a character has that much substance.
I think Jude is one of my favorite female protagonists. She’s morally grey, gotta love it but she’s also a badass and I loved being able to see the way her mind works. It was fun to try to piece things together as she too tried. It was also a kick to the gut with every reveal (cue ONLY DEATH) to a riddle I couldn’t figure out. Though when I first heard the riddle, I imagined a bloody Cardan just sorta walking out of the dark or erupting from the floor, but maybe not being entirely himself, but I quickly forgot the thought and kept reading.
I loved how I never trusted Locke and how The Bomb stole my heart instantly and I really owe that all to the writing. Just like faerie it was carefully planned out and every gesture meant something, and those two characters I feel were really well executed. I loved the diversity of the couples (Vee and Heather yee yee) and I liked that it wasn’t forced into the story the trademark bi couple whose problems stem solely from coming out. Which is really freaking refreshing from the more recent years of inclusion.
I also can’t believe how fast I tore through this. I mean I know my fanfic period of September-Now has rapidly increased my reading and with work, having to read fast is literally the only option, but still I was not prepared to finish this series in two days. I started The Cruel Prince on Monday at around 5p (ish??) and then just finished The Queen of Nothing today (5p) okay so yeah, it took me two days--and that includes a full time job and a hefty workout schedule--so good for me :) But the ferocity I ripped through this with was such a good feeling that I love and honestly haven’t felt in a while (probably since Shatter Me)
Also as much as I love my sweet Warner, I think Cardan just stole the spot of guy to beat. His cunning and trickster ways was just such an interesting read--cue me screaming into my pillow when Carden exiles Jude and laughs at her when she announces she’s queen-- I was FUMING about that for hours. My sister was like ‘can you like chill’ on our facetime call... and honestly, no I couldn’t. I was shaking with anger, in disbelief he would do something like that after all we had been through (yes, we, I went through it too) and I even tweeted Holly Black and I was like UM WTF... (I sent her a nice tweet after finishing QoN don’t worry, don’t worry)
Also as someone who sorta dozes off with war strategy, I felt like this was not too confusing and still compelling and I think that goes back to what I said earlier about us being inside Jude’s mind as she tries to piece everything together. Like it was interesting enough to have all the different Courts and to understand their motivations and their alliances and stuff, normally that stuff wigs me out and I just re-read the same sentence over and over, but here I was pleasantly surprised reading all the differing opinions and arguments of what they should do and when.
Ugh and then when the loml slays that fucking snake boy and he hugs her for the first time and just holds onto her in the middle of fucking battle. CAN WE TALK ABOUT AN ARC I am just still reeling from those emotions. And then when Nicasia is like “he sent you the dress for the coronation” I just about rolled off my chair. *chef’s kiss* brilliant.
Feel like a Madoc death would’ve been lit, but his existence in the mortal world and without violence, seems like death to a part of him so I’ll take it.
I also will never get over Chapter 21 of The Queen of Nothing. So much that I re-read it the second I finished it. “Come here” It’s a miracle no one came to check on me from the sound I made. ANYWAY..
Overall, I just can’t find enough words to describe how amazing this series was and how honored I was to finally take the stick out of my ass and read it. I can’t wait to come back to it one day, maybe a year or so and completely immerse myself in it all over again. CANNOT WAIT.
It’s safe to say I found yet another series that made me feel things the way Shatter Me did. It’s been a HOT minute since a (non fanfiction) book has done that. (And I separate the two because fanfiction I know the characters and with original works I actually have to get to know them but whatever, not important) anyway, it was amazing to be so in love with words again... and even in hate a little bit too, but hey that’s jude x cardan.
Okay the end, off to tackle more books on my 50+ TBR list yee yee

AB and paganism , divinity
There is a part of me that has at times wondered if maybe Azealia is a divine being. I suppose it’s completely possible , namely because she does seem to know how to ..well, attract things to her, even while causing issues. I think this is one reason I have such an interest with her, really.
It’s almost like I myself have perhaps fallen “victim” to her spell, though I use the word victim lightly because I find her spell pretty pleasurable to be under. What’s particularly strange about AB to me though is that a few months ago, I think over the summer, at the very beginning of it – sunmer 2016– I had a few scattered dreams at night while sleeping where I saw her. Typically I never dream of people I am at all familiar with from reality yet there was Azealia and she popped up not once but twice in my dreams. In the second one that I saw her in , I was way up top on what seemed to be a house or maybe even a castle cut into the side of a gigantic almosr otherworldly mountain, and Azealia was swimming around in a huge inground circular pool that had very dark purple, pinkish water. I was petrified to get in the water completely and not dressed for the occasion; I only put my feet in and she swam up to me and explained to me that she was casting a series of spells.
Now this might not seem too interesting to some people but the catch is that, at the time I had the dream, I was actually totally unaware that Azealia had anything at all to do with witchcraft or paganism etc. I wasn’t sure what her religious leanings were , but I just sort of blatantly assumed they were either “Christian” (in the sense that a rich pop star is Christian) or just complete lack of interest, no real comment, which is most modern people. How strange then to think that months have passed and now out comes this news trending that AB isn’t just interested in paganism but is in fact a practitioner. I said in my last piece on AB that she reminds me of a sci fi character , of someone from the future. Well now I’m looking at it again and she brings to mind 2 central characters in the Matrix film: the Oracle and of course Morpheus.
Is it perhaps possible that AB herself is in fact coming from outside this worlds Matrix trying to warn us of something? If we try to really look at Azealias storyline from a conspiratorial perspective, it almost makes no sense. In fact, she’s almost actually akin to a sort of “Jesus” figure – which Neo in the film was too— because she’s relentlessly persecuted , and she says things purposely, it would seem, to get herself persecuted as well. Certainly AB must have known prior to doing what she did on social media that she would be harangued , so why did she do it?? If she knew she would perhaps sacrifice her career? In my opinion it seems odd, and the excuse that she’s just an “idiot” doesn’t really add up— considering the fact that Azealia is clearly quite well read. She comes across in interviews as being completely unlike her predecessors . Azealia has aomething street to her, in the same sense that Lil Kim or Minaj et cetera did and do; but there is also an unmistakable intelligence and even sophistication to AB that isn’t present in those others. It actually almost doesn’t make sense to me at times why she is involved with rap at all…
I don’t know. Just thoughts ….
At any rate, the idea of someon being a divinity or being secretly imbued with divine powers wasn’t at all a ridiculous idea in the pre Christian world of paganism that AB is now publicly exploring. If anything it was actually a widely accepted idea. Many emperors and rulers in the ancient pre Christ world were seen as having come to power thanks to a divine bloodline or some sort of connection to the Gods. This idea was also applied to people who chose not to be in direct power as well, the best example probably being the famous Greek character Achilles. He was famous in his time in pretty much the same way Azealia is famous in our own and the citizens thought it was a sign of his inherent divinity. Why then is it so absurd to allow these ideas to be applied to modern stars especially very surreal ones like Azealia? If you think about it she’s really like one of those classic Gods from the pantheon who are always “meddling” with others…playing jokes, being “tricksters”. The entire trickster aspect of Azealias personality – and especially the rude aspect, where she snaps on people, even her own fans — ties her in very much with a faerie idea, actually, at least to my mind. The legends behind the faeries has always involved this idea that they are troublesome and very insulting when they don’t get their way. It fits AB to a tee. Even if you don’t like American pop culture , and as I’ve said previously I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of it (I often feel guilty spending time on it) there is still simply no way to deny, in my opinion , that Azealia is BY FAR the most unique star currently available to us on the market, in many respects. She looks in many ways to be completely out of place. Her songs are not at all like others we have experienced in any genre let alone the close minded hip hop genre, and a number of her videos are decidedly futuristic in ways that no other videos ive ever experienced are. She also seems to be the only female rapper to date besides Lauryn Hill who merges her singing with her rapping so flawlessly. I can’t think of a single other female rapper who ever did that - who was culturally relevant - aside from Lauryn Hill. And yet Azealia gets no credit at all for it. None. Which is really bizarr when you consider the fact that Lauryn Hill came up at a point in time when hip hop wasn’t nearly as popular amongst the general white population as it is now. By all accounts you’d think a figure like Azealia would be the number one star in this current cultural atmosphere , yet she’s still in many ways being submerged in the underground.
